Kate UK - I've done a very quick Google and, as far as I can tell, that looks very good. Almost too good! Smart scales are not all that reliable, but, if you are anywhere near those figures, they are very good. Do you weight train?

Yes I do use weights but wonder how the 2 figures relate to each other. I don't take the results as gospel

Kate is it lbs or kgs?

Kate oh I see it's lbs…and refers to "muscle mass". Sorry, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. That would be a lot of muscle even for a muscle-bound man.

Well here it is Monday again. Time is just flying by and one month from today is Christmas. We are expecting a big storm starting late tonight. They are saying 4-8 inches of snow and 45 miles a hour wind. I work the next couple days and Thursday we planned to go to Kansas for DH's family. Will have to wait and see what the weather is like.
My eating is all over the place and I would like to just be able to sleep about 2 days striaght and see if I feel better.

Hi All,
I just found this group; hope you don't mind me crashing. I've read through the most recent 5 pages of posts but am bound to ask some silly questions.- I love the Hallmark Workout! So fun.
- I had pasta for lunch and just logged it. It doesn't give me much room to sweets after dinner tonight so I pre-logged a smaller portion of chocolate for my afternoon snack and a smaller portion of pumpkin gooey butter cake for tonight. Looks like dinner's going to be oven baked chicken breast and oven roasted vegetables, lol
- Umami, for me, is an ingredient that just adds a little something/something that enhances the flavor of a dish. Worcestershire and dried mushrooms added to beef dishes (which I eat very little of these days) is something I do a lot.
- Someone mentioned celery. I munch on it all day because a stalk only has 7 calories but 2 grams of fiber! I wouldn't say it's my *favorite* vegetable but it does help keep me full.
I celebrated Friendsgiving on Saturday and will spend Thanksgiving with other friends. To counteract those food fests, I squeezed in a 5k Turkey Trot yesterday. Couldn’t have asked for better weather for a Sunday this late into November!
Gratitude:
#9: Place – Cabo, Mexico: I don’t travel for the holidays but do take time off in late January/early February and spend a week or two down there. It’s the right time to break up gray, cold, wet winters in Seattle and the water & sun are good for my soul!
#10: Taste- anything on a Thanksgiving plate right now
#11: Holiday-Thanksgiving is truly my favorite holiday. I love food. I love my friends, who are like family. And, on Thanksgiving, I get and give the gift of both.
Happy holidays to all!

Jessica in Seattle Welcome to our group! Most of us joined by crashing the party.
Karen in Virginia5 -
Jessica in Seattle, I hope you will keep coming back. Each of us started here, just like you, by jumping into the conversation. I am a classic introvert so celebrating Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving or Cheesegiving or any other holiday with friends is something I don't do. I am cooking a turkey because my husband loves turkey and many of the traditional sides and I like making soup from the carcass and the meat we don't eat right away.
It was cool enough this morning for me to wear my "winter in Maine" coat. The wind added to the chill. Nothing bothers the dogs, they will walk in almost anything.

Woah this thread moves so fast, I miss a day and am totally behind. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and kind words. A good deal of my stress has gone away the past few days. We made some decisions and decided to cancel our spring litter. There is just to much happening we are probably going to breed in a couple years. We don't breed very often only when I personally want a puppy for the next generation of show dogs and the timing is just not right so I won't be going to Cleveland thankfully and can just relax. I am so relieved. Now I can focus on just obedience training the dogs that I have and not worry about the food issue.
I spent a good part of the day practicing fiddle and guitar but didn't get a chance to touch the viola or whistle.... maybe tom. and now I need to warp the loom or holiday gifts will never get done so back to work I go.... thankfully I only have two more weeks of teaching until the end of the semester and then can buckle down and get a bunch done.... Just have to get through this holiday ....
jessica I recently crashed the party as well so welcome.....
Barbie I also just wore my Winter in NH coat for the first time this year. I have a new friend who is insistent on doing various camera adventures (I typically hibernate in winter but she is teaching me how to use my camera) and considering this, I just bought a Baxter state parka coat from LLBean and was excited to wear it the other day.

I was able to get an appointment for this Wednesday at 8:40 am. I then worked on Christmas cards most of the day. Sending out about 50, mostly family.

