27/07: 168.2 : Goals ✅ Spent hours working in the garden yesterday.
28/07: 167.9 : Goals ✅ Trying to tame my jungle of a garden. Also had a late evening walk.
29/07: 167.8 : Goals ✅ Sundays always seem to lead to a little upward bounce. I visit family and Hubster produced a delicious roast beef dinner tonight. Still under goal, and drinking lots of water, but past expectation leads me to expect the worst tomorrow morning.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
Stick with the process. It DOES work! But it does take time, effort, and most of all, patience!

7/27: 69.5 - Really?! REALLY?! I've been gunning for 69.5 for the last two rounds and you wait until the day that I've decided to up my round goal weight to something definitely achievable (with current trends) to dump this one on me. I know I shouldn't be annoyed by a lower number, but I'm pretty sure my body is just trolling me on this one. Anyway: Yesterday was a really good day, started off looking like it was only going to be an okay day, but then I wasn't very hungry at breakfast and saved half for later, meaning I wasn't as hungry for lunch and didn't eat it all, meant I gained about 150kcals more in the bank than I expected. A yummy (and surprisingly low calorie) spag bol and pasta for dinner still left me under calories, so I had some watermelon and icecream for dessert (YUM!) And was still under daily goal. 76g of protein for the day
7/28: 69.9 - TOM has reared it's ugly head proving, once again, that my body doesn't run in nice even patterns. However, does help account for my super massive cravings last round that were doing their very best to try and mess me up (and those consistent days of 70.5). Anyhoos: happy to be staying under 70kg again. Yesterday was pretty good right up until evening. I had a reasonably stressful day at work so I think I did well to not binge on all the chocolate that I really wanted to during the day (heck I even had a slice of watermelon as a snack instead). Then we went and looked at puppies, and got pie and chips on the way home. Which put me over calories. But not over maintenance. Then my partner put more chips in the oven and did far too much for him so I ate some more because food waste. Pushing me to about maintenance. Not great but not awful day... 56g of protein for the day.
7/29: 69.5 - Lots of Judo and wasn't at all hungry most of the day. Barely ate up to my normal goal, let alone any of my exercise calories. Saving them for Sunday. 73g of protein for the day
7/30: 69.6 - Went out for what was supposed to be a pub lunch, and turned into a Indian lunch (pub wasn't doing food). Made sensible food choices and avoided the enormous naan bread and just went with rice, curry and onion bhaji. Stopped eating when I felt full. Ate tea at my parents, and was really not very hungry so got away with eating only a very small amount (and a reasonable amount of that was salad). However still had to guesstimate on the entries/quantities in the diary for almost all of the food today. I think I over estimated, but it's hard to guess. Calories were well over goal, but considering the exercise calories I hadn't eaten from the day before, it probably worked out about level. Also, with some calculation: my 7 day average is now officially under 70kg (69.9, still counts!) 102g of protein for the day.
7/31: 69.6 - More Judo death yesterday. Trained super hard and felt really good on it. Actually ate back some of my exercise calories yesterday which had everything to do with the fact that we had welsh cakes in the cupboard (I just love welsh cakes). Still in deficit. 87g of protein for the day.
8/01: 69.3 - I have not been expecting this kind of progress this round, but don't get me wrong, I'm very much enjoying it. Will probably rise a little tomorrow, but I'm able to dream that I might be able to reach 68.x by the end of this round. Unlikely, but a novel concept. Felt hungry all day yesterday and am very glad I stayed under my allotted calories. Planned my dinner around the fact that I wanted to eat a cake for dessert. Not a very good day at all for protein though. 45g of protein for the day. A really very good day for non scale victories yesterday as well: While surfing the sale rack I found the same pair of jeans I'm currently wearing (and am feeling a little big on me right now), but in the size down. Not only was I able to actually put them on and button them up. They actually looked good. They were probably a little small if I was to have bought them now, but oh so very close to fitting perfectly. Another one: I tried on my motorbike trousers for the first time in about 2 months. They were definitely a bit big for me (I now need braces to stop them from falling down). However, the biggest thing about that is that when I bought them, way back in February, I had to take out the extra little bit of padding that sat on the hips, as they dug into my sides when I was straddling the bike. And they were literally the only trousers that actually fit me at all comfortably, so that was the compromise I had to make. I put them back in yesterday. Because I could spread my legs easily without them pulling and being uncomfortable.

