My podiatrist has recommended I take turmeric for the arthritis in my feet ... so I've started. Hopefully it makes a difference!

Thank you!
I was watching everyone ahead of me intently to see what they did .... and then a few deep breaths just before I appeared on camera.
I also looked up at my husband who was sitting in a balcony seat watching me and we smiled at each other. It was a big day for him ... rather stressful and he was quite fatigued, but he really wanted to be there and I'm glad we could share the day. Plus he got a chance to talk to an old friend of his who is one of my instructors!!
Thanks again to all of you!!
Technology is an amazing thing ... that we can share something like this across the world. My parents watched it live as well so they could "be there" for my grad even though they are halfway around the world in Canada.
And then, in the evening, I got to work on my next homework assignment. A few weeks ago, I started my first of 8 courses to complete the journey to a Master's degree. At this point, who knows if I'll be able to get there or not, but I've started. 1 course per semester.

Hi Gals,
Machka – wow DH making a scratch cake
Terry – beautiful necklace for your daughter
So fun to watch your graduation Machka !!! congrats
A week of company and now a quiet day, I am recovering…Thanks for all the birthday wishes – it was a nice day, a great dinner out with my mom and 2 friends, and some good time with my mom, she gets on my nerves something fierce – if after most sentences you have to say “I’m just joking” maybe you need to think more before you speak!!! Just Joking is a phrase I never want to hear again. But when I was text bit*hing to a friend- she reminded me about the tension my mom is under, and that helped me keep it in perspective. My brother is beginning to have more and more issues, and it is making the end seem more real. My mom is the queen of denial and she’s been trying to put her head in the sand. (for newbies or anyone who forgot – my brother has terminal cancer and it is beyond treatment)

Plans changed, found out that Colby was going to be here around 6:30 so didn’t go to church so we could have dinner and I would be home to greet Colby. Then we left for the airport, didn’t get home until a little after 11:30. But Jess is here, cuddling with her cat
Jen – welcome!
M – I’m so glad your husband was at your ceremony
Here are my flamingoes:
And I have a few DVD’s:
Now you know why I'm always selling them for the price of the postage...so I can make room for new ones!

Hello from DOHA, Qatar! Uneventful, but 13-long hours of flying. I managed by drinking a lot of water staying away from bubbles, dairy and airplane food, so no airsickness hooray! We arrived at the hotel and ventured out for Syrian food for our first night out-lovely grilled veg and lamb for DH and grilled chicken for me—no alcohol for me this trip. kind of got 5 hours sleep and thank goodness I brought my own coffee supplies cause there’s no coffee at breakfast(!!!!). Heading out to tour the new center city—it is blazing hot here.
Machka hip hip hooray, such an accomplishment amidst all that you’re dealing with. WTG!!
Katla enjoy every minute of the visit with your little one.
Beth amazing that DYS is planning ahead and finding professional footing—I know it breaks my heart when DD makes that move as well, time is flying!!
DD Was accepted to an internship in Washington DC for spring, no placement yet in the gov’t but first step is complete.
We visit her in one week in so Africa—-can’t wait.
Haven’t taken any pics yet, stay tuned!

Machka - This image went straight to my heart. Wonderful to read - after all you've both been through! Did your husband recognize his old friend spontaneously?
I picked up my son and the grandkids at the airport yesterday. We had a lot of extra time on our hands because the ferry schedule is rather meagre on Saturdays. So we visited MS Polstjerna, an old seal hunting vessel that is now a museum in Tromsø. The whole ship is intact and you can explore everywhere except in the hold, the engine room and the rigging. The kids had a blast. The berths for the crew up in the forecastle were especially thrilling. Ten men shared a space about as big as my bathroom. Some of the bunks were only 40 inches wide tapering to 20 inches. In that tiny space, reached by way of a nearly vertical ladder, they ate and drank, slept and played cards, smoked their pipes, and dried their socks and mittens. They did everything there except work. Also, they didn't wash during the 7-month voyages because fresh water was scarce.
Visiting this vessel also gave us an opportunity to have a nuanced discussion about seal hunting. I took a bunch of pictures but there's too much chaos in the house just now for me to start transferring them from my phone. I see now that link I provided shows very few images from inside the boat. Most of them were taken outside the museum, not to mention outside the boat, and there are NONE showing the crew's cramped quarters. I'll try to find time to post some of my own.

Thanks Penny! We never got to see that one, though we sailed past it. Glad you've got the chance to be a Gramma again.
DH is still having trouble with his IBS. He does get anxious worrying about it, so it affects his sleep. I tell him to get tested for everything it might be, so he can rule out everything else and then he will just have to wait for it to go away, as it did last time. But I'm afraid I am talking to a brick wall. My best tactic with him is just to plant an idea and then let it lie, so we will see what happens. I told him to send off for the poo kit, which he has always refused to do. I've done mine.
Currently he has the move on his mind, which is stressful. He is also finishing his fifth book in his Winfreth series. He hopes to get it on Amazon before we move.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx

