It’s a new year and I have been in maintenance for about two months now. I am ready to step it up and lose some more weight. I want to be serious about logging everything every single day and I want to get back to working out, because I really have not been through the holidays.
1/3 186.4 pretty surprised but very happy
1/4 184.6 more than I expected but I’m happy. I guess this means my birthday getaway didn’t do any permanent damage. I have gone back to logging everything everyday and lots and lots of water. This may (will) bounce up slightly again but I will take this win today because I just reached a mini goal. The hurdle now will be to not sabotage myself over the weekend.
1/5 183.2 I was way under my calorie goal yesterday and I am not feeling well today. Today I definitely9 want to get all my calories and get a nap! I haven’t had a solid nights sleep in about 2 weeks.

Day/Weight/Comment
01/03 181.8 Going in the wrong direction altogether and almost 5 pounds up from two weeks ago. Not a happy camper at all!!! Ate my full day’s quota of calories by 1 p.m. yesterday. On the upside, went for an early morning walk. It’s been a very long time since I’ve done any exercise at all. Planning another walk at 6:30 this morning.
01/04 180.6 Did 40 minute walk on the treadmill at 7 a.m. I find that I am so unfit that even just walking is tough. Anyway, I shall continue as far as I can and try to remain focused on my exercise commitments this month. Eating is still a train wreck. Toast and jam and banana with diet coke for breakfast. At least I had a bottle of water before assaulting my system with garbage.
01/05 180.2 Very slow descent!!!
01/06 178.8 YAY!!! Exercise is finally starting to show up on the scale. Can’t attribute it to eating because that has been terrible.
01/07 179.2 O.K. I’m gonna roll with it. I’m quite disappointed today at my body’s performance related to exercise. Four days into walking and my knee is acting up and I have to ease up on the cardio. I’ve taped my knee and will give it a rest from walking, but thinking I’ll try some easy yoga or weights today instead. I’m really determined to get my eating in check this week. It will only happen with stringent tracking, so that’s what I’m going to do. My goal is 3 lbs lost for this round. I know that’s not recommended by I need to get this moving. I’ve been stuck at this high weigh for too long.

01/03 - 182.9 Whoosh! I am going to pretend that ugly 185 number didn't happen yesterday because this is where I expected to be - just took another day. The holidays are over and I am down - only .03 pounds but it's down. As long as the weather holds out I'll go for a walk this afternoon. I should be able to get in 3 miles before it's too dark. If I didn't have this stinky job I could really do more trail walking. Go home, get my dog and head to Kill Creek Trail for a day of romping in the chilly sunshine. Instead I'll stay here in my office and work
01/04 - 183.2 And back up we go. This roller coaster ride is making me queasy! I got in 5 miles yesterday - the fastest I have ever walked that far. I don't care if I'm up a little bit, I'm healthier than I was 24 hours ago. I'm going to go at least 3 tonight maybe 4 who knows.
01/05 - 183.0 The roller coaster goes down. I did eat back all of my calories yesterday, which I never do so I'm glad to see a small reduction today. I got to leave work a little early and talk a nice sunny winter 3 mile walk. Finally taking Christmas down today - that will burn some calories Then a walk this afternoon and then WHO KNOWS!
01/06 - 182.7 I did get in 3 miles yesterday. Took down the tree and spent quality time with family. That's as good as a Saturday gets. Today taking the Christmas stuff I went thru to goodwill and another walk I think. I'm traveling for work this week and need to exercise while I can. I won't be able to on Tuesday or Wednesday so walk today, gym tomorrow, two days off then back on the trail on Thursday.
01/07 - 183.0 After a one day dip the roller coaster goes up a bit. Probably the sodium from yesterday's lunch. I was under on calories and walked 4 miles. I'm not sure what else I can do but stick to the plan and know it works. I have five days left and I'm afraid I'll be right where I started. I have a four hour drive this afternoon then I'll stop at a gym close to my hotel for weights. Of course my food will be difficult this trip because I will have limited options for food tomorrow and Wednesday. I'm going for training where they bring in sandwiches, then a company dinner, then more sandwiches the next day. I hate these trainings where we don't get to go to lunch but have to eat whatever is brought in. I'm picky and do not like cold sandwiches. First world problems I know but when you're watching what you eat it's impossible to avoid sodium - it will be sliced turkey, beef, chicken, or ham. ALL salt bombs. Overly mayonnaise potato salad and cookies for dessert. The only thing I like is the cookie. They feel they're being healthy by offering turkey on wheat, and oatmeal raisin cookies. Maybe this time will be different. Maybe...

