@debbie7373 - No I have never heard of it. Sounds intimidating. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers :flowerforyou:

@Ahanaz - A 4 pound gain is a piece of cake. I say you did something right. And remember, A short period of indulgent eating won't make a huge difference and it is very important to enjoy your vacation without over worry about your weight.
One of the things I do on vacation that has help me tremendously is to try to walk when I would normally catch a cab or bus, especially on cruises. And eat fish most days since and be very selective on those splurges. I make them worth my while!! And I wait 2 days to weigh myself to make sure I drink enough water to wash all the salt out of me from eating out most days. Glad you had an awesome vacation!!

@deepwoodslady - Good job Donna!!! Keep up the good work!! I hope everything is ok with your brother too. :flowerforyou:8

8/11: 201.6 (+.8) not too bad. Expected far worse. Didn’t make it to the gym yesterday and went over my calories. Had family day and although I weighed all my food and portioned It properly. I gave in at night for ice cream with the family. Today I have a kids bday party. Going to try super hard to be better.
8/12: 200.6 (-1.0) I’m ok with this. I did good yesterday but I didn’t have enough water like I usually do and I also didn’t eat very good. I ate small but I ate crap. I was super exhausted so it threw me off nans I was at a birthday party for kids. So too much was accessible.
8/13: 200.8 (-.2) I’m not sure what happened. I was far under my calories. Had 2 workouts yesterday and drank over a gallon of water. Yesterday was the best I felt in a while. And yet the scale went the wrong way. What the heck!!

Look at all your walking! That's amazing! I love that you've tracked it for the whole year. Inspiring!
I subscribe to Country Walking magazine, they have a challenge going for their readers to walk 1000 miles during the year; the challenge has helped so many people lose weight, tackle their depression and other mental health issues as well as physical health issues too, so many people have shared how it has changed their life. I did the 1000 mile challenge each year, but when I took early retirement I started walking much further each day, it helped me lose a further 21 pounds over and above just getting into the healthy BMI range without cutting down further on my calorie intake, so I decided to make my challenge walking 3000 miles during the year. In 2018 I actually walked 3300 hence that is my challenge again for this year!!
Walking is when I do my planning, problem solve and clear my head, if I can't get out to do a walk I have withdrawal symptoms now it is so much part of my life!! I walk anywhere and everywhere !!!
@musicsax - That is outstanding!!! Congrats!! :flowerforyou: Keep up the good work!

01/08: 167.8: Goals: 🌻 Have been steadily discarding holiday baggage since Saturday. Slowly but surely, it's shifting.Round 83: (Last round I posted for)
02/08: 167.8: Goals: 🌻 Holding steady is good.
03/08: 167.5: Goals: 🌻 Oops! Yesterday was a typo. I have fixed it.
04/08: 167.4: Goals: 🌻 Still in the right direction.

