By the way, have you heard from Cheri lately? I think about her sometimes with her new house and son in Chicago and DD living out by you.
Lanette
Hi! I'm here! Don't check in as frequently as I should but try and read most days.
Some recent changes in our lives... I spent from March till June in VA with our daughter helping her after ankle surgery. While there she decided to sell her home and move down to TX. She is living with us for the time being. Looking for a new job and then a home.
Our son left Chicago and is living in Indianapolis. He has reconnected with friends from high school there and is near my parents and my sister and brother. He is really happy.
I've been battling my old friend depression and trying to make sure everyone else is "happy". I guess it's time to focus back on myself. Went back to the gym today. Started recording my food. I know what to do!
Keeping you all in my pocket. I'll try and check in more often! Hugs!!

Barbie thanks for keeping us going!
I can’t find my post of goals for July so I will start with August.
August Goals
1. Stay within calorie goal.
2. Exercise 6-7 days a week, Kettlebell.
3. Eat mostly Keto.
4. 19:5 intermittent fasting.
I am doing a slow recomposition. Turning what little fat I have left into muscle. Eating at a slight deficit. Last month I increased my calories to 1,390 according to MFP this is a loss of 1/2 # a week. I eat that and my exercise calories back. I haven’t weighed myself the whole month of July. I gauge my success by visual observation and how my clothes fit. I judge myself to be around 18% body fat by comparing my body to the body fat percentage scale of pictures of women at different fat %’s.

I’m lucky my favorite thrift shop has a app! So I use it for points even! TC Rewards (Thrift City) they’re in different states not many of them like 1 here 1 there. Funny thing is a few of you said where you live they got one there but is it close to you or too far off to travel don’t know. It’s my go to especially for myself got my maternity clothes there even! I got $4.50 (2500) worth of loyalty points built up because they forgot to log me out after I bought my coats! Lol not going to say a word think the Manager was being nice she bows I love them to death! So I payed $30-$40 for bags of coats to kids hoodies bam guy behind me to the next person with loyalty card is on my account lol 😆. That makes up for not knowing about the app even tho I went for decades!Amber Tx1

Book recommendations;
"No Impact Man" by Colin Beavin
"The Year of Less" b Cait Flanders
"Not Buying It" by Judith Levine
I don't buy much beyond groceries and household consumables but when I buy something I buy exactly what I want and keep it for years (or decades). I have a very tiny wardrobe and wear the same clothes over and over.
We reduce, reuse, recycle, and compost a lot and keep looking for ways to do better.
I made another pot of chicken soup today--three quarts to freeze and one to eat tomorrow. Yum.

Do you mean book mark on my computer? I see no way to do it, other than that. I`m new... Sorry for the newbie question.

Today was shopping day. I decided to buy snacks, and bought some Kashi 7 grain crackers to address the salty, Annie's chocolate bunny crackers for the sweet, Belvita breakfast crackers to have with my yogurt, and York peppermint patty minis for a treat. I bought snack bags and measured out servings, and portioned out the York patties to 3 servings. I decided to buy Lean Cuisine meals to just not have to think meals. I have decided to only eat half so I can maximize them. I was buying a cheap brand of frozen meals because they were only 65 cents. I would rather dine on a better brand eating less, but having more taste and less salt.👍. Today I ate half of a fettuccine meal and plopped it on top of spinach. I bought blueberries and had that with yogurt for a snack. Dinner was interesting!
It was 4 ozs of chicken,
1/2 a container of wild rice 2.2 ozs
tomatoes diced,
3 ice cubes worth of my homemade chicken broth,
2 Tbsp of sour cream,
and 1/4 cup walnut pieces. All together yummy. I liked that I could still taste all the individual flavors. My snacks will be my crackers. I am dividing my Belvita crackers and only having 2, of them instead of 4.
I have been watching "Alone" so that kind of spurred my strange OCD organizing behaviors. I am also eating 1100 to 1400 calories, so no worries.
Today bought 7 days worth of dinners for husband and son, 5 lunches for husband and I, and some toiletries. Grand total $114. Each meal comes out to about $4.70. Not too bad.👍
Have a relaxing weekend all!
My daughter in law is resting comfortably at home.💖. Everything went we!!.

📙August Goals
1. Carbs 50g max with no more than 25g per meal.
2. Fiber 25g min.
3. Track in MFP. Complete the entry daily.
4. Exercise - log 30 Fitbit minutes.
5. No eating after 9pm.
6. In bed by midnight.

8. Spend 20 minutes outside at least 4 days each week.
I’ve struggled with consistency. Tomorrow is a bright shiny new day. Rebooting.

