I want a nice stomach. So I'm getting my flap chopped off. Lost 180lbs through eating at a deficit and incorporating cardio and strength training for health.28

@VUA21, congratulations on losing the weight you wanted.
I read in another thread that you were 'having the flap chopped off'. On the 2nd isn't it?
I'll say good luck and I hope all goes well now, just in case I miss the day of.
Please, if you feel up to it and willing to share, post a progress report to us.
It would be so nice if there were a few threads that we could point people to, that include the good, the bad, and the ugly, when they post about considering it.
Cheers, h.7 -

Well, here's a pic I took a few days ago of my belly. So this is my true before pic. I'll be updating my progress and recovery on a regular basis.

First day post surgery. Dr says a bit over 4lbs of skin was removed. Had to get a second drain put in today. Here's the pic of my 1 day old scar.

Thank you. Also, I am extremely bloated from the surgery, so my end results are going to look even better. Per Dr. the massive bloating lasts for about a month, then goes down to about 20% for a few weeks. My doc says I'm doing exceptionally well, he agrees that it's probably mainly due to the fact that I lost the weight through eating less, and also incorporating a lot of exercise.
Total skin removed, slight more than 4lbs (just picture a 4lb slab of meat, wowza!)19 -

Looks fantastic already! Thank you for sharing with us. Wish you a speedy recovery!1 -
Update: Day 5 recovery. Anesthesia pump removed and completely off of painkillers. (Ouchie, but not unbearable). For the first time in nearly 20 years I sat up and my stomach did not cover my groin and half my thighs. Still bloated, in some pain (more soreness than actual pain).

Take care. You did an amazing job of getting to the pre surgery stage! Congrats on the new tummy.3 -

That is a very nice job on the sutures. You are healing rapidly and aren't going to have much of a scar at all. Add that surgeon to your Christmas card list.12 -

Had my excess skin cut off as well in last November! Best decision of my life! I felt so much happier with my body after it was done! I had 16 inches of excess skin removed. They didn’t weigh it though!6 -

I didn’t have a full abdonimalplasty like you I had a mini one!

@rickiimarieee May I ask how long ago you had your surgery? Flattened belly good!!!2 -
1 week recovery update: only one drain still in, and gauze for "new" belly button is off. Most of the bruising is gone as well. Just found out, my doctor posted my surgery video on-line (I have zero problem with that! Kinda proud of it).

Thank you. I am very strictly following ALL my doctor's advice! More strict than I was ever to myself to lose the weight. I'm also eating a lot more. Making sure to go over maintenance calories every day, and I am less than sedentary at the moment. Need to make sure my body has the energy to heal itself as recovery takes a toll on the body. I know how important recovering from anything is for forever results, so I know to not care about my weight until I am recovered. I am so excited for the day that I can go for a run without having to wear compression gear!!! (It seriously was so bad, that running without stomach compression gear felt like running without a sports bra)29 -
Looks great! How visible will the scar be once it fully heals?0

Then it sounds perfect, I wish you a fast recovery!3 -

Wow, if you didn't say that you had surgery and have a scar, I would not notice it. That's amazing!!!5 -
Bookmarking! Great job, everyone!2

Pick up Bio oil from drug store. Once you've healed use it every day to reduce scarring.
I don't think walmart has it.
Good for my mastectomy scarring.8
