Amazing number of moves. You must be adventurous and flexible to withstand all the moves, and a very good sport, too. 😇

I'll find out tomorrow what sort of eating damage was done, although I'm hoping that my general lack of appetite, after throwing up my brunch about a week ago, has worked in my favour where the lack of exercise will not.
Machka in Oz
My lack of appetite helped! I only gained 0.5 kg.

📙Accountability post for Saturday, April 27th
✖️1. Carbs 50g max with no more than 25g per meal. (127g)
✖️2. Fiber 25g. (20g)
✔️3. Track in MFP. Complete the entry daily.
✔️4. Exercise - log 30 Fitbit minutes (30 Active minutes).
✖️5. No eating after 9pm.
✖️6. In bed by midnight.
• Overall Feeling. Really good. Slept well and woke up feeling refreshed.
• Exercise. I got it. Another day of lots of housework activity but too many pauses to not count active minutes. I check my Fitbit and find I have 3000 steps but only 10 minutes. So I go for a walk.
• Eating deadline. Not tonight. Got stuck putting away food late tonight. Hubs ordered pizza and I had a slice.
• Bedtime-Sleep Hygiene. I didn't get in bed by midnight. But I'll be there by 12:30pm. Hope to be asleep in an hour or less. We'll see.
• Bright Spot today. My 6 sibs and I all saying "good night" in our group text. And Mom (92) wanted to send them a good night kiss - so I recorded it and sent it to the group. Sweet! ❤
• Today I’m grateful for:
1. That great night of sleep I had last night. (Friday). Pray I have another one tonight.
2. The ability to group text with my 6 sibs. The oldest is 71. The youngest is 56.
3. Water. Delicious well water. Although I tend to drink it cool from the filtered water tap in our fridge. Very thirsty today. Drank 120 oz today.
4. Our dishwasher. It's humming away quietly now.
5. Bic medium point blue ink pens. The crystal barrel style. It's been my writing pen of choice for many, many years.
Melatonin on board. Headed to bed.

mojitos are not keto, haha Had a blast learning salsa tonight, drove winter away. My knees are killing me, can’t walk. Our 87 year old friend had a blast. Family place, 10 customers, genuine Cuban chef cooking over fire and and entertainment!💃🏻 What more could you ask for on Saturday night. Blow away the cobwebs.
Allie. On keto too. My chronic pain dr says mustard works on calcium pathways. This may be why TUMS works for KatIa. I take electrolytes daily; total colectomy & jpouch 25 years ago, need to carefully watch I’m hydrated & keep electrolytes balanced.
Lanette. Cool trick with spoiler, I have lots to learn about soc.med. techniques.🤓
Heather. BBC 4 is the best, been listening for ages. Love the voice of the host on “The Moth”. Check out WBEZ in Chicago 91.5, lots and lots of great NPR podcasts. CBC in Cda pretty decent too.
Tuition Did honours BSc cognitive psych, law degree & masters of law. Total cost about $35K in 80s/90s in Canada. I worked my butt off to pay for it. Was it worth it? Yes, but I like beading late at night & looking after Mom, much better. You couldn’t have told me that 30 years ago. I thought my exit plan was to teach at uni and travel, never thought I’d be here. Turns out it’s OK!🤣🦉6 -

I'm glad we came home on a Saturday. We've had today to relax and catch up on a few things. Laundry done, some stuff put away, getting organised and will do some homework in a minute.
We also got out for a 2.75 km walk to the beach this afternoon. I was thinking of rowing or doing even more, but I'm still feeling washed out and tired from the flu.

