Hello, sorry I haven't been in for a while. I took a sickie or three..
I was going ok on this three mths thingy.. until it got the better of me. It wasn't a formal drink, so there wasn't the peer pressure. I'm using it to blind out things.
Well done everyone else that's staying strong but I've blown my change. I'll have to start over
You haven't blown anything! You're here being accountable and honest waves to all have a fabulous AF day!9 -
@ElC_76 Understandable bump in the road. You are slowly evolving and these little bumps wont get the best of you. Keep trying. Xo5

Great job on starting over! Keep going! I don't know how many times I started over. Doesn't matter.6 -
What a rough week at work. Wow. Next week--we will see how it is--since this week isn't resolved. This week a work in progress. No drinking, but my diet plan, sheesh. Have to start over today on the nutritional end of things.5

As the year closed in 2018, I knew I needed to get a handle on my drinking, not only for my weight, but behavior. I am happy I am on my way to my goal and have lost ten pounds! The most important thing is my relationship with alcohol! I was dry in a Jan, had a few major mess ups in Feb (learned a lot), and have had a few days in March with a few glasses of wine. Not overdoing it and using alcohol as a crutch. I am happy of my progress and will continue to push towards my goals of a healthier lifestyle!
Best to all! 💃❤️👍🎉

@salleewins I hear ya. I'm doing great on staying AF, but struggling to eat as healthy as I was before. When I made room for drinking in my calorie planning, I ate better. What a strange thing.8 -
@VeggieGirlforLife Me too! But then again, when I was drinking, there was a lot of other planning, too, i.e, when and where, balance between drunk and not too drunk, not drinking excessively in front of any one person....

@VeggieGirlforLife and
@SweatsOnSunday
Ha! Same - I always watched my calories and left room in my daily calories for liquor.
I need to get that calorie counting mindset back on top of the "important things to do today" list!5 -
I'm totally in... So happy you created this community. Alcohol is ruining my mental/physical health, weight loss progress, and motivation to go to the gym. My fiance and I drink 1x/week but we go hard and i end up binging on junk food. I always hate myself the next morning after a great week of healthy food & working out. So today will be Day #1 of alcohol free weekends.9

The next day you still have that problem. But, you have another problem : perhaps an argument that happened while you were drunk and a hangover. Now, you have three big problems ....And so on.... Alcohol just makes you forget for a short time, but adds plenty of problems to your life including anxiety and depression.
SO TRUE! It has been a lot easier dealing with any sort of issue that may arise with a clear head and not alcohol infused. I have had my set backs of over drinking and dealing with an issue and like mentioned only makes things so much worse.
All the best to everyone and Happy Sunday!

Any chance that you have SAD? I was told by a Chiropractor who diagnosed my SAD that it is an accumulative condition, in part due to a Vitamin D deficiency due to lack of sunlight. That is when I felt the most blue too, as spring approached.
Just realized reading this back that I'm a rhyming machine tonight (Blue Too...who knew that I could rhyme on a dime ... ok I'm done now!)6 -
You guys doing awesome! I has the temptations today but resisting it full force, sipping on an iced tonic water.12

I haven't checked in for quite awhile. I'm 163 days AF which I think helped me when I went in for a total shoulder joint replacement on 2/27. I'm almost 2 weeks post op and doing really well. I was kind of nervous about the opioids I had to take (trust me, the 1st 3 days the pain is brutal), but I was able to wean off them in about 4 days and now am just using ice and OTC pain medication.
When I got home from the hospital (had to stay overnight) I got on my scale and had gained 2lbs. I figured it was all the IV fluids, but then I gained another 2lbs over the next two days and figured that was swelling, and the side effects of the opiods. Once I'd weaned off of them (they made me really nauseous) I lost the weight.
Now I'm back on track with my diet. All I can do for exercise is walking. Weight training won't be allowed for months. (sigh) But I really think being alcohol free helped my recovery go so well.
The weird thing was that I was instructed to eliminate IBprophen, aspirin, vitamins and CBD products 7 days before surgery. Alcohol intake was to stop only 48hrs. before surgery. Seems odd, doesn't it.13 -
10 weekends AF! In the beginning it was the weekends which were the hardest, so knowing I've managed 10 without wine...well, I am quite proud of myself.16

Congrats @lorrainequiche59 on 9 months AF! That's wonderful!
I get that way too, @whitpauly. When I hear it's daylight savings time, for some reason I feel depressed. I have a very hard time waking up in complete darkness which is what will happen now and I'm just not crazy about extended daylight time in the evenings. I hate summers and humidity, so I just assume that's why all this puts me in a mood...7 -

Congrats on all the milestones! went to my g-sons birthday party yesterday and yes some of the adults were drinking beer(not me) some people have issues with alcohol at kids' parties, think its weird and not the place but I disagree and think if nobody's getting hammered why should it be off limits? Shoot, they serve beer at Chuck E Cheese so it's about the same I guess, anyways I had a fun time just watching the kids play, eating pizza and the red velvet cake! Today I had to drop my calories cuz I've been in a stall for months,i know why,I haven't been tracking solidly, just kinda punching random stuff in but I need to lose 5 vanity pounds before shorts season, grrr! Waves to all and wishes for a happy AF day9

Hello Everyone. I tend to take this supportive group for granted at times until I go into a different thread and make a comment that someone disagrees with. I feel a VENT coming on...…Wait for it...…..
Here Goes: I can get baited SO easily. I think the most difficult thing for me is if the person who disagrees with me has misunderstood what I was trying to say, or read more into it than I intended. Anyway, the moral of the story is, let it go!! Just let it go...
I can be a bit of a right-fighter and I find that highly annoying in other people, but when I do it, it "seems" perfectly logical and exactly what I "should" be doing until I am embroiled in defending what I know I mean...and then r-r-r-r-r-r!! Let it GO.....Walk away....!! and don't look back!
Anyway, I had taken a pic of a FB post just for times like this. I'm not sure how to post it here so I'll just set it up...it`s a pic of an elderly lady and she says, "I'm at that stage of my life where I keep myself out of arguments. Even if you tell me 1+1= 5....you're absolutely correct, enjoy!!
THIS needs to be my motto and I need to look at it BEFORE I start being "right" about nothing!! LOL
Thank you thank you for my very supportive peeps here11 -
@lorrainequiche59 Good thoughts. The 'let it go' mantra is a necessity for me. It also works when I have flashbacks of stupid things I have done, too. "Let it go. There's nothing you can do about it now. Just don't do it again."7
-
@lorrainequiche59 that's how life goes... remember the phrase "will I remember this a year from now?" Probably not. So it's not worth the effort most of the time. But I see how a comment can put a sour taste in your mouth. Onward and upward !❤6

Some of you may recall shortly after I became AF, I got to stop taking my BP meds...which was awesome. The BP meds were a diuretic and I promptly gained 7 pounds. It took a month of CICO + working out to get the 7 pounds back off. Today the needle moved into my "original goal" territory by a whopping 1.6 pounds. I am guessing 6-8 weeks until goal....stoked! I am so looking forward to getting back to maintenance :-)

@Ed_Zilla ~ What a great benefit of stopping alcohol to get off BP meds!! So happy for you!
