I think it was Barbara who asked why I have Trentin so late? His mom is a home health care nurse, so her hours vary depending on who needs her and when. The lady that she sat with in the mornings on the weekend has moved to a nursing home, so Trentin's mom took another care position working second shift for another woman.
I was supposed to have my doctor's appointment this week; but I got a call stating that my doctor had retired (she is younger than I am!), so I had to reschedule with a new doc, get it approved through insurance etc. That appointment is in the middle of the day (?!) on the 15th of this month. Gah. I took it only because I want to know what is up with my thyroid and the new doc had no late afternoon or early morning appointments available until January. Pass. I will just take the one on the 15th. My daycare parents are very good about this sort of thing; but it still makes me feel bad that they have to work around things like this.
Heather- I think you should just mount a Go-Pro camera on your head and take us on a tour of your new town! lol
Machka- I am in a beach town too, but it is not on the ocean. Lake Michigan Unsalted. I make the beach in the kitchen just to give us a kick in the middle of the winter. It just feels so good.
Today, I read the kids the book Click Clack Moo (which is on regular rotation for them, they love it so) and it dawned on me that the kids had no idea what a typewriter was. So...I ran down and got my hubby's old typewriter and put some paper in and let the kids go. THEY HAD A BALL! "It's like magic!" Those were Grace's words. lol They especially loved watching the key arms come up and click on the page and the "ding" when it got close to the margin... it's the little things.

Autumn in full swing here and I’m tired but happy. Last night I judged 5 hours of auditions after a full day of teaching. I will use heather’s word knackered to describe how I feel. Hopefully after a quick nap DH and I will head to the gym which will truly make us happy. Also, we’re considering a trip to Italy in February if the stars align. NYKAREN6

Ah, what makes me happy?
- A latte from Dutch Bros
- Hearing my boys talking/hanging out together happily
- Petting my dog or cat
- Watching Brit crime dramas with my hubby
- The ocean
- Snow days
- My women's Bible study group
- Warm beaches in the winter

I think this is what you’re asking for. Click on “quote” at the very bottom of their post. A new reply box should pop up with their post in a box. Be sure you type your reply outside the brackets that say quote or it will be difficult to distinguish your answer from the quote.

It is not controversial to say "there are confusing items on the ballot about _____" It is controversial to say "I am really opposed to the whole idea of _______ that's on the ballot." My state has some confusing and controversial issues and Jake and I spend a lot of time reading about them and discussing them before voting. I just won't tell you how I voted or what I think of the people who voted on the other side.
Mary, from Ontario, Canada....I am older than you are and found this site at age 62 after decades of failed attempts to lose weight. Consistency and tenacity have been my friends on this journey. I started by logging my food daily and sticking to the plan and little by little added other new behaviours. It sounds like you have found some great exercise that works for your physical limitations.
Kelly, I loved reading "Click Clack Moo" to first graders.
Heather, it sounds like things are coming together a little at a time in your new house.
We had huge fun this morning rearranging some of the cupboards in the kitchen that started with moving the coffee pot to a different place so it didn't take up too much counter space. A few items ended up in the "give away" box and we spent some time thinking about all the things we can put in the new cupboard that we'll get in the kitchen remodel. Also a nap after lunch and another session of planting bulbs.

Hello all: Heard from doctor's office, co-pay for DH's chemo drug will be paid for by the foundation for one year. Yeah! That is one worry down. We should hear results from biopsy done yesterday some time next week. They told us yesterday that they did a routine screening for sleep apnea yesterday and he should talk to his PCP about being checked out. We have an appointment with oncology nurse to go over the chemo drug and administration, also what we can expect in the way of side effects. DH says he is not too worried about losing his hair since he is already bald. Glad he still has some sense of humor.
Barbie - How many bulbs are you planting? I have some hyacinth bulbs that I am moving. They were in an old 1/2 whiskey barrel that has fallen apart. I got a new pot to put them in.
Heather - Hang in there with the moving. Soon you will be at home there with things where you want them. Love the picture at the shore.
Cheryl - That is a gorgeous horse. Mare or gelding? What happened to the sorrel mare?
Everyone take care, Sue in WA7 -
Welcome new ladies!
Sue ... hoping the liver biopsy provides information that is helpful ...
Drkatiebug ... I started decluttering in the basement!! Only had time for about 30 minutes ... but it's a start!
Husband took off work today ... it really has been a stressful week ... and we decided to take a drive looking at the leaves even though it was raining. Ended up at a car dealership ... "just looking." I currently drive a 2003 that has seen better days, but tomorrow I will be driving a new SUV! I had no plans of buying a car today and rarely (ok, never) act spontaneously on large purchases ... but when my husband said do you like it I said "yes" and when he said do you want it, I laughed and said "sure" not realizing he would turn to the salesman and say "we'll buy it." LOL! So I guess, Machka, that's what WE do for fun!

