Well, recd a call from doctors office that wanted to schedule me in to see doctor for consultation. So he's away from office all of June.....So beginning of July is first opening! Glad it's not serious right?!!
Today I was so sore! I Tiger Balmed my lower back last night, and it's a bit better today.

Heather: Bon voyage! I'm having flashbacks to our January cruise, and the exquisite high touch service we experienced as first-timers. I think it must be even more awesome to be in the company of crew members that you've traveled with before. Airlines could learn so much from the cruise industry about customer service! Bravo for remaining practically AF Can't wait for your beautiful travelogues.
Karen in VA: I've never owned a dog, but seeing your yorkies makes me want to get a puppy. So adorable. However, Mars the Leash-Loving Cat is enough for us at this time. He is in high demand right now by my neighbors who have moles and rabbits eating their precious garden flowers. Just leaving the scent of his dander in their yard seems to repel critters. We've been paid with bouquets of roses and peonys, which is a nice trade.
Meg: I'll message you my cell# with hopes we can still meet up while you are here.
My DH has his birthday this Thursday. This AM, he couldn't remember what month this is or how old he will be. On being informed he's going on 74, he was quite happy and proud of himself. Despite the cognitive challenges, he's in very good health. No meds! We went to the Rockies game on Sunday, which he enjoyed for the food, beer and ambiance. However, tracking the game and all the stimulus on the scoreboard was beyond his bandwidth. We don't have any plans to travel this summer, but my goal is to get him out of the house at least once a week for something fun.
Meanwhile, we're in a heatwave. Temps in the 90's every day this week, which is about 20 degrees above normal. I have committed to getting into the condo pool for laps or exercise every day, and thus far, I haven't missed a day since May 22nd. Love my water workouts!!! Definitely seeing myself getting more toned and tanned.
Foodwise, my fridge is stuffed with cleaned and trimmed celery, red peppers and cucumbers. Will make salmon/tofu patties and baked chicken nuggets tomorrow. Also have some water infused with green melon and mint, a favorite summertime beverage.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

Rebecca – I’m so sorry to hear you were in such pain and still are. Sending good vibes. What a majestic deer you had there!
Jennifer – welcome. I bet Mary would have some good advice about the Keto for you.
Question: I need facts to back up what I want to say to Vince. The other day right after he ate lunch he suddenly got dizzy and nauseous (it went away after a few minutes, he’s fine now). Like his father, he immediately attributed it to something he ate. Well, he ate the same thing for lunch that he’s had many times. He’s convinced that it’s these cupcakes that I put out for him. Now, I made the cupcakes, just froze some so that they all weren’t out and go stale. He’s convinced that that’s what caused it. He’s had cupcakes from this batch before with no problem. Same with the icing. What I want to say is “it’s not always what you ate, but what you DIDN’T eat. Our bodies are very amazing at telling us what we need. For example, when we need extra iron, even before the blood test confirms this, our body tells us that we need extra iron because we get tired very easily”. I just need more examples. Anyone have any?
Karen in VA – go-karting is so much fun, just wish the cars could go faster….lol
Rye – you poor dear. Please let us know what’s happening. Carol’s hypothesis sounds reasonable
Rita – feel better fast
Vince had these lights (rope lights) all along the railing on the deck, but they needed to come down since they were coming off. They weren’t rated for outdoor use. Well, I spent almost all day taking the adhesive off the railing. I would guess 15-20 feet of railing. Spent all day getting the adhesive off. Someone suggested that you put motor oil on a tree stump that you want to get rid of. What it’ll do, I have no idea. I put some of the spectracide in them a while ago and today I put this motor oil in them. I don’t know what’ll happen. We went to Lowes and got some more blocks that Vince put around the cantilever umbrella. He likes it, I’m not crazy about it. But he needed me to pick up the blocks, he positioned them. Then he went into the spa to have the jets on his back. Tomorrow I’m planning to spray paint the blocks that I cut yesterday to use for the Christmas decorations. I don’t do a fantastic job painting, just enough so that they blend in with the grass. Then I want to wash off the deck railing since there’s so much mold. Then I want to put down the extra rocks that Vince got up, there are a few spots where we need them.
Thursday I volunteer at the green room, afterwards I want to go to the farmer’s market and see what they have. Hope they have honey since I need some. Then I’ll stop at Lowes and get this 30-minute stuff that takes off mold. I did put the wet & forget on the railing, but I’m a bit impatient. Also, if Vince is going to put different lights around the railing, I want it to be clean.
Precious perla – welcome. Come in often for lots of support and motivation
Pip – are you trying to outdo Kirby???? So glad you weren’t hurt
Rebecca – don’t you just hate it when you have to wait so long to see a doctor? I called about my trigger thumb weeks ago. At that point it wasn’t real bad, only happened every so often. I can’t see him until next week. Now it’s gotten to the point where it’s like the trigger all the time and the strength in my right thumb just isn’t the same as the left (weaker). Now if I’d been able to see him when I first started having symptoms, maybe it wouldn’t be like this. Oh well…. I feel for ya
Rori – happy birthday to your dh. Good for you getting all that swimming in. Are you impacted at all by the fires?

