5/3 126.0 Flying to Oklahoma this evening. DH cut the area between 2 toes last night. We went to the ER around midnight and got home about 4AM. I got up at 6:45 to deliver my pot garden to the neighbor for care while we’re gone. Laid back down but didn’t sleep as DH started a load of wash. Got up delivered cat to sitter at 9:15. Bags are not packed - his job. Dragging his feet and I’m having an anxiety attack.
5/4 123.5 False low, I’m sure. Instead of weight around 5AM, very late weigh in - woke up after 10am. Arrived last night, needed some food. Waffle House bacon cheese burger, no bun, no fries with lettuce tomato and some pickles. I was exhausted and don’t even remember getting in bed!
5/5 120.0 I didn’t drink enough water or coffee yesterday so probably be dehydrated. DH’s foot was hot and red so trip to Urgent Care first thing (noon?)yesterday followed by lunch out (fast food) then DD#1 and I were out and about until about 8PM so she could find dresses for the graduations. Helping her get back to Keto while we’re here.
5/6 125.0 Okay, I thought those were a couple of false lows. DD had changed location of scale so now it is back in it’s old spot and weight is 👍. I’m good with this. Woke up early with scratchy throat and plugged nose.
5/7 124.5 I feel miserable. I wish my head would explode. Went to bed at 11:30, woke up at 2:30 and again around 4. Nose running like a faucet so I got up. Took something for the headache which has improved a bit. We are at DD’s with no car so forced rest. YAY! Maybe I’ll binge watch something on Netflix. And drink LOTS OF WATER. This will pass, just feeling sorry for myself.

I am a 50 year old 5'5" woman. I am trying to get healthier to avoid diabetes and all of the problems that come from being overweight.
I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after. I have been participating in this challenge since Round 40.

May 3 - 175.2 - I started swim lessons last night again. I haven’t been in the water since my last set ended in August. This is a stroke improvement class and this instructor is probably the best I have had. Weight is funnily low today, not sure how much I trust it, but it was nice to see.
May 4 - 179.4 - I don’t believe my scales anymore. I have changed the battery and the fluctuations are still a bit insane. I guess I’ll have to break down and get another one. I was expecting to be a bit up today though because yesterday was not a good eating day.
May 5 - 176.2 - I had a good day yesterday. Stayed within my calorie goals and got a little exercise in.
May 6 - 175.6 - had a good day yesterday calories were a bit over and sugar intake was definitely higher than normal.
May 7 - 176.2 - another fairly decent day yesterday. I need to buy some groceries today and get other things besides carbs in the house.
May 8 - 176.4 - I was hungry all evening last night I don’t know why. I managed to stay within calories but it was a struggle.12 -

05/03 335.8 Staying the same is fine with me. I had a higher sodium day yesterday and am having back spams since late last night. My energy level is back up, which will be nice once my back lets up.
05/04 334.8 There’s the after tom drop. My back is doing a lot better after a day of tlc and I’ll probably take it easy again today. Today is family movie day and I’m hopeful of limiting or even avoiding the popcorn this time.
05/05 333.8 My usual continued drop after tom, sometimes the whole drop stays, sometimes I have a bounce back up. I guess I’ll see what the next few days bring.

05/06 ….. 195.0….. Travel Today. I plan on making some good choices but will enjoy my day . Yesterday we met friends at a DQ about 20 miles away & I couldn’t resist a blizzard. I ordered a small & was very careful the rest of the day, so I will do the same today. So far, it did not show up on the scale. Calories In 1840 / Calories Out 2440. 114 Net Carbs. 10,309 Total Steps & 4.36 Total Miles. IF 16:8 . 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I charged my fitbit so I am unsure of sleep hours but it wasn’t much. I just want to say that what I am most thankful for today is that the DQ is 20 miles from me! The blizzard of the month is Cookie Jar & it's amazing. 05/07 ….. 195.6….. After Travel Weigh In. Not bad for a bloating high sodium Chinese buffet. I did not get 2nd’s & tried to remain pretty careful for the rest of the day. I’m a little confused about my calorie expenditure. Fitbit puts me at having burned 3430 calories & that seems too much considering I was riding in car quite often. I did walk a lot in stores but……. I put my fitbit on my shoelaces to get credit for my walking. Could this have made it incorrect? Other Stats: Best Guess calories In 2770/ 3430 Calories Out (???), 179 Net Carbs. 10,425 Total Steps & 4.41 Total Miles. I did not Fast. 11/13 Fitbit Step Hours due to car ride. I ended up with a terrible runny nose & sneezing cold by last night. I slept 6 hours & 45 minutes & my body was grateful. I did elliptical for 37 minutes after returning home which burned another 314 Calories.