Did an extremecardio DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do the Kathy Smith Great Buns and Thighs DVD.
Went for my annual physical. Remember last week I went for the blood work? Well, the MD had the results. He commented that they check for like 50 different things and EVERY ONE of my things that they checked for were within the normal range – liver function, kidney function, Chol., etc. etc. To me, that was pretty good. He said that very few people have perfect blood work. Since I felt OK with the sinus infection, he still gave me the flu shot. Told him that we got the first Shringrix vaccine in Aug., but we haven’t had the second one. You know something? Months and months ago I told Vince that we should get it. He kept putting it off and putting it off. Now there’s a shortage and he’s hoping he can get the second shot before he has to go on Medicare. See, Aetna will pay 100%, Medicare won’t. Well, that’s his fault for waiting. I’m still good on Aetna for another year so it’s really not a problem for me. I don’t care if I have to wait 6 months.
Kelly – did the kids make the muffins? They look so good. They are all so cute. How creative are you making those “spider webs”
Lisa – For one thing, Vince is getting to be more and more of a worry-wort the older he gets. What he doesn’t like is that I went to WM in the dark. He would have preferred to have gone with me with his gun. Me? There are so few people there, I just checked my surroundings. There was one guy sitting on the ground next to where I parked on his cell phone. I don’t know if he would have done anything, but I made sure he knew that I locked my car. Not like he couldn’t have assaulted me if he wanted to. But I always prefer to think the good things of people. Great for your son, I hope he gets accepted.
Right now Vince is putting the inflatables away. It’s raining so we won’t get the lights in, but at least the inflatables are in and dry.
M – you so deserve a get away. DO IT
Loved all the pics. All of them
Jo – yea for the 12
Spoke to Denise yesterday. I asked her if Maria had gotten my invitation. Denise said that she did but she didn’t think Maria would take me up on it since people have their own traditions. Well, Christmas Eve is my tradition but I’m willing to forgo it. Denise still doesn’t know what the story is with Thanksgiving. I’m thinking that Maria doesn’t really want us. But let her come up with the excuse for Denise. I bet she’ll use her hubby as an excuse. He had diverticulitis and has a temp. colostomy. He had his gall bladder removed the other day. She was thinking that they’d probably reverse the colostomy in a few weeks.
Cari – wonderful loss
Mary from Ontario – welcome
I knew that when I had my children, MIL gave me a sweater she knitted when she was pg with Vince. Vince and each of my kids came home from the hosp. in it. I want to give it to Denise, but for a while I couldn’t find it. But I did today. I could have sworn there was a hat with it, but guess I was wrong. It would have been in the same box as the sweater and I couldn’t find it, so maybe it wasn’t there at all. Denise keeps asking for this angel prayer x-stitch that I did when I was a little girl. I’m thinking I’ll give that to her at her baby shower. I bet any amount of money that it’ll be at a restaurant. I’d love to have it in my house, but I know that no one would come. Oh well….. Katla – I think of you so often being away from your grands. I’ll be in the same boat.
Went to Hallmark today to get some more ornaments Vince ordered, then to Target who had cat litter, if you buy 2 you got $5 off. Then to PetSmart to get cans of food for our cats and more dry food for them. I was trying to tell Vince that he could really cut down on the cost for the dry food if he wouldn’t give it to the cats at night. We also had to get Shadow more dry food. Thank goodness she doesn’t get a lot in each meal. $44 for a bag, and it’s not a real big bag. But it is prescription food. The cost for all this was over $100. I really think Vince should consider not giving the cats “treats” at night. It’s not like they need them. They were getting them when Loki was getting his phenobarbital at night, but now he only gets one pill every other day. So our cost for pill pockets has really gone down. Now if Vince would just stop giving the cats treats at night. It all started when Loki needed his pill, but he hasn’t gotten one at night for a long time.
Steve is going to come here Mon until Wed. So put the sheets, blanket, pillows, etc on the bed in the back bedroom. I’m going to have to vacuum at least tomorrow or Sun. Don’t know what we’re going to have for dinner when he’s here. I need to make something for dessert, even tho I just made the “marshmallows”. Steve isn’t crazy about chocolate. Update: I found a recipe for a lemon cake that I think I'll try.
Sue in WA – that’s just great that your husband’s co-pay will be paid in full! Praying for a good outcome on the biopsy
Beth – congrats on the new car!!!
Had to return one item to Hallmark, it wasn’t working right.
Oh, how do you get a video to post?

Sue in WA, my husband's chemo doesn't affect his hair, but it affects his energy level and his appetite and causes him so nausea. Because of his low energy level, I've done some of the chores he normally does and spend a lot of time watching tv with him or napping with him. I bought my bulbs last spring and they came in the mail at the end of September. There are 24 crocus, 20 hyacinth, and 70 daffodil. Because I'm still recovering from my back injury I've planted only a few at time, limiting planting time to 20-30 minutes a day. At the rate I'm going I'll be finished in a week unless we have a ton of rain.
Michele, Jake worries about me going out in the dark by myself. I don't shop much so that's not a problem I am out in the dark for hours in the early morning, walking the dogs.
Beth, congrats on the new SUV. Enjoy every minute of it. We bought a lightly used 2017 SUV in May and every time I get in it, I feel happy.