Ellie here, age 60.
With the help of MFP, I lost 65 lbs in 14 months, reaching my goal weight in 2015.
Here I am again, having gained back half of that loss. No excuses, just reasons: Lost my job in 2016 because I could not relocate for the company. Could not relocate because I was primary caregiver for my mom (in her 90's) in Hospice. Over the course of the 4-1/2 years she was in terminal care, I started my own company, landed a consulting gig, stayed nights at mom's when we could no longer afford caregivers, and eventually moved her to assisted living and tended to her daily needs.
I am so grateful that I could help her with her care through the end of her life, and feel satisfied that she was comfortable and content, and ready to leave us when she did. I am privileged to have been there with her as she left.
Fast-forward one year from her passing: I have landed a permanent position, working from home. I can spend my weekends hiking and going to the climbing gym. Today I biked to a co-working space (downhill there, a bit torturous back) to get out of the house. Working from home, while convenient, leaves the kitchen close at hand. Plus, there is no commute, not even walking from the parking lot!
I feel back on track to have a much reduced calorie intake, and foresee that I'll be back in my little clothes before June when I'm scheduled to travel with friends. My weakness is wine. My family opens a bottle of Prosecco with dinner, and I need to limit myself to just a few glasses each week... while staying with my mom and holding my evening pity parties, I easily consumed 3 bottles each week.
Well, thank you for allowing me to air my experience. I am moving forward with confidence now. Some thoughts I keep in my mind when temped: "I'd rather be fabulous than eat potatoes" (when tempted with chips), or "Remember, you want to be the envy of every woman, and the desire of every man!" (understanding that this must be qualified with an "age appropriate" qualifier, and cis gender).
Thanks everyone. Keep it up!!

Kenna, Where do you live? I live in NW WA where it rarely gets colder than 25 F but I walk my dogs every morning no matter what the weather. We walk for about 30 minutes before breakfast (about 5 AM) and 2 hours after breakfast (about 6:30 AM) and I seem to be colder than most people, so I wear all the warm clothing I need. Congrats to you for making a good choice to decrease your family stress. All your hobbies sound like great fun. I knit, dance, and walk dogs.
Ellie, Welcome. You've jumped a lot of hurdles to get where you are today. Thanks for sharing your motivating statements. I lived close to my parents until their parents and I haven't regretted a moment of the time I spent with them.

Hi there....found this post today..going to wait for the December one too3

Tethered to pc for public records online training-all done. Trained but did not walk nor comb Tumble nor post firehall papers, did abstain from alcohol and cookies.
Tuesday will comb Tumble, post firehall papers. If blustery will keep wine down to two glasses, if not windy will abstain and go to line dance practice instead.
Electrician was here for hours, swapping out chandelier (hooray no more flickering), ran separate circuit for the hot tub, added safety cover for nearby pump switch and blanked out non gfi socket too close to hot tub. Recommended we NOT use portable clamp light near hot tub but swap out adjustable flood light for porch light. Afraid the bill will be more than twice what I'd guesstimated, gonna have to tap some reserves to keep nose above water this year.
Amber what a great story. You're right, infants hear, understand and even act more that adults imagine.
Vickie we're expecting a big storm with historically (hurricane?) speed winds tomorrow. Expect to be without power and even cell phone. Looks like Tumble might finally get combed! Please choose safety when deciding whether or not to travel.
Welcome Jessica in Seattle, Ellie, melking1969!
Kenna I've always been fascinated by weaving. Would you share a pic of your loom?
Rebecca sending thoughts and prayers for good resolution at Wednesday's appointment.
Pip which peanutbutter filled bones? :noway: Poor Yogi!
@LisaInAR where are you? Are you ok?
Pc/laptop preferences: Have to prepare for end of Windows 7 in January. Dreading it. Mostly use laptop for email, research, writing, spreadsheets, mfp. OK with OpenOffice, prefer MSOffice pre-Office 365 (due cloud mistrust issues). MUST have keyboard.
Any suggestions?
Gratitudes Day
#11 holiday: Christmas. The music, the lights, the scent of the Christmas tree, the story, the memories, the taste of egg nog, tom and jerry's, and oh yes... baking, smelling and eating the COOKIES!!!#10 taste: today its fresh ice water. After too much wine it really tastes good.Lighter, lovelies!
#9 place: our property, all 15 vertical acres of it, woods, ferns, creeks, mud, brush, critters, peeks at the ocean and the way it smells when I get out of the car. “Home!”
#8 book: To Build a Land by Sally Watson. Read this children's novel when I was 9. It was about a group of Jewish orphans transported to Israel after WWII. Identifying with one of the characters sparked a life long interest in archeology, Hebrew and ultimatly spurred me to visit the holy land in 1980.
#7 memory: at holidays Papa told stories about his younger days, during Prohibition and the Depression (but never about WWII). I could repeat them almost word for word but enjoyed them every time. That's one thing I miss about not having family left for holiday get togethers.
# 6 nature: the forest's scent and the ocean's clamour
# 5 sound: Joe snoring
# 4 food: Fage Greek Yoghurt
# 3 color: blue skies after a gray rainy foggy couple of days.
# 2 tech: my Win 7 laptop. Dread migrating to something newer/supported.
# 1 smell: clean, bleached whites while transferring from washer to dryer.