All desk work & I’m incredibly sick with terrible head cold making me dizzy dizzy dizzy. However, still trying very hard to reach my May 10th goal. Adding more water today if life turns out okay here at work. 05/03--207.6 Lowest weight in about 3 years. Went to trainer yesterday...my trainer complimented me on my strong back, I felt really good. Hubby and I practiced our dancing last night.

05/05--207.4 Perfect weather in the PNW yesterday for a run...ran for 4.5 miles. I went out for dinner yesterday and ate something that I have a food sensitivity to so I expect a bump up in the scale over the next couple of days, but I made a conscious decision to eat the food so I'm okay with that. Went to the gym this morning. My husband was impressed that he could see the definition in my shoulder muscles as I was tying my shoes...it's funny how a compliment about something like shoulder muscles could make my day.
05/06--208.5 There's the jump I was expecting. I woke up with a tummy ache and felt heavy, so I knew the weight gain was because of me eating food I was sensitive to, but back to my non-sensitive food eating today. Doctor's appointment today and run later today.
05/07--208.3 Ran 2 miles yesterday, was going to run longer but it was a little too humid. Trainer tonight.

05/07 - 185lb (though the scales jumped between 184 and 185 a couple of times so can't be too far off!). Good day yesterday again, made it to the gym though my back isn't too happy about that. Eating out this evening so we will see what that does to this number...

Hi 10-Dayers!!! Looks like you've all made great progress since I was here last.
I took a break from weighing daily after starting a new job with irregular hours. Was travelling a lot and just tired of looking at the same up and down 8 pounds since February. A foot injury slowed me down, but kept doing as much as I could, so even though was @ a weight plateau turns out I've managed to lose an additional 8 inches since then. Muscle really does weigh more, lol ....
Jumping back in because I've finally settled into my new schedule and recently committed to a self-inflicted "beach body boot camp" mentality between now and July 3rd. Know the daily check-in will help keep me motivated and on track .... Happy Summer FitFam!!

I've been reading a bit about the dangers of obsessive tracking (which I've been doing for 4 years, even through gaining periods) and the imprecision of determining caloric content of foods and burn through exercise. So I'm experimenting this round with not counting calories but simply paying attention to what I eat, how much, and when. We'll see what happens.

05/06 - 151.0 Weekends are always a killer for me. 3.7 pounds up from Friday. I did have steak last night, which I try and stay away from because it seems like it stays in my system for a while and takes longer to digest. I should be down by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Half way through this round and still looking for a new low. 05/04 - 312.2 - still feeling good. Working on writing when I want to eat so I can try to evaluate if I'm actually hungry or if it's a bored/emotional/binge thing. So far that's helping, I think...
05/05 - 310.4 - had a crazy busy weekend and was really proud of myself for not just allowing that to excuse poor eating choices. Made healthy food choices all weekend!
05/06 - 310.0 - I had gotten a little used to the water weight falling off, so what's stupid is that losing almost half a lb was disappointing. However, I am managing to keep carbs low without even really trying too hard. I'm trying to get used to only eating when I'm hungry, so far so good.
05/07 - 309.2 lbs - feeling pretty good. Kind of stressed because I'm getting ready for a rummage sale. But my brother brought over Pizza (my worst binge trigger) but I limited myself to just eating the toppings off of one slice. It put me close to going over my carb goal, but eating the whole slice would have been way worse. So I'm happy! 😊😊😊 Hooray for half way through the 10 days!
05/08 - 309 lbs - I slipped up and ate more than I wanted to last night. But still kept my carbs low. I'm not disappointed. I always hate the initial water weight loss when I first start because I get used to it, so I have to keep reminding myself this was all just water weight. And from now on, it's not going to be such drastic weight loss every day. It SHOULD be less than a lb fluctuation everyday (in either direction). So now I have to focus on sticking with it even when I don't show a big loss everyday. I'm doing the keto diet, and I feel like keto flu is creeping up on me. I have a headache that I cannot get rid of.
Also, for anyone else doing keto, (because it's been a long time since I started keto), but once you're first in Ketosis, do you notice you have a strong craving for meats and cheeses? Ever since last night, I feel like I can't get enough meat/cheese, which is weird. It's why I ate more than I wanted last night, and it's really difficult today to not just tear into the string cheese in my fridge haha!

