2/3: 195 -🥂🎂 today starts my last year in my 30s. Would love to be 140lbs and fit by this day next year. Went out to dinner last night to celebrate and had a martini and a beer, but made good food choices otherwise. About to head to the gym. Having grilled steak and veggies for dinner with family at home tonight, and chocolate cake, mmm.

2/4: 194.6 - Hit all my goals yesterday. Got to sleep in, played in the snow with the kids for 2+ hours, enjoyed my birthday dinner and cake - it was a good day.

2/5: 194.2 - Snow is really messing with my mojo. Kids didn’t have school yesterday, gym closed, and both won’t be open again today. Our power went out yesterday AM, and our furnace busted when it came back on - no heat from 9am-5pm 🥶 <— actual photo of me. Ate under calories and didn’t have drinks, but those are the only goals I met.

Crept back to JGM10D quietly and somewhat inconsistently in Round 60 but now I am back (for reals!)

2/2 - 132.8 - yesterday just under maintenance calories, 7500 steps.
2/3 - 132.8 - yesterday under my calories for modest loss goal (1/2 lb a week), 7700 steps.
2/4 - 133.8 - overate yesterday, got too hungry then had trouble STOPPING when I ate, then the day was kindof out the window. About 250 cals over maintenance. 7000 steps. Woke up at 3 this morning and didn't sleep much after that, I am trying to tell myself I can be really productive at work today anyway ... Right?

I am a 50 year old 5'5" woman. I am trying to get healthier to avoid diabetes and all of the problems that come from being overweight.

I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after. I have been participating in this challenge since Round 40 My average loss/gain since Round 40 to 63 is a 0.5lb loss each round. This was better than I expected!

Allrecipes~Mushroom Bok Choy Soup

Stacey Homemaker~Bok Choy Mushroom Barley Soup

These are two recipes I looked at after deciding what I would put in my soup. I don't cook using recipes. I made this soup with vegetables I needed to use up. When I make it again, I will use 1 cup each of radish and carrot slices and a lot more bok choy. I did not need to add water.

8 ozs baby bella mushrooms, cleaned, sliced thinly
9 baby bok choy, washed, cut into 2 inch pieces
1 large carrot, cut into thin shavings with mandoline or vegetable peeler
2 large red radishes, cut in thin slices
1 32 oz box chicken bone broth (or vegetable broth)
8 ozs chicken stock
1 inch fresh ginger, grated
1 medium sweet onion, medium dice
1 clove minced garlic
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes, approximate, to your taste, I really just shake some in
2 tsps celtic sea salt, approximate, to taste
Ground white pepper, to your taste
1 tsp ground ginger, approximate
1 tsp garlic powder, approximate
1 TBS sesame oil
1.5 TBS avocado oil
1TBS unsalted butter

Saute, onion, garlic and mushrooms in avocado oil until onion is translucent. Add sesame oil, grated ginger, carrot, radish, and bok choy, salt, pepper, garlic powder and ground ginger. Add 8 ozs chicken stock. Simmer until bok choy wilts. Add red pepper flakes. Add 32 ozs chicken bone broth. Bring to full boil, then reduce heat to low, add butter. Cook for 5 -10 minutes.

02/02 141.4 night at the in laws and I tried to eat as little of what they dished out as possible (with success) but it was so high in calories and such little food, found myself starving. To make matters worse my man was hungry when we got home too and wanted Chinese food (we usually have Chinese once a year but some how managed to have it twice in the past week) I decided to order with him but only a steamed, veggie side platter. So although that is a NSV for me, as I am sure like many of you, its a weakness for me to order that food, smell it and see it without indulging, i am still sure it was salty, hence the small gain.

02/03 no weigh in. Last night was my little cousins bday party and I will be honest, I didn't attempt to stop myself or log my food. This particular cousins family serves delicious food and they bake the most amazing desserts (she is a professional baker) and I know when I go to parties she is catering, there is no way I am turning it down. It's high quality and expensive food and I would have really been missing out not eating what she doled out. I know I am not supposed to see food like that but it is only twice a year I get her delicious desserts so YOLO. We will see how that is reflected in tomorrow's weigh in, regardless of how good I have been today

02/04 143.2 between super bowl and my cousins birthday, i didn't stand a chance. I was fine for the majority of the day but as the night wore on, my temptation heightened. I gave in and ate nachos and some Reese peanut butter cups. I am going to need to start being more diligent on weekends again, they are beginning to become a struggle and lately are the reason for my up ticks. I don't think I have had a strict weekend since Christmas.

