I had a nice time at the stable with Arrow today. It is the first time I’ve ridden him in quite a while, although I recently worked with him while standing on my own two feet in the arena. He was a good boy for me today. We went outside and he spied a flock of sheep and spooked. He is clearly afraid of sheep. This is the second time he’s seen the sheep while I’ve been riding him outdoors, and the second spook. I told his owner about it, and she’s planning to help him with his fear. I’m sure I won’t get to see what she does but I’d love to be a spy in the sky and watch her introduce the sheep to Arrow.
Have a great day!

Katla - your description of Arrow getting spooked by sheep sent me down memory lane. When we had the farm, we had sheep and a couple guardian llamas. Llamas are very curious by nature and also kind of whinney like a horse.
One day we noticed several neighbors on horseback on the road next to the pasture where the llamas hung out, the llamas ran toward the fence and the horses (guarding the sheep). The horses were shying and bucking and one fellow got tossed and landed on the pavement. Ouch.
We later found out that these horses are ridden in the woods in the fall and hunters pack out deer and elk on them. Folks with "pack llamas" often take the same trails, so the neighbors didn't want their horses spooked when encountering one of these strange looking beasts, lol.
Getting Arrow comfortable around sheep should be a lot of fun, lol.
Enjoy this nice day!!

Hi Gals,
Pip – My eyes teared up reading what you wrote, you are such a roll model to us, beautiful in every way.
Barbara – I’ve been to Westminster for outdoor theater also!
I find that in most cases the ecological best choice is also the less expensive choice – in the long run- which is another motivator…
White –wear white = spill/drip/splash anything that could happen to make it dirty will!

Luci - thanks so much for the exercises. I will start those tonight.
Lisa - I marvel now at how things are going back to some of the things they got rid of when I was young. I remember when plastic bags came in, my grandparents had numerous discussions about how this wasn’t going to be good and they chose paper bags as long as they could. They also resisted margarine until their doctor told them it was better for them. Now I have switched back to butter after finding a tub of margarine in my Mom’s cupboard that was so old the writing had worn off the outside but the inside looked brand new. My brother, best friend and I all quit eating margarine that day.
I was thinking of Penny the other day when the tv was on in the background and they started talking about Svalard, I miss her stories and pictures too.
Lanette - my husband watches Alone. It’s quite an interesting show, I couldn’t do it but I am in awe of those that do.
Barbie - I used to drink 4 extra large double double coffees each day. Now I may have a coffee with two cream on the weekend but very rarely through the week. It helped me with my acid reflux and my weight loss. Not to mention my wallet.
Karen in VA - I bought my first pack of ziploc bags in probably 20 years the week my MIL was here for my daughter’s wedding, we needed them for the cookies for the cookie bar. I only use storage containers I have some glass ones and some of the Rubbermaid and Glad ones. I also try very hard not to cook too much and avoid leftovers all together they never seem to get eaten here.
Carol - here in Alberta the Walmart stores charge 5 cents a bag for their plastic bags so I buy their reusable ones and use those. They are easier to carry and I use them for so many other things too. My only issue with Walmart right now is the local one to me just installed 24 self checkouts. I have been completing the surveys to tell them how disappointed I am.
Shannon - I’ll check out the YouTube videos. Thanks for that info.
Ginny - I have learned in very short order that my husband would be lost without me too. I handle all financial stuff. He doesn’t even check his own bank account, he just asks me what he has to spend. My cousin that just passed had the same in her relationship, I feel very bad for her husband in so many ways.
Kim - that sounds like a lot to handle in one day, but I bet it’s an incredible place to work.
Barbara - that was a relief to read I bet!
Terri - lovely picture of you.
Pride Parades - they cancelled the Pride parade here in Edmonton this year due to the political climate and the fear for safety of the participants and the police who would have to maintain order. It’s a very sad state of affairs.
Pip - you amaze me. I love all of your pics but that one in the bikini is something else. I have never worn a bikini even in my teens.
I like that you admitted faking your confidence. I do that a lot too. It’s interesting, I never would have thought you lacked any confidence at all. I love your honesty and your stories of your struggles. I’m glad you found Kirby too.
Kelly - sometimes those arguments are needed and results in good changes moving forward, I hope he does do more to help himself.
Allie - Kelly has some great advice. I talked to the social worker at the manor I’m working at to ask how people get into companion work. He said it’s usually word of mouth through the administrator at the different nursing homes. The private ones here earn about $20.00/hour and ones through the agency charge the nursing homes $34.00/ hour so they try to go private more often. Maybe you should talk to the administrator at your DFIL’s nursing home. When you start with a couple residents word of mouth may grow your own business for you.
It would be great to set your own hours and be your own boss.
Machka - I love model trains. I knew a man that had one that took up his whole basement, I used to love going there to see it all in action.
Heather - beautiful picture of the two of you. You look so young and energetic.
Finally caught up. Rodger is working on our car replacing the spark plugs and wires. Last week it was the EGR valve, there is only one more part that it can be causing problems and it is the most expensive so we are trying things one at a time. I’m so thankful he can do these things and We don’t have to pay a mechanic.
Yesterday we had a team dinner and drinks after work to say goodbye to our social worker. He was a nice guy and I’m sure he will be missed. I’m not so sure about his replacement.
It was nice getting to know others from the leadership team outside of the office. On Thursday the health care aids had a potluck lunch for him, the Administrator and I sat together, when the Dietician arrived she joined us for a bit. The Administrator has asked her to come up with a weight loss challenge for the staff. I hope they follow through. They were going to talk to rehab about getting some exercise tips too.
It’s a long weekend here, I am keeping the Grands tomorrow afternoon. I think we may go find some yard sales, this is a favourite summer activity that we have not been able to enjoy yet this year. We may also go to the splash park if it is nice. It would be too cool today because of a breeze.
The yard sales will cost me around 10.00 as I give them money to spend, I love watching what they buy for their money and how they decide what to spend their money on.
Tonight I’m going to spoil Rodger and thank him for fixing the car. Once it’s going I’ll go buy a special treat for supper.
I still haven’t heard what happened to my cousin that passed. I think the unknown is the worse. Knowing won’t bring her back but it might help to understand.

