Machka- I didn't say I dance well I just love it. I put on music at home and dance. I would love to learn ballroom. Husband has no rhythm and no desire. We have danced maybe 7 times including our wedding. At some point I would love to find an adult ballet class. I took ballet up to Pointe when I was a child along with tap. When I lived in the Philippines, I learned square dancing, round dancing,, and clogging. My ex is a square dance caller still. I still love to dance with everyone at weddings and parties. That reminds me of my first high school dance. I asked a friend how you get a guy to ask you to dance. She said sit on the bleachers and move with the music. After a few great songs, I got brave. I walked up to a group of guys and asked who wanted to dance! My friend was horrified! I ended up dancing all night with a great partner. I follow well. Lots of turns, flips, fun! He sucked as a boyfriend (has been married 4 times), but a great dancer.
Kylia in Ohio where winter finally decided to show up
I've never danced.
My parents didn't think it was appropriate when I was young and I was (and still am) very introverted so the idea of dancing with people watching didn't seem at all appealing anyway.
My first dance experience was at my high school grad. All the grads and partners were to gather in the middle of the gym, the lights would dim, the music would start and we were all supposed to do the first dance. My partner didn't know how to dance either so when we were herded into the middle, we hung toward the edge and when the lights dimmed, we just sidled away and left.
My first wedding had a short afternoon tea as the reception with no dancing. My second wedding's reception was at a restaurant. The 6 of us who attended had a nice meal and conversation.
In a "How to Teach Physical Education to Children" class in university, there was part of one class where we learned a small sort of aerobic/dance step pattern but I wouldn't really call it dancing.
There is a dance school nearby and my husband and I comment now and then that we should look into a very, very beginner course for us. But we haven't done anything about it.
Still ... it looks fun.

Line dance class
walking with a friend or with something audio to keep me company
Also riding my recumbent exercise bike
What attracted me to line dancing in a class was that it was something I could do alone in a group. There is no partner to worry about and since everyone is dancing, no one is watching and judging.6 -

JanerO I have the same issue of getting lost in a puzzle or a game. I now use a shortcut on my phone where I can say”Hey Siri I’m playing a game” and a timer is automatically set for 15 minutes. It sounds silly, but saying it out loud instead of typing it into my phone has made a world of difference. I even set it this morning for being on this app, as I have to work soon!6

Allie - writing a lot these days, which is good for my head, but not for here, so much... All the words are pouring out over there. I do read everyone's entries, and I'm sorry work is getting even worse. You're getting lots of good advice from all over, so just hugs, girlie.
Hugs to all who need them, kudos to those who've gotten wins both on the scales and off. For those who are into having something to center them, this is my background on both my computers right now, in order to keep myself centered and retrain that automatic connection between my temper and my mouth (or my typing fingers) to disconnect it as an ongoing habit:
Don't speak.
Don't email.
Don't walk away.
Don't react.
Delay with calm action.
Reframe.
Resume.

Did a yoga DVD in the condo today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a walking DVD at the clubhouse.
Going to go to Merritt Island today to go to Michael’s. Hopefully, they have the yarn I need. I know that the Michael’s in NC carries it. You know, I really don’t like the Hobby Lobby here. They don’t have a whole lot. Well, I guess better than nothing.
Favorite cardio: probably HIIT since it burns the same number of calories in half the time.
Katla – I thought of you while I was doing the yoga DVD. Boy, was I getting warm! Good workout
Flea – have a great trip. How long will you be there for?
M – I would think a simple dance would be good for your hubby’s mind. As long as he doesn’t get too overwhelmed if he can’t do something. That’s why I suggest something simple, like a box step.
Sam – most times when I’m on here but I need to leave for an exercise class, I put a timer on to remind me when to leave. One time I totally forgot and by the time I remembered, the class had started.

Using Moms ziplock I inherited in the garage (going to use up on JR in school lunches someday) asked for cheese y pancake 🥞 mix for JR y hubby came home with a 10lb bag.JR ate 5lbs this week of pancake mix so 10lbs is nothing! This growth spurt turned his 2 sandwich 🥪 in one day a few snacks into a shark 🦈 tank feeding frenzy! Cheese 🧀 Hubby bought bulk so breaking it down. Won’t be buying it for awhile lol. Maybe....
Got Valentines flowers 💐 from Hubby they smell so nice! I have only gotten something for Valentines from a man or anyone (school my card box was always empty so I cried for Charlie Browns specials ..poor Charlie! )only For 5yrs of my life I’ve gotten something for Valentines Day (Hubby the only person not my Dad or my 1 Aunty card to ever get me anything). Gotta love ❤️ him. Probably cause we met on Valentine’s Day he asked me out on an online dating app (Christian Mingle had to weed out the losers) a few days before was my 1st ever Valentines date! (For a Woman who’s been married before just shows what jerks they were!)