Just opened (with fear and trembling) a letter from the IRS. Some may remember that last May the IRS sent a letter saying we owed $7000+ in back taxes, interest and penalties. I was paralyzed with panic. Lanette shared a similar experience which inspired me to research and find where my financial institution made a mistake on the 1099 form. Today's letter said "We are pleased to tell you that the information you provided resolved the tax issue in question and that our inquiry is now closed. Amount due: $0.00
Thank goodness and thank you Lanette!
Connie ((hugs)) for both your mom and you.
Lanette hard to be the grownup even when you know someone has to be. ((hugs))
Welcome @monaghme and @BarbaraElle
Rebecca healing energy to your DIL. Great approach for opening communication with your sister.
KJ "...burka..." made me snort my water. You GO gal!
Heather, hope that knee pain eases soon.
Rori power washed the condo despite your injuries ?!? That must have been some Reiki healing!
Went to T'ai Chi and Finished scraping between the deck boards this morning, Line danced 2.25 hrs this evening. Only through pg 4 but pooped. Tomorrow's plan is to apply goop to two "test" boards, veg prep, dog group and perhaps stop in at Art in the Park. Then will skim more here.
Lighter, lovelies!

The use (overuse) of plastic - it’s a huge issue. Refrigerator/leftover storage is primarily in Pyrex. Not totally thrilled by plastic lids, but that does allow for stacking. I love to be able to pop off the lid and stick the bowl in the oven/microwave.
Lunch is usually in Gladware. If I take bread in a ziplock bag, I will use the same bag all week. I keep my condiments at work so the inside of the bag doesn’t get so dirty-looking.
Kroger here now has “Scan, Bag and Go”. Love it!!! I have several large trunk organizer style bags. I take those and only put meat in a plastic bag. The few plastic bags that do come home are used to line my mother-in-law by proxy’s diaper pail (she struggles to make it in time since her stroke).
We recycle anything our waste company will recycle!
Mom had a good day. My sister is still behaving. My daughter and I filed music in the music library at church so everything is ready for choir to begin again!! Took my nephew to get a haircut. Tomorrow I attempt bra shopping. A task I am not fond 👿.5 -

Busy day today, hairdressing appointment then youngest brother and his wife are coming this afternoon. This evening we are eating out with DH family as his youngest brother is 70. That's the way it is a famine or a feast as they say. DH and I like to go out and socialise but prefer just the 2 of us when at home.
Get well everyone with health problems and congrats to all losing weight. I'm still gaining and losing the same couple of pounds, got be consistent (repeat) LOL

For everyone who's new - Don't feel you must answer everyone on this thread. In July, we averaged more than 60 posts per day, because we're active, wonderful human beings who drop in, answer a question, make a comment, or share an image, and then go back on with our busy lives. Please don't let this thread add to your stress - read when you can, answer or comment when you feel moved to do so, tell us of your victories in the fight to get healthy, or your struggles, and just keep coming back. I think of it as a noisy, large gathering, where I can talk to those who are within earshot, and no one on the other side of the room is going to be upset because I'm speaking to those who are nearest me. Luckily, because it's recorded on this thread, I can also "hear" all the other conversations and comments, and respond to those when I choose, as well. No stress; no pressure, just a community of like-minded women.
Much love to all...

Well said!!

Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
Up once more at 3:15, hopefully I'll be able to start going back to sleep once I wake in the early mornings soon.
Barbara AHMOD - So pleased the IRS is sorted! That's worth a celebration all on its own!
Under the small-world theory: For those who have been here a while, I was just paging through the forum on my monster grant application after I went in to triple-check and make sure my application went through... and there was a note from someone in Svalbard, Longyearbyen, to be exact... you have to pinpoint the geographic area where your grant application will benefit a specific population, and this guy was a little bent out of shape that the closest he could get to Longyearbyen in the application was Tromso, which is close, but not close enough. Considering this is a grant where the entire world is eligible, I found it funny that our Penny's home base was mentioned, quite specifically. Random coincidence? Made me long for some of Penny's amazing photographs... you're missed, woman!
And speaking of old friends, Cheri! - glad you stopped in. Thinking of you, my dear. Glad you're staying with us, and hope the exercise and re-orienting on your own health is helpful.
Husband has to go into work this morning, which he was not terribly happy about, but resigned to, so he will be up soon. I was going to do the mowing this morning, but it's been raining, so that's not going to happen. Will get some housecleaning done, and read, I think. Quiet morning ahead.
Love y'all,

I'm trying to set up my website in Wordpress and today I had the opportunity to learn more about Elementor a page builder.
I'm excited to get working on it!
Model Train Show
After Wordpress, my husband and I went to the local annual model train show. I really enjoy looking at all the displays and watching the trains. If he and I built one, I think I'd do the display ... the building and scenery, and he'd tinker with the trains.
We were going to go shopping and then exercise, but on the way home, I felt really, really tired. I hadn't been feeling particularly well since I got up this morning. So we headed straight home and both slept for a couple hours!
I'm still not feeling brilliant, but I hope I have enough energy to make some progress on my first assignment for my current uni course.