Finally under the 380 mark. Next goal is to get into the 360s. Easy enough right? Had some pretty good exercise yesterday. I had to unload 40 75 lb blocks for my retaining wall off a trailer yesterday and then went for a couple mile walk. I ate really well and I'm pretty happy. Well I am sort of mad that I can't find any of my Beachbody CDs and I don't know who has them

7/27 - 188.2 - I got kicked out of ketosis and ate like it for a few days. I'm less concerned with the weight gain, knowing that it is mostly water, but I am bothered by how physically awful I feel. One positive outcome of the last few days, it reaffirmed that I feel better physically eating low carb. I am back on track today and excited to get back to it.
7/28 - 187.3 - I ate low carb but didn't track. I was short on my water yesterday. Today's goals will be to eat LCHF and hit my water goal.
7/29 - 187.0 - I did better with my water intake yesterday and stayed on track with LCHF. Today I am going to go try to add back in some exercise.
7/30 - 185.7 - I'm beginning to feel better physically. I didn't get in any exercise yesterday, but I'm going to go for a run today.
7/31 - 185.7 - Staying the same is better than going up. Today I am going to try cutting out processed food and be better at tracking. I've only been kind of tracking. I've been planning my food, but not sticking to the plan. I've been sticking to low carb, but I know I'll see better results if I stick to my food plan.
8/01 - 184.6 - I went for a run, drank a ton of water, and ate LCHF all day but I didn't track again. I am going to attempt to track again today.

7/27 - 221.2 - Went out with an old friend and only had one beer. Passed on the charcuterie plate that I wanted bad, but those are the make or break moments.
7/28- 220.2 - Had 600 calories of pizza last night with 2 glasses of red wine, just ate lightly rest of the day and stayed within 1550 calories. Some foods are out of the question though since the calorie/enjoyment trade off is low. See ya' soda and muffins.
7/29 - 220.6 - Ate out last night, very hard to count calories at restaurants. I went overboard on some kind of oily garlic bread. Then got more of the same bread with entree, didn't know it was coming. Still not a bad day.
7/30 -219.6.6 - Out of the 220's two days short of goal. Next plan is to be out of 210s by Sept 1st for a vacation. Doable, but almost no room for error.
7/31- 218.8 - Bad cereal and milk seems to be my biggest trigger food - by far the worst hunger that I offset with a salad. I wish it wasn't in the house but my wife eats it.
8/1- 217.8 - I got a new scale because the old one was +/- .8. New scale seems to be a pound less than the old one hence the big drop.

7/27: 219.6 Wooot back to my lowest weight that I was a week ago, dang I missed those numbers! Must have been retaining water!
7/28: 219.2 Really surprised I had a loss today!
7/29: 218.6 OMG I ate terrible yesterday, I logged everything and was just a little over but how did I lose?? I am so surprised!
7/30: 218.6 Happy it's not a gain, I'm so tired. Wondering if my weigh ins are better when I've slept longer. On the 27th woke up at 6:10, 28th 7:30 29th 8:30, today the 30th 6:10.
7/31: 217.8 10 Day Goal Met!!!! This is really exciting, I have never met a weightloss goal before!! (This may be a repost, I posted earlier or at least I thought I did lol)
8/01: 217.2 I am continuously surprised that losing weight can feel easy, and that I don't feel deprived. This has never been my experience.

7/27 - 158.5 - I was going to gripe about being this weight for almost 8 days straight, especially since I've stayed real close to my weight loss calories. Then I realized because of our out of town visitors, I've had food that is higher in sodium, I haven't been walking as much, and water has not been my drink of choice. We've got one last barbecue planned for this weekend and then they'll leave on Sunday. I need to enjoy this weekend and not worry about what the scale says. Last week, before they came, I was hoping to maintain and I need to be happy that I did.

7/29 - 161 - Well, 158.5 looks pretty good right now! I had a little of everything at our picnic yesterday and several drinks, so this is no surprise. I have figured out that exactly 11 years ago I had dieted to 157 lbs. I hit a plateau and stopped counting calories and tracking my weight. This time will be different. I don't regret the overindulgence yesterday, since this time I'm not going to let it derail me. (And we had so much fun!)

•7/27 - 189.2 - Early weigh in. This end of round drop and beginning round overnight gain of ONE pound seems to be my trend. I'm officially in the overweight BMI category. Kind of a weird eating day for me yesterday. Went to help my niece again, but was rushed, so I threw some random food items into my lunchbag. •8/1 - 186.8 - Early weigh in. It's unbelievable that its August already! Yesterday was my last day of increased carbohydrates. 46g carbs, 35g net carbs. Broccoli, salad greens, sunflower seeds, fresh peach. I didn't eat anything that I had planned until 5:30 pm. My niece held me up briefly in the a.m. from running my errands. She asked me to watch her children for a short time and I did. I wasn't hungry until after I left the house, about 1 p.m. Bought some sunflower seeds to stave off my hunger for a couple of hours. Didn't drink enough water throughout the day. Changed up my planned meals a bit, because my eating time was shortened. *My third day back to intermittent fasting. Took a month off.* Made a semi chef's salad, forgot to boil eggs. 😕 Felt stuffed after eating, but specifically after eating that peach. BUT, no more fresh peaches until next summer, so it's all good. I hope to keep carbs under 20- 25 grams today.

