    Wendy What a lovely horse.
The spoiler alert is under the 6th icon (the one that looks like a backwards P with an I next to it).

Kelly We bought paint for the outside of our house after bringing home swatches and it still wasn't right! So we donated 10 gallons of very expensive high quality outdoor paint to Habitat for Humanity, which made us feel marginally better. Went back to the paint store and bought sample cans of the colors we thought might work and found the right color. Our house is a lovely green, which is perfect for our setting on a pond in Virginia. We have a red front door. It honestly does not look like Christmas. I know that's hard to believe.

So today I worked my @$$ off at the gym!!! Worked in the weight room, listened to a new group of music, and rocked it!! Then on the treadmill I jogged 4 times during my 30 minutes! I got that treadmill to 4.5. I did 1.68 miles, and burned 208 calories! Now I'm still humming inside. Tomorrow is laundromat and commissary so we have 3 days gym break. Hoping to still do a long walk Sat or Sun, and look for rocks!
This next week I'm going to make a bean, ham and cabbage soup that I will eat throughout the week. Need more tuna and salmon pouches! Of course, more cucumbers, I'm addicted. A great thing I add to my rice and seafood mixture. A fresh crunch!
    Hugs ladies

Have to add this pic. I am going to try to put a spoiler on it because it may disturb some folks. First rattle snake I’ve seen. It was stretched across the road away from our campsite. We ran it over anyway....

Oh my that is a big snake. I don’t like snakes of any kind, heck I don’t even like big earth worms. Lol
Happy Birthday Meg. So glad you are getting good sleep and feeling better.
Worked in my flowers for two hours this morning then went to yoga. We spent the whole hour working on legs. They feel bendy now.
Hope everyone is having a great day.

So coffee for dinner! Ok I had tempura shrimp for lunch, and a couple hours later had tuna and wild rice. Some days are like that I suppose.

Rebecca - Yes, that is a cool tree/arbor

Wendy - Louis had been told about the paper bag stuffed with plastic ones just the other day. Our carpenter bees are about gone; but, we'll try it next year.

I had to have a procedure, and it SUXED! Had to have a tube stuck down my nose, into my esophogus and not swallow for 30 seconds. It was awful! Lady had to go out and get Louis to come into the room, so she could do it, I kept swallowing. He calms me down when faced with a situation like this. I was glad when it was over. Told me to go get something to soothe my throat, so ice cream helped; but, still burping like crazy. Louis was amazed that he could watch it go down my throat when she put in a syringe of salt water. Then I go back on the 31st to talk to the MD so he can decide what to do next.

Trying to keep pretty laid back and quite. DDnL#1's job at the company she works at has been sold. Trey and I told her to 'stay until they tell her she isn't needed'. It might not change anything; but, one of the women is trying to be "Chicken Little" and hopefully they can help this acid reflux which is about to kill me and get me off Nexium.

    Hi Gals,

So I read all this info on fasting, low calorie days, fasting hours and it fills me with dread… I. don’t. fast. I become a grump when my lunch is late. I’m planning dinner on my before breakfast walk… I eat less and lower calorie than I have in years, but I love food. So the dread comes in because in a month I have to have a colonoscopy, and I have to do a liquid diet, of as best I can figure out stuff I hate. I do not like broth, jello, or apple juice. While they have yet to give me the paper work, from what I have heard that’s what is available… so I’ll be just drinking water for a day or two..and I am already working myself up into a tizzy about this. And I can not afford to take time off of work; so I’ll be doing 3-4 hours of gardening everyday… I’m of course not looking forward to the clean you out liquid, but the idea of fasting is dreadful! So the question for all of you, how do you make it on a fast –and/or are you really doing a water only fast?

Did Debbie Sieber’s Shape It Up DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do some HIIT

Please tell me that I did the right thing. As you know, I know about zilch when it comes to flowers. I had some daffodil bulbs that I know were at least 10 years old, if not a bit older. I threw them out. I don’t think they’d bloom after 10 years. Did I do the right thing???

Rye – yes, I just freeze those individual cups. Actually, the applesauce is kind of like a sorbet of sorts. It’s pretty cool and refreshing.

Lenora – I really need to wash my windows. But honestly I just don’t feel like it. Plus…it’s gotten so warm so fast that the windows will probably dry even before I can get to them

Put down a bit of mulch on the side of the house. We still have A LOT. Right now I’m making some mashed potatoes for Vince.

Felicia – only good thoughts for your son

Wendy – how interesting! I will definitely give that a try. Now….are there any secrets to getting rid of these tiny red ants? I remember last year we had them in the front of the house and over the summer they made quite a mound of dirt. Now I find them in the back in the riverrock. The rock is getting covered with the red clay. Any ideas on how to get rid of them?

