7/27 - 188.2 - I got kicked out of ketosis and ate like it for a few days. I'm less concerned with the weight gain, knowing that it is mostly water, but I am bothered by how physically awful I feel. One positive outcome of the last few days, it reaffirmed that I feel better physically eating low carb. I am back on track today and excited to get back to it.
7/28 - 187.3 - I ate low carb but didn't track. I was short on my water yesterday. Today's goals will be to eat LCHF and hit my water goal.
7/29 - 187.0 - I did better with my water intake yesterday and stayed on track with LCHF. Today I am going to go try to add back in some exercise.
7/30 - 185.7 - I'm beginning to feel better physically. I didn't get in any exercise yesterday, but I'm going to go for a run today.
7/31 - 185.7 - Staying the same is better than going up. Today I am going to try cutting out processed food and be better at tracking. I've only been kind of tracking. I've been planning my food, but not sticking to the plan. I've been sticking to low carb, but I know I'll see better results if I stick to my food plan.

7/27 - 158.5 - I was going to gripe about being this weight for almost 8 days straight, especially since I've stayed real close to my weight loss calories. Then I realized because of our out of town visitors, I've had food that is higher in sodium, I haven't been walking as much, and water has not been my drink of choice. We've got one last barbecue planned for this weekend and then they'll leave on Sunday. I need to enjoy this weekend and not worry about what the scale says. Last week, before they came, I was hoping to maintain and I need to be happy that I did.

7/29 - 161 - Well, 158.5 looks pretty good right now! I had a little of everything at our picnic yesterday and several drinks, so this is no surprise. I have figured out that exactly 11 years ago I had dieted to 157 lbs. I hit a plateau and stopped counting calories and tracking my weight. This time will be different. I don't regret the overindulgence yesterday, since this time I'm not going to let it derail me. (And we had so much fun!)

7/27 178.2 // Although this is a gain from some of my lowest weights recently it’s a decrease in my starting weight over the last three rounds. I know that tomorrow I’m going to spend all day eating out so I’m hoping to keep my diet in check today.

7/29 178.2/ I ate out for pretty much every meal yesterday and didn’t drink enough water so this was to be expected. I’m getting back on track today and trying to rehydrate.

Hubby's bd yesterday, but I ate a lovely, healthy lunch out - grilled shrimp, salad, broccoli, one spoonful of his dessert. Yesterday evening I went for a 4-mile walk along the Maumee River on the beautiful Rivergreenway.

Splurged a little last night on ice cream and crackers (not together!) and my sodium was a little higher than usual, so no surprise. Pants I haven't worn in a while feel looser, so there's that! I've been having a lot of lower back and hip pain and blood work shows significant inflammation, so in addition to seeing a chiropractor I'm going to start an anti-inflammation cleanse in a few days. Happily, it's not very different from how I typically eat - the main things I'll have to give up are coffee (no biggee if I have my herbal teas) and chicken, which we eat fairly often. Anyway, I'm not doing it for weight loss, but will be interested to know whether it makes a difference (heavy on veggies, whole grains/no bread or grain-based pasta, and healthy fats). It's the Journey Alive 8-week cleanse program by Coralie Murphy, which is science-based and not extreme. Has anyone here done it?

Hmmm. I'm recording my moving average weights -- my actual weight has been steadily rising for the past 4 days (from 147.6 - 148.8 - 149 - 1496 - 149.8). I guess that makes sense in terms of my 10-day calorie averages (although those are actual, not net after exercise), but seems excessive. I have been sporadically taking Ibuprofen for back/hip/neck pain, so maybe water retention? I don't care that I'm not losing, but don't like the steady gains. And this hurting business has gotten old very quickly.