Round 48 - goal – last round I only wanted to lose a couple pounds. Yesterday morning I decided despite my wife’s opinion to set my goal at 180. I know this is lower than my prime weight in high school, but I do not workout anymore and feel like its time to get rid of the love handles. This might take more then one 10 day round.

7/27 – 191lbs – hydration is at the highest I have ever. 56% - that may explain the one-pound gain on a day that I had very low calories. If I dieted without my daily adult beverages I would wither away to nothing. Cheers and happy weekend!!!
7/28 – up early and off to lake Michigan for fishing and drinking.
7/29 – feeling yesterday. So tired. Going to bed early.
7/30 – forgot to weight naked. Weight with clothes on is looking very bad. 7 pounds swing in the wrong direction
7/31 – 191lbs – okay that’s better. Not sure what happened over the weekend. I am blaming the 2 bee stings on Sunday. I am quite allergic to them.
8/1 - 188.8lbs - okay I guess the swelling on my back has gone away. Despite having 4 slices of crappy pizza and adult beverages muchos. Maybe by tomorrow I will be ready for another hard weekend. 3 days on the boat fishing, drinking, and eating. Hopefully we win some cash from this tournament.

This round I am not particularly aiming to lose, although losing would be fine. I'm aiming for good food, good exercise, and healing of my back and neck issues. Everything else is bonus!

Hubby's bd yesterday, but I ate a lovely, healthy lunch out - grilled shrimp, salad, broccoli, one spoonful of his dessert. Yesterday evening I went for a 4-mile walk along the Maumee River on the beautiful Rivergreenway.

Splurged a little last night on ice cream and crackers (not together!) and my sodium was a little higher than usual, so no surprise. Pants I haven't worn in a while feel looser, so there's that! I've been having a lot of lower back and hip pain and blood work shows significant inflammation, so in addition to seeing a chiropractor I'm going to start an anti-inflammation cleanse in a few days. Happily, it's not very different from how I typically eat - the main things I'll have to give up are coffee (no biggee if I have my herbal teas) and chicken, which we eat fairly often. Anyway, I'm not doing it for weight loss, but will be interested to know whether it makes a difference (heavy on veggies, whole grains/no bread or grain-based pasta, and healthy fats). It's the Journey Alive 8-week cleanse program by Coralie Murphy, which is science-based and not extreme. Has anyone here done it?

Hmmm. I'm recording my moving average weights -- my actual weight has been steadily rising for the past 4 days (from 147.6 - 148.8 - 149 - 1496 - 149.8). I guess that makes sense in terms of my 10-day calorie averages (although those are actual, not net after exercise), but seems excessive. I have been sporadically taking Ibuprofen for back/hip/neck pain, so maybe water retention? I don't care that I'm not losing, but don't like the steady gains. And this hurting business has gotten old very quickly.

My actual weight has come back down .4, so I'm sure the increase is water from NSAIDs. I'm still researching anti-inflammatory regimes, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to start by cutting wheat, milk, and added sugars (which I get very few of anyway). 7/27 last night I caved. I had a double plate of dinner and a chocolate bar...or 2. I didn't exercise at all and only drank 1 liter of water. I havent been this hungry in over two weeks. What I'm trying to say is I was too scared to weigh myself this morning so I didn't. I know I should have, just to hold my self accountable but I chickened out. Well I'm jumping back in today and going to work hard to try to get whatever weight I gained yesterday off. I have noticed a 1 day a week trend where I derail, I will have to work on that, at least until I drop a good amount of weight and then I will probably reconsider the "cheat meal" idea.
7/28 --170.8 so back to my starting weight. Worked out hard yesterday and got in 1.5 liters of water. I'm impressed because my workouts are getting easier and easier from when I started...so happy about that. Last night my fiancee grabbed chips and cookies but I managed to stay away...personal win. I already feel like it's going to be a tempting weekend so I'm going to have to be extra mindful and keep up my determination. I'm also impressed because my man has been playing Pokemon go lately which means he likes to go for walks now (he hates going out and walking, grocery shopping can be a drag with him) so i have been going out and walking around more then usual..which is a plus hope everyone has a great and mindful weekend
7/29 --171 last night had a day/night out with friends, pizza and beers. Tried not to over eat or drink but it obviously still hit me. No exercising and low on the water, it's ok though could have gained more
7/30--170.6 stayed within my calorie goal and although didn't do my usual workout, I did spend the majority of my day out and about walking around so at least it's something. Drank 1.5 liters of water. Trying to stay motivated, I have been working out relentlessly for about three weeks now (slowing down within the last couple of days) and I just assumed I would have seen a higher loss by now. My eating habits have been good and my water intake has been fair. Trying to keep my head up though and push on. Hopefully after today I will finally see those 160s. I can't wait to see some sort of progress
7/31--170 slow and steady is my pace. Ate within calories, worked out and finally pushed the 2 liters of water. Mentally feeling better today so that's good. Just feeling a little bloated, why? I have no clue lol. I am so anxious to be in those 60s lol
8/01-- 168.8 Wooooooooot!!! Had to check three times lol. I exercised good yesterday, ate under my calories and 1.7 liters of water. I hope this sticks and isn't one of those weigh ins that only lasts for the day. Mind you I feel good about it because I slowly got here.... so happy!!! Another plus, slept good last night and I don't feel bloated anymore.

