I'm not sure what my dentist used, but it didn't have any adrenaline in it.
Before the appointment, I took a valium because I was so stressed about it all. Then after she gave me the "freezing". It still didn't numb everything so she went with nitrous oxide.
That's the first time I have had nitrous oxide for dental work!
Between it and the valium, I was m-e-l-l-o-w by the end of the appointment.
I had told my husband that he didn't need to come to the appointment, but he decided to walk there anyway, and was there through it all. It was probably a good thing because he was able to take me home ... by bus. The bus stops at a little grocery store near where we live so we picked up some ice cream, and then walked the rest of the way home.
By the time we got home, I was ready to lie down. I slept for 1.5 hours. I still feel a little bit out of it now, but better than being traumatised by the pain.

Hopefully this will work ... this is my Cadbury Marathon video of me coming across the finish line. It's about 1 minute.
There's a purple into, then you see a child followed by someone in blue shorts. Both of those were in the 5K (they've got red numbers) ........ and then me in a blue top and black knickers (with a yellow number) doing an odd limping jog. My right leg was killing me!!
Then there's a pause while the camera angle changes, and I'm coming across the line again. My right leg didn't have the strength to try to keep in front of the lady overtaking me on the line.

I missed why Felicia is worried about her husband. Could you enlighten me F????
DH still feeling c..p. I slept better and, although I have a deep cough, I don't feel bad in myself. I did my exercises .
My cancer friend emailed all her friends to say she feels upset she isn't seeing people now we aren't going to the hospital with her for the chemo. Today is her birthday and I was going up there for a tea and cake party, which she has cancelled. That's basically why I didn't make other arrangements. She is nearing the end, so probably didn't feel up to it, but I'm sure that's why people haven't made the effort. Oh well. I feel, at her stage, she is entitled to expect more support. I can't imagine how it must be for her, living alone. She has family nearby, but it's not the same.
Don't want to give her my bug, so will go up when I'm not infectious.
Have other friends I need to communicate with. Been busy recently and determined to get my writing done daily.
In fact, must do it now! :noway:

There were several photographers along the way, so this is one of the photos. It's at about 18 km into the run. My legs had decided they had enough and I'd started to walk. Then I looked up and saw the photographer in the distance so I started slowly jogging again.
(Yeah, I've put on a bit of weight last year. I wasn't focusing on diet. Hopefully I'll be able to take it off this year.)

Janet - Olivia is soo cute!!
I'm feeling better this morning. I think I will avoid caffeine again today to be sure.
On shoes, to be fair, if I was walking a mile to the bus or to work like Machka, I too would wear different shoes. The heels have been dubbed the Kids Wedding Shoes. I bought them for my best friends daughters wedding and then wore them again to the kid's wedding....hence the name. Now the pressure is on to wear them when the other 4 (eventually) get married. Luckily gold is a neutral so it will be easy. I only wear heels for weddings these days. I had the jobs in the past where we had to wear heels and hose every day. Don't miss those days at all. As for flats, I wear them all the time. I find the pointy toe ones very comfortable and can walk around shopping in them all day.