7/27--No weigh in. Well. When I said this round would be hard, this wasn't what I had in mind...I went to the dermatologist Thursday afternoon to address a weird burning sensation in my upper arm. Turns out I am likely in the beginning stages of shingles(!). I am a bit young to get shingles (36) although you can really get them at any age if you've had chicken pox. The doctor writes me a note and tells me not to go back to work, go home, get in bed, and stay there all weekend. Between the extensive rest and the prescription for Valtrex, we are hoping we can stop it in its tracks. So that's what I've done. I've been in bed since Thursday afternoon. It's boring and I keep thinking about the things I had planned to do this weekend. DH reminds me that stress is one of the things that leads to shingles and I need to stop worrying about household chores because they don't matter. He has been bringing me meals in bed and I am not tracking or logging anything.
7/28--177.0 Decided to visit the scale on my way to soaking in a nice Epsom salt bath; this cheered my mood. I would have expected worse. Shingles pain, by the way, is terrible, and I am now an advocate for everybody getting the shingles vaccine. It's recommended if you're over the age of 50. I did some research on diet changes that can help/hurt a case of the shingles. I have added more chicken, orange juice, and bananas to my diet, and am avoiding chocolate, caffeine, sugar, and processed carbs. So far I don't have any blisters, although my arm is very sensitive and painful. No exercise, just bed rest. I feel like this explains a lot about the past week--why I have been feeling tired and unmotivated. These can be the very first signs of shingles. Here I was beating myself up thinking I need to get back with the program, when really I had this virus starting to attack my body.
7/29--176.6 Wow, that was a needed boost. Today feeling better and I have every intention of going back to work tomorrow, we'll see...

7/31--178.0 Almost feel normal today, just a little tingling in my arm. I was back at work yesterday and after 3 1/2 days of basically bed rest, I was completely exhausted last night. Still trying to be mindful of my diet in regard to shingles and limit my activity. It seems to be working! I have 2 1/2 days of medication left.

Round 48 - goal – last round I only wanted to lose a couple pounds. Yesterday morning I decided despite my wife’s opinion to set my goal at 180. I know this is lower than my prime weight in high school, but I do not workout anymore and feel like its time to get rid of the love handles. This might take more then one 10 day round.

7/27 – 191lbs – hydration is at the highest I have ever. 56% - that may explain the one-pound gain on a day that I had very low calories. If I dieted without my daily adult beverages I would wither away to nothing. Cheers and happy weekend!!!

7/27 last night I caved. I had a double plate of dinner and a chocolate bar...or 2. I didn't exercise at all and only drank 1 liter of water. I havent been this hungry in over two weeks. What I'm trying to say is I was too scared to weigh myself this morning so I didn't. I know I should have, just to hold my self accountable but I chickened out. Well I'm jumping back in today and going to work hard to try to get whatever weight I gained yesterday off. I have noticed a 1 day a week trend where I derail, I will have to work on that, at least until I drop a good amount of weight and then I will probably reconsider the "cheat meal" idea.
7/28 --170.8 so back to my starting weight. Worked out hard yesterday and got in 1.5 liters of water. I'm impressed because my workouts are getting easier and easier from when I started...so happy about that. Last night my fiancee grabbed chips and cookies but I managed to stay away...personal win. I already feel like it's going to be a tempting weekend so I'm going to have to be extra mindful and keep up my determination. I'm also impressed because my man has been playing Pokemon go lately which means he likes to go for walks now (he hates going out and walking, grocery shopping can be a drag with him) so i have been going out and walking around more then usual..which is a plus hope everyone has a great and mindful weekend
7/29 --171 last night had a day/night out with friends, pizza and beers. Tried not to over eat or drink but it obviously still hit me. No exercising and low on the water, it's ok though could have gained more
7/30--170.6 stayed within my calorie goal and although didn't do my usual workout, I did spend the majority of my day out and about walking around so at least it's something. Drank 1.5 liters of water. Trying to stay motivated, I have been working out relentlessly for about three weeks now (slowing down within the last couple of days) and I just assumed I would have seen a higher loss by now. My eating habits have been good and my water intake has been fair. Trying to keep my head up though and push on. Hopefully after today I will finally see those 160s. I can't wait to see some sort of progress
7/31--170 slow and steady is my pace. Ate within calories, worked out and finally pushed the 2 liters of water. Mentally feeling better today so that's good. Just feeling a little bloated, why? I have no clue lol. I am so anxious to be in those 60s lol

•7/27 - 189.2 - Early weigh in. This end of round drop and beginning round overnight gain of ONE pound seems to be my trend. I'm officially in the overweight BMI category. Kind of a weird eating day for me yesterday. Went to help my niece again, but was rushed, so I threw some random food items into my lunchbag. 7/27- Out of town, no weigh in. Long road trip yesterday which meant fast food dinner. I anticipated it so I budgeted well prior to hitting the road. Opted for a kid’s meal, which helped with the calories.
7/28- Out of town, no weigh in. Peach cobbler.