Hi Gals,
Heather – “This thread is a wonderful insight into other people's lives. We are all so different and that's what makes it fascinating.” You are so right on! I bet some Doctorate student could write a dissertation just by reading this thread.
Rye – sorry you had to go through that. I would – in writing – email? Notify your supervisor of exactly what happened, it means they will not be caught by surprise, and documents the world from your point of view.
Vicki – hugs, it is so hard to say good by to our furry family members
Everything is good here, busy of course!

You all were a big help, thanks so much. I let things like this bother me way more than I should do. I have told my boss and he let me know this person is a known problem, and the hospital system president (with whom she evidentially does in fact know) no longer takes her calls on such matters.
I’m just dismissing it from my mind, now and think I’m being much more successful at doing so. I will never understand such behavior, but it is now just a thing in the past.
In the present, my facial rash is almost completely gone - just an odd bumpy red area on one cheek and slight pinky hue to my face. I have only rinsed my face, not washed it since this happened. Kinda worried about it but it really was likely just an allergic reaction. I’m thankful it was so minor and transient since it was so visible.
Roriyour swimming sounds like it is just the ticket you need. I relate to the feelings you seem to have about swimming and am happy you have it.
Michelle don’t runners and cyclists need to watch their electrolyte intake to make sure they get enough or bad things will happen?
Felicia I love MOMA’s. I bet SF has a fantastic one! Enjoy!
wendy Thanks for the link!
Barbara Wow, if you had been there she never would have stood a chance !!! Thanks! You gave me a big smile! Good news for you indeed, glad to hear it! And you are so right our dearest furry ones do leave us all too soon.
Okie glad you are in top of it- taking care of that before it becomes major water damage. I’m glad you have a witness and pictures, I have been recording engine sounds in cars for years, - things that are dismissed time after time become diagnosable once they hear the proof.
I had more to reply to, but I’m so bushed. Bed is calling.

Looked like it might rain today but then this afternoon the sun came out. Went to the YM and got my workout in. Also saw the doctor today because I thought I might have a UTI and yes I have a bladder infection. Now on antibiotics. She said I could wait to start them until the cultures came back but said that they are using a new lab and that might be 3 to 3-1/2 days. I can be nearly done with the ones I have by then. I see the pulmonologist tomorrow for follow-up on the sarcoidosis.
Rebecca - That scan does not sound like fun. Hope after all that you get good results.
Michelle - Do you take a statin for cholesterol? I was taking one that after about three weeks I was itching on my arms and torso especially the inside of the elbows and armpits. It turned out that I was allergic to that medication. Doctor changed it and have not had any more trouble.
Rori - Sounds like your retirement is going swimmingly.
Wendy - Thanks for the link.

Lenora: I think of Heather when I hear the quotation that begins with, "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good." It is based on a quotation from Voltaire.
Rita: I hope that you feel better soon. (((hugs))).
Heather: I love to hear about your travel adventures.
Barbara: I tried growing snow peas a couple of years. The vines were over whelming because there were so many peas all at once. I really don't care for snow peas unless they are fresh. Freezing the crop wasn't satisfactory. Beans are different. I think they handle freezing better. :ohwell:
Okie: Good luck with your AC. :flowerforyou:
Precious Perla: Welcome!
Alison: I think it is grand that you won some money at bingo. Don't spend it all in one place.
Pip: Be careful out there! I'm glad you weren't hit. :flowerforyou:
This afternoon I robbed our boat of silverware, pots and pans. They're in the dishwasher right now & I'll be putting them in the RV tomorrow. I was going to by new, and changed my mind. Why spend all that money to buy new when I have things available that I'm not using? I left glassware and dishes on board. I may decide to retrieve the glassware. It isn't actually glass; it is acrylic.
We reserved a campsite at a county park for the fourth of July and went up to see our spot today. We liked our spot but the caretaker says we shouldn't camp there because we won't be bringing a horse. I need to go into the county offices tomorrow and talk to the woman in charge. Nothing in their information said that a horse was a requirement to camp in that spot.

Hi all. You can just call me Jen in BC
I had a very good day today. Stayed on track with my Keto plan, and also under my calorie goal for the day. Got my exercise in, and my BS rate is the lowest it has been since I was diagnosed with diabetes. Happily on my way to recovery . Wishing you each a great evening. Remember every morning brings a new opportunity for success.5 -

Rori great swim streak! Your fridge contents makes me feel like clean eating too.
Michelle for me, eating salty, fatty foods makes me dizzy--uncomfortably dizzy. Too much sugar is always followed by a crash and a headache
Things are cranking up for DD as she preps for her semester abroad, just as things are slowing down for me at work, but still plenty to keep me distracted or too overprotective. Later I'm headed to the gym with DD, she'll run and I'll climb/walk onthe treadmill. Looking forward to watching my garden grow, if only the weather were a little more predictable! lol

Hi ladies!
Just relaxing now before I go down to lunch. Probably on my own as DH is seasick. It gives him balance problems, even though it's only a slight swell. Should be better once we round the top of Denmark.
I got up at 6.45 and got dressed for my run round the sundeck. I was going to do 3 miles, but ended up only doing two, because I wanted to be the first down to breakfast in the dining room to hold our evening table at breakfast and lunch. I went line dancing after breakfast, so made up the calories. I had kedgeree and poached egg for breakfast and loads of fresh fruit. Not really low carb, but I will earn it with extra exercise.
Then we sat through a couple of lectures on the port excursions and the birds we expect to see, but poor DH was not feeling great. He is taking the pills and sleeping it off, so I will lunch alone with my Kindle.
There is a waltz class later, but he isn't up to it. Line dancing in a swell was hilarious!!!
I found my running music was very weird out on the deck with just sea for miles around. It didn't match the surroundings. I might play some classical next time. In my head I was running round the lanes of home! The sea on all sides feels very different.
The only one that worked was "Rise Up" .

