Got my *kitten* out of bed this morning to run, but not early enough to run more than 5km. I'm a day behind schedule for this week but that shouldn't be a problem.
Calves were tight again this morning the way they always are when I take 3 days off in a row. But not as bad as usual. So that's a victory I guess.
It rained and stormed off and on all night so it was cool but very humid. At least I didn't notice any bugs.

@RunsOnEspresso - Love Oiselle! What did you get? Anything fun? I am on a running clothes time out until I sort out what I have and get rid of some - I just have too much (yes it is possible). So in the meantime I need to live (shop) vicariously!
@AlphaHowls - WOW, just WOW! That is more than I have run in a month ever! What do you expect your total to be for the month?

I’ve been out of town so I hadn’t run since last Wednesday! Eek.
7/1- 2.7 Miles
7/2- lifted weights
7/3- nothing
7/4- 1.62
7/5- lifted
7/6-7/9- out of town. Went to a water park and a couple hikes
7/10- 1.59
I love running because I have time to notice things that I’ve never noticed before like last night I discovered that one of our neighbors a couple streets back has two pigs??? (I live in a typical suburban neighborhood lol)11 -
07/04/2018 - 4.37 miles
07/11/2018 - 2.43 miles
6.80/50 miles
Between celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary last week, out of town guests coming to visit, working on my Mom's house from a flood in August 2016 and other excuses, I did not run until today. Way behind on miles for this month.
I actually moved my alarm clock away from my nightstand so it forces me to get out of bed. Only problem is if my husband hears it before I do, he gets up and turns it off, not just snoozes it.
I got up later than planned this morning and went out for 2 miles thinking I had to be back by a certain time to take my son to football practice. Got back, showered, woke him up and he reminds me no football practice on Wednesdays during month of July. Could have added some mileage to my workout, but it was too late.
PF is better - hurt a little during my warm up walk but got better as I ran. Feels sore after the run. No where near the constant pain I was feeling at the beginning of May.
Tomorrow is a planned rest day - I have an all day meeting for work and have to be here super early to set up and prep the meeting room. Running Friday and Saturday.
Upcoming races (Question marks are races not yet registered for):
Louisiana Marathon Quarter Marathon - 01/13/2018 - Done

Hey, my name is Katie and of course I found this group a little late but would love to join. I am in the beginning stages of becoming a runner (you know that fun stage where you run for 30 seconds then walk for 30 more but I will slowly and surly work my way up...have no choice because I already signed up for the St Judes Half in December So lets begin:
July 11: Alternating 30 seconds of walk/run for 12 minutes (fitbit) deleted my log so I don't know the exact distance21 -

Welcome! That's definitely a stage most of us remember - it wasn't even a year ago for me! Keep it up and you'll be amazing how much progress you can make if you keep pushing yourself just a little bit at a time.2 -
@AlphaHowls Only 13 miles today? Are you ok? Sick? Injured?9

July goal: 80 miles
7/1: 7.6 miles
7/3: 4.2 miles
7/5: 4.6 miles
7/6: 4.3 miles
7/8: 7.1 miles
7/10: 4.5 miles
7/11: 4.5 miles
36.8/80 miles
I had another great 4.5 miles run this morning. I ran the same route as yesterday and was a little bit faster. I managed all of my miles in under 11 minutes. That may not seem fast compared to some people, but I am trying to just compare myself to me, and for me that is fast. The temperature was a little higher than yesterday, but the humidity and the dew point were not as high so it felt pretty nice. I felt really good the whole time. There was enough of a breeze to cool me down a little, but not enough wind that I felt like I was struggling to run into it. I don't really know if it is "runner's high" or not, but I do love that feeling like I'm flying and I could just run forever.
2018 races:
5/19/18: Run for 57th AHC Half Marathon - 2:43:59.7. - 2nd place AG
11/10/18: Wags & Whiskers 5K8 -

