“If you stopped losing now youd be fine.” “You look healthy and normal now.”
You might look too thin if you lose too much more.”
🙄 that last one bothers me.
I know people mean well but they don’t understand that just because I appear fine doesn’t mean I’m a healthy weight or that I’m personally happy where I’m at.

My colleague protested when I refused snacks saying I needed to lose 2 more pounds. She shrieked in revolt when I informed her that my doctor says I need to lose 12 pounds because of my height 4'11" and the Asian American BMI chart. I assured her I'll be content at 2 more pounds of loss because it will be my high school weight as an athletic cheerleader 30 years ago.

"Tell me your secret! I can't ever lose weight."
Then, I tell them, and they grimace and say, "Oh, I'm definitely not doing that."
Kay, well, have fun staying exactly the same, then!

I had a pretty frustrating reaction last night. We had a dinner with my husband's family at my in-laws. The dinner is an annual pasta night - with three giant bowls of spaghetti and meatballs, linguine in clam sauce, and a baked ziti with spinach and sausage. Bread, and salad. I gave myself a fairly small portion of pasta, and a small piece of bread, and drank water. I didn't drink wine nor did I eat the ice cream cake dessert.
Multiple uncles, in their 50s and 60s, who were on their second or third full plate, groaned at me while saying "you can't be done yet!" and rolled their eyes at the small plate I ate, and the fact that I didn't go for seconds when there was so much food leftover.
I managed to keep my dinner around 600 calories while they easily ate 2,000 worth of pasta, bread, wine, and ice cream. I haven't felt that judged in a long, long time

A lot of people have told me I seem taller since losing weight or that my legs look longer. Meanwhile, I feel a little bit shorter - because when I'm seated, I sit lower in the seat due to having less fat on my legs and butt. I also sit lower in my car. I'm still a fairly tall woman at just under 5'8" but it's funny when people say "I never thought of you as so tall".
