I'm happy to have found this website/group!
My two brothers are diabetic and I see the struggles they have with the disease. I've been overweight for years, and have recently decided that I don't want to become diabetic like my family.
The MFP food tracking app is becoming easier to use - I've logged in for the past week.
And I had a cleansing ritual in my kitchen.....tossed the chips and candy, because it's just too easy to give in to temptation when those items are in the house.
Looking forward to sharing tips and success stories with the group!6 -

Week 2 of videos done!7 -
Well, now that we're nearly halfway through the month. Might as well take a look at my original goals:
- Replacing diet pop with water (I'm ACING this in the office, which is where I drink soda the most) and cut back at home too (I've had one 710mL bottle of diet coke so far this month compared with drinking about 2L a week at work alone)
So far, I'm happy with this progress.
- Dropping 6 pounds for the month. I feel mostly on track here, even with last week's mini gain. Hoping this goal is still achievable.
- Not self-sabotaging. Especially over the summer I realized what a stress or emotional eater I was. I've been trying to handle general life stress by walking more to clear my head. I'm hoping that a bit more awareness here will lead to healthier habits in the long run, but I feel like this is a longer-term goal (or behavioral change) than just 1 month.
&
- Focusing on self-care that involves or incorporates exercise. I'm really happy with this so far. And I've committed to taking yoga twice a week in a program/class that starts early next month an carries on through the new year.
Ultimately, I feel ahead of where I was last year at this time.
And it feels sustainable, which is the goal.
I've known for a while that I was due for a lifestyle change, and here it is!5 -
Checking in! I can't remember if my check-in day is Saturday or Sunday, but never mind.
SW:217.8
Start of Sep weight: 210.6
CW:206.6
September goal: lose 12 lb
Lost: 4lb
@nicruns good idea about taking stock. Whilst I have not lost as much weight as I would like, it's still a sensible amount and I have improved some of my habits, especially running and less alcohol. Now to log well and improve my willpower around cakes and biscuits!
My goals last week:
1. Run at least 5 times (met).
2. Avoid sweets, cakes and biscuits six days of the week (no. did it five times though I think).
3. Drink alcohol a maximum of twice (done. but big nights out on both Friday and Saturday, so goodness knows how many calories I got though).
4. Do yoga twice (managed once).
So this week I will aim to:
1. Run at least 5 times
2. Avoid sweets, cakes and biscuits six days of the week.
3. Drink alcohol a maximum of twice.
4. Log everything. This has gone off the boil this week, and I know I underestimate massively if I don't log well.
Enjoy the week everyone!2 -

Mid month update:
SW: 286.5
9/1/19: 248.0
9/15/19: 243.7
GW: 180
Goals for the month of September:
Burn 3000 calories a day (per fitbit device): 13/14 days
Drink 150 oz water a day: 9/14 days
Walk 5 miles a day (per fitbit device), 11,000 steps: 13/14 days
Lose 8 pounds: 4.3 lost so far - on track
Log food everyday, for better or for worse. 14/14 days
Drinking all the water I should has been the biggest challenge. Also finding it harder and harder to burn 3000 calories as the weight drops, which means I need to increase my activity!

Status update:
9/1: 257.0 lbs
9/15: 252.8 lbs
Lost 4.2 lbs yaayy!
Goals were:
1. Lose 8 lbs - on track!
2. Walk 30 mins a day - so far about 50/50 on this so have to try harder
3. Meal plan weekly - yup!
I’m feeling pretty good right now other than kinda hungry most of the time. Since I usually eat quite a bit less than my allotted calories, I think that on Wednesday or Thursday every week I’m going to ensure I eat at my full allotment. I’m hoping that’ll curb the hunger a bit and I will feel satiated. I have to remind myself it’s a marathon and not a sprint.3 -

My goal for this week is to continue tracking everything. Increase my water intake. Walk 5 days a week for atleast 30 mins.2 -
I’ve been crazy busy with family stuff, but I seem to be moving in the right direction. I had to see it two days in a row to believe it, but I’ve made it to Onederland!! I weighed in at 199.6 this morning. Thoroughly on track for a 5 lb weight loss this month.
My goal this past week was to get to the gym at least 3 times. I went to the gym once, but the weather cooled nicely this weekend so I walked 2 miles each evening the past 3 days. Goal this week: 4 times to the gym or outside!