06/08: 167.4: Goals: 🌻 Normal fluctuation. Balancing muscle increase and weight loss is difficult. Lol!
07/08: 167.4: Goals: 🌻 Holding steady despite all the strength work yesterday.
08/08: 166.9: Goals: 🌻 Yay!!! Over 1 lb since end of last round.
09/08: 166.4: Goals: 🌻 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 One more day to stay on track!
10/08: 166.3: Goals: 🌻 1.5lbs down👍🏻Fri 12/07: 163.6: Goals: ✅ Still holding steady.Round 82:
Sat 13/07: 163.5: Goals: ✅ We finally got our we boat back in the water, and the new engine is so quiet, and no nasty fumes either. Result! Now all we need is a few warm sunny days to enjoy it.
Sun 14/07: 164.2: Goals: Meh!!!
Mon 15/07: 166.2: Goals: There are no excuses.I 😈 choose instant gratification over sensible eating at a family buffet yesterday. I haven't done that for some time. It did not go unpunished. My new healthy body rebelled big time. I spent an wretched evening feeling bloated and uncomfortable, with an extra big a big kick up the a** when I stepped on the scale this morning. Now, I know I haven't put on 2lbs of weight overnight, (though I may well have with the food I ate), and a lot of it is probably be water weight. But enough is enough, and too much is just plain daft. We all do daft things from time to time. The trick is to put it behind you and move on. I am choosing to have a few reset days of light eating to see if I can redress my blowout yesterday. Though if the truth be told, I have been sliding most of the week. I know this is only a blip. Nothing gets in my way when I'm on a mission.Goals: ✅ Later: Noticed I had the wrong date for my post this morning, so I’ve fixed it. Hopefully back on track.
Tue 16/07: 164.0: Goals: ✅😁 Sticking close to my goals has paid off. It must have been water weight!
Wed 17/07: 164.2: Goals: ✅ Normal fluctuation. Still keeping strong.
Thu 18/07: 163.9: Goals: ✅normal fluctuations.
Fri 19/07: 164.1: Goals: ✅Normal fluctuations!
Sat 20/07: 163.8: Goals ✅
With muscle %age improving, I'm happy that the scale is not increasing. I have no scale this week as I am on holiday, so I will give Round 84 a miss. Will be back with you for Round 85.Tue 02/07: 162.4: Goals: ✅Just trying to hold it steady.Daily Goals
Wed 03/07: 162.5: Goals: ✅
Thu 04/07: 162.5: Goals: ✅Had a busy day being foster mum to my daughter's 2 fur babies. Jack is very used to being with us, and is no trouble. Sydney is fairly new, and very nervous, and we haven't really got to know him until this week. DH is the doggie person in our house, but Sydney won't go near him, so I'm it! Worse than having a toddler in the house.
Fri 05/07: 162.5: Goals: ✅ Lots of walking and gardening today.
Sat 06/07: 162.5: Goals: ✅ Lots of garden work done today. Perfect weather with a bit of a breeze to take the edge off the heat.
Sun 07/07: 162.6: Goals: ✅ Normal fluctuation.
Mon 08/07: 162.5: Goals: ✅ Another plateau. 😏
Tue 09/07: 163.6: Goals: ✅ Drat! The weekend caught up with me!
Wed 10/07: 163.4: Goals: ✅ *sigh* Keeping on keeping on!
Thu 11/07: 163.6: Goals: ✅ I was quite disappointed with this result until I noticed my muscle %age has increased since last week. I have been working hard on lower body strength for a couple of weeks. Also yesterday, DH asked me if I had lost weight again. It just goes to show that Progress isn't always about the scale dropping. Looking forward to the next round, and making more progress! 😂Food

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

08/11 - 219.4 - Had a bad week, and just kind of let things go. This was pre-joining MFP.
08/12 - 219 - Went on an approx. 5 mile hike yesterday and did a bit of heavy lifting doing yard work.
08/13 - 216.8 - I was not expecting to see this much of a drop. My guess is it's just water weight plus whatever else now that I'm back to eating healthy again and exercising. I definitely expect to see smaller decreases from here on out.

Goals for this round:
1) Thoughtful food choices and good hydration
2) An hour of walking or other activity each day
Day/Weight/Comment
08/11 – 185.2 – Not bad for a post-party weigh-in, but I expect to see another bounce this week. Although most of my house guests left today, my son and his fiancé are here for the week. We have lots of outings planned, since this is essentially another vacation. I’m hoping to make good choices, get some exercise, and end this round without a gain.
08/12 – 185.2 – Beach day! Did my best to stay hydrated, but didn’t make the best food choices today. All that sun and surf and the wine with dinner have made me too lazy to log before calling it a night. Oh, well. I think I just need a break.
08/13 – 186.4 – Big bounce, but not unexpected. Spent the day walking around the city and made better food choices today so we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Please join us! Starting on 08/11 JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS, we will begin Round 86
Anyone can join us at anytime during the round.
Join us! If we stay mindful we can do this, you can do this.
Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.

Day/Weight/Comment
08/11 - 236.3 - was not as strict as I wanted to be yesterday; I didn’t log so I’m not 100% sure the “damage” but this is all about balance and being consistent when you can’t be perfect.
08/12 - DNW - skipped the scale intentionally this morning, didn’t want to make my Monday even Monday-y-er because of the fluctuations. Today I was spot on with eating though for the first time in a while. Who knew making good choices throughout the day would make it easier to stay under my target calories Lolol!
08/13 - 238.7 - 🙄; still plan on making today a good one.
08/14 - 238.7 - 🤷🏾♀️ have a work function tonight (and tomorrow actually). I will enjoy a glass of wine and try to keep the food choices light.