7/27: 324.2 Off to a good start. Need to get back to drinking more water. I haven’t been doing that the last two days. The one thing I have found out that is working is I don’t snack after dinner anymore. I used to always get a late night snack before bed, but now I have nothing or if I do it’s a hot cup of tea. No food though. I think that helped with the high loss last round. Need to keep that trend going.
7/28: 322.2 Well, this is a total shock. I didn't track my food at all yesterday. May have injured my left Achilles the other day at the gym, so I was unable to workout yesterday. Hurt to walk. Hoping it's not serious. Anyway, not being able to workout put me in a funk all day. Grabbed Wendy's for lunch--though I did get grilled chicken sandwich. Had a healthier dinner and stuck to not having any snacks before bed so that may have helped. Going to rest this weekend then start back at the gym Monday if feeling better.
7/29: 321.2 I had a good Saturday. I met friends for breakfast out, but made smart choices. I avoided the hash browns and ate tomatoes instead. (Wasn’t as hard to give it up as I thought considering I LOVE starchy foods). Lunch went well with fruits, cream cheese & bagel chips, and avocado. Even though my foot was still hurting, I was able to get my walk in. Skipped the gym and went shopping instead. Have to love retail therapy!

Finished the evening off with a greek salad and cup of soup while having an outdoor movie night. Then a hot cup of tea when I got home. Still need to work on getting my water in. Haven’t been meeting my goal on that lately. Going to try harder next week on that. The no snacking after dinner is doing wonders though. The late night cup of tea instead of binging on carbs/junk food has made all the difference in the world. All in all, not a bad weekend so far.
7/30: 321.5 Not a great day. Still unable to exercise because of my injury. Getting very frustrated. Had a big dinner. Ate more at that sitting than I have since the beginning of round 47. Need to get my head back in the game and maybe schedule a doctors appointment to take care of this Achilles pain.
7/31: 321.5 At least there wasn’t a gain. Did better on lunch and dinner. Will get back to exercise soon hopefully.
8/01: 321.5 Well, I seem to be stuck here. Still not drinking enough water. I seem to get to busy and forget all about that throughout the day. I also miss exercising. Have to lay off that for awhile until I'm walking better. I do miss it though and that's something I never would have said before. I guess that's an improvement in itself.

7/19: 327.6 Well, I never expected that to happen. Incredibly surprised! Did well on my breakfast and lunch,
dinner not so much. I was so mentally and physically tired that I stopped at Wendy's on the way
home. Knew it was the wrong thing to do. I do this all the time--too tired to fix a meal so I stop for
fast food. This is where my trouble always starts. So, now that I have identified my major problem, I
have to work on the solution. After some research last night, I think meal prep on the weekend for the work
week will do wonders for me. I don't have to worry about "what to do" for dinner after a stressful day
at work. I can just come home and pop it in the oven/microwave and there I go! I will say the one
thing that is working for me is drinking water. It has gotten a lot easier to drink so much of it as
long as I put some limes in it.
7/20: 327.6 Well, no loss but I’ll take it. Did have pasta for dinner and I love my pasta! Need to work on portion size though.
7/21: 327.8 Pasta again. Love my pasta, but need to be more disciplined when it comes to portion size.