Rita – you can keep that rattlesnake. Thanks for making the pic a spoiler. You can bet that I didn’t look at it. I hate any kind of snake.

Rebecca That is such an awesome tree!

Wendy so good to hear the horse had no problem gettin in their for you! And thank you! I always wonder what other people think about my photos, because I get the impression they are just not most people’s thing. It’s late, and I had to go to work early today at the last minute, so I’ll reply to the camera questions later. The quick and dirty answer is if you have even a recent cell phone with decent camera you should be able to get shots of your horse that please you... more to come.

Ok, falling asleep in my living room so later ladies

Kim - why are you having the colonoscopy? Do you have symptoms, or is it just routine? Many places do not do routine ones any more, including the UK. You could ask for the poo test instead. Of course, if you have symptoms you must have it done, but you may have to have light days work wise. I too cannot "fast" in whatever form because my blood sugar plunges and I am dizzy and faint and can barely even talk. I think fasting may be useful for those who are pre-diabetic, as it does seem to regulate high blood sugar, but otherwise a good, healthy diet, with lots of fruit and vegetables for gut health is the best way to go. The last thing you should do is make food feel like a punishment or a penance, or feel deprived and hungry. That is not a recipe for long term success or, indeed, happiness.
Life and food should be celebrated. Both you and I love food, as does much of the world. Once you start seeing food as your enemy you are restricting joy.

I eat loads and I still lost 57 lbs. I don't even count my macros, because I know my diet is healthy. One of the keys is EAT MORE VEGGIES. We eat mounds of veg every dinner time, at least two thirds of the plate. The fridge is full of veg and salad.Plus stewed fruit for dessert.
I know I am lucky in that I don't have a sweet tooth. I never eat cake or processed food. I have one candy after dinner. But part of that is training your palate. We should eat like an adult, not like a kid. No chips, candies, cookies, etc. We also eat at regular times, which I know isn't possible for everyone. We also have the time to eat properly, not on the run, or at a desk, so we can eat mindfully and enjoy every bite. I think dinner should be an occasion, even if it is on a tray in front of the TV. The tray should be nice, there should be good, heavy cutlery, good crockery, a napkin, even if it's paper, and an attractive glass of something you enjoy, whatever that is. If I skip on any of that my brain tells me I haven't eaten properly and I'm feeling deprived and looking around to snack. I like a long meal, with main course, dessert, cheese and chocolate. In all that takes around two and a half hours, with breaks. On holiday I add a starter to that, which could be a simple tomato and basil salad. Or artichokes. Or asparagus. Or just a couple of slices of salami. A delicious bite.
In my head I am eating a sophisticated French meal every evening. Like a slim French woman. I am channeling her. I am drinking alcohol like Christiane Lagarde. Two small glasses a week. I am relishing my food and only eating the best. If there is some rich dessert I want to try I only take one bite and discuss it for hours.
We will have duck legs tonight, in Gochugang paste, with new potatoes roasted alongside for DH. With lightly cooked broccoli. Stewed plums for dessert with homemade yoghurt. An ounce of crunchy cheddar. Two thirds of an ounce of plain chocolate. Accompanied by half a bottle of AF wine, leaving enough to accompany the cheese later. :D
All this makes me very happy. For 675 calories. That's about half a pizza.
The secret is that the food you eat should make you happy. Not guilty. Not deprived. Not lethargic. Not secret bingeing. Not even self righteous. It should make you HAPPY. Whatever floats your boat. Just log it every day, exercise a LOT, and stay within your calories. It makes me happy to eat like a slim French woman and exercise like a demon. :D

I'm glad to say I'm over that pesky virus and feeling much better. I went for a run before dinner last night. Hooray!

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

kim If it is absolutely necessary for you to have the colonoscopy and here in the states they say one every ten years once you are in your 50s, then you are going to get it over with (small comfort). I think the anxiety about the actual prep process is worse than the procedure. A few ladies have had this recently, I just had one last July. Here's what I did. I ate healthy light food days before the prep, I just didn't overdo and no processed foods, 2 days before I ate simpler foods (they gave me an extensive list to follow) and then made sure to have my favorite bone broth, which totally filled me up. I spoke with the doc's office about preps, I had the 2 drink version, one late at night, wasn't as bad as a I thought it would be really!!!! :/:p and then another just to make sure I was really cleaned out and that one was definitely not as difficult. The procedure was straight forward, I am blessed the results were all good and I felt like a million bucks (though a little tired) after, very light and clean!! :p;) A friend of mine was faced with colon cancer, there was no further reason for me to avoid it, and anxiety is normal about this, I hope this is small comfort to you. It isn't forever, it is a short period of time and if you and your doctor say it must be done then you can do it.