Having a semi-typical Saturday. Son in Phoenix faced-timed-had a very nice visit with him. His wife took daughter to Disney Land for her Christmas present, so he and son are getting some one-on-one time. Grandson is pretty rambunctious-typical two year old boy.
Fund raiser for food pantry at Church tonight. We have a soup competition. I'm taking a turkey sausage/potato/cabbage soup I tried out a couple of weeks ago that family liked. I don't enter to win anything, just to support a good cause. Some folks are pretty competitive, I just go for taking something edible. Also has an auction of things. This year not a lot I want to bid on (only try to bid on things I will use). There are a couple of things I will bid too much on, but have plans for--only will bid because of the cause.
Off to get things ready, along with some chores.
Enjoy Saturday all,

Heather: Sorry your DH is worrying about his back. :flowerforyou:
Karen in VA: We have Amazon Prime so will be able to order avocado oil if we can’t find it in a local store. Thanks for the tip. I’m hearing wet & wild weather reports for Maryland. I’m glad that you don’t have major damage.
Machka: I can’t dance either. I get dizzy. :ohwell:
Samand: I sometimes wonder about the mental health connected with arguing with Siri on the phone. Siri is not an actual person, but I find myself arguing with it now and then.
The river is running fairly high today and I’m feeling cozy inside our home.
Our son and DDIL are headed to TX to see DDIL’s mom. She has been fighting cancer for a long while and may be nearing the end of her fight. She is a brave woman and I have always admired her. My heart aches for the whole family.

I don't have a favorite cardio; I prefer variety. My favorite part of the whole deal is my most excellent music!

Katla - Heart goes out to to your son and DDIL.
My son and DDIL had a great 50 km cycle ride this morning. They came back exhausted and muddy, having tackled the HARD side of Ditchling Beacon on the South Downs. We ate the delicious lasagne, then DH and I walked home, carrying our bakery focaccia and picking up a few more bits on the way. It's my pea and ham hock soup for dinner with focaccia and dressed salad. Fresh mango for dessert.
DH is watching England play Scotland in the rugby and his team Watford play Brighton in the football. Both at the same time! I will deliver him food through the door.
When we got back I forced myself to do 30 mins rowing to make up my 600 burn. Phew! Then I checked on my river cruise booking, rang them up to check a few things, and then set about booking flights for the May Glasgow trip. My preferred flight was already booked up! So I've got to get an early one, which I hate doing. I booked it and paid a few pounds extra so I can choose my seat, board early, and take my handbag (purse) in addition to my cabin luggage. I can get a train early in the morning, but for not a whole lot more I'm considering booking a taxi for the whole thirty miles to Gatwick airport. Might be a whole lot easier and less stressful. My friend will pick me up at the other end as she lives out in the countryside.
For those who do not know me, this is a group reunion of four of us who were at school together. We have stayed in touch! We are all over 70. We try to get together twice a year. I like going to the friend who lives in Glasgow because she has a very comfortable house, with room for us all, and a most accommodating husband who can't do enough for us. The added advantage is that he keeps my difficult friend occupied with his questions and attention, so it gives us a break.
They are excellent hosts and have a barbecue hut, where one can barbecue in comfort and under cover, which is essential in Glasgow. I absolutely love it! It's all lit up with string lights and works up a real heat. The only challenge is not to drink too much, while the husband plies you with drinks!
Should be fun.

This is Edie this morning taking on the challenge of how many things can she carry without dropping them. She managed 22 with a bit of lateral thinking.

Went to Merritt Island and was only able to get the yarn I wanted. They don't carry the other things I wanted. Will probably run over to Hobby Lobby (yuk) to get those things.
Then we went to a ceramics place but they mainly do classes with small pieces. However, she did give us a good lead on another place that has lots of Disney characters. Only the father died and next weekend they're having his celebration of life. That works for us since we'll be at the Daytona anyway and can't possibly go there. So we'll probably go another time.
Came home and had lunch. Maybe I'll walk over to HL

Kylia - My mother is a square dancer. She spends winters in south Texas and dances several times a day. I never liked it that much, but she tries hard to keep it alive with the grandkids when she’s back at home.
I would love to take tap dancing lessons. I found a place that gives them and that also has a tap cardio class. I will sign up for that once we close on our property sale. I’m just too stressed right now to do much.
Cardio - I run. More like a slow gallop, but it's faster than walking. I like it. I just get bored when the only place I get to do it is around my neighborhood. That's part of the downside to not having a car or reasonable public transport.
Heather - Edie is very creative. I am impressed.
It's a lovely day outside. We tried going out on our friend's boat, but when he started it up, a belt broke loose. So, I went on a walk and am about to sit outside for a while It's supposed to get cold and stormy starting tomorrow and lasting through Wednesday or so.

Thanks! Laughing out loud at your question for Karen in VA
]Karen in VA sorry to hear of so much damage, grateful you and yours were spared.
Annie in DE are you ok?
Katla I shut Siri off soon after getting my first iPhone… but I frequently tell the checkout computer at Freddie’s that “I’m working on it” and “Cool your pits!” Out loud and in public My car’s voice is bossy too.
Amber SMH at JR’s growth spurt/food intake. Congrats on trading new Mickey Mouse shoes for too tiny ones.
Heather what a great challenge? Lost in admiration for how you and KJ and Amber think up all those wonderful activities for the little ones.
Aerobic activity:
Most favorite: line dancing, walking. What Barbie said about line dancing’s attractions.
Least favorite: vacuuming  Witness how many carryover cleanings in the ToDo list. Walk away from the computer, Barbara, walk away!