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

@beckyboo8504 I dealt with keto flu around the end of my first week on keto. I felt really weak and shaky. It only lasted a couple of days, and it hasn't happened again. While I used to grab a cookie or piece of fruit, my go-to snacks now are nuts (except peanuts) and cheese. I buy cracker-cut cheddar cheese squares that are 1/3 ounce each, and eat one or two when I need a snack. When I was losing, I would weigh my nuts and eat 1/2 or 1 oz., and stay within calorie limits. Not that I'm maintaining, I just grab a few throughout the day, and I carry a little baggie of nuts in my purse in case I need a snack while I'm away from home. You're doing good!7

ROUND 76 (Round 18 for me)
5’4 ½” 67 y/o Texas Lady
SW 178 lb.
Goal: Maintain between 135 and 140 lb. and increase muscle mass
I started Round 54 and Keto WOE on September 24, 2018.
Cumulative weight loss for Rounds 54-70 = 43.6 lb.
NSV: 1) I’ve stayed between 133 and 137 lb. by (pretty closely) following a keto WOE.
2) Lab work a couple of weeks ago was normal with only one exception, slightly high LDL (bad cholesterol). HDL and triglyceride levels were very good! (In 2012, before I gained weight and started keto, I was slim, running, lifting, and the doctor attributed my LDL level to genetics.)
I can’t believe I missed 5 rounds, but I’ve continued to weigh daily, when I’m home. I’m glad I came back at the beginning of a round—great timing! Tax season was followed by a 7-day cruise to celebrate my husband’s birthday and the end of tax season. I ate and drank extra non-keto stuff and gained 3 lb. by the time I returned home, but it’s gone now.

05/03 133.6 I feel good, and, so far, I’ve found it easy to maintain my weight, thanks to limiting deviations from the keto WOE. I’m confident enough to not bother counting calories and carbs (I learned what and how much to eat from my record keeping in the beginning.). Keto has truly become a way of life for me. I’m not confident enough to stop weighing each morning. If weight is up, I cut back, and, if weight is down, I eat a little more. It’s a rainy day, so no walk for Thor and me today.

05/07 134.8 I had some catching up to do here, but I still weighed every day. I took a friend to see the movie Breakthrough yesterday, and I ate a lot of popcorn. The movie was great. Chrissy Metz is a great actress, but I feel bad for her. I suppose her size helped her get the part. I ate a couple of keto taco cups when I got home, and I was still stuffed at dinner time. I managed to eat half of my stuffed salmon, but I put the rest in my spinach and cheese omelet this morning. That was good.
05/08 134.2 My Red Hat group had Italian food for lunch today. The restaurant didn’t have fresh salad greens, so I had soup and cannelloni (tasty, but not on my keto list). I’m not stressing out since I’m below the 140 lb. limit I’ve given myself. It’s nice to have a little leeway.

Prepping for week today! Turkey chili, veggies, mashed cauliflower, grilled chicken, fruit. Gardening again today 💛 Walked 2 hours along beach! 14,500 steps, gardened 2 hours
05/06 -140.5 had my most active day in a long time yesterday and stuck to my diet. Not sure why it went up....hopefully it will drop tomorrow. Stuck with it...made steps and 1100 cal
05/07 -140.0 ....oh come on 130’s!!! 😊
05/08 -140.2....Grrrr....right when I was about to enter the 130’s It’s TOM. Oh well...by last day or two the effects of it should go away. I did my first training session today. Got a groupon for 12 training sessions for this month. I really liked it and hoping it motivates me to continue to my goal.