7/30- 225.0 I was so apprehensive stepping on the scale this morning. I was convinced I gained 5 pounds over the weekend. What a relief! 10% body weight loss. I can’t wait til it really sticks for me to log it officially!
7/31- 224.4 Getting back in the groove. Pasta for dinner last night but still within calories. It seems that once one person noticed recent weight loss at work, others are chiming in as well.. I say thank you and move on as I’m feeling a bit self conscious.

7/27 - Friday - 192.6 - Well I self sabotaged myself last night. Didnt eat my snack, got home and went to the lake basically in avoidance mode. Starving on the way home and ordered pizza deal. Ate my hunger and my feelings. Woke up super grumpy today - stressed at work. Making a conscious effort to have a better attitude than I woke up with. Late start on water intake today. Had already planned on mexican for lunch so I'm going to enjoy it, log it, and move on. Same with last night - its over and done with. Today may not be too pretty eating wise either but honestly I'm more focused on my mental health today - I know food has a direct correlation to my mood so I'll remember that while being gentle with myself today.
7/28 - Saturday - 193.4 - Made it thru the day with minimal incidence of meltdown nor did I self sabotage - I are when I was hungry and didn't when I was full. Impromptu shopping trip with my mom today. Its bound to include lunch. I'll be present in the moment and listen to those hunger cues again. Happy saturday!
7/29 - Sunday - 194.6 - Oh restaurant food how you toy with my emotions. Not letting it get to me! Had a great day yesterday. Overindulged a bit at lunch. When I came home DH wanted to take me out on a date night for ice cream - so like any reasonable adult child in an adults body I had ice cream for dinner! I didnt spend the day feeling bad about the number, or trying to over compensate eating really well or starve myself. I just trust the process enough to know that tomorrow I'll be back on track.
7/30 - Monday - 193.2 - Ahh yes, rewarded for trusting the process. I was not perfect by any means yesterday. But I have been better about drinking my protein shake in the morning and taking my meds. Also trying to improve my NEAT. NSV's this weekend include, grocery shopping and sticking to the list, food prepped and meal planned for the week yesterday, trying on a bunch of clothes (down to a size 14 from a snug 16) and liking how I looked, handling stressful situations with more grace, and moving more in general! Oh and that pesky appraisal finally came back - it didnt let us down! So things are moving right along again, may even be able to move up closing! Onward!!!
7/31 - Tuesday - 193.2 - Finally got cracking on some cleaning/packing last night. It was a small dent - focused more on cleaning because the apartment is being shown Thursday, which I'm all worried about, because I hardly have friends over, nevermind strangers all up in my business BLAH. But it was great exercise and I made matzo ball soup for dinner before crashing. Happy to say I've cut back my eating out (this included a TON of drive thru in the past) to probably a quarter or less of what I used to do. Cooking at home doesn't have to be hard - and I'm relying on lots of different products to help make it easier. Like steam bag veggies, a frozen meal for lunch, tuna pouches, and bag salads. I try to eat local and organic as much as I can but lets be real...life is crazy and there is nothing wrong with having some help a long the way!