Word for 2019: "GOOD" good attitude, good food, good times, good choices, good enough, feel good, GOOD! Word for November: get up and do it EVERY day!

Still catching up, the electrician finally connected the washing machine, but there's still some work to do. I'll have to get in touch again to find out when he's going to finish it, he was supposed to finish everything on Friday, but there was a slight problem (isn't there always !!) and he said he'd have to come back to attach the oven hood and connect the dryer. There's also one socket to connect in the kitchen, one in the dining room that stopped working when he put the new fuse box in. He also need to take down an old kitchen fan that hasn't been used in years. Totally fed up with it and wish I hadn't bothered to be honest.
My sister in law is having her biopsy this morning, so praying for good news. I hope she'll start on a treatment plan soon. I worry that the cancer is spreading the longer she is kept waiting.
Love to all

I am up in the middle of the night and furious with Apple. They shut off my phone! They say my phone is disabled—by them, and I can try again in 21 minutes. They wanted my to put in my password. I don't use one for my phone and don't plan to use one for my phone. Has this happened to any of you?

The phone is back in service, for now. Thank goodness. I requested a chat with someone from apple and a name was given to me but no one actually responded. I'm not real happy with Apple service at the moment but I am happy that my phone is working again.1

Feeling stressed.Challenges ... if challenges appeal to you, don't forget about MFP's Challenges subforum:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/challenges
Pretty much the same as last month ... aside from exercise, this month will include ...
-- work ... I've got several projects I should try to finish or get on top of by the end of the month.
-- university ... I start my next course on Nov 11. It's a spring/summer course and entirely online so I'm curious how it will go. Later in November, I need to enroll in my course Semester 1 courses.
-- cycling club ... I have a lot of work to do in this area!!
-- website ... lots of work to do and start attending Wordpress meetings again.
-- husband ... becoming more involved with our local brain injury association.
-- medical ... attending a whole pile of different physio appointments and other medical appointments. There is not a single week without a medical appointment of some sort.
-- and continuing to organise things at home. I've been working on this for a while now, but especially since I wrote my exam on Tuesday!!
Machka in Oz
Physical - Exercise, Eating, Sleeping -- exercise every day or just about. Eating ... could be better. Sleeping ... not bad now that I've got my cocoon of silence.
Work -- working on instructions these days, but I see emails starting to come in about other projects. They'll be for next week, I think.
Uni -- I've downloaded the initial information for my new course. Will need to acquire a textbook. And I've enrolled in the remaining courses for my Master's degree.
Cycling Club -- I'm focusing on this right now. Several things to do!!
Website -- must look at it one evening this week. I've got a Wordpress meeting on Saturday.
Husband -- we're going to a Brain Injury forum next Monday. Plus his BPPV flared up again this week, so we've had that treated. If you are having trouble with dizziness and balance, this is a great site with lots of information: https://vestibular.org/
Medical/Health -- I have a complete physical booked for next Friday, but had to go into a Dr early because of the spider bite. It is starting to fade a little, I think, but the medication makes me a bit nauseated. I have several other things I need to book - probably next most important is dental for my broken tooth.
Organisation -- first the cycling club stuff ... then I'll have to wade into more organisation stuff.
Recreation -- exercise, entertainment (symphony, plays), and photography are usually my recreation, but I'm starting to think ahead to time off over Christmas and travel.
Now it's lunch and I have a number of errands to run.