01/03 286.4 and 8.0pounds down since I started. Hoping to find Fitbit charger so I can accurately check my calories burned daily.
01/04 285.2 I normally weigh in every morning after I get up and pee so this is a nice way to be able to log everything. *Update on my day although not weight related* Found out my father in law has cancer in the hips and lungs today, feeling so down and bad for my MIL. They are such good people and she lost her dad last January so this is really a blow to her.
01/05 284.9: 9.1 lbs down. Maybe tomorrow I’ll hit 10. 🤞🏾🤞🏾
01/06 286.2: and frustrated. Didn’t lose but gained and was really hoping to hit my 10 lb loss today. I drank some wine last night but was still in my calorie allotment so I’m feeling like it was the pad thai and all those carbs. Anyhow, here’s to a new day. I got a new Fitbit yesterday as well so hoping that will help motivate me with steps and everything. I’ve also had a killer headache since last night and today will probably be a lazy day.
01/07 287.4 and really annoyed now. How the hell did I gain 3 pounds this weekend? I stayed below my calorie limit even though it was a little higher than the last few days. It has to be the carbs. I did read that a Norma daily fluctuation can be 3-5 pounds but it sucks to see any higher number when I’m working so hard to lose. Anyhow, today will be a good day. I have an interview for a healthcare job that I’ve wanted for a while. Luck and prayers are being accepted!

01/03 = 160 So far so good with my eating. I kind of hate being back on the wagon, but the day is almost over, so very little opportunity left to fall off.
01/04 = 158.5 very happy to see the scale move in the right direct for the first day, even if I know, intellectually, one day's change is pretty meaningless. Today was a good day for moving and good for eating. I found my lost fitbit and stuck it on the charger so I can be more accurate with sleep and step tracking.
01/05 = 158.1 Yesterday was a good day. Hit all my water in and didn't snack late night, even though I really wanted to. Today will be tougher because we are going to a brewery for lunch with friends and they don't have nutritional information available. I have to guess.
01/06 = 157.1 restuarant visit yesterday went well. I'm doing a dry January, so even though we ate at a brewery, I avoided the most dangerous part of eating out. Also, the food was mediocre, so didn't kill me to eat less that usual. I worked out and did yoga. Drank ridiculous amounts of water. I also took a look at my macro nutrient ratios in the app and adjusted them. Yesterday was my first day of being mindful of my ratios (especially eating enough complex carbs... I had to go searching for them)
01/07 = 155.4 The good: I worked out. I did yoga. I met my water goal. I logged my meals and was mindful of my macros. The not so good: I could have eaten more. I am suspicious of the exercise calorie counter and I didn't eat back most of my exercise calories. This was mistake in hindsight. Today will be the real test. Winter break is over. The kids go back to school and I have to find a new routine that works with real life.

1/3 183 Thanks to advice in the book Finish: Give Yourself the Gift of Done I am cutting my goal in half to a pound and a half per round.. I just dropped 3 lbs in the past week though and am a little nervous that 1.5 may be difficult in the next 10 days but I’m willing to give it a shot.
1/4 183, holding strong after a crazy day yesterday. Ate at Dairy Queen of all places and the stuck to calorie goal for remainder of day
1/5 183, still the same. Going to a party tonight so I’m going to try to be extra mindful of calories (in and out) today.
1/6 181.7, There’s my goal. Now to maintain to the end.
1/7 185.4, lesson learned. Weight gain happens after 2-3 days from excess eating. I think some of this may be water retention but still.

1/4 - 208.4. I’m a little surprised I jumped that much. I worked out two days ago and normally I see a gain after that but I thought it would be gone by now. Hopefully it will be by tomorrow
1/5 - 208.4. Can’t wait for the scale to start moving down again. Woke up today and did a power walk workout on my treadmill. Hopefully I can keep things in check this weekend.
1/6 - 208.4. I guess this is okay given it’s the weekend and I normally gain over the weekend. Will plan and drink lots of water today.
1/7 - 208.2. Very slow progress but what is positive about this number is that for the first time in almost forever I had a loss over the weekend. I’m going to celebrate that and use it to motivate me. Plan to stay on track today, walk at lunch and try to get a treadmill workout in tonight.12 -
@milktruckd, look at you, almost under 200! You're doing great. I think tracking is key to understanding how your body handles all the changes you are throwing at it.4

@FarmerCarla and @hoshaugh73 As a child I ice skated but was never great. As an adult I made my one venture onto the roller rink. Some charming person threw a handful of marbles on the floor. It was not a pretty sight when I hit one. My skate stopped but I did not. My knee was bruised for months. I would love to be able to ice skate again but as @hoshaugh73 said, I can’t take the fall risk.

We had another beautiful day yesterday and I walked along the river for an hour. Temps are headed down, though, so I'll be back indoors - I'm a cold-weather weenie. This week I'm adding a stretch & flex and a yoga class to my routine.
We cold-weather weenies need to stick together... for warmth! My husband loves the cold. I just engage Turbo Whining Mode and that keeps me a little toasty from sheer energy expenditures.6 -

I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after. I have been participating in this challenge since Round 40, thanks @GrandmaJackie. My average loss/gain since Round 40 to 63 is a 0.5lb loss each round. This was better than I expected!