@no1racefan1 - I had shingles when I was about 44. Blisters and all, yeah, painful doesn't even touch it. Mine was stress and overdoing workouts (just my guess)

I was expecting a loss but did a double-take when I saw the number in the scale. Can’t remember the last time I was this low. I had steak with corn on the cob for dinner—plenty of butter, salt & pepper on the corn! It’s not excess sodium causing weight gain—it’s excess calories.
Had a decently active day yesterday. Made it to the gym, kept eating within calorie limits.
Can’t believe it’s almost Aug—I don’t have any trips planned. I’m tempted to join the August Ultimate Accountabilty Challenge. I did it in May and managed to lose 5.2 lbs.8 -

June Notes: I had one day where I weighed in at 104.4.
July Notes: I finally found my strength when I started to practice. What does that mean? If you want to play the piano, you have to practice. A lot actually, right? You can't just play Beethoven after 1 lesson. You need to practice a TON to get that! Well, isn't it the same with food. If you don't practice a few things, you will never master them.
I had been in a state where I was practicing eating / nibbling All the time. My weight showed it and so did my mindset. So, after listening to a podcast from the primal potential, I started to practice NOT eating between meals.
Yeah, eating breakfast, nothing until noon, then lunch and nothing until 6pm. What I found out is that its HIGHLY uncomfortable NOT to nibble but at the end of the day...- I'm happier when I get home at night
- I'm happier the next morning because I didn't graze my way through the day
- I'm happier because I feel less bloated
- I sleep better
- I have more energy
- I feel joyful
The first 2 weeks were hard, I'm not gonna lie about that. But, isn't most practicing hard the first 2 weeks? Then, its gotten easier. its not a breeze yet, but I've come to realize that I enjoy not nibbling MORE than I enjoy having food all the time.

7/27 157.8 I am not sure how everyone else counts their loss for a round, but I am taking today's starting weight as my ending weight for last round, which means I met my goal for the round! I have been wanting to share with all of you how much it means to me to be able to read about your progress, your stumbles, your victories and your challenges. We so often look around us and don't realize how alike we all are. I used to feel like I was the only one who struggled, everyone else had it all together. This diverse group that we are, men, women, younger and not, we are all very much alike and it really helps me to share my daily *stuff* here with you. Love you all!!
7/28 159 I know that although I have been logging I have been estimating too much. Yesterday I made the tradeoff to have a relaxed day with my son which meant eating off plan with him, necessary I think for him if that makes sense. He convinced me to buy some paint since I have a stack of canvases sitting for over a year, I love to paint but have been off that path for a while, not feeling creative. Weight gain and unconscious eating does more to me than make me fat. It takes away my creativity, me sex drive, my joy, my desire to do more, all things I am noticing now as they come back. Thanks to being inspired by @mthomas0288 and her workout challenges I signed up for a free 30 day workout and *yikes* start today. I am excited to see what the next 30 days brings, since I am realizing that weight loss alone will not give me the results I want in my body.

7/27: 324.2 Off to a good start. Need to get back to drinking more water. I haven’t been doing that the last two days. The one thing I have found out that is working is I don’t snack after dinner anymore. I used to always get a late night snack before bed, but now I have nothing or if I do it’s a hot cup of tea. No food though. I think that helped with the high loss last round. Need to keep that trend going.
7/28: 322.2 Well, this is a total shock. I didn't track my food at all yesterday. May have injured my left Achilles the other day at the gym, so I was unable to workout yesterday. Hurt to walk. Hoping it's not serious. Anyway, not being able to workout put me in a funk all day. Grabbed Wendy's for lunch--though I did get grilled chicken sandwich. Had a healthier dinner and stuck to not having any snacks before bed so that may have helped. Going to rest this weekend then start back at the gym Monday if feeling better.
7/29: 321.2 I had a good Saturday. I met friends for breakfast out, but made smart choices. I avoided the hash browns and ate tomatoes instead. (Wasn’t as hard to give it up as I thought considering I LOVE starchy foods). Lunch went well with fruits, cream cheese & bagel chips, and avocado. Even though my foot was still hurting, I was able to get my walk in. Skipped the gym and went shopping instead. Have to love retail therapy!

Finished the evening off with a greek salad and cup of soup while having an outdoor movie night. Then a hot cup of tea when I got home. Still need to work on getting my water in. Haven’t been meeting my goal on that lately. Going to try harder next week on that. The no snacking after dinner is doing wonders though. The late night cup of tea instead of binging on carbs/junk food has made all the difference in the world. All in all, not a bad weekend so far.
7/30: 321.5 Not a great day. Still unable to exercise because of my injury. Getting very frustrated. Had a big dinner. Ate more at that sitting than I have since the beginning of round 47. Need to get my head back in the game and maybe schedule a doctors appointment to take care of this Achilles pain.
7/31: 321.5 At least there wasn’t a gain. Did better on lunch and dinner. Will get back to exercise soon hopefully.