Hoping for a good week this week. made good progress, but then a stressor shot up my weight last Monday....going back down but hoping it was a temp surge only. At this point not showing any September loss. Trying not to stress. Did a lot of exercise today, planning to increase activity this week if possible. I really want a 5 lb loss this month. I bought 2 pairs of 14 shorts for vacation, and they almost fit me; 1/4 inch more. ....4

Hubby's birthday was Thursday, but he works nights, so we celebrated Friday. Friday was full of temptation - there were breakfast tacos, donuts, and kolaches at work (I stuck to my yummy bullet-proof coffee). Client lunch was at a hibachi grill (I was in heaven with a spicy chicken dish and broccoli - keep that rice away from me) and for dinner we went out to celebrate hubby's birthday (no chocolate cake or ice cream for me). I celebrated with a sugar-free jello. I did go over my calories that day, but not horribly.
I am only 4lbs away from treating myself to a new purse. I definitely can't give up now.
I need to incorporate some workouts into my new daily routine. I might try to start going during my lunch hour, it seems that is my only "free" time. The plan is to start with 3 days a week and see how I feel: Tues, Thurs, Sat.6 -
@gabi_texanmom what kind of purse are you going to get? I love love handbags. Coach is about the nicest I can afford so if I treat myself it would be one of those.0

NSV for the weekend was having company over and putting out donuts for them but not giving in to temptation myself. That felt awesome. I made really good progress last week and didn’t want to derail that.4

I'm down 4lbs and I really wanna try to lose another 4 by the end of the month.
💙Last week goal roundup💙
*Eat at or under my cal limit = 4/6
*Strength train = 1/3
*Cardio = 2/3
Didn't quite hit my goals for last week, so I'm going to push hard this week to do so. Headed to a new exercise class that my friend takes (MAX Challenge) just for one drop in session because she can get me in for free, but I'm trying to change things up a little.
Hope everyone else's September is going well!4 -
Ugh, I had an awful weekend. Still struggling with them. I did great all week. We went out to eat Friday with friends that are in town and I have a very difficult time making good choices. When I am spending $ I want something good! I picked stuffed grouper and opted for asparagus and rice pilaf as sides. I only ate half of it which was a an accomplishment for me! However, they had rolls too, and I had two of those. The rest of the weekend was just a spiral. Not eating at all, then when I did, not good stuff. I also had drinks. Water intake next to nothing. I am so disappointed in myself.
I gain weight if I look at food (very easily) and when I got on the scale this morning I almost cried. Just a few days of falling off the wagon, I have now gained back the weight I lost last week and a few pounds above what my weight was when I started in September. I have to figure out my weekends. I know what happened...my son was at his dads and I was kinda down and lonely. Wish I could figure out how to control my eating and drinking when this happens.
I food prepped yesterday and I made enough to last through the weekend. Maybe this will help. Made a variety so I wouldn't get bored with it. I am sticking with my same goals this week and I am not giving up because of this set back. I have to keep trying to change my habits and live a healthier lifestyle.

Oh my gosh, I love love handbags too! I usually just admire from afar LOL. I'd love a new Coach bag - that's definitely on my list. I have a gray Michael Kors and a tan crossbody Coach, but my everyday bag is a black and gold Steve Madden. As a treat for sticking with it and losing 20lbs, I am getting a very nice, small, black Dooney & Bourke with a matching wallet! I am so excited! I never ever treat myself, even now I will buy them used, but they are sooo nice. I think I will motivate myself with a nice used handbag every 20lbs. When I reach ultimate goal weight I will defintely splurge and buy myself my dream Disney Dooney & Bourke. I guess I better start saving NOW...3 -
Month start: 227
Sept 16: 223
That's pretty well on target, right? I was feeling frustrated but looking at the numbers it's ok.
The rest of the month is gonna be a struggle though. I'm on a combination low FODMAP and gastritis diet, which leaves me eating... not a whole lot.7 -

GW: 220
My goals for september
-practice more mindful eating
-cut down on off days ( skipping planned exercises or eating fast food)
-not dwelling, or hating on myself, if i do have an off day. Instead just focusing on doing better the next day4 -
GW: 165?

9/18: 228.8 (-4)
Sept goal: 224
broke through to the 220s this past week, yay! it's been slow going though--lots of bouncing around on the scale without much decrease. these threads are helpful in reminding me what my overall monthly progress has been so far. so there's that.

Ended August with a 0.3 pound gain for the month. 😝
So far, September is proving to be much more satisfying. I'm down 6.9 pounds as of today. Whoop, whoop! 😄8 -
Hi! I'm new to the group!
SW: 270.8
CW: 258.2
End of Sept goal: 255
I just hit 258.2 this morning and it's such a great feeling since I haven't been in the 250's in such a long time. I've been in 260-270 for over a year. I'm going to LA this weekend and disneyland with some friends. I'm going to try what I can to maintain my weight throughout the weekend. Working extra hard before the trip!7 -
Does anyone else feel like their body is petty about weight loss around goal posts? I have 0.8 to lose to hit 50 lbs total lost and I feel like its taking fifty times longer than the previous pound to drop.
It also feels harder to drop from like, 30 to 29 than from 31 to 30.
I know I'm imagining things but still. =P6 -

I'm definitely experiencing this! I know it's all in my head, but for some reason the number 215 seems insurmountable. I got down to it before, but then I had like a month of crazy eating and now I'm trying to get passed this number and my brain feels like it's short circuiting. I'm just chugging along and it feels like each time I get close to anything under 215, it keeps moving just slightly out of reach.

What bugs me is when you just see a flicker of the number you want, always on a sneaky unofficial weighing day, and then you don't see that number again for weeks!3