Morning, afternoon, evening, everyone...
Packing this morning... Finishing up the laundry now. On that note, found it funny, Heather, that you asked some while back if I'd bought new clothes to celebrate the weight loss (down 34 pounds as of this morning, yay!). Yes, but probably not what you think. I bought a new pair of black jeans in my current size, an American 14 petite. And a couple T-shirts. Oh, and I went to the thrift store on Friday and bought two sleeveless tops and a new soft blazer-style jacket to go over, as I must be at a cocktail party tomorrow night to say goodbye to my CEO, and she's seen all my reasonably decent clothing before.
I seriously hate clothes shopping, dealing with new clothes, the whole bit. The last dress I wore was my wedding dress nine years ago. I seriously enjoy listening to women who love style, and you, Heather, are one of the more stylish people I know, but it's seriously not my jam. At all. Jeans, T-shirts and sweats 99 percent of the time.
Part of it was being so heavy for so long, as wearing pantyhose or even going without any form of leg covering has literally raised blisters on my thighs, due to the way I'm built. Part of it, too, is a patience thing, I think. I just find the inevitable time and fuss it takes to look stylish is annoying for me. I also wear minimal makeup, just mascara and eyeliner, and only wear that when my hair's super short, as it is right now. And that's only because it annoys me when people call me "sir."
Sorry about the jump in the wayback machine, but it got me thinking. This is a picture of me when I was a flight attendant, in uniform, right after graduation from FA school, so about October 2007:
And this is a picture of me almost exactly two years earlier, just before I had gastric bypass in 2005:
I don't have any pictures of myself right now - but the weight I had reached by the time I became a flight attendant was comfortable - right around 140 pounds, or ten stone. Somewhere between 140 and 150 is about where I want to land... and there are days it seems awfully far away. Today, though, today is one of the days where it seems truly possible.

I'm trying to organise things a tiny little bit at a time when I've got a second or two.
I collect greeting cards with bicycles and I've got enough of them that I've thought it might be a good idea to frame them rather than have them scattered everywhere.
What I'd like are various sized frames that can be clicked together (magnetically or with velcro or hooks or something) to create a collage frame.
I know I can get collage frames, but I'd like to be able to create my own pattern and be able to add to it, and move things around as I want.
Does anything like this exist ... that I can get here in Australia ... for a reasonable price?
Something like this could potentially work ... but it doesn't look like they ship to Australia. With good reason probably, it is really expensive to ship stuff to Australia.
Umbra's Trickle Picture Frame
Or there's always this idea ... and I could potentially make that myself, but it looks just a bit messy to me.
Millanocket Metal Wheel Photo Holder Wall Decor by Trent Austin Design
However, I'm also considering the option of getting a collection of inexpensive picture frames and adhesive magnetic strips so that I can "click" them all together, and unclick and move them around as desired.
You're a creative bunch. Have any of you done anything like this?

Good morning all! Happy Sunday! Yesterday went well with the seven year old. We spent about four hours at the beach. My phone died, so I couldn't get any sand sculpture pictures. Some of the entries were very elaborate and professional; others were simple things done by local/vacationing families. Didn't stay for the judging. Trentin (the seven year old) and I walked down the beach a ways and found a spot with lots of driftwood, discarded beach toys, dead clumps of dune grass, etc. He was happy as a clam building a sand castle complete with a sea wall made from debris, fighting pirates and sea monsters with sticks and dune grass and a water cannon toy that we brought. The water was really warm and I got in with him. Our playing attracted about six other kids who played with us and then we shared our popsicles that I brought. It was a good day. He got picked up at about 3 and I was able to get about four hours of online training done. Today he will arrive at 7:30am and be with me until 6:30pm (long day). He wants to head to the beach across from my house, today. We are bringing a bucket and net for catching minnows. Not planning on doing anything but shower after he is picked up!
Pip- You are a great friend to us on this site; whether you comment much or not. I, for one, take inspiration from your posting of your daily activity. Whether you comment beyond those posts is a bonus. I like to see that whatever you are dealing with in life, you keep the activity part of your day going. Inspires me to do better. I love all of the fur baby pics.
Rye- I agree with KarenVA; we can never have enough Kidd Kirby pics!
Terry- Great photo! You look fantastic! Glad you could get out with a friend and enjoy the day!
Carol- I am like you, in the fact that I love to see the photos and hear the stories. It seems lately, that my work is consuming my time and I live vicariously through the rest of you ladies and your adventures! I am a selfish soul! lol
NY Karen - Yea! You have landed! Can't wait to hear your stories and see some photos! ??!!! No coffee in the morning??!! Although I am not planning a trip to Qatar; this is one of those things I need to make a mental note on when I begin to travel more! I don't think I could travel happily on no caffeine!
Michele- Your flamingos are adorable! AND...I have always wondered about that seemingly endless supply of exercise dvds! Wow!That's a lot!
Kim- Enjoy your much needed day of rest! lol There is something luxurious about that day AFTER company goes home!
Beth- Now you've done it! Now I need another bathroom so I can have lights in my toilet! I wouldn't dare put that in my "kid" bathroom. The little ones find it a challenge to pee in the dark and I have to get after them quite often for attempting it.
Well, Trentin has arrived, fully awake and talking a mile a minute. Time to get busy! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)3 -
Oh yeah, a P.S. The beach was not as crowded as it could have been yesterday and I really wondered where everyone was. I found out last night that on Friday the biting flies were everywhere up and down the lakeshore; chasing people off the beaches, off the lake, and into homes and businesses. I guess they were really bad. One "bad" thing to be grateful for! First time biting flies has ever made it into my gratitude journal!3

Machka- Of the two photo displays you posted, I like the first one better, simply because I, like you, find the photos clipped to the wheel a little too "messy" for my taste. Just a suggestion (something more to my own taste); I would paint a lightweight board with magnetic paint. Then stencil/draw the outline of a bicycle in a lighter colour. Then you could either post photos with magnets or framed photos with magnets attached to the back of the frame. Just an idea. I bet you will think of more that appeal to your design likes and preferences! Fun project!4

Sitting waiting for my DFIL ,and with all that has been going on these past few months ,I have to remember the Serenity prayer..that is all that will get me through all this...3

Magnetic paint? Now that's new to me. But that might work if I can find some.
I can get packages of magnetic frames that you put on your fridge, but my fridge is rather full already. So I was thinking that if I could use the magnetic frames in another way ... such as what you've suggested ...