GW: 125
8/11: 143 -- I did not track, and I snacked all over the place. Blah. I decided to set up a morning routine beginning 8/12.
8/12: 144.6 -- I am tracking and am staying hydrated. I started a morning routine to include prayer, meditation, and of course, my outside time with coffee and a low-carb breakfast. I'd like to work in exercise as well. I'd also like to wake up earlier than 7ish in preparation for my kids' new school year next week. I'm not working this week, so I'll have more space to begin this healthier lifestyle.
8/13: 145.6 -- Slow start, obviously, and I need my afternoon/evening motivation to equal that of the morning. I have a playdate here today with a wonderful friend and her son, so I think that extra activity will help. Time to return to the Y as well, finally. I was just thinking how fortunate I am to even have a gym membership. I'm eager for my phone to charge so I can do my Insight Timer meditation today. I think it affected me yesterday morning, which was nice. I was just blah by the evening, though. At least I am halfway done with school shopping and managed thrifting with my daughter. I found a carrot/potato medley to make in the Instant Pot tonight.
8/14: 144.8 -- Now the scale is moving in the correct direction. Time for more mindfulness today.

Goal: Improve Sleep - duration of 7hrs and score above 80.
8/11 200.9 lbs 6h18m/79/11:38pm - blew my calories on Friday night, so this isn't unexpected. It's also not permanent. Look out, One-derland, your girl is coming for ya....
8/12 199.7 lbs 6h4m/80/10:51pm BUSY day, but had good energy throughout. Back below 200 and sleep score at 80, so I'm starting my Monday right.
8/13 199.0 lbs 5h47m/73/10:52pm Sleep still not optimal, and feeling sore & run down. Pleased with the continued losses on the scale, tho.
8/14 200.5 lbs 4h39m/70/11:16pm So sore - muscles probably retaining water - and my feet & ankles are a little swollen; wish I'd been able to get to Zumba last night. Busy day at work, tho... will get to Combat tonight. Not sweating the gain today. We'll see again tomorrow.

@livefreely12 ... looks like we both are getting ready to make a big move! Small gains can come before bigger drops, but if you feel like you're on a plateau, change something up. You've been working longer and harder than I have - with amazing success - and unfortunately, plateaus are part of the deal. You can get to your November goal, I have no doubt!8

08/13 270.0 I'm getting in late this rnd but better late than never. I have changed the way I set goals, I don't do very well with long range targets so I am taking this in 5lb increments and hope to lose 5 by Labor day. Then we will look at the next 5. At my wt I should be able to drop 5 like nothing but man it is stinking hard these days. Best of luck everyone w can do this.
08/14 269.7 Had a good day, did have a few evil chips but nothing major plenty of healthy stuff to, around 9000 steps. I try to keep the added sugars low and up the fiber, carbs are usually pretty low unless i indulge in the evil chips, im not a sweets person so that helps.I'm a salt addict big time. but i also eat alot of veggies and fruits. I try to keep red meat to about once a week, need to eat more fish but its hard to find quality fish in the midwest, stores are full of "product of china" fish, I am not touching that crap, nope. have an awesome day all.

Day / Weight/Comment
08/11 - 161.6 (+1.6) totally expected as I gave myself a cheat day yesterday, and amazingly no regrets either As this is the first cheat day in 40 days I'll see how long it'll take me to drop the extra pounds off. I have 4 days till I leave on holiday, it's a bit of a bummer really as I was getting into a good routine regarding food and running.
08/12 – 162.4 (+0.8) I think that cheat day is still making me pay for it, even though I did good yesterday by going running and kept within my 1200 cal. We’ll see what tomorrow gives 😊
08/13 - 160.8 (-1.6) Ok that's a bit more like it ! I've noticed that if I have around 500-600 calorie deficit I can loose some weight. Today I'm not doing much as I'm prepping for the trip tomorrow and I have some last minute medical appointments to go to.
08/14 - 160.8 (0.0) Last weigh in, no change, I'll be happy if I come back with the same weight but I'm not that naive lol Went for a run at the gym this morning, I showed up at 8 am, the earliest I've ever been and I'm taking my gear with me. Medical exams yesterday showed thoracic inflammation which explains pain and swelling, which is less worrying than was initially thought
