Currently i am unable to take vacation October through mid November, and I'm still on the mend. But spring would be doable. We all should just go to Hawaii for a relay, then Alaska. Ooo I wanna do one at night when its light.
I love this idea. I had a thought that we could do some type of 24-hour virtual relay across the globe, so that for 24 hours someone is always running. We could sign up for 30 or 60 minute time slots and take and post an after pic. One of our local running stores does something like this to celebrate global running day and it’s pretty cool. Since we have quite a few time zones represented here, I think it could work. I also know of at least one or two MRC members who like to run in the middle of the night 😉 I love the idea of a traditional team relay race as well too!
Not a bad idea!0 -
5 miles on trails. Legs day yesterday and today my legs felt like two whiny toddlers whose mom was dragging them through the grocery store. For the first two miles, anyway, after that they sort of lightened up. Still, pretty slow.
The weather report has been saying it was going to rain and then cool off for two weeks now. No rain and no cool.
And that's goal for me, which means I am headed for my stretch goal of fifty miles.7 -
They dropped the smoke alert! Hooray! It's supposed to come back in a day or two but the race should be relatively clear with an air quality rating of 4.
Gonna be going for a PR this time.16 -
Ok. I think we have something we can work with...
And most importantly, i believe it to be accurate.
Options are:
1. Pick your poison, er full race. @MobyCarp i added Boston since its a prestigious race. And assigned it to you.
2. There's a column to express interest in a group relay race.
3. The sheets by state are not complete. But i expect these to be maybe for those that want to run 2357.2 miles. A distance equal his marathon distance. 🤔 😪🤯 Or a group goal or cumulative race distances. Or not at all... Hey its a work in progress.
4. I also added a column so if you'd like to run 26.2 miles in his shoes (run the same race he ran). Its easily identified. Although, some states he ran multiple venues. So be sure to check athlinks.

@Elise4270 - spreadsheet is missing the state of NJ.
I will be running Pittsburgh but seems he already has that I will have to poke around for another one and see what I can pull off.1 -
Awesome work @Elise4270 I'm definitely keen for a 24hr relay if anyone else is keen!
I took my new shoes for a run this morning. I wasn't sure what distance I was going for given my sporadic training the last 2 weeks. I did 4.5 km then saw an old friend out walking who had a stroke a few years ago so my 5th km was a bit slow as I walked with her a bit. Consequently I only did the 5 and a bit km. But good news, no niggles, the shoes fit like socks, good thing too given their design. Google them, they are... Unique (under armour hovr phantom).
When I massaged my legs after the run I actually had less pain than I've had in a week... So fingers crossed!
This week I'll be keeping it light, maybe do a couple of 7s, a 5 and then an 8 on the weekend. I'm at conference from Thursday till Sunday, then Monday is officially the start of HM training!9 -

I plan to run a race in Hawaii, somewhere, at some point. But not sure I'll be up to a marathon.
I saw relay in Hawaii. I'm adding possibilities to sheet, easy to plan something. Dh is all over it. "Where we going?".....
Yall feel free to add info columns, tweak it... I'm trudging through the states so we can add our miles in his memory.
Sorry Australia and UK. I haven added sheets yet. But if anyone wants to pick up where im about to pass out and leave off, I'd love to wake up to finished work. 😲1 -

One cool thing that happened was in the forest trail section. I was running along and looked over to see a dragonfly passing me. He was big and beautiful, really detailed coloration, and was going along the path just a little faster than me. So I said, "Ok, I'll race you," and sped up. So then we were going at the same speed, staying right with each other. It was so surreal, at one point I just reached my hand out towards him because he was right there. But I didn't want to touch him and interrupt his flight path, so kept my hand about an inch away. The whole thing probably lasted only about 20 seconds, and then he took off into the woods, but WOW that was cool.
That is so cool. I love dragonflies. Envious!!3 -

Had a fab Xterra event this morning. After a week of cold, wet and wild weather, the sun came out and it was fresh and still this morning. I wasn't feeling particularly energetic but have learned that this is a good thing for me on race day as it means I won't start too fast. Given the extraordinary amount of rain we've had in the last few weeks, the trail was surprisingly dry, with just a few muddy patches that could largely be avoided. Where we weren't running on gravel roads or leaf covered paths alongside the river, we were on mountain bike tracks which had awesome cambers to make running around tight corners fast and fun. Not too many hills either, thankfully, although there was a particularly long and arduous set of stairs about 1.5km from the end which was challenging!! All in all, a perfect day out!