" so do you only do beads and not work in law at all? I sometimes think there might be another field I'd be more comfortable in and certainly make more money. Is seems risky at my age though. I know people who have left teaching and come back and others who've left long term ; (and visa versa).
@coastalgosgal that's a lot of moves, and some big ones- CA Japan Ca Japan Ca Or Wa. IT's nice that the new place is in the same community.
@Machka9Machka9 I never got classes paid for either. I think my brother, then in IT and my SIL in a hard science field both got their masters paid for while they were working. its Nice that you can attend classes during work time. I was impressed they got their master's paid for, but they thought it was par for the course. I don t recall them getting any time off though. That is funny about teachers not wanting to work in the evening. Most teachers I know do some weekends and evenings, or at least late afternoon. A lot of masters and phd classes were at 4pm or 6pm or even 7pm or on Saturday mornings. and most teachers I know do correction and prep on some evenings and weekends. Wow that sounds like an adventure at Lacaneau. I know that general area pretty well as I lived in the region full-time for 2 years and not so far part time for 5 years. When nearby we'd go to Grand Crohot beach (Lège-Cap-Ferret) around every week or two at the end of the day or on weekends. I liked the big natural beaches and beaches for miles. What is the cost for university in Australia? In regards to that instructor, I was teaching in higher ed before I had my masters. and occasionally master's students. when I got my masters' I immediately got more master's classes, but I'm sure that some teaching masters don't have it. instructor is probably means lower pay and adjunct like (or less) position, possibly for same or similar work ( minus publication requirement).
It's a sticking point in some places. She might also have left of her own accord due to unsustainable pay and lack of future. I got my master's degree as security, partly to keep the job I am doing, (was unsure it would be useful) and I'm glad to have gotten it. I'm aiming to finish the phd on the same ground. I don't know if it will be useful, but as I've been teaching in higher ed for a long time it might be. Now its more the idea of finishing what I started. Had I to do over I don't know that I'd have made the plunge. there's been too much other life stuff to deal with and it's been challenging. on the bright side I've met lots of nice people and so on. (as Well as many smart; pretentious politically calculating people !!!). Here they say I very often here the term "panier de crabs" in speaking of higher education atmosphere. it's the opposite of team spirit, people are smiling and then calculating behind one and other's backs to get elected to a position or to get a trip or project financed, or to be the head of something, or included in something. Some speak disparagingly of others do make their way and sometimes invent or at least tell half-truths to make their way. I imagine that can happen in many fields in many countries.
Still slow to start today. It's 11 am and I have done nil other than have breakfast and write to you guys.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
Slept like a baby last night, most unusual.
I couldn't resist, as we've now settled into our permanent home. Rebecca - it's not a competition, I swear, I've just never actually put it all in one place! I've been married to my current and final husband for almost ten years, and was previously US Air Force and then married into the US Air Force. Even I find this list insanely long, and I was living through it:My moves in reverse order:
With my current and final husband:- 2018 - Our forever home, in a tiny town in Arkansas
- 2018 - Fort Smith, Arkansas, rent house
- 2017 - Fayetteville, North Carolina, to stay with our daughter while her husband was deployed
- 2015 - Fort Stockton, Texas for work (this is when we lived in the warehouse)
- 2013 - Longfellow Ranch, 45 minutes south of Fort Stockton, Texas
- 2011 - Coos Bay, Oregon - bought a house to remodel
- 2010 - Lakeview, Oregon - rent house
- 2009 - Fort Stockton, Texas, 1st street - bought a house to remodel
- 2009 - Fort Stockton, Texas, rental condo
- 2009 - Fort Stockton, Texas, mobile home - remarried
- 2008 - Fort Stockton, Texas, rental apartment
- 2008 - Fort Stockton, Texas, my sister's home
- 2006 - East Alton, Illinois, rental home
- 2003 - Euless, Texas, purchased a home
- 2001 - Grapevine, Texas, rented home
- 2000 - Grapevine, Texas, rented condo
- 1998 - Madisonville, Texas, rented home while I was in my master's degree
- 1994 - Las Vegas, Nevada, rented 1/4 of a fourplex
- 1992 - Lowry Air Force Base, Denver, Colorado base housing
- 1991 - Aurora, Colorado, rented apartment
- 1989 - Reading, United Kingdom, base housing for Greenham Common Royal AFB
- 1988 - Newbury, Berkshire, United Kingdom, rented apartment
- 1985 - Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, base housing
- 1983 - Great Falls, Montana, rental apartment
- 1981 - Lakenheath, United Kingdom, rented farmhouse
- 1980 - Lakenheath, United Kindom, rented caravan (trailer), after I married
- 1979 - Lakenheath Royal Air Force Base, first military assignment, on-base dormitory
- 1979 - Lowry Air Force Base, Denver, Colorado, for technical school
- 1979 - Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, for basic training.
- 1978 - Cushing, Texas, staying with my mother while I prepared for the Air Force
- 1978 - Albuquerque, New Mexico, after the carnival went to winter break
- 1978 - All over Central and West Texas and New Mexico (traveled with the carnival)
- 1977 - Nacogdoches, Texas (various friends couches and my grandparent's house, then an apartment)
- 1967 - Cushing, Texas, where I lived from second grade to high school graduation
- 1965 - Black Eagle, Montana, where I started kindergarten
- 1960 - 1965 - My family moved back and forth innumerable times until I was six years old, meaning my brother next up from me was born in Texas, I was born in North Dakota, and my younger sister was born in Montana.
Anyway... now I'm tired from all that moving!
Carol - your grands are just lovely
JanetR in OK - Tuscany looks beautiful! I can see why she'd want to live there.
Julie in France - there are a lot worse things you could do than write to us! To create a spoiler on a computer, highlight the text you want to hide in the spoiler, then go up to the top icons, select the "Spoiler" and your text will hide behind the button when you post your content. The other option is to put [ spoiler ] at the beginning and [ /spoiler ] at the end. (Take out the spaces, had to add them into the code to keep it from triggering).
Goals for today - I have to go get my hair trimmed and my roots done this morning, and other than that, not many, except possibly getting some work done on the quilt I'm creating.
We got the new railing on the porch yesterday. Well - my husband did, while I got on the riding mower and mowed most of the yard. I absolutely adore my husband, but he can be quite annoying to work with. He would probably say the same of me. Some projects simply shouldn't be done together. That was one of them.
We also picked up 100 paving stones to create the first half of the patio we're going to build on the back of the house. We honestly will need twice that many... but will start with half. Unloading them was backbreaking... and now we need to move some VERY large, uneven-footing stones from that space.
My husband wants to use them as the work surface for an outside countertop, which I think is a great idea, but we're going to need a winch to get them on top of any structure, even a small one, so THAT's going to get interesting. May have to wait until we get family visiting and get four or five people to pick each one up.
Love y'all,
The birds are singing the sun up here in the beautiful foothills of the Boston Mountains...

