Hi, @BCLadybug888 - sounds like you have a lot of fun coming up!
That walking will burn calories, and I know you know to eat lightly when the food is routine, and indulge more in the special things.
Good reminder, thanks Ann!2 -
Difficult day today.
Between a family member having a medical emergency, and my kid’s partner’s kid (de facto my grandchild) being bruised by intentional forceful mishandling (abuse) by their daycare provider on their first day?
And now they’re afraid of “making my teacher mad”????
Worry for the family member
And absolute RAGE towards the person who put hands on a 5 year old.
Mama’s not going to allow that person around the kid again if at all possible. But in some respect the harm has been done. A sweet child who is respectful and (age appropriate) tries hard to listen and be a good kid has learned that there are some people who are dangerous and love to power trip on people who are smaller.
Their world got less magical today and that day care provider is lucky I don’t know their name or where they live. Because at the very least they would be getting envelopes full of glitter for weeks.
😡
Am I stress eating?
Yes.
But I am keeping it down to stuff like ONLY ONE Hershey bar. And some cut fruit, and stuff like that. Because if there was a day where stress eating was a reasonable option? Today is that day.5 -
Congratulations @BCLadybug888 I agree with what @AnnPT77 said about your trip coming up.May I suggest checking out "half size me" on YouTube playlist on eating during vacation? It has some good insights. Sorry I've been MIA lately, been very busy & tired while having new floor put down. We've had that carpet for 20years & it was awful! Husband & I didn't do the actual work but I had to move things around every day & clean some things. Husband couldn't help at all because he started getting pain in his leg about 3-4 weeks ago. He finally went to his Dr & found out he has arthritis in that leg/knee so he's been using some cream on it, it's better in the last couple days.3

I am off the cruise ship, and did "eat lightly when the food is routine, and indulge more in the special things"! Which, including a few adult beverages, came to about 2400 calories daily...walking up and down the length of the ship added steps, as did excursions, and averaged 9/10,000, so I think I at least came out even. Was a wonderful time, lots of talented musical entertainment.
I am now in New York City for 5 days, and the walking has amped up considerably - today I am back in my room at 16,400 steps!
Will be interesting to see what the scale reflects when I get home (and the dust settles).
I ❤️ NY6 -
I am back a few days, back eating well and the scale is cooperating - down a few lbs already, 3 more to go to get back to my 'pre-trip low'. Had a GREAT vacation, would go back to NYC in a heartbeat - really great city (or Manhattan is at any rate lol).
My exciting news though is, starting today, I am doing the BodySlims program for 10 weeks. It is a weightloss program aimed at your mental state and run by a performance coach (online, originates in Ireland). Has calorie and activity goals, of course (move more - eat less) but it's focus is tearing down limiting beliefs, developing good habits, and getting our heads in the right place.
Which is the component I am missing. I certainly know what to do, it's just doing it well enough is apparently where I get lost!
Will still be logging my foods in MFP diary and posting comments here as there are no community forums in BodySlims (there is a FB group, but I'm not on FB, and I'm not sure it's official anyway).
It will be a good 10 week gung-ho run up to Xmas at any rate, and that can't hurt. 😃5 -
@BCLadybug888 That program sounds interesting and I really hope you see success with it. I tried Noom last Spring and learned some new things from it. My daughter played several different sports while growing up. And she learned different skills from different coaches; skills that were universal to all sports (and life in general). I think that's kind of the same when we try new weight-loss programs. Even if the program doesn't 100% "click" for us, we learn something new; something that we'll always have in our tool box.
I just got home from a "Women's Wellness Weekend" with my daughter at an equine facility. We spent two full days outside, with a view of the Rocky Mountains in the distance, surrounded by horses, and it was wonderful. I love horses but I am not what you would call a "horsey person". I've always been very nervous around them. But after a weekend of observing, brushing, tacking up, and finally riding, I feel like I'm a bit better person today than I was last week (if that makes any sense). So it was a great weekend. And I got to spend time with my daughter, which is always a blessing ❤️6 -
@BCLadybug888, @ridiculous59: I like your positive attitudes! I was gone for 3 months at a remote off grid bush camp, with people who mostly eat meat, fatty foods and very little vegetables or grains. Of course all delicious, salty and lots of fat. My goal was to maintain. I was thrilled when I got home to step on my scale and see that I was successful! I did indulge in a few meals at restaurants when we got back to the land of restaurants, fast foods, and grocery store temptations. I am back in focus again, and continuing on! I'm at the lowest weight I've been in years, and enjoying going through my overabundance of clothes to see what fits again, and donate things that are too big now. I hope the BodySlims program is a good fit for you, and also agree that we do learn something new to add to our toolboxes as we move along towards healthier goals!2