Physical - Exercise, Eating, Sleeping -- Need to start exercising more now that I'm almost recovered from spider bite and medication.
Work -- still working on instructions these days, but I see emails starting to come in about other projects. They'll be for next week, I think.
Uni -- Will be doing a lot of reading this weekend.
Cycling Club -- I'm focusing on this right now. Several things to do!! I made some good progress on the website last night which I was really pleased about! But most urgently: We've got another cycling event on the weekend which we're hosting ... tomorrow! I went shopping at lunch for it.
Website -- must look at it one evening this week. I've got a Wordpress meeting next Saturday (1 week).
Husband -- went to a Brain Injury forum last Monday which was quite interesting ... projects coming soon.
Medical/Health -- Complete physical today.
BP is a bit high. Will be tracking it over next couple weeks. Had ECG - good. Will have heart ultrasound soon.
Got measles vax. I am in the age group that only had 1 vax but 2 are needed. I may have had measles in 2016, but just in case I didn't, I want the vax!!
Booked appt for shingles vax.
Dentist next week.
Organisation -- first the cycling club stuff ... then I'll have to wade into more organisation stuff.
Recreation -- exercise, entertainment (symphony, plays), and photography are usually my recreation, but I'm starting to think ahead to time off over Christmas and travel.

Physical - Exercise, Eating, Sleeping -- Walking more + lifting some weights. It's sleeveless season shortly and I'd like my arms to have some muscle tone.
Work -- Finishing up instructions, starting to get into projects. I've got 4 projects before the end of December
Uni -- Much reading + need to start first assignment.
Cycling Club -- I'm focusing on this right now. Several things to do!! Website + prep for December 1 event.
My Personal Website -- must look at it one evening this week. I've got a Wordpress meeting next Saturday.
Husband -- always a never-ending stream of medical appointments + some projects with 2 or 3 different organisations.
Medical/Health -- Tracking BP. At home, it's OK. Heart ultrasound on Monday.
Booked appt for shingles vax, second measles vax, and mole biopsy.
Dentist on Friday.
Organisation -- first the cycling club stuff ... then I'll have to wade into more organisation stuff, but kind of picking away at it.
Recreation -- exercise, entertainment (symphony, plays), and photography are usually my recreation, but I'm starting to think ahead to time off over Christmas and travel. I'm off for 16 days and we'll go away for a few of them. I've booked peace and quiet!! I hope! Hopefully there will be some beach time too, both at home (we live close to a beach) and away ... and cycling time!! It would be fabulous to be able to cycle and/or run/walk every day during those 16 days!!!
I'm also looking around for Christmas dinner options. A couple years ago we did a Christmas buffet for Christmas dinner and I loved it! That's the kind of thing I want again.
Machka in Oz
Physical - Exercise, Eating, Sleeping -- Trying to fit it all in. But lost sleep last night thinking about things.
Work -- And now all the projects begin + a couple extra I hadn't anticipated.
Uni -- Much reading + need to start first assignment ASAP.
Cycling Club -- Several things to do!! Most importantly right now, we've got a big event on Dec 1 which I'm organising. My stomach tightens.
My Personal Website -- I have started working on this. I'd post it here, but not sure if I can: machka . net