Good morning ladies, it is snowing heavily in Liverpool, the really thick white stuff. We very rarely get this here as we are sheltered by Pennines and Irish Sea. Looks nice but I had plans to go out today, never mind.
Have been watching docuseries Live Longer Feel Better great stuff, sorry I can't remember who gave the link.
Re juicing, have been looking online and there are various discussions re juicing vs blending. I have a blender already and think maybe blending is the one to try as you keep the fibre. One Dr recommends juicing if you have a chronic condition but blending for the rest of us.
Just found out today that our next door neighbour of 50 years is now in a hospice, near death. She used to babysit my kids. Upsetting because her son (who had POA I think) arranged this, emptied the house and is now going to rent it out. He doesn't live in Liverpool but didn't have the decency to tell us (it probably happened while we were on holiday but he could have left a note or a phone message)
Kate (in Liverpool where it is still snowing)8 -
Kate It probably wasn't personal, just thoughtless. People under duress are often thoughtless. I forgot to tell one of my high school friends that my mom had died and she missed the funeral. She was so upset. I didn't mean to leave her out. It was just a thoughtless stressed out goof-up.
I hope you see your neighbor before she dies. Sending (((hugs))) to you. 50 years is a lot of history...a long friendship...and my gosh, have you lived in the same house your entire life? That's a story we need to hear.
Karen in Virginia who has lived in her house for about 15 years3 -
JanetR - What an amazing photo of Olivia--she's absolutely gorgeous.
Allie - Unfortunately, you can't save everyone in a work situation, you can only save yourself. If you like the office manager a lot, though, you might want to gently advocate for her with the boss, in the sense of telling him how much better things are for you since she arrived. That kind of positive feedback might help him change his mind, especially if the boss likes and trusts you.
Kelly - you're a saint, my dear. I would have been hacked off that there was no full disclosure on the youngster's issue so you could make a rational decision based on your overall workload. You might well have decided to chance it, but it should have been your decision. My sympathies for both you AND the mom, honestly. I would bet she's been through more than one childcare provider who weren't as well-equipped as you to handle it. I also feel sorry for the child who has been his little brother's sole source of comfort and peace. It's a lot of pressure to put on a young heart and mind, being your brother's keeper.
Machka - I LOVED the only time I was given nitrous oxide, because I end up tensing every muscle when they're working in my mouth, and I'm exhausted by the time it's complete. The nerve block injections actually work on me, can't imagine how I'd feel if they didn't!
Okie - I've got a Fitbit Charge HR2, which I've had for almost three years now (I think, hard to remember). It does all that and more, as well, and I can get pretty bands for it (which you can for most of them now).
For those who commented, I'm pretty danged happy, and getting happier in my work environment. It's a blast to be feel valued, treasured even, and I genuinely hope this will be the last place I ever work. It would be nice to be able to get to Social Security age (2 years and two months away!) and be inclined to keep working because I love my job.
Please note, due to my Air Force wife-dom for 27 years, lots of consulting work, and circumstances both within and outside of my control, the longest time I have ever been in any position is four years. That was when I was in the military myself, and they shoot you if you leave! (an exaggeration, but they CAN slap you in jail).
In a civilian position, my longest time at a job was two years and five months, as an assistant controller at an oilfield services company. In April 2022, if I hit 62 years old in this job and decide to retire, I'll have been in it for two years and four months. I might have to stick around 'til June of that year just to say that it was my longest-held civilian job!
Love y'all,

I do have high heels for when I go to the symphony ... but then I'm sitting most of the time.
The ballet flats don't work because they give me blisters and sores on the back of my foot (achilles tendon area). I've actually had them rub holes into me! They also put pressure on my arthritic joint in front. It took me a while to figure something out ... when I wore shoes with a bit of a heel, I didn't get blisters and sores etc, but I did with flats. And then I got it ... it's the angle of my foot. When I'm in a shoe with a bit of a heel, my foot is at a different angle.
We each have to find what works ... life is too short for uncomfortable shoes.
And ... in my mellow "la-la" state after the dental appointment, I kept telling my husband about my new red shoes and then wore them for a while this evening. They're comfy!!

Allie Lisa's insightful post reminded me of this poem by Mary Oliver:
The Journey
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice--
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do--
determined to save
the only life you could save.7 -

They've never worked on me. I've always had to be given so much anaesthetic that the entire side of my face, including my eyeball and up into my hair, and right down my neck to my shoulder has been "asleep".
After a dental appointment, I've pretty much always had to come home and go to sleep because I've felt so awful. And yes, I tense up a lot too!!
This was better ... still painful, but I was more relaxed and didn't care as much. The only thing was that I really badly wanted to fall asleep in the dental chair ... I felt like I was right on the edge of dropping into a really deep sleep, and felt a bit frustrated that I didn't.
Oh well, I've been pretty relaxed this evening.