7/23: 326.8 I’m happy about this weigh-in. Good weekend—went out with friends to a “Mary Poppins” themed tea party and then out to eat with family. Made smart choices, so I’m satisfied. Starting exercise today. See how that plays into the next weigh-in.
7/24: 326.8 First time back at the gym went pretty well. Went slow so I wouldn’t risk injury by doing too much too fast. Felt good afterwards. Then towards evening it hit me. My body screaming at me, “WHAT DID YOU DO?!!” 🤣😂 The soreness has eased up this morning. Just have to remember that it will get better. The more exercise I do, the better I’ll feel.
7/25: 325.6 Nice to see some moment after three days sitting at the same weight. I’m actually looking forward to seeing the final numbers at the end of this challenge. It’s my first time doing this and I have to say having the support of this community along with keeping myself honest with check-ins and food tracking has helped a great deal.
7/26: 324.6 This has been a great experience. I’ve never been excited about getting healthy before. I’d always start off great then just give up if I had a rough couple of days. The difference this time has been this community. The encouragement and support has made all the difference in the world. Reading about your journeys has made me realize there is no quick fix. This isn’t just another diet. This is a lifestyle change. I am becoming the person I was meant to be. Yes, there will be bad days. That’s just life. I need to acknowledge that then let it go and start anew the very next day with a clean slate instead of bogged down in quilt. I want to thank everyone here for their support. This round starting weight was 333.0 and as of this morning I am at 324.6. I hit my goal and then some. I looking forward to the next round!15 -

@grebber1 I am all for the home cooked meals, you get so much more from a homemade salad then a pre made one, it's the same for the pre made meals like lean cuisine. I know it's tempting because it's so easy but making your own allows you more calories, less salts and sugars and potentially more food (the amount of food isn't worth the additions that you take in) I have personally never been a frozen food person but at the same time I do understand long days and long hours and being too tired and hungry to attempt waiting the 40 odd minutes plus prep to make food, without giving in to another sort of snacking instead (which has also been my downfall) so I do suggest keeping a couple for those off days that you wont have the time and just need an easy meal, its better then the alternative (like in my case) snacking.4 -

7/27--No weigh in. Well. When I said this round would be hard, this wasn't what I had in mind...I went to the dermatologist Thursday afternoon to address a weird burning sensation in my upper arm. Turns out I am likely in the beginning stages of shingles(!). I am a bit young to get shingles (36) although you can really get them at any age if you've had chicken pox. The doctor writes me a note and tells me not to go back to work, go home, get in bed, and stay there all weekend. Between the extensive rest and the prescription for Valtrex, we are hoping we can stop it in its tracks. So that's what I've done. I've been in bed since Thursday afternoon. It's boring and I keep thinking about the things I had planned to do this weekend. DH reminds me that stress is one of the things that leads to shingles and I need to stop worrying about household chores because they don't matter. He has been bringing me meals in bed and I am not tracking or logging anything.
7/28--177.0 Decided to visit the scale on my way to soaking in a nice Epsom salt bath; this cheered my mood. I would have expected worse. Shingles pain, by the way, is terrible, and I am now an advocate for everybody getting the shingles vaccine. It's recommended if you're over the age of 50. I did some research on diet changes that can help/hurt a case of the shingles. I have added more chicken, orange juice, and bananas to my diet, and am avoiding chocolate, caffeine, sugar, and processed carbs. So far I don't have any blisters, although my arm is very sensitive and painful. No exercise, just bed rest. I feel like this explains a lot about the past week--why I have been feeling tired and unmotivated. These can be the very first signs of shingles. Here I was beating myself up thinking I need to get back with the program, when really I had this virus starting to attack my body.

@grebber1 I used to be a big fan of WW meals and stocked a friend’s freezer when I visited once. She was still working and I would be at her place all day with no car so they were my breakfast/lunch. It was then I realized that every one of those had a large starchy component. Why was I eating starch at every meal?? I found Keto about 16 months ago and started researching it. I started 12.5 months ago. I feel better than I have in decades. Several sources have said our food pyramid is upside down and I believe it! I have had very few “bread” products in the last year and when I did indulge on our cruise in April, they just didn’t taste good anymore so why eat them?3

Triple check time. Didn’t believe it when I saw the number so re-checked. I had session with my trainer this morning and weight on gym scale was also 127.6 lbs. Feels good! Loving IF.12 -

@quiltingjaine thanks for your input. I'm currently looking into keto myself. I might give it a try pretty soon. I'm slowly transitioning that way starting today with what I already have around the house. Using mfp to keep track of my carbs and ive noticed I have been pretty high in that area. Working on evening carbs, protein and fat out better then eventually cutting carbs down even more once I get a better grasp of keto and ultimately decide that's what I'm going to do.