Nice short easy run this morning to meet my week's goal and warm the legs up a little after yesterday's strength training session. My shins appear to be behaving still, don't know whether it has anything to do with the fact that I'm making a point of sitting with some of those gel cold compresses you can cool in the fridge drapped down the front of my legs for a while every day or just pot luck. Adding another half a kilometre to my long run (yes I know to most of you my long runs are just a warm up or easy day, I'm working on it gradually lol) on Tuesday, we shall see what they say then.
Re the marathons for Dennis, I am nowhere near able to run a marathon but I'm doing a half in December and if I survive and like it another in March.... that would cover at least half of Spain?

The hardest hours for the US time zones to fill are probably not the overnights as much as common working hours - like 8am-5pm0 -
I'd love to help with the 24-hr relay - what a great idea. I'm on central time, with Sat, Sun & Mon off.
Signed up for another race - a Viking Dash in Toledo. Bling is Thor's Hammer - I'm a sucker. My husband and I started thinking of Viking costumes to wear - and although we had a good laugh, I can't imagine running 13 miles wearing all that!
June goal - 44/44
July goal - 52/52
August goal - 33/57 miles
Sept. 30 - Wineglass Half Marathon; Corning, NY
October 7 - Viking Dash Half Marathon; Toledo, OH5 -

That brings up another point. If we do this, we should do all times in UTC/GMT to prevent timezone mix-ups.

I work from home on contract so can also run during the work day. Not for eight hours straight, though!4 -
PastorVincent wrote: »I have no way to know for sure, but let's just say some of the posts are suspicious and leave it at that.
That's why I don't get involved in many challenges. When you see someone posting multiple 100km/64 mile runs 5/7hr during a week you get rather suspicions. The math does not work ( 100km/7hr = 14km/hr ; 100/5= 20km/hr) for multiple days at the mega distances - without injury. To me the speed indicates a bicycle, motorbike or car ride being logged as a run. Probably the same people who loose their ankle fobs/bibs at events (triathlon, running etc) can't be spotted in any mid race photo's at race's but still get BQ times. It's one thing to have an entry mistake ( I have a bike ride logged in Strava as a run giving me a 1km PB of 4:38 and 1 mile 7:34) . To correct it I need to go to the premium version or delete the days activities and I would rather spend that money on running shoes. Since I have publicly stated that the time is wrong on multiple occasions my conscious is clear. My 5k, 10k and HM times are correct Chip time verified or picture of my watch face.
A little 6km walk run on the local Misery Mtn Ski Hill with 232m of Elevation previewing the course for the Sept 15 Miserable Miles obstacle race. Someone was out with a mower and knocked the grass down to a manageable ankle/knee high rather than the normal waist high at this time of year. Took me just over 58 minutes with all the up/down roller coaster trails.
Got in some awesome speed work on the last km - just the perfect slope and could see the ground so the footing confidence was very high. Did all the obstacle loops so I would get the same distance as the actual event. Managed to get across the balance beams with only one fall. Hot and smoky but still a nice day on the hill. Really hope BC gets some rain to help knock down the forest fires. The downhill portion gets a little steep on the Black Diamond Ski Trail.

Well.... 3 man team. be super nice if we can get two teams. I'll take 2 seconds for DH to pull that trigger. So, if you are up for it? You, me, Eric can be one team. Now if someone else can come, Eric would't mind running his own race. So we have him if we need him.
Is it possible for anyone else to join us for Hawaii in January? I know that trip can be financially challenging, but heck we have lodging. And I bet when Michelle's asleep we can sneak in for a snack, or crash a few of those pig roasting parties.
______
the 24 hour running.
we could put together a spreadsheet. (ugh) Haha! with time slots. everyone can figure GMT right? maybe we can embed some time/date corrections? or we can create a new thread dedicated to the 24 hour running vigil. be easier than sorting through here? someone run with it. (i can do the spreadsheet, if ya want. just have to be patient with my mistakes and oversights).
Australia is ahead of us, so??? friday/saturday?
