Snow, snow and more snow. ❄❄❄ Over a foot of the heavy, wet kind has fallen today. We are grateful to have a garage, reliable power and plenty of food so just hunkering down and waiting for tomorrow when it's expected to be sunny and nice again.
KJ: 💗💗💗 Joaquin and Miguel. Too cute.
Heather: Yes, those chandeliers are fantastic. I want to see that place.
Allie: I can vouch for Zicam. The cold I had two weeks ago stayed mild and passed fast.
Cathy and Janet: I used to go to Seattle regularly for work and family visits. I second the Chihuly museum, Space Needle and a ferry ride. (It's easy to get to Whidbey where Rebecca lives.) I thought the Boeing tour was fascinating and I've never looked at commercial planes the same way.
Katla: I find avocado oil at all my grocery stores and Costco. You can find it in pourable and spray versions.
That photo of the marinated cheese has definitely sparked a craving. Thinking of making tuna melts for dinner tonight. Stay well friends. We can do this.

KetoneKaren-Is everything ok in your area of VA? We had nasty winds in WV and parts of Winchester,Va. this morning. I saw pics on FB of MD. damage and my son said it was crazy in the morning at his work. Torrential rains and gusty winds but the power stayed on. Hope you are ok.
Marianne WV3 -
Michele: I could probably answer for you.2
-
JanetO - You may think the Boeing tour sounds dull, but I thought it was really interesting. Even if you are not the least bit interested in planes or aviation, it is still a very cool tour....just the sheer numbers they toss out and the size of the facility are impressive and worth hearing and seeing.

I would love to go on that tour!!

After ten days of pain, yesterday’s endoscopy showed I’m the proud owner of an ulcer. We have to wait a week for biopsy reports, but doc doesn’t seem worried so I’m trying not to be. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!
My only advice is do exactly what the doctor recommends and don't stress out about it. Take your waiting time and recovery one day at a time.

I agree ... chances are you'll go onto antibiotics, it'll clear up and you might need to eat some yogurt to balance things again.
But go with whatever the Dr says.

Now I feel like I might be able to concentrate on writing my final exam ... which I urgently need to do this weekend. It is due on Feb 17 ... and I've now got everything ready to roll.
Next week, I've got a Cycling club AGM one evening. On another evening we're going to a movie called "How to Bee" because my husband is interested in getting a hive. I don't know if we've got enough room, but I thought we'd pursue the idea a little bit. We've got a Brain Injury peer group meeting and Pilates one right after the other early in the week. And there are a several other things I need to take care of.
Fortunately, this coming weekend is a long weekend. That snuck up on me! It's not like me to forget a long weekend!! So I don't have plans to go anywhere and that's probably a good thing. My current plans include: sleep, exam, and checking out some roads for potential cycling routes ... and maybe doing a bit of cycling on those roads.
Machka in Oz
It's the long weekend!! And it's damp and drizzly out there which is all right.
I've got most of my references into my exam paper and will need to start reading through them and putting it together today.
Later we'll likely cycle inside or out if the drizzle clears up.

In the Fitness subforum, the question was asked about our favourite cardio ... so I thought I'd ask it here too and share some of mine ...
What's your favourite cardio activity or activities?
Cycling long distances outside.
And hiking ...
And walking in the evenings ... or running sometimes ...

Spent today cooking.
JR growth spurt he ate:
4 peanut butter pancakes 🥞
1 plate spaghetti 🍝
1 protein shake 1/2 baby cup
2 bowls teddy Grahm crackers
3 plates of shredded cheese
Granola few bites
Gatorade zero 1/4 baby cup
He asking for more told him no it’s night night now!
I made 2 containers of spaghetti 🍝,2 container of peanut butter pancakes 🥞 but he ate 1 already!, 2 cornbreads (hubby y me ate 1 already),1 chili goulash . Was a lot but should last 2-3days hopefully.

Tired got to clean sleep feed JR all day again. He’s turning into a teen boy not a 3yr old!3 -
Oh good news got his tiny shoes (favorite ones!) away from him into the give away bag in the garage! Gave him new Mickey Mouse shoes next size up so his toes fit!
Amber Tx5 -
Rori-Hugs! We haven't seen that kind of snow here in a few years. We got an inch today. Then the sun came out and the snow is all gone. Stay warm and safe!
I would have loved to have sold a snowblower today, but it wasn't in the cards. Tired tonight. Curling up and relaxing. Had dinner with friends who then wanted to go shopping. I just wasn't up to it. Another time.
Sleep well my friends.

Machka- favorite cardio is dance! Second is walking/hiking.2
-
Amber- that is a lot of food! My grand sons are outgrowing shoes every 3-4 weeks! It is crazy! They are both almost 12. My oldest granddaughter was tiny until she turned 10, then she shot up a foot! She is now my height at almost 17. I don't envy you!3

Heather: You have more ambition and energy for travel than I do, by far. I am confident you’ll find ways to enjoy the travel adventures you crave. I hope that your DH will be healthy enough to go along and enjoy himself, too. :flowerforyou:
MKay004: Welcome!
Rori: I’ll check the local grocery stores first. Costco is a 30+ mile trip each way. There has been road construction between here and there for months, but it is finally completed. I have one closer store that might have avocado oil and will try it first. :flowerforyou:
I’m fidgety and using the energy to knit dish rags for my kitchen. I’ve made many over the years and a group of those old ones needs to be retired and replaced.