    Good morning Ladies -

Allie - I agree 100% Inviting people over spurs me into action on actually cleaning my house as opposed to just picking it up.

Kim - When my DH did his colonoscopy prep he was able to eat lunch the day before the procedure. After that, it was clear liquids. His was "only" about 18 hours. He had the procedure and we went to Chic-fil-a for him breakfast.

Rita - I second Michelle's thanks for making the snake a spoiler! I hate snakes and didn't open it either.

Rye - I send most of my texts with voice to text. My friends have gotten good at interpreting what I mean vs. what the text says.

On working from home - I agree with Lisa that a good desk chair is VERY important. If your back is hurting from just using a kitchen chair, you can't work well and you are miserable. Learned that when we were quarantined at home for 10 days when SARS hit and hubs was in Asia. My office brought a proper desk chair and left it on my porch for me. I also have my notebook plugged in to a large monitor and bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I am very good at not being distracted by "home" things that need done. I don't do laundry, clean house, cook dinner or anything like that while I am working from home. While I don't have a keystroke monitor on me, I am at the desk 100% of the time I am logged in and working. I won't even stop to get a soda or pick up dry cleaning when I have to go to the post office for work. To me, work time is work time and working from home is a privilege. I don't want anyone to think I abuse the privilege. When I am done, I walk away. My hubs is not like that. He doesn't do well working from home (and admits it). He is distracted by the things he could be doing at home. I love working from home. I also like working in an office. The thing I hate is mixing both. It is very hard for me to work part of the time at home and part at an office. If I try to do that, I never have what I need at the right place. Very frustrating for me. I have friends that love working 2 days at home and 3 in the office.

Weight was stable today. I have eaten like a crazy woman all week, which gives me hope that I can maintain with treats allowed. I do need to get about 4 lbs back on me, but I am finding that difficult. Don't get me wrong, I obviously can gain weight since I started out as obese last June. Mentally it is hard to see the number go up when my mindset has been on watching it go down for so long.

Hubs and I's 30th anniversary is Monday. I decided I would try on my wedding dress last night to see if I could get into it.....and I did. It was tight through the upper rib cage, but it zipped (with me here alone trying to zip it myself). The bust is a little big  . I had several bridesmaid dresses and my two prom dresses in the same vacuum sealed bag so I tried them on as well. They all fit (with a little room in the bust) and one was a bit roomy all over. I'm considering using the wedding dress for this years Halloween Costume. What else am I going to do with it? I texted my girlfriend who I last saw at my heaviest last May a picture of me in the dress from her wedding (a year before mine). She was shocked!

I think that is all I know for this morning! Have a great day everyone! Machka - Continued prayers for you and your hub.

Kim I would not have chosen to garden for 3-4 hours the day I did my colonoscopy prep. I wasn't light-headed, but I was tethered to the bathroom.

As Heather said, the Cologuard or similar test might be an option. But if your doctor has said it must be a colonoscopy for reasons he/she can clearly articulate, then that is what you should do.

I was allowed Ginger Ale, White Grape Juice, Gatorade (not red or orange), and White Cranberry Juice, in addition to the options you mentioned. Nothing red, pink, or orange.

Carol I was wondering what Diana would think of Charles escorting Meghan down the aisle. It conjures up weird thoughts in my head of the groom's father procuring a bride for his son and presenting her as a gift. I do not like the visual of Charles presenting Meghan to Harry. Why wouldn't her mother escort her?

:) In 2009 and 2010 when I was losing weight, we did a sort of a fast day once a week. I was apprehensive about it because going without food is a source of high anxiety for me. We chose Sundays and used the day for restful activities and nothing that required any serious thinking. That's when I started doing laundry on Sunday because it was a useful activity that required little brain power and consumed a lot of time. We watched golf or baseball or movies on TV, took a nap, and went to bed early. It was an important part of our weight loss process but we don't do it any more.

:) I have had only one colonoscopy (at age 64). There had been nothing on any of the poo tests before and I dreaded the prep so I avoided it. It was because so many women on this thread told me how they had handled the process with ease, that I decided to have the test. On the clear liquid day I consumed a ton of clear chicken broth and apple juice (foods I never eat). I wasn't hungry and probably had more calories than on a normal day and a months' worth of sodium and sugar. They found absolutely nothing and said to come back in 10 years but I will probably ask my doctor for the less invasive poo test.

:) I am not interested in the royal wedding but have come upon a few magazine articles about what dress and behaviour will be expected of the bride as she becomes part of the royals. I never wanted to be a princess and what I read, confirmed that for me.

:) Today is the day I teach my line dance class--always a fun and happy event.

I agree. I just read Meghan is walking herself. That's what I was hoping for all along. It sends the right message.