Wish us luck, going to a bday brunch for my bff. Sounds nice right? However, first it’s in a fancy restaurant, second, it’s going to be filled with people we don’t know, third, we will spend time with a couple we no longer share interests with and fourth DH feels pressured to attend and is missing his soccer match to be there. Poor me huh well I will keep remembering that it is a celebration of my bff, I can deal with it, even if it’s filled with people I don’t know, I will try to ask questions and listen to people, I bet they will have fresh fruit to eat and I am telling DH that we need to do things a little out of our comfort zone from time to time. Barbie my best friend knows how uncomfortable these event make me feel and told me that there was no pressure to attend - I still felt that We should be there. Her bday gift is a donation to Oxfam and that is something that is also good about the event. Rant over!!

NYKAREN, You are a very principled person to go the this brunch. I would have been more inclined to send an extremely generous contribution to Oxfam and stay home. Since you're going, it's great to hear that you are using a plan that someone shared with me to see what you can add to the event rather than what you can get out of it. I know your bff will be glad that you are there.
Lisa and Rebecca and Machka, I don't have a listing of all my moves but there have been many. I learned that moving can be a spiritual experience and each move has allowed me to be aware of my possessions and make good decisions about what I really need to keep.
Allie, I stopped going to bars many years ago and decided a few years ago to go to bed early every night. It has made a huge difference in my energy level and freed a lot more time for doing things I consider useful.
Heather, traffic was stopped to allow runners on the Olympic Trail to cross a road near my house and I thought of you and your Parkruns. I imagined you running with all those people and having a glorious time.
My other walking friend is back from Texas and will be coming over at 9:30 for a walk. Her visits to Texas are part of the process of helping her three brothers clean out the home her parents lived in for decades. I have enjoyed hearing about this experience of clutter clearing.

Moves ~ During the first 5 yrs of our marriage, we moved 6 times. We then bought our first house and lived in it for 15 yrs. We have been in our present home since 1991 (28 yrs). Would love to move closer to our son and his family but don't know if that will ever happen.
Bars ~ I must admit that I have never been to a bar by myself...too shy. I am really afraid of new situations and have to build up my courage to attempt new things. With the exception of one or two times when there was no other choice, I have never eaten in a restaurant by myself either.
Good News ~ I have lost 7 lbs since my knee op on the 17th. I think if I can continue not having my evening wine, the lbs will go away.