7/19: 327.6 Well, I never expected that to happen. Incredibly surprised! Did well on my breakfast and lunch,
dinner not so much. I was so mentally and physically tired that I stopped at Wendy's on the way
home. Knew it was the wrong thing to do. I do this all the time--too tired to fix a meal so I stop for
fast food. This is where my trouble always starts. So, now that I have identified my major problem, I
have to work on the solution. After some research last night, I think meal prep on the weekend for the work
week will do wonders for me. I don't have to worry about "what to do" for dinner after a stressful day
at work. I can just come home and pop it in the oven/microwave and there I go! I will say the one
thing that is working for me is drinking water. It has gotten a lot easier to drink so much of it as
long as I put some limes in it.
7/20: 327.6 Well, no loss but I’ll take it. Did have pasta for dinner and I love my pasta! Need to work on portion size though.
7/21: 327.8 Pasta again. Love my pasta, but need to be more disciplined when it comes to portion size.
7/22: 326.8 Did really well today. Made good food choices. Need to keep with this trend.
7/23: 326.8 I’m happy about this weigh-in. Good weekend—went out with friends to a “Mary Poppins” themed tea party and then out to eat with family. Made smart choices, so I’m satisfied. Starting exercise today. See how that plays into the next weigh-in.
7/24: 326.8 First time back at the gym went pretty well. Went slow so I wouldn’t risk injury by doing too much too fast. Felt good afterwards. Then towards evening it hit me. My body screaming at me, “WHAT DID YOU DO?!!” 🤣😂 The soreness has eased up this morning. Just have to remember that it will get better. The more exercise I do, the better I’ll feel.
7/25: 325.6 Nice to see some moment after three days sitting at the same weight. I’m actually looking forward to seeing the final numbers at the end of this challenge. It’s my first time doing this and I have to say having the support of this community along with keeping myself honest with check-ins and food tracking has helped a great deal.
7/26: 324.6 This has been a great experience. I’ve never been excited about getting healthy before. I’d always start off great then just give up if I had a rough couple of days. The difference this time has been this community. The encouragement and support has made all the difference in the world. Reading about your journeys has made me realize there is no quick fix. This isn’t just another diet. This is a lifestyle change. I am becoming the person I was meant to be. Yes, there will be bad days. That’s just life. I need to acknowledge that then let it go and start anew the very next day with a clean slate instead of bogged down in quilt. I want to thank everyone here for their support. About me: 61, 5'7", in maintenance since March this year. Serial loser and regainer of 20 and determined not to slide back up this time.
Round 47 report: Rethinking my goals at this time. My range was 125-130; I am now at the bottom end and still happy to lose slowly; I don't want to exceed 127 by much unless it's serious muscle gain. Some nice hard cardio last week in spite of the muggy gym.
Round 48 GOAL = Maintain weight 121-127, get some nice workouts in.
7/27 - 125.0 - yesterday feeling meh and came home from work. At maintenance calories, no workout.
7/28 - 126.6 - yesterday (Friday) wildfires started near our valley, called in to work at 10PM for a few hours, home at 1PM. Did get 10K steps in but food wise an extreme day.
7/29 - 126.6 - yesterday (Saturday) tired and stressy, food choices were just don't care tbh
7/30 - 128.4 - yesterday (Sunday) we took 2 separate power outages totaling 8 hours, work issues and concern about friends caused anxiety, food choices again were do not care and comfort me please. I did not log the past several days. I am going to draw a line and log now starting today.
Ironic that the second I decide that my top of range is 127, I go over it.

7/27-193- Kind of just hanging out here. Gym: Chest day with running my dog. Going away for the weekend to my hubby ex hunting ground to pick up his stands so I won’t be weigh in over the weekend. Hope I can keep myself in check. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