Good morning Ladies!
Today marks one year since I started on my weight loss journey. I do not have a handle on maintenance yet, but I’m getting there. Only 3 more lbs I need to gain to be back in range.
Happy Wednesday!

Morning Ladies~
Well slept very well, but got a call from my brother.. he needs money.. I have it and will give it to him, it is 1,000 dollars and he has been using a little here and there for dads house, and paying people to help clean out.. I will lend it to him as I feel guilty that I havent been able to help as much as I would like.
I will try and set a side some each week to put in savings.
Heather~ love hearing about your trip..
Katla ~ hope your camping trip works out..3 -

Could be menopause. No just kidding. It's just that's what happens to me all day long.
Could be dehydration.
Could be the icing on the cupcakes. Things that are extra sweet do that to me too.
Could be vitamins and minerals if he's taking them with dinner. I have to take my supplements just before bed or I feel a bit sick and dizzy.
Could be a TIA: https://strokefoundation.org.au/About-Stroke/Types-of-stroke/Transient-Ischaemic-Attack-TIA
Incidentally, I have borderline haemochromatosis (too much iron occurring naturally in my system). If I take iron tablets, one of the first set of symptoms I feel are quite significant fatigue, weakness and lethargy. For several years, I thought the solution to any fatigue, weakness and lethargy I might be feeling was to take iron because I didn't know any better ... but it never seemed to help, in fact, I always felt worse. And then I had blood work done. Turns out, iron was entirely the wrong thing for me. In other words, it is good to get the bloodwork done to know for sure, and not just guess.
If this is something your husband is concerned about, insist he go see a Dr.

Kim - Just so you know how slowly I jog, I was lapped several times this morning by a fast walking man.
Most people on the ship are quite old. They seem to belong to my mother's generation! The ladies at the line dancing must be the most sprightly bunch. We were about 14. The cruise is for over 50s, but most are a lot older. Hence our desire for our own table for two. There is only so long I can talk to a parent figure. They are also very different politically to us, much more Middle England. I do hear some quite posh accents.
Off to the waltz!

Rori I am one of the less fortunate here who have not had the pleasure of meeting you in person. Your last post gives me a lovely picture of the person you are, though. I think you must be a person who is organized, who knows how to plan activities and contingencies, and who has an optimistic and practical outlook. We were both in the Denver airport at the same time a couple of years ago, but neither of us knew it. Darn it.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
Woke up with a sinus headache for the third morning in a row, and the thought of digging my way out from under an avalanche of work has little charm for me this morning. I don't think I'm depressed, per se--but if you're a Little Women fan, and maybe even if you're not, you'll understand when I say at the moment I feel as if I'm wading through the Slough of Despond. It's an unaccustomed place for me--while still being terribly familiar. It's that stage of a diet regimen where I blow up, and binge, and sneak food while my husband's not looking, and watch the scale numbers rise, and feel like an utter failure. Struggling to extricate myself from it and find my path again feels beyond me.
And then I read the words of you incredibly strong, amazing women, and feel inspired to just pick up the blessedly metaphorical shovel and start digging once more. Slowly, whinging, whining and complaining all the way, but digging.
And not to mix my metaphors unforgivably, but you are indeed my leaning post, and I am grateful.
Love y'all,
Lisa in Arkansas (where DID I leave that shovel? )12 -

Lisa - keep digging! You know you can do it, and so do we. We will all add our virtual shovels to help you!
Okie1 -
Good morning!
It's 50 degrees here this morning ... 90s last week and 50s this week ... might be a contributing factor to my stuffed head and sore throat. Allergies and sinus gunk. Oh joy.
June is a busy month. Graduation parties, weddings, baby showers, and lots of yard maintenance. Younger son is helping with the yard work, but it is quickly getting out of control. We have not yet opened up our pool and the pool area is especially depressing with overgrowth. So tempted to just bulldoze the whole thing. A company we've used often over the years closed the pool last Fall and did things a little wonky (neither of their workers spoke English) so I've hired the same company to reopen it. If something is wrong it will be their problem to fix!
Mary ... my DH was just bit by a tick. I did a lousy job extracting the thing. Anyways, he had been in the woods over the weekend and didn't find it until the second day ... went to his doctor and he's proactively treating it as Lymes as it had him concerned that he had already developed multiple red rings. I thought of you immediately! Hope you have been feeling well.
Off to get things done!
Beth