Karen you're probably right, I would like to see her and go to the funeral.
We moved into this house October 1969 when my son was 6 months old, it was what we call a Council house which we then bought when the Govt introduced Right to Buy scheme. It is a mid terrace with front and back garden on an estate. The estate has seen ups and downs and lots of changes over the years but we've always had good neighbours. We've made a lot of changes to the house as DH is a very useful guy, he was an electrition by trade but built our kitchen units and installed new bathroom central heating etc. Also installed toilet and washroom downstairs. We are city lovers, have a country park near and great bus service ( free with our bus passes) access to beaches just a short train ride away also free.
Snow has now turned to sleet
Kate UK8 -
Kate Wow. That's a neat story. You have become stewards of your Council house!
(((Beth))) I know you were simply trying to figure out the reason that Mom didn't forewarn Kelly...and I think you were very likely correct about her reason. My heart does go out to her in the most poignant, empathic way possible. The grandson that I online school is a Meltdown Man (not as severe as Kelly's little man). His parents have been at their wits end for 12 years, but he's a lot better now, since his dad has finally laid off him, & since he is getting his schooling online.2 -

Kate - I'm on the other side of the Pennines, no snow here in York (yet) thank goodness, although it was frosty this morning. I'm keeping an eye on the weather forecast.
On shoes, I'm another one that can't wear heels, I was never into the high stiletto type anyway, but liked a high wedge. Now I go for small heels but not flats.
Heather - I hope you feel better soon, and hope your DH recovers from his chest infection .
Janet - Olivier is beautiful, pretty eyes.
Need to get some chores done, been looking after my dad whilst mum went to Asda.
Have a good Friday

Karen in VA ~ Thanks for the link for purchasing the non-stick liner. I immediately went to Amazon and it's on its way!
Lovely poem!
Janet ~ Olivia is a gem....just beautiful!
My task for today is to give the Pom a bath. I have started giving myself two tasks to accomplish each day and it is making me feel more useful.
Carol in GA5 -
i was just NOT into working out today, i just didn't have it in me. muddled thru it though5

Yvonne, ditto Katla's thanks for the "National Religious Freedom Day" posting. Good ol' Jefferson
Lisa, Hope and joy and plans... and open doors? Give her all she's got, Scotty!
KJ "My mom hates me! You hate me! I'm bad!" . Thank God indeed for your special training, your loving heart, your self control in the midst of the maelstrom. Could it be that you are being called to offer more than day care, but specialized adaptive care for the autistic ones? Could it be a premium service with fewer hours?
Karen in VA "shame on Mom for not giving you a heads up" words from my mind. Had to google "exit ticket" wish we'd had that when I was in school! Can't wait to hear the percentage puzzlers you posed "purchasing his dream Lamborghini, HotWheels, Slime, take-out food from his favorite restaurant..." There, knew they'd be great! Can Carol and I sign up for Grammy's next Math day? "persuasive essay"? Brilliant! But uh oh, watch out for that "vivid language" "...slowly recognized as your own..." poem gave me shivers, the good kind. "since his dad finally laid off him..." and since mean Grammy intervened. What a blessing you are to them both!
Beth "...no failure in that." well said. What autonomy will your son miss?
Carol wishing the same for you, and for all whose pain keeps from getting the benefits of moving.
Lanette "...when HIS birthday was..."
Janet in MO " just pick one area to work on right now" Yes! Baby steps will move you forward. Well done!
Okie does intermittent fasting trigger the acid reflux? Great toe cleavage but OWW, toes are more like the base of the triangle than the apex. Remember a "what not to wear" episode where the gal compared her foot to a slice of pizza to explain her strong objection to pointed shoes. I strongly agreed. Crocs, Blochs, Naot, New Balance, Taos and Beech yoga toe sandals for me
NYKaren Fingers Xd for the crown vs root canal.
Felicia Freak out all you need to here...so you can appear calm to your DH. Agree that they would not let him walk around if they really thought he had blood clots, wouldn't they'd have him in the ER getting blood thinners? "...reluctant to bail on another teach so close to the start time" Can you help me understand what the teach is and what is starting? Oh thankful for the good news but still wondering why the test was positive and why your DH feels so poorly.
Cari
-If you were to send a thank you note to someone, whom would you thank? My Mama, she always felt under-appreciated, and as usual she was RIGHT!
-Who is a good friend to you? Candy was for 30 years, loved me regardless. Now it's Joe. He doesn't react when I'm flipping out, takes wonderful care of the dogs and me, and somehow has found the courage to speak the truth when needed, despite my kneejerk reflexes
-What small thing did you do recently, that made someone very happy? Fostered one of my T'ai Chi Buddy's plants while she was in Scotland to celebrate new grandbaby's first Christmas. All but two of the air plants survived
Rita does your DH know about your green squeeze?
Katla "tangle of blood vessels in the back of his eye" ? Yikes!
Tracey "the only one that ever truly loved him" Good luck with the loan, any employment opportunities on the horizon?
pip want to smoooooch those pooches.
Machka delighted to hear the nitrous helped! REALLY delighted your DH was able to be there for you, sure it felt good for him to return the favor Sounds like root canal and not extraction? Con VERY grats for completing the race with a big smile despite the painful leg! Hooray for red shoes!!!
Kathy in KY if that HS councilor is still working, please DO take your son's diploma to him. Could change him for the better and for his future students' best.
Sue in WA hopeful news, safe travels!
Janet that Olivia looks like a model! Her apple didn't fall far... Thanks for the Track 3 recommendation.
Kate in Liverpool for the news of your longtime neighbor.
Lisa thanks for the Charge HR2 recommendation. Hoping you'll love this job well enough to enjoy staying all the way to full retirement age
Not for mealtime reading:Joe just called urgently "Barbara! Come here! He POOPED! GOOD POOP!" Cause for rejoicing as Scooter (who is subject to pancreatitis) had 3 bouts of diarrhea Wednesday night (ugh) and was blocked up Thursday. The things we're thankful for. :laugh:Please keep those fitness tracker comments coming.
Many thanks, Lighter, lovelies!