Michelle in NC I used to live in NC, and I miss it a lot. We were in Raleigh for almost 30 years before we decided to move to Texas. My 26 year old son is still there, but my 22 year old daughter came with us. I was surprised to read you had a cat named Shadow. Years ago I had a beautiful black cat named Shadow. I also had a cat named Loki about ten years ago as well. I have a thing for black pets. We had another cat named Osiris, and now we've got a black Chow named Vader. My dog behaves more like a cat than a dog. I often find myself at Walmart in the wee hours. I've never been afraid or had any issues. I do get frustrated when they lock one set of doors, typically after I've done all my shopping, and my car is parked near the locked doors.
Beth Not sure what I envy more, leaf-peeping or a new car. Since my car is only a few years old, and I love it, I guess it's the fall leaves. I grew up in Ohio, and really miss the fall colors living so far south. Texas is showing a bit of color, but it's nothing like you get up north.
Sue Good luck with all your husband's tests and treatments.
Lanette I get a little bit of fasting in every day. I don't eat breakfast--since my calorie allowance is so low. I have lunch at around 11, and eat dinner around 5. That gives me 18 hours of fasting until lunch the next day. Even if I finish my calories late, it's almost always before 8. The great thing about it is that I rarely feel hungry while I'm fasting. When I do, I enjoy the feeling. For years I ate so much, I never felt a hunger pang, or heard my belly growl. It's a nice reminder of the reason we should eat.
Barbie I love hearing about your kitchen remodel. I lived in a 1955 ranch house for almost 30 years, and I wanted to remodel it almost daily. My husband wouldn't go for any changes beyond paint and carpet. Now that we've moved, I've got a NEW house I love. I got to choose colors and styles, and I feel so spoiled. It doesn't stop me from mentally redecorating, but I've had thirty years of practice.4 -

If you remember things you want to change within an hour of posting, you can move your mouse to the top, right corner of your post. A little "gear" will appear which you can click and then edit your post.
However, you do only have an hour to do that.

OMGosh! Hi Irish Terri! Thank you for dropping in, it's been a while since we've seen you! Come back & see us anytime! Hope you are doing OK.
Janetr Another lovely ornament!
NYKAREN That schedule would knacker me, too, LOL! That's a beautiful fall tree.
MachkaInOz Your backyard patio is gorgeous. What a great space!
Kelly Cute photos. You're a wonder. Trentin's mom must be so grateful.
DrKatie Georgia! Yes, your ballot is a challenge. I did a bit more investigating on our ballot & discovered we also have to elect a Commonwealth Attorney for our county, for a total of 3 people to elect (U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, County Commonwealth Attorney), and 2 propositions having to do with Property Tax Exemptions. Only one issue is a bit controversial. It has to do with property tax exemptions for flood abatement. Property developers and environmentalists are coming down on opposing sides.
I took a peek at Georgia's ballot issues, and IT IS A HOT MESS! LOL!!! You were right. Good Luck!
I have Saturday off! Looking forward to puttering about.

Saturday -- Today was a wild and woolly day. Very windy and rainy and not particularly warm.
So we went to the gym for the first time since before my husband's accident!
My husband walked for half an hour which was pretty good.
I ran for an hour. I've been running outside so I wanted to see how I would go inside. I can get into quite a comfortable zone on a treadmill. I covered 7.66 km in that time, so I'm not overly fast.
When we got home, I hopped on my trainer and did a bit with Zwift's new NYC route.

Machka thanks for posting that gratitude prompting calendar, I think I will add that to my journaling.
Yesterday, the fall colors were a riot of bold reds, yellows and orange, stunning. I took it all in driving both ways to work going the slow, scenic route instead of the highway. When I arrived home, our maple tree had suddenly gone into full color, some years it is more red, this year more orange and I had to snap a pic to share with you all and another sent to DD. Great minds think alike cause DH did the same thing, sharing a pic he took earlier that day with several friends. Gorgeous Autumn, I love it so
Beth that new SUV is gonna be great to have this coming winter, the 2003 vehicle served you for a long time, I think DH knew exactly what to do.
Janet okc Love your latest creation.
Well countdown to DDs return is feeling real, I am so excited to see her at the end of this month. She will be home with us until Mid-January and then off to complete her Junior year of college. I can't believe how fast this time is flying.

Next week is dental week for me.
CT scan, MRI + a visit to a new dentist who will, hopefully, be a good one. Much work to be done!
And then soon I'll be back in to see my new dental surgeon (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon).
Between the dentist and the dental surgeon, hopefully the issues that cause all my face and jaw pain will be solved.
I hope.