Good evening, all.
In LA this week with hubby -- he had business meetings. We went to see The Last Ship last night. Very nice. The music was wonderful, the sets and projections were amazing, and the acting/singing was terrific. While hubby has been in meetings, I have been walking and more walking. Eating has been fine, and I managed to get quite a bit of sun on my face, even though the weather, with the exception of today, which was near 70, has been in the 50s or low 60s. Brrr. I did not pack appropriately, but I have survived. We are going to the Getty tomorrow before our evening flight back to PDX.
Welcome to the new ladies. Prayers for those of you suffering losses and illnesses.

Willamette Valley, Oregon, currently in DTLA (It took me a while to figure out what that stands for -- Downtown LA, so you don't also have to be wondering, in case you don't know.)6 -
Flea - Sounds like a good trip. I would love to go to the Getty.
Katla - DH is stressing about his back and having anxiety issues about it. He gets a bit clingy when he is like that. I am ready to book a flight for a couple of nights away with the girls at my friend's place in Glasgow for May, and he is just a little nervous about me going away. He is not sleeping well. I will book it and go anyway. It upsets me to see him anxious and then I don't sleep well.
This morning I am awake very early because we are walking over to the grandkids to babysit while their parents go out cycling for a few hours. Then all off for a pizza. I won't be able to do my normal exercise so hope the walking will help and maybe get some rowing in later today.

We fared well!
But not everyone did.
Yesterday, in our county alone, 5,000 people were out of power due to high winds. In Virginia, 8 counties closed schools due to flooding, high winds, and/or power outages. It was quite a day!
My grandson got his online school work done on my laptop with a hot spot.
Our heavy freestanding garden portal blew over! Lots of limbs down. The birds stayed away from the feeders. We do have power at our house and do not have major damage.
Thank you for thinking of us.

Katla Do you have Amazon Prime? You could get your Avocado Oil on Amazon or Amazon Pantry, with free shipping if you have Prime. Now that they own Whole Foods, the possibilities are endless. We use AmazonSmile so our charity (currently our granddaughter's swim team) gets a 0.5% donation each time we purchase something. xo

Awake awake awake. Think I'll go fold laundry. Woohoo!!! Then a cup of herbal tea, & maybe I can catch a couple more hours of sleep.

Saturday - Rode Zwift. First attempt, my RPMs kept dropping to 0 and I couldn't get up any speed on the screen despite riding hard. Also the other cyclists and I were riding all over the place like we were all drunk. Stopped after a frustrating 20 minutes and started again. All good! Speeds normal, other cyclists normal.

Cardio - I love dancing and, much to my surprise, I also love my 5ks along the sea front. I only started jogging two years ago aged 68, but I do love it. I would like to do more dancing but my time is pretty full. We dance 3 or four times a day on our cruises.
We are at the grandkids house. Not going to Fatto, thank goodness, as my son has prepared a lasagne. I was going to share a pizza with DH as I still like to eat a proper dinner. I haven't weighed myself since before Christmas as I am too scared. Only 8-9 weeks until the cruise. I do feel a bit fat. I will have a sensible portion of lasagne.

Good Saturday!
Major leg cramps woke me up-ugh! More snow coming in, but only another inch or so.
Machka- I didn't say I dance well I just love it. I put on music at home and dance. I would love to learn ballroom. Husband has no rhythm and no desire. We have danced maybe 7 times including our wedding. At some point I would love to find an adult ballet class. I took ballet up to Pointe when I was a child along with tap. When I lived in the Philippines, I learned square dancing, round dancing,, and clogging. My ex is a square dance caller still. I still love to dance with everyone at weddings and parties. That reminds me of my first high school dance. I asked a friend how you get a guy to ask you to dance. She said sit on the bleachers and move with the music. After a few great songs, I got brave. I walked up to a group of guys and asked who wanted to dance! My friend was horrified! I ended up dancing all night with a great partner. I follow well. Lots of turns, flips, fun! He sucked as a boyfriend (has been married 4 times), but a great dancer.
I don't wanna go to work today It was so nice having last Saturday off. Today is Donovan's day though. He and my daughter are leaving around 11ish. We will pick up kiddos after work at 2. Yay!
Have a great day!
Hugs!
Congratulations!
Welcomes!

Karen in VA- Glad all is good for you!
HeatherUK- My husband is the same way! You would think they were 2 yo when we want to get away for a short time. Mine has almost quit picking fights before I leave. I think it is their way of missing us. 😘1 -
So Monday I weighed in at 128.3, yesterday the scale said 126.6, this morning at 124.8! That is exciting, but the only thing I have changed is making sure I get my water in and no white breads, pastas, cakes, cookies, candies, chocolate or alcohol. Hmmmm. Maybe something is working! Joints feeling better today too in spite of leg cramps.

Morning, I'm feeling fortunate that our downstate NY winter weather hasn't been overwhelming, just cold and wet this year so far. In upstate NY, Rachel is snowed in, she found out she was accepted to her first choice for graduate school (hooray) but is waiting for all offers to make her final decision, phew she is growing up! I started chatting with you ladies when she was graduating from High School! In fact, I was drawn to getting healthier to fit into a smaller dress size for her graduation among other reasons for taking care of myself. Looking back, I've managed to keep off the excess weight and hover around maintenance weight fairly consistently, in no small part due to the accountability and support from all of you wonderful folks. So for the next 100 days (her college graduation) I will reflect on setting new health goals, I'm inspired by all the activity, dancing, running, gardening etc that you all take up with great enjoyment.
My Saturday will include meal prep, laundry, decluttering and treadmill, exciting hmmm
