Contrary to popular belief life is NOT black or white, it's gray all the way. So you don't have to be a symbol of perfection, just be enough to like and respect yourself. Believe it when people tell you "Life is short" even if it didn't feel like it when you were a teenager. Don't let all the outside negativity from others mold you into who you think you should be. AND put aside some of your earnings every single week, no matter how little an amount it may be.4 -

@ReeniieHJ i like you and tend to agree with you most times.....but not about your first points here. I believe the more blacj and white you make your life, the happier abd more successful you will be. Most gray areas i believe come from not answering hard questions and not dealing with tough times honestly. There is usually a right and wrong answer to every question.....there is usually a right way and a wrong way to be. Almost every time someone told me about something and said, well thats a gray area, i could see how it really wasnt. It was a tough area, but thats ok.
And i also feel life is short if you look back on it as it not being fulfilling. Ask a person sitting in prison how fast time flies by. Sure my days go by so fast sometimes, but when i sit back and reflect, i feel satisfied and full. I dont wish away time, and i dont long for the past......time moves just fine for me as long as i use it well and dont waste it. You dont get back even a second, so i think wasting time is what makes it fly, because you will end up wishing for it back and get the feeling things have passed you by.
I agree whole heartedly with the rest of what you said 😁2 -

@Revolu7 I like that you voiced your opinion. Having the personality traits that I do of seeing both sides(thank you Libra ;/) I actually can see your POV on both comments I made. I think one's perspective comes from all the things that make that person an individual, experiences of past and present, environment, genetics, upbringing, just everything. Plus it also depends on which topics we're talking about when it comes to black and white and life's too short.
I mean black and white definitely does exist in some circumstances but I guess when I posted that, I was thinking back to any conversation I've ever tried to have with my brother about climate change, religion(egads), politics, gender choice/civil union/etc.(really bad)...IOW it's his way or no way. And I could see a little of that during my childhood with my parents. My policy is 95% Live and Let Live as long as you do no harm to people/animals/property of others.
I truly wish some of us MFP'ers could sit down around a table and just talk, share, discuss and listen; ya know....good old fashioned conversation without a keyboard.
And as far as your comments about Life is too short, I agree with what you said but OTOH, disagree. D@@mn the Libra thing. Just ask my sister who lived a full life with her dh of 54 years while he was withering away to nothing from Alzheimer's. And I don't mean to sound snarky saying that but what she wouldn't have given to keep having extra days by his side. I remember talking with my mom's dr. while we were in the hospital waiting for her to pass away; he said his mom lived to be 100 and it still wasn't long enough. So again, I feel it's about perspective and the individual.
Regrets, life not being fulfilling, etc., I cannot imagine there are many of us who don't experience at least a little bit of this looking back. Things we wished we'd done differently or things left unsaid.
So, pull up a chair, share your thoughts. Better grab a coffee or a drink, we might be here awhile.2 -

Sure, one could argue back and forth on politics, religion, etc......but the black and white of it is, everyone has their own opinion and are entitled to it. Even if your brother is close minded and does not agree, ignorance of it doesnt change it. How i feel about those things may differ from yours, or your brother's, or many others, and everyone's black and white may not mesh, but thats ok, it doesnt have to. Black and white doesnt necessarily mean one way is right and one way is wrong for everybody, it means, individuals should find their own definitive ideals and paths. The more inconsistency and being unable to commit to one has in their life, the more gray area they have, the less likely they will be to accomplish what they want. And to be fair, whats black and white to me now may not be what black and white to me as a child, or as a younger man. As i evolve so has my ideals, but what never changes is my commitment to them.
As to the other point, of course losing a loved one will bring on feelings of wishing there was more time. But i offer my own example of a good friend of mine that lost his son to cancer when he was just 4 yrs old. That is way to short of a time for anyone to be on earth, especially if it your own child. But when my friend starts to think of it that way, he immediately switches to thinking about every moment he did have with his son and not on the moments he didnt have. Its been over 20 yrs since his boy has passed, and i have never once heard him say what is son could have become.....he talks about what he was. And to me, i like that way of thinking. Especially when talking about loved ones passing. Like i said before, if life is sucking i promise you it doesnt feel short, just ask the person in prison serving time. But if life is good, it will pass at the same speed only seeming quicker......and that is just fine with me. I have no want to live forever, but what i do want is to fill up whatever time i do have on this earth with things that make it pass by as if not in prison.6 -
I stop on railroad tracks because the sign says not to
I roll through stop signs because the sign says to stop
I drive faster when the light turns yellow
I pause when the light turns green because of all the crazies that run red lights 🤭
I live 5 minutes from the ocean, but only go during off months because too many people.
I don't like drinking or eating out of anything made from plastic
I often eat my lunch sitting in a parking lot because of time constraints
I'm an orphan
Now I'm sad...that's all for today

I honestly don't know why no one wants to do the confined space entry into reactor 8...
I mean I know we don't have to do it, but it looks like fun to me 😂... I'm hella gonna play the Indiana Jones theme song on my phone while I go down 😂...