02/05 143.2 feeling bloated today. I worked out yesterday and restarted my insanity program, which usually jump starts my weight loss. Why I didn't loose, I don't know but I am assuming this weekend's salt and goodies did damage my progress more than I thought. I ate well, got in 1.6 liters of water and worked out good. I am hoping for a change tomorrow.

😆 haha, thanks! To be fair, I didn’t want to open the fridge most of the day, to preserve the food inside while the power was out, so that helped keep calories down a lot. But 4 and 6 year old boy energy is no joke, even under the best of circumstances. I have only told my husband he needed to come home from work once since having kids (the other time was when my then 2 year old threw a fork at me and it stuck in my head like some sort of freakish cartoon,) but I made him come home yesterday to deal with the furnace people, because I just couldn’t with the kids and no power and being so cold yesterday.

02/02 219.8 drank my water, closed my circles, > 13k steps. Off to a good start! In January, I didn’t really change my food, but I did drop alcohol for #dryjanuary and added in exercise. I wanted to try and incorporate small changes along the way that I could sustain. This month I will really start tracking food, and being aware of making better choices. 🤞🏻

27th Round for me: Female 65, height 5’
Goal this round: To get out of the 160’s or at least consistently not above 160. Right now even ½ lb. per round would seem great. This is the same goal as last round. Was feeling discouraged until I looked at a year ago and realized that I’m only down 4 lb. but I have established a “new normal.” I’m at the upper range of that the beginning of this round. Before starting at the gym and then joining this group, I was gaining about 5 lb. a year. So all my changes have me close to the 150’s instead of into the 170’s.

Ultimate Goal Weight – 128; Hoping to be under 140 by end of June. (Not sure if this is possible for me but even well down in the 150’s would be better than where I am at now.)

Popped up a lb. at the beginning of last round and ended up in the same place. Not sure why the beginning of a round there is often a jump. Anyway, I use the last day of the last round as my start weight.

02/02 – 162.4 – Gym yesterday, nice to get in a good workout. It’s a year since I started at the gym and even with 2-3 times a week has made a huge difference in how I feel and, I think, look. Planning to take measurements later today.
02/03 – 163 – Have been unusually good about the cals., so was expecting to go down.
02/04 – 162.8 – A little LNS last night but managed to stop at a couple of cookies. Off to the gym today.
02/05 – 162.6 – Good workout yesterday. Will try out the treadmill, that we have been “storing” for our daughter for years, at home today. Hubby uses it regularly. I tried one at the gym when I first went but couldn’t seem to get the rhythm. I prefer walking outside but it’s icy and we have very steep streets.

Ending Weight Round 66: 153

Last night I was looking through photos on phone. Wow, am I thinner than 15 months ago. I checked my weight back then, and I can’t believe I’m 40lbs down.

But the really amazing part was looking at photos from May 2018. I look so much leaner. Again, I checked, and I’m about 20lbs down. This is notable because my Inner Critic has been saying “See, you’ve barely lost anything since April.” NOT!! I look - and feel - light years better. Kicks that voice to the door!

Then I decided to take my
Measurements - basically ALL of them. LOL
Measured waist holding it in & natural, for example. Amazingly, my hips have gotten smaller. I guess muscle does take up
Less space! If someone had told me this was even possible, I would have said “no way.”

Very happy. If you are mid-weight loss journey, I beg you to keep going. You will not believe how much better you will feel - and look. My goal all along was to lose enough that I felt good about myself and would be willing to fight to maintain it.
It will likely take another 5-10 lbs, but I’m not giving up. I’d like a 30 inch waist. After seeing my hips shrink smaller than I could have ever imagined, I’m beginning to my believe waist will actually trim down too.😇