Kayla check out my blog on RV tips and trips. PM me if you want the web address. We’re not supposed to post them on here. My DH focuses on eating and suggests cooking and deboning chicken before you leave so you can make salads, sandwiches, and easy to heat meals along the way. My suggestion is make sure you bring plenty of bottled water. 8 bottles per day per person.

Tracy in Edmonton: Fingers crossed for your loan. I hope the insurance comes through and things get sorted out in your favor.
Karen in VA: You are amazing! I love hearing about your grandson.
TerriRichards: I love your green clover. Where did you find it?
M in Oz: Your red shoesare wonderful. I predict that you enjoy them. Fingers crossed for a painless root canal. :flowerforyou:
Sue in WA: I hope the infusion your DH has in Seattle will be effective and have ho unpleasant side effects.
Kim: My last experience with Michaels wasn’t very good, either. JoAnn’s is much better. Both are about 25 miles away from where I live. :ohwell:
Janetr: Olivia is a beautiful girl! :flowerforyou:
DH has an appointment with his eye doctor this morning and can’t find his hearing-aides. We’re off to a less than optimal start. I hope things get better.

Cari - I cannot give up my crafts either. I have been a crafter since I was a child and have had many interests over the years. When my girls were teens I didn’t make time for crafts for a couple of years. It really messed with my mental health looking back on it.
Karen - love the “torture” you have planned for today. I can’t wait to hear about it.
Allie - hope the new doctor soon realizes he is being rude and things settle down. Work stress affects everything.
Machka - great to hear dentist procedure went well
Kate - I agree with Karen. My brother and I were not able to remember everyone when our Dad passed. We decided if we told the most “gossipy” people we knew word would spread. 4 years later there were still people telling us they weren’t aware. Her son is probably just trying to get through.
Barbara - I have been applying for jobs abd there are lots posted to apply for. The problem is there are still 1000’s unemployed here with lots of experience and education. The last I heard from anyone in s hiring position there were on average 200 applicants in the first day of a job posting. The stats say the unemployment rate is lower but if you talk to people on the street it is only that EI has ended for a lot of people. So I’m still applying and being hopeful.
Today I am going to go hide in the craftroom. I have a lot to accomplish in the next week. My granddaughters birthday party is next Saturday and then my daughters birthdays are Feb 3 and 5!
Have a great day everyone

Barbara - I hadn’t noticed any difference with the IF vs normal eating. I think it was the canned diet coke I drank quickly because I was tired and heading out the door for an appt. Much better today. One thing I’m loving about IF is it cuts down my snacking. I am a HUGE snacker. Since I have a hard cut off time for eating, then I can’t snack. I have had to remember to have my gummy vitamins during my window instead of at bedtime
Okie3 -
Thank you for letting me post grandson posts. I’ll settle down soon.12