soooo DFIL didnt eat great this morning.. but the nurse working 7-3 is having some serious issues sweet girl but going through a divorce.. she comes in like she is on something, hard core something can barely keep her eyes open and weaving... I was looking for her and found her and took a picture for proof in the med room sleeping..in her chair.. now if she is that out of it, what meds did she screw up for my DFIL or other residents for that matter, and what if there was a serious something going on..
I will be speaking with the director of nursing in the morning as this is unexceptable behavior and putting my DFIL in jeopardy. and that of the other residents..
contacted the director of nursing .. and sent her the picture...
dont like ratting people out but this is the safety of a whole floor of residents

This afternoon I’m grateful for:

Rebecca - don’t feel guilty, he could still go to the car show on his own if he didn’t want to miss it.
Katla - I envy you the boy moving. I don’t know how many places hubby and I have lived. I’m still not convinced this will be our last place.
Ginny - congratulations for beating your own record. Don’t compare yourself to others, they aren’t in your shoes.
Sharon - thanks for the info. I’ll pass it along the next time we speak. She is not near any major hospital and would have to travel 2 hours for the surgery. I still think if she would consider it, it would do her a world of good. However, I also don’t feel she’s disciplined enough to stop eating the way she is now yet. I may be wrong and I hope I am, but she is very spoiled and doesn’t think twice of doing what she wants, when she wants with no thought to anyone else. I make her sound like a brat and she’s sort of is, but she has been there to help her grandparents in whatever they need and helps them financially when she can.
Machka - I love reading your posts, you take me right to whatever you are writing about. Today I went to France with you. Good job on the minimal gain, too bad you had to be sick on your trip though.
Lisa - that is a lot of moves! I was thinking the same thing about writing them out when Rebecca made her list. I moved into the house I grew up in when I was 2 and stayed there until I moved to Ontario the month after I turned 18. It was there my moving started. We are going to be doing some building this year too and I am dreading it.
Karen in NY - I hope you find some pleasure getting out of your comfort zone.
I have to share a story with you. I have two friends Sue is happily married and has been for 33 years. She doesn’t do a lot without her husband these days and rarely does anything alone. Heather is divorced as of 3 years ago, and had been married for 10 years. Heather has decided to sell her house and most of her possessions to buy a truck with a camper and start travelling. She has a grand plan to travel from Canada down through the States to Mexico and on to South America. She has recently gotten a dog and plans on taking him along her journey. Every time Sue hears about Heather’s plans she tries to convince me I need to stop Heather. The two have met, but are not friends. Last night the subject came up and I said to Sue, I am just supporting Heather, she has nothing or no one for her to stop her so why must she do what society expects of her. I find people and their stories so fascinating, how we all want to live our lives and what society thinks we should do are so many times at odds with one another.
I brought this up because it’s like reading this thread some of us have been in places for a long time, some have moved a lot. Some likes travel, others like to stay home. Some of us like to get out and do and others are content to be at home or in our comfort zones. We all are different but our hearts are all good.
Now that I’ve written a novel, I’ll sign off. I have to do some more reading up today on retirement planning!

When talking with a close friend I suggested my metabolism must have further slowed these past two years, but she said that that's a mistake that our metabolism doesn't slow as we age but we move less.
But when I went to an online calculator putting in same height weight and activity level for age 35 45 55, it gave 100 less calories per decade per day for maintenance. A big difference.
A hundred extra calories per day =10 lbs a year, approximately what I've gained in 2 years or so. So with same food intake and exercise with slower metabolism I could be burning 50 less calories per day= 5 lbs gain in a year.
I think that I the main culprit.
About 15 years ago an acupuncturist said to me, in passing (I was not overweight) that women complain that they gain weight when they get older but that they need to thus eat less to maintain their weight.

Just got back from my 7.5 k run :drinker: , my furthest ever and in the rain and with a UTI starting up.
I was inspired by the London Marathon, which I watched on tv before setting out. Couldn't believe how many overweight, unfit people were doing it! I'm never going to do a marathon, but I'm aiming for 10k sometime and even, maybe, a half marathon. (Don’t think so)
Barbie - I've only done 3 Parkruns and I'm not very keen on them because I'm always nearly the last person in a field of hundreds. It's a bit dispiriting. I much prefer to toddle at my own pace. I love it when DH walks beside me like today. Despite the rain people were windsurfing and swimming and a woman was playing the bagpipes on the beach.
My watch battery has died, so I will have to get a new one tomorrow. No bus pass though, so I will have to walk to the jeweller's. I've applied online for a new bus pass, so that will take a few days to come. Had to do all sorts of uploading, so I hope it's worked.
Tomorrow first thing I will have to ring the doctor for a UTI appointment with a nurse. Grrrrrrrrrr! I'm prone to these things and they never go away by themselves. The phone call goes to a triage centre in Liverpool and they decide on how urgent you are. The last time I had antibiotics it was a new kind and I had a horrible reaction to them. So I won't be having those again. I think it's in my notes.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -

Barbie: I’m glad to hear that your walking friend is back. :flowerforyou:
Allie: You are a wonderful and alert care giver. Lucky for your DFIL and other patients that you are alert. Sending the photo was a good idea.
Heather: I’m sorry to hear about your UTI. I hope you are able to get medical support. :ohwell:
I have an appointment coming up this week to remove a cyst on my back. It has shrunk dramatically on its own since the last time I was there. It isn’t gone, but it is smaller. I wonder whether the doctor will take it out or postpone. It doesn’t hurt anymore. which is nice.
DH read me a story of a tragic accident in Seattle. Evidently a construction crane fell from a new high rise building in Google’s Seattle campus into the street below and killed four people in the street below. There are lots of photos on the internet.

Lanette - thank you. I enjoy sharing stories.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to ease chills?
My husband has a flu of some sort. Friday night and most of yesterday he was burning up with fever, the fever seems to have broken. He still has a dry cough and terrible chills. He has tried a shower and I just turned an electric throw blanket on high and tucked him in again, but I’m not sure what else to do.

Regarding weight loss surgery, I too had gastric bypass surgery when I was 64 yo. I lost 125# in nine months and have kept it off for 5 1/2 years. At the first of the year 2018 I had regained around 25# and said oh no I'm not doing this. So I got back to my low carb, high lean protein diet and daily workout. I lost that regain and have maintained since then. I'd have the surgery again in a heartbeat, my only regret is that I didn't do it earlier.

JanetR - I always love seeing your pics, truly inspirational. Someday, I'll share mine again, but today is not the day. For those who don't know, I also had gastric bypass, back in 2005. Lost from 303 to 137. I really started to struggle with keeping the weight off a few years back, and in 2018, with the help of this group, lost 34 pounds of what I had regained... Lost a bit more at the beginning of the year, and gained some back after knee replacement surgery, but am now back where I was at the beginning of the year. More to go...
Heather - I stay on low-dose antibiotics year round, and that's the only thing that keeps me from having urinary tract infections pretty much on a monthly basis. It's been the only thing that ever consistently worked for me, and I have to fight every doctor I change to in order to get them renewed. For me, it works, not saying it would for everyone.
Zero, zip, shinola for motivation today. One more travel day tomorrow, and then April's sprint is finally over, and things should settle down to traveling once a month, at most. Looking forward to that.
Love y'all,

You lost so much and I NEVER got that low. I'd still like to be quite a bit lower but not sure at this point it will happen. I turn 70 in November and I think I'm to the point of just concentrating on maintaining and staying strong. You are such an inspiration, dear Lisa.

Our best friends, next door neighbors, received sobering news Friday, Joyce had an MRI as she has had balance issues for well over six months. She was diagnosed with a right frontal lobe brain tumor. She has no information other than that. They will do further testing. At this point I'm VERY irritated at her husband, they have a 2 1/2 week motor home rally planned leaving Tuesday so the further testing will have to wait until after they return home. WHAT???
Some how I think his priorities are askew. Please pray and/or send good thoughts for my friend. Thanks you,
Love you my friends,

Thanks Katla for the nice words. Lisa, its a chaotic journey when you list it, isn't it? Military moves are not so bad, even the major ones. Big burly men come in and pack your stuff! I did have some Japanese movers take way too long packing my husband's books though in one move. My husband had some tasteful lingerie books, Vargas girls and such. I remember leaning in and catching them, HA! I think I scared the bejesus outta them!I
I made $10 selling about 6 items that I wasn't using. Some presto logs, (we're moving into a house with gas fireplace), my paint pens, 2 umbrellas, and other things. I have not used an umbrella since we moved to the Pacific Northwest! Natives don't use them, as my raincoat has a hood. I posted items in my virtual yard sale sites, and people connected with me in private chat, and I have them the address to have them pick them up. Easy peasy!