Recreation -- Not much of this until Christmas.
I needed to look at one of our roses ... stop and smell the roses for a moment ...
Machka in Oz7 -
We went through these 30 Days of Gratitude in November last year. I won't suggest that we do it again this year, but it is still something to keep in mind as we go into the holiday season.
Machka in Oz
All right ... it's mid November and this will take us through to mid December ... just in time for Christmas!!
Day 1 - November 15 - Smell: My sense of smell is limited and my husband no longer has a sense of smell (or taste) since his accident. However, I can catch a faint scent from the roses and freesias he has grown, which are all coming into bloom.
I'm thankful that he has been able to garden and that we have so many lovely flowers and veggies growing and blooming.
Day 2 - November 16 - Technology: My laptop, my phone, email, facebook ... the fact that technology exists! It's what I do ... it's what I learn ... it's how I communicate with family and friends.
Day 3 - November 17 - Colour: Well ... I'm thankful for the bright colours on my table. Especially since this spring has been quite gloomy. They make me smile.
Day 4 - November 18 - Food: I'm thankful for my weekday lunches ... chicken, rice and veg.
Day 5 - November 19 - Sound: How applicable! I just got my laptop connected to my stereo!! I am appreciating the nice soothing music in the evenings.
Day 6 - November 20 - Nature: All of it! I am very thankful that there is nature ... animals and plants, water, rocks, mountains, hills, all of it. I'm glad I live in a place where I can see and experience nature. I couldn't live in the middle of a large city. My ideal would be in a small town or right on the edge of a larger one so I could be surrounded by countryside in seconds.
Day 7 - November 21 - Memory: I'm thankful for memory. I'm thankful that my husband has some of his memory - he's pretty good at past memories and procedural memories. I'm glad he didn't lose that. I'm also thankful that, with a bit of effort, I've been able to improve my memory a bit. I've discovered that if I focus and work at it, I can remember people's names at least some of the time! I've had to be my husband's memory.
Day 8 - November 22 - Book: Most grateful ... the Bible. It's been a comfort to me, especially in recent times.
Also grateful for books in general.
The last 18 months I've switched to reading "children's" books. I've also found them comforting.
Day 9 - November 23 - Place: I'm thankful for my bed!! Although I'm not there nearly as much as I'd like to be, my bed has become one of my favourite places to be. There I can lose myself in books or sleep.
That said, I need to get a new pillow. Might have to see about doing that tomorrow if possible.
Day 10 - November 24 - Taste! Well, there are only 4 of them: salt, sweet, bitter, sour, and I've written them in order of preference.
I am thankful I have all 4 but I wish my husband did again.
Day 11 - November 25 - Holiday: How appropriate ... one month before Christmas. Christmas is my favourite public holiday. I'm love the music, the decorations, the food, the Christmas Carol evenings, the lights, and the celebration of Jesus birth. I'm thankful that we have a Christmas holiday.
As for holidays in general, I enjoy any opportunity to a) take time off work, and b) travel. I'm very thankful I live and work in Australia where I get quite a decent amount of holiday time.
Machka in Oz
Day 12 - November 26 - Texture: Smooth. Since the measles (?) in 2016, I need to wear very smooth clothes. I've been thankful to find such things at a good price.
And the soft texture of the fur of kitties.
Machka in Oz1 -
Hi all! I’m new here but not new to weight loss or MFP. I am 48 and need to lose about 100lbs. I’m ready to check in and report daily. That’s what worked the last time so idk why it’s taken me this long to do it again! But I’m ready now!7

Day 12 - November 26
I am most grateful for smooth textures both physical and in the arts. The feel of a rose petal against my cheek is one of my favorites.0 -
"Oh what a beautiful morning!" There wasn't a bright golden haze on the meadow; or a meadow, for that matter. BUT it is, a practically balmy, high 40s outside; and the stars are bright and plentiful in a clear sky. Walking today was an absolute delight! I had Orion to keep me company and passed quite a few other walkers and runners in the dark. All of us wearing our various kinds of lights, reflective gear, etc. Most grunting as they pass someone, while I was practically singing my good morning to them. lol
Good morning all! Welcome newbies! Please feel free to visit often and jump in and comment on whatever moves you. Remember to sign your posts with what you would like us to call you. Also remember to book mark this page by clicking on the empty star on the same line as the title. At the end of the month, our fearless leader Barbie will post the link that will lead us into December. (Unbelievable that December is only a few days away!)
I have met my walking challenge of 100 miles for this month! Whoot! So...anything I walk between tomorrow and the end of the month is bonus miles! If I continue to get my yoga and strength training in for the next couple of days, I will meet my goal of 24 hours of exercise in a month! Both of these are huge for me due to having to fit two hours of exercise into my already busy work day. Hopefully the scale will see the change. I know my clothes are fitting nicer!
Amber- I am a firm believer that babies (like animals) can sense "good people". IF you can find that pic of you, you should post it.
Yogi- So glad you are feeling better, young man! (in my best doggy voice:) "Who's a good boy?! Who's a good boy?! You are! Yes, you are!" (lots of virtual pats and ear scratches given )
Karen VA- A cranberry relish with peppers and lime and cilantro?! Sounds heavenly!
Heather MILLIONAIRE'S SHORTBREAD?! How could I have never had this? Yummm!
Gratitude #12- Texture: While I do like smooth at the end of the day (such as when I slide into nice clean sheets), during the day I love a nubbly texture under my hand. I have sensory books and toys for the kids and I absolutely love the nubbly/bumpy textured ones. I can feel the energy flowing into me when I run my hands over them. Good stuff!
Love and hugs to you all! That is about all that I've got, today. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)3