I was way behind, 182 posts, I just didn’t have the energy to read each night after work this week so I cuddled up and binge watched tv.
Heather and Machka - I love the country and miss it so much. I grew up in 400 acres of forestland. The only chainsaws were my Grandfather’s and the only dog was ours. Now I live in a small city where planes take off and land every few minutes, a train rumbles by a few times a day, the highway traffic drives me insane. I am going “home” this year and can not wait to sit on my Brothers porch and take in the silence. I’ll share a pic taken from his porch in my next post.
Lisa - I can not handle being micromanaged, but I think besides that the thing that bothers me most is when there are inconsistencies in the rules. I have been dealing with that this last month and I have seriously thought about looking for other work because of it. I love your expression the cheese slipped off your cracker. It describes so much in life.
Barbie - I love how Jake tried to tell you he could drive, my husband would do the same I’m sure.
Rebecca - Athena is beautiful. My eldest daughter and my Grandson both walked by 10 months. It’s exhausting for the parents because once they start they don’t stop!
Ginny - I mentioned to my husband a couple weeks ago that I remember listening to my grandparents say they couldn’t drive at night. I never understood what the difference was, but I’m noticing it now and understand.
Friendships - I am fortunate to have a few women in my life that I can call upon to do something with. For movies depending on the storyline I’ll call on one or both of my daughters. One loves the sappy one like me, the other not so much. I really wish I could get my hubby to do more with me though. I miss couple things.
Michele - I agree we do so much that interests our husbands and they don’t reciprocate. Mine is a NASCAR fan too and is very envious of you and Vince right now.
Kylia- it must be hard at times working with family. I don’t think I could do it. I hope they find out what is making you feel so poorly soon.
I have given some thoughts to stairs too and I’m thinking about it there are no tall buildings in my city. We are right next to the airport so the tallest building is only three stories high. I used to do stairs when I worked in a high rise though.
I am keeping the Grands tonight so their parents can celebrate their birthdays. My daughters was the 3rd and my Son in laws the 12th. The Grands have known since Wednesday that they are staying tonight and have been making more plans than we can possibly fit in.
Jonah (8) wants to catch up on Young Sheldon which he only watches with me. He thought he should wear his bow tie from Auntie’s wedding for this portion of our evening. He also wants to build armour and weaponry out of cardboard, I am trying to figure that one out. We are going for a supply shopping trip as soon as they arrive.
Michaela (4) wants to see stars in the sky. We can’t see them in the city due to the lights so if it is a clear night we will go for a drive to see stars. How can I resist this one? Not to be left out of our building and crafting, she wants to make a crown and has been thinking about what supplies she needs.
I am making some banana bread for a treat for them and we are having homemade pizza for supper. They haven’t spent the night in a long while so I’m looking forward to it.
I need to go do some cleaning and get my banana bread on the go. I enjoy making it, but won’t eat it myself.
Tracey in Edmonton
It’s a bright sunny day with clear skies and I hope it stays that way into the evening so we can see stars.⭐️⭐️⭐️7 -
I trimmed little Teddy's toes today. His winter coat is thick and shaggy, and it starts to mat at the roots around his hips. He is due for a full short cut later this spring but I clipped a little for now. Trying to balance between keeping him warm vs getting the mats before they grow. He has a downy undercoat. He is a Maltese cross with Cavalier King Charles, doesn't shed at all, but he always needs clipping.
I can't seem to post pictures. I think I refused a permission somewhere.

Heather: Thanks for the good wishes for DDIL’s mom. Right now things are looking a little better.
Karen in VA: I argue with SIRI, too. My SIRI has a male voice. As a typical male, he doesn’t always understand what I’m telling him.
Barbara: Siri is good at finding addresses and making phone calls. Not so good as a personal advisor. Just my 2 cents worth. :ohwell:
I have been fidgety so decided to knit dishrags. I knit these from cotton yarn that I usually buy at Walmart. I’ve worn several to the point that they’re on duty for washing barbecues, workshop counters and cars. The worst of them are recycled. Since they’re cotton it is easy enough to recycle them.
News for DDIL’s mom is a bit more hopeful. They’re trying something new. Keeping our fingers crossed that it works and her mom feels better.

Tracey - How they love making things out of cardboard! Thank goodness for Amazon! DH spent a lot of time pushing around a huge box with Max crawling inside it, scaring the girls.
We also did some Art with feathers, pipe cleaners and lollipop sticks. I made a fairy. Edie made Mr Forkie. Max drew a giant squid attacking a pirate ship.
Your evening sounds great. I rely a lot on DH for the fun bit, I get on with the food and clearing up.
Time for bed. We are promised Storm Ciara for later tonight and tomorrow. I hope our TV aerial stays up!