I wouldn’t dare wear white! Been over 20+ yrs straight if Cheetos kid dust coming at me! That y chocolate 🍫! Buggers, guess is good as mines,y crying daughters with makeup 💄 (bees wax with color Burt’s bees 🐝) flying at me! If I invest in white it would die the same day! I spend enough time getting Cheeto dust to chocolate off curtains to books don’t need anything else! White kids clothes last 5minutes tops even in water! Made the mistake of buying Daughter white bathing suit bottoms that was the worst idea ever! Took her one sit to turn it brown with dirt y grass stains! Everybody gifts this boy white clothes! Got to be kidding me just because my house is clean doesn’t mean I got time for that.

Pip - There are days your stats keep ME going, and knowing that, if I want it MOST, I'll be able to do what you do. Well, some of what you do. 'Cuz you're flipping amazing. When your genuine smile pops out in a picture, you shine like a new penny. You deserve the compliments, and you also deserve the success you've found in your health, in how you look, and in your life with the amazing Kirby. You've worked so incredibly hard to get there, and deserve every moment of happiness.
Heather - love the picture of you and your hubby. Have to join the chorus of "I never wear white," for similar reasons. It seems to literally make me clumsier than usual, and I'm clumsy enough.
Weird day - the husband seldom works on weekends... felt like my wheels were spinning without anything happening, although I did get groceries bought.
Love y'all,

Lanette: I’d like to be a spy in the sky while Arrow’s owner introduces him to the sheep. I doubt I’ll get that privilege. :ohwell:
I had a friend in the town we used to live in who had a llama. It was able to open doors and gates. He came home from work more than once to find it happily resting on the couch in his living room, watching TV. He also had stories about it letting out the neighbor’s cattle. I think it could be very foolish to underestimate the wiley llama.
I had a good time today and have been running errands ever since I got home. DH is having a low energy day after his unpleasant experience at the eye doctor’s office yesterday. The issue there was that the eye doctor left him sitting in the waiting room for over two hours after his scheduled appointment time, and didn’t even apologize for it. :grumble:

Well long long day..
First Pip- that I think that is the most opened up I have ever heard you speak . Ans as everyone else said you are just super amazing .. you truly are.. beautiful smile, great body that you work very hard to maintain and a wonderful loving husband that you do very much deserve.. you know I love ya girl....
I cant remember who asked but no my boss not going anywhere he owns the practice
So until I find somethingnor he would actually lay me off I'll keep trucking along. Though I cant stand it..
I went to Tom and Elena's picnic today and helped out..I wanted to be a support for her as she was meeting most of his family for the first time.. I helped get food out and Elena and I got to know each other alot better.. she really is a sweetheart and I was able to fill her in on the background of everyone and who was related to who.
Tom thanked me for helping but felt Elena should have done this with him on there own..
I apologized to Elena saying I was just there for moral support and she she doesnt think she have gotten through it without me.
So I'm glad I was a help somwhere.. did stop to feed DFIL at lunch and he told me to get lost but I shoveled mash potato in ,2 bowls, ice cream, sliver of cheesecake and root beer..lol
Didnt sleep great at night.but I feel I sent a fair and honest email so we shall see.3 -
NY Karen - Lovely photo of Rachel!! What a smile What is Stormking? An art center? Love that serpentine wall as well, wow. Out here in WA State we have Storm King Peak with a fabulous view of Mt. Rainier if I remember right. It's not really a tourist sight. It's one of the highest spots in the county and the radio repeaters sit up there. When I was working for 911 I rode up there with the radio technician in his rickety county pickup. I can't stand heights and it was narrow switchbacks the whole way. Your Stormking looks a bit more civilized.
Heather and all - I'm another who will never wear white. I just bought a yellow polo shirt and wonder how long it will be before I spill something on it that stains . Great photo of you and your DH, glad the weather was nice.
Pip - hey girl, thank you so much for sharing your story (((HUGS))). You have matured into a happy, healthy woman and that's what counts. So neat that other folks (guys in this case) appreciate your hard work and understand what it takes to keep in good shape. And honestly compliment you! I think when Kirby met you, he must have seen today's Pip.
RVRita - great that you can start cutting back on your BP medicine!! Did I read that you are going to see the cardiologist after all? I just looked at your weather report.......too HOT! ARGHH!! We're going to hit the mid-90's tomorrow and Monday. I can look out any window and see plenty of green (evergreens, maples, oaks) so it doesn't seem so bad, and at least its not smoky this year. Do you miss the east coast (weren't you in New England?) during this hot summer?
Ok ladies, better wrap this up. Stay cool. Hugs to all who need them!