I really really hate the process of doing my own nails. Remove old polish, file, push back cuticles, oil cuticles...
It’s too much.

Me too. It’s tedious work. But I do it once in a blue moon when I’m feeling fancy.😄 But I love getting pedicures! I think most feet are weird looking and ugly and some cute paint helps with all of that.

So do socks. Unfortunately I seem to have inherited my dad's feet and they're not fit to be seen by any other human on the planet.

I'm extremely hard on portable electronics. I have broken countless phones. I've dropped them down cavernous shafts, I've accidentally bent flip phones the wrong way trying to close them one handed against my leg or thigh, I've ran them over with the lawn tractor, I've ran them over with vehicles. Some of this was done with Defender series Otter Boxes. They were still no match for me. But I gotta say this iPhone 11 is pretty damn tough. I may not be able to kill it.
So, Friday night I'm on a three way facetime call with two other dudes solidifying their flight times and all the logistics for me to pick them up / drop them off. The damn rooster flew up onto the patio heater then a couple hens followed.
I go and try and shoo them off. They won't budge. I shake the heater. They won't budge. I get up on a chair so I can try the shoo while shaking approach. Still won't budge. By this time my bro-friends are laughing their *kitten* off.
I'm getting a little salty because this roo has been bowing up to me. The damn thing pecked my toe while I was feeding them the other day and drew blood. So I'm not gonna let that little pecker of a SoB get the best of me.
I get right up there and snatch him by his paw. But I only get one paw. And I pull him down. The hens fly away sqwacking. I got my phone in one hand, facetime still going, roo in the other flailing around yanking at the one paw I got, wings flapping, and starting to claw my hand with his free paws talons.
While all this is going on I hear by bro-buddies laughing hysterically. I go to step off the chair and miss judge the drop. I go backwards flat onto my *kitten* then my back. Roo goes flying one direction and my phone goes another.
It's close to 2200 and I don't have any lights on around the pool. My phone case is black. I'm looking for it thinking it's face down on the pool deck. I can't find it. Then think to myself "Self, you done effed up.". And I go to the edge of the pool, where I see the glow of an iPhone 11 at the bottom of the deep end next to the bottom suction port.
I dive in and rescue my phone. Come up and the thing is still working! I dry it off, text my buddies telling them I'm powering off the phone and I'd see them the next day. Gave it time and powered it back on. Still worked!
So, If anyone was curious, an iphone 11 will work after sitting at the bottom of the deep end of a pool for 30+ seconds, the only thing affected was the speakers which now work perfectly after a few days of drying out, and I no longer take electronics near the pool.
Oh, BTW, I got a pair of air pods out of it. One of ol' boys bought me a pair. He said the conversion after I dropped was "I bet that dumbass dropped his phone in the pool" and they took it as this dumbass did drop his phone in the pool when I texted saying I'm powering off the phone.7 -

I like digging in the dirt.
I would love to go to Crater of Diamonds in AR and sit in the dirt all day digging for diamonds.
But it’s kind of far and no one wants to go with me.
I heard there was a place in TX where you pay a flat price and they dump you a big pile of dirt with lots of little fossils and what not to dig through.
I’d love it. No one wants to do it.
I want so badly to see the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde but no one wants to go with me.
I think it would be fun to rent a couple giant, fancy RVs and grandparents, grandkids, kids, all go on a road trip somewhere, stopping along the way.
Everyone says “yeah” kinda lame like,
no one wants to go.
What happened?
We used to all like doing the same things. 🤷🏼♀️5 -

OMG ME TOO!!! I always wanted to be that person who'd uncover a new dinosaur, or precious stones, or even that missing buried treasure. Many years ago we went to this small digging site where you got a little hammer and could go hit to your heart's content, just minerals, rocks, that sort of thing. Just digging among the different rocks was cool, not even looking for treasure. Or panning for gold, that'd be fun too. I dug a lot when I was a little girl and found 2 silver pennies in our back yard; I was so excited. I dug a 3x10' trench in our own backyard to create a walkway but all I found were bricks people had buried. I read archeology articles as much as I read news.3 -