I ordered 3 pairs of shorts to try. It's getting to warm/humid for capri/knee length. And I can't do the 3-4" and its hard to find 5-8" shorts. I need to cover my booty! I got a 5" with birds, the long pocket jogger and the long roga. The 5" and joggers said compression but they didn't feel very compression-y when I tried them on. If not they will be for short runs.3 -
7/1 = 8 miles
7/2 = 3 dreadmill miles and 30 minutes strength training
7/3 = 6 miles
7/4 = 5 miles
7/5 = 3 miles
7/6 = 12 miles
7/7 = rest day
7/8 = 7 miles
7/9 = 3 miles & 30 minutes ST
7/10 = sick day
7/11 = 10.5 miles
A slow morning run with no fuel. My stomach is still a bit “lava like” so I figured a fasted run was the best option.
59.5/125 goal July miles9 -

It was an odd morning. I started out as usual and traffic was heavy. Then I see an ambulance drive past, no lights or siren which is weird since I was in a residential area. Not really a place you see ambulances unless answering a call. So I watched and the ambulance, the car in front and behind it continued into the dead end, turned around and parked. No one got out.
Then I am running down a main street. There's a lot of traffic today, more than most mornings. It was loud and I couldn't hear my podcast. I wear only my left ear bud so my right ear is to the street and no bud to hear traffic. I was hearing something over the traffic that I was trying to figure out if it was screaming or music. Then I hear tires squeal and look over to the apartment complex across the street. A white car is trying to make a fast turn around and someone is at the back end hitting it and screaming. The white car squeals out of the parking lot and steps on it. I picked up the pace because I wanted to be no where near the person screaming and hitting cars.
I changed my route to stick to the road because I was like this is too weird. I'm glad I did because as I was running past the front of a new home construction they were banging on windows. Not sure what exactly they were doing but the noise startled me. I looked over and they had lights and cranes and I could see workers so it wasn't like people in there stealing or trashing. Had I ran through the back way I normally go I would have been right by the house and probably screamed because of how on edge I was at that point.
Needless to say my heart rate was super high despite how much I tried to slow down. I wasn't as fast or far as I'd have liked but it was such a weird morning that I'm chalking it up to that.14 -

I actually got up late, by a couple of hours, being lazy. I usually am out the door before 5 AM, but just stayed in bed for a little bit longer. I am also trying to work on my sleep habits, and sometimes I just need a little more. I don't know what I will do if it ever says I had 8 hours of rest. Injured... no more than usual aches and pains of being my age. My heel actually hurts at rest or walking, but not running.5 -

No Niagara Falls this morning My sister wasn't feeling well to go. I wish she were healthier, but she takes terrible care of herself. That's another story...
So I did 5 miles to the park and back, sunny and warm, but felt pretty good. The lower humidity feels wonderful.
Tomorrow is an easy 4 miles, then my long run on Friday morning. Friday afternoon we pack everything up to make the 11 hour drive home

Cool. My X5 came last week and I ran in it twice. I am not ready to give a full review, but I can say it did not kill me and that is my very first line a product must cross.2 -

A bit too focused on number of miles and feeling behind in it. Plus having just done the Boilermaker 15k and thinking about running a race with almost twice the number of people and almost 3 times the distance has me a bit freaked. Need to pace myself in the anxiety department as there are still 15 weeks left.
I felt that way all the way till I crossed the finish line at my first marathon! You will be fine. Just stick to the plan and trust your training. You got this!6 -
Welcome @katiebug3268! You may not be a fast runner, but I hope you are a fast reader. This group posts more often than Donald Trump on Twitter!
Speaking of posts, I haven't seen @7lenny7 post in a long time. I apologize if I missed an injury report or something, but does anybody know how he is doing?6 -
@katiebug3268 - Welcome. I have ran the half marathon for St Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend 4 times. This year I am running the 10K - mainly because there are some bucket list races I want to do in my home state that I can't do while training for a half marathon.
I am concerned that you are a new to running and are attempting a half six months out - but people have done it before. St Jude half course is a little hilly but very manageable. I also know plenty of people that walk the half.

Not 100% sure but I think @7lenny7 usually is sailing in the summer months. I believe he focuses on that and not running.