I went tubing on the Shenandoah river today. Ate lunch at a BBQ place and spent all my calories. I logged them all and skipped dinner so the damage is not too bad. This pattern seems to work for me- bust my calories then skip a meal. Then stay off the scale for 48 hours. Let's hope the results are worthwhile5

Rita Well done getting off your meds! It's hard to find words to say how impressive that is. You did this.
Katla YAY that Arrow is recovered enough for you to start riding him again. Your llama story is hilarious, I have this picture in my mind of the llama curled up on the couch watching TV. They are crazy observant. I think that must be what makes them so good at guarding sheep.

I have had an unexpectedly wonderful day. At the last minute my supervisor asked me to swap my scheduled shift for one next week, so I had a totally unplanned day off today. It was a gorgeous day weatherwise until it finally got too hot in the afternoon, so I was able to weed the garden & mow the lawn...then my 10 year old granddaughter called up to see if she could spend the afternoon with us. Yes!!!! We cut doggie toenails, bathed 2 doggies, she ate 2 hamburgers (swimmer - burns tons of calories) and said they were among the top 5 burgers she's ever eaten, then she played Garage Band on my iPad while I cleaned up the kitchen. My partner had worked hard (physical work) all morning, so decided to take a nap. Granddaughter asked if I'd take her to see Toy Story 4, so off we went. Such a heartwarming, delightful movie! I loved it so much, and my granddaughter is so dang fun to be with. This has been one of the best days ever! Now I'm home watching TV with my partner & getting caught up with all of you. Happy. Back to the grind in the morning (work) but this day has been a gift.

I’m giving myself a total guilt-free day off today. Zero demands on myself. Vegging on the sofa watching TV. But, I noticed some habits are... habits. I automatically did my usual morning routine to reset our home. Auto pilot? Bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. And I rebooted laundry.
I’m thinking about making a pot of chicken vegetable soup. Cabbage, kale, broccoli, carrots, celery, onion. It just sounds good to me - even though we’re here in a hot Texas August. Maybe because I had such intestinal distress yesterday that I couldn’t sleep last night and was awake until 7am this morning. I think the sauerkraut and sausage didn’t agree with me yesterday. I haven’t eaten anything today. Maybe I’ll make some soup.
Hope you all are doing well today.

This Texas Soldier deserves an award! Saved 11-14kids ages 5-7yrs old out of 45abandoned in the Walmart/Mall shooting that had been abandoned by adults! He wanted to go back for more but cops 👮 took his gun asked him to stay outside. He made multiple trips to get as many as he did.Yet he blames himself for not going back after being disarmed for more! Definitely a Hero that needs to be remembered! What’s wrong with adults now he even said adults he asked to help just ignored or said no kept running! Where were the parents? Sad every video I see anymore 1 person stands up the rest abandon the kids! I’ve taken broken bones y worse to save kids don’t understand why others don’t also! He was carrying holding hands if they slipped he went back ASAP he did a lot in my opinion!

Had a productive day. Got basic Saturday chores in. Got a 20,000 step day in (one of two of my goal for the month). Had a nice dinner of strip steak and green beans. Got caught up on reading here. Too many varied things to comment on tonight. Good to hear about people's medical conditions improving. In March, my blood pressure was starting to trend a bit high (18 lbs, ago). Had a slight headache today so thought I would check blood pressure. 107/66 -back to my normal. Do not want to medications for anything. I know it is the weight and regular exercise. Amazing the difference a relatively small amount of weight loss can make.
Am saddened by events in El Paso today. Too much hate everywhere.3 -

Making some chocolate chip cookies right now for this weekend when Ken & Lynette come over and for the neighborhood party (who knows how many people will be here? Probably not many)
Lanette – that book “always hungry”, is that the book by David Ludwig?
KJ – what your daycare kiddo said to you reminds me of what this one guy who is in my water aerobics class said as we entered the Y at the same time. “So that’s what you look like with your clothes on”….lol
Got back from Jess’ storage unit. Moved things around, what she’s taking to Iowa, what’s staying here and what she needs to go thru. I sweat so much! Think I’ll go in the pool for a bit to cool off
I remember reading a book called “200 Ways to save the Earth” and I realized that my grandmother did practically all of them!
Allie – that was so nice of you to do for Elena. Did Tom think you did too much and should have taken more of a back seat?