01/03 - Thursday - 177.4 - Man, its incredible how quickly things snowball! My holiday indulgences have done a number on my habits. I've got all these cravings and little desire to stick to my habits. I know this too shall pass but its currently an uphill battle. Fortunately this time, I know its not the beginning of the end, just another opportunity to hone my skills and habits and learn a little along the way. In past attempts, these stumbles were the end of my journey but not this time - its really a lifestlye change finally!!!
01/04 - Friday - 176.4 - A mildly better day yesterday. I ate fast food at lunch because I was on my own and didnt bring anything. Then I had more fast food for a snack. But I went for a power walk before I left work, and ate a light dinner and it all worked out. Baby steps. I did pack my lunch today, but minimal stuff in the house for food tonight - maybe an aldi shop tonight? Why is it so hard to remember how to eat in healthy moderation all of a sudden? Time to take a look back at my diary and refresh.
01/05 - Saturday - 175.8 - got to Aldi last night, love their pantry staples! Got a plan today to drink my smoothie, have salad for lunch and eat the proper portion size of whatever we decide on for dinner!
01/06 - Sunday - 176.6 - Weekends are still looking like a holiday celebration. Back to work and habits tomorrow!
01/07 - Monday - 176.8 - I went back and read my journal to see what I was doing differently to lose. It really wasnt all that different, I was just being consistent with my morning habits and lunches. So thats what I'm back to focusing on this week; smoothie and supplements for breakfast, pack my lunch, eat a 3PM snack and cook dinner at home. I was also doing 10 somethings (squats/lunges/wall push ups) every bathroom trip and 10 minutes of meditation daily, so working those habits back into the mix as well. The 170's have ALWAYS been like a brick wall to me though, for some reason it has been the end of my journey many many times, but I'm not letting it end me this time!

SW: 210.2
GW: 145ish
1/03: 207.8
1/04: 207.2
1/05: 205.8 - I suspect a lot of this loss is water weight as I have been refraining from alcohol and drinking ~100oz of water a day
1/06: 205.6 - Had planned a day off of working out yesterday, but then got invited to a friend’s to watch football, so hit the gym for a quick workout beforehand to earn some extra calories. They ordered pizza for dinner, and had beer cheese fondue, of which I ate both . I did refrain from drinking alcohol though, which is hard around these friends, so I feel proud for that. I was still under my calorie goal, but only drank 72oz of water (my goal is 100oz each day.) So, overall a fine day, but I could have made more nutritious food choices.
1/07: 204.6 - Had *major* intestinal issues yesterday. Still not feeling 100% today. I took my day off exercise yesterday, but may do it again today until I feel better - will see how I feel late afternoon. I found my Fitbit charger last night (no easy feat 😂), so I can start using that again to track exercise calories a bit more accurately. Today is the first time in over 3 weeks that I’ll have a couple hours to myself at home, so I plan to take “before” photos (felt to awkward trying it when people were home/didn’t have a private space where photos would come out clearly.) I am also planning my first trip to the grocery store since starting this, so I’ll have to be more intentional about reading labels, which is not my strong suit, especially with possibly whiny kids in the cart. I downloaded a step by step mediation/mindfulness app a few days ago (I’ve never tried this before), and I can already tell it’s helping me combat negative thoughts throughout the day - I feel most excited about discovering this in my journey so far! Whew, this was longer than I intended. Thanks for reading!

Some charming person threw a handful of marbles on the floor. It was not a pretty sight when I hit one. My skate stopped but I did not. My knee was bruised for months. I would love to be able to ice skate again but as @hoshaugh73 said, I can’t take the fall risk.
I used to ice skate as a kid. Then, my first semester of college, I slipped on the ice and broke my kneecap. I haven't been skating since!
@puttyputty welcome back! Oh nooooo, I definitely wouldn’t ice skate again either.5 -
@AJB1014, sometimes getting back on track is extremely hard after our breaks. I love your attitude, consistency is the key, one day at a time! “170's have ALWAYS been like a brick wall” I’m looking forward to watching you break down the brick wall!!!6

Thank you @puttyputty
I very much appreciate it. I have not seen under 200lb since Freshmen year in college....24 years ago.
It is has been a journey since being diagnosed with Type II and weighing ~230lb in the middle of 2016.
I am really enjoying this forum to cheer each other on and to hold myself accountable each day. I hope I continue to stay engaged.8 -

Day/Weight/Comment
1/03 - 175.8 - Still a bit of fluid weight. 174.4 my R62 start weight flashed briefly before settling on this. I can wait.?
1/04 -177.6 - Felt miserable all day yesterday. This weird cold/allergy like illness again. Exercised, ate dinner and went to bed later than usual.
1/05 - 177.2 - Started the day feeling lousy and not hungry and on the right side of carbs and calories. Took some cold medicine and ended the day +400 on the wrong side of carbs and calories.
1/06 - 178.2 - My goodness, no surprise though. I opened one of the last bags of those delicious porcini rosemary kettle chips. Ate the heck out of them just before going to bed. I'm feeling much better this morning, so the comfort eating should cease. Although, it's a potentially high carb day, since I'm going to visit my littles.
1/07 - 177.2 - Under 50g net carbs, so very much better than Friday and Saturday. Reigning it in today.

01/03 - 182.0 Happy with this.
01/04 - 181.9 I weighed myself twice this morning and got two different numbers, so this is the average. Crossing my fingers!
01/05 - 183.2 Well that's not very nice! I was over my calories yesterday but I'm guessing this has more to do with water retention or something. Oh well, off to Pilates!
