"Our work looks great. However, if you ever need a hip replacement, all of needs to come out."
Ohhh.... Yes I understand that... But is that why there's a frowny face on the last xrays from other doc???? And I get to keep the screws. Yay!
I can do anything the hip tolerates. Which isn't much. Hopefully tomorrow I get my 4th surgery scheduled.10 -

Last I noticed it was less bent. I'll have to look at the CD. I only snapped the one on screen x-ray before Doc walked in. Said as long as it doesn't cause pain or discomfort, I can keep it; one less surgery. Yay. But... I think I'll be back for the other leg in 6-12 months.

It seems like I haven't post in forever. Back from mini vacation, driving 24 hrs in 3 days is brutal. I'm exhausted and recovering. I was just going to cancel my run this morning. I was too tired. However, I needed to get back in track. So, we did our morning run. Weather is so hot and humid!!

August goal: 100 miles
8/1: 6.30 miles
8/4: 11.06 miles
8/6: 6.27 miles
8/7: 6.26 miles
8/8: 6.42 miles
8/11: 10.21 miles
8/13: 6.26 miles
52.78/100 miles completed
I ran 6.26 miles this morning and it was so hot. I sometimes feel like all I do is complain about the weather, but when it is already 80°F, with a feels like of 82°F, humidity at 63% and the dew point is 66° before 6:00 am it is really hard to think about anything else. I did get to run through some sprinklers this morning so that helped a little. It wasn't a bad run, it was mostly uneventful. It was just hot. I'm always glad that I got out there though. It is supposed to cool down some tonight and possibly rain tomorrow. I'm hoping that it will be cooler for my run tomorrow morning, but I'm a little worried that it will just be more humid. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
@PastorVincent Congrats to you and Kristi on finishing all of your races this weekend and all the PRs!

There's not. At least, not that I've found. I suppose that's only fair since if we could see the "woo's" it be ugly. Like a political debate... Hahaha!2 -

Hi all, had a good few days of travelling, mad business and lack of internet, but have been trying to run when I could. The heat continues to defeat me, especially on the 10th when I just couldn't face running any further. Still making progress though, so pleased with that. From Saturday I'll be in England visiting family, so hopefully can run in the much cooler temperatures there.
Well done to everyone on their races, I love reading race reports and descriptions of the beautiful routes you run.

You should tell Kristi soon, but make sure there is nothing she could use as a weapon close at hand.3 -

Maybe tell her while handing her some of this cake.7 -
The cake is GF, from scratch, and etc. I made it for my son's 16th. It is very moist and chocolatey Oh and it has no calories since it was birthday cake.9

@PastorVincent cake for lunch is acceptable if you are running and not “not running”. I passed up Panera cookies cuz I can’t “stomach” the thought of potentially going to the OR naked with a few extra extra pounds... but, that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t snarf some cake, GF or not...
Maybe you should fish a bit regarding the marathon for Kristi? Uh.... I’m hoping she dropped the hint and you listened like the well trained husband you are, right? I swear, if mine did that... well, I can’t run or walk, or bike, and don’t think swimming is “fun”... but I’m soundly against anyone making a decision for me, just in principle. I might be psychologically combative, er oppositional defiant.
Let us know how it goes.... or maybe she’ll pop in a let us know how it went. Hint hint. I think you should do it over a nice dinner, like a proposal, “Kristi, I’d like to spend 6 hours with you under extreme physiology duress, dehydrated, hair a mess, and chaffed skin in all the wrong places: (on one knee you go)... will you run a marathon with me?” (Present registration framed). ETA or that 26.2 car sticker. 😉🤪😧😬11 -

@PastorVincent Tell her the day before.
Or, just wait until she is feeling strong, but sometime in the next few weeks.
Or, tell her for XMas and make it a "gift." Then she has to run it...5 -

I’ve had a tough time getting going on my last couple of runs. I did make it out on a long run on Sunday - 4.88 miles, which is less than the 5.5 I’d planned, but I still made it around lake #3 and back home without too much pain. My left glute has been chatty the last few days and my poor lungs are still recovering from our brief relapse into smoking (fingers crossed that’s done now).
Yesterday I biked to the gym - it’s max week, but I was definitely not feeling it for deadlifts after two weeks off, so my 200 lb PR is just going to have to stand for now. I did give it a go with the dumbbell presses and managed 1 set of 2 and 1 set of 3 floor presses with 35 lb dumbbells, which felt pretty awesome. The next time you need someone to lift 70 pounds over their face while lying on their back, I’m your woman!
It hasn’t been the year I wanted it to be for running, but there’s nothing I can do about that now. This morning I slept in instead of running, but decided that my mantra this week is going to be Just Do It (thanks Nike) - sometimes it’s a good idea to take a break from something for all sorts of reasons, but today is not that day, not for me.
So around noon I went out and ran 3.48 miles around my home lake. It wasn’t perfect but it was still wonderful. My glute was whining a bit at the beginning, but I managed to hit a decent stride after a little bit and actually hit The Zone for a couple of miles in the middle there. The last mile was a bit tough and I did have to walk a couple of times (stupid lungs) but this was the best run I’ve had in quite a while, and my pace was about a minute per mile faster than it has been, much closer to where my easy runs were last year.
I didn’t hit any of my fitness goals last week, but I was on vacation so f-it. Looking good so far this week.

@PastorVincent looking at photos of that cake is making me want to snack.... Must. Resist!
I'd definitely go with dressing up the race entry as a lovely gift, maybe over a nice dinner or on a special occasion, if you have one coming up...3 -
@PastorVincent I really like @Elise4270's idea. But probably be wise to do it sooner rather than later 😏4
-
7 miles at 11:00 per mile. 90% cardio, 10% peak - I'd like to tell you all I'm still working on that, but I didn't really give it a whole lot of thought today.
I've got some weekend plans that will screw up the run, run, rest rhythm, so this week I'm going to see how I tolerate 4 run days followed by 2 rest.

Thanks @emmamcgarity and @kgirlhart. I'm pretty proud of seeing some muscle in the photos! Progress!
