    Well, all has become clear about the furious and costly activity getting the pebbles off the seafront on Friday. It is the Brighton Half Marathon this morning, and that is part of the route.
    Unfortunately last night was excessively windy, with terrific gusts, so I suspect some of the pebbles are back! I can't see how they are going to run this morning unless it calms down suddenly. The youth run has been postponed for another day, but, as far as I can see on the website the main race is still going ahead. It passes by us two blocks away on the seafront, but, with the wind and rain, I don't think we will be cheering them on. In gusts it's as bad as the recent named storms.
    Last year my son and DDIL completed the half marathon. We had the kids for the night and went down to support them. It was a glorious, sunny, warm day! February was a heatwave last year.
    Here's hoping the wind subsides. :o:|

    Good morning all. Still reading back posts. Yesterday was cold, and blustery with frequent downpours, but this morning is clear so far. My prunus purpurea is covered in tiny pink blossom and the magnolia buds are beginning to blush. Snowdrops and other early spring bulbs are in flower.

    It's odd to think that final week of February is upon us already!

    Rebecca: I so agree. I love reading about all our antics. It's amazing that modern technology has made this possible.

    Lanette – Again, thank you for the link. It’s very interesting and contained a lot of good information, especially about the results of the gut microbe transplant. I think I mentioned there was a podcast on NPR regarding our microbes and how little is actually known about the right mix and how each one of us is different and may require different balances. It also mentions how quick people are to jump on a fix-all and do more damage to their systems than the intention of the product. It’s a long listen (9-minutes).

    Barbara – Reading your Friday To Do list made me glad I am still working! Glad Joe and you were able to enjoy the impromptu picnic. During my teen years I worked at Burger King and still crave them from time-to-time. I am also happy you are relived the at-home test will put the matter to rest with Joe.

    Karen – Barefoot in the snow! I am so spoiled here in Florida I got chills just thinking about it.

    Ginny – Congratulations with the checkup and your vitals. Hopefully the antibiotic kicks in and you start feeling better. When I am eating out or at functions I take pictures of my plate and record later. It helps me remember my intake and makes tracking easier (even if it's bad). :smile:

    Kylia – People stink! I swear if those who thought so long and hard about how to take advantage of others put their minds to being better the world would be a much nicer place.

    Terri – I agree. Last week of February!!

    Avoiding the Office Germs – It seems my preventive trick worked or it could be mind over matter. Making and eating the homemade chicken soup seemed to keep me nice and healthy. The sick ones are all still trading the “cold” while I remain in the clear. I think I will be making a vitamin loaded vegetable-based soup this week.

    Office PITB Situations – Since I have been working for quite some time at the same company I know who responds and who does not. When I have a project dependent upon receiving information in order to get my job done I set a reminder for both myself and the receiver of the email I am sending. I put the follow up date way before I actually need the information. If I receive the information prior to the reminder I remove the flags when I send a thank you. If I do not get the information from the true procrastinators when the reminder pops up I forward the original email to them and adjust the flag three days ahead. If I have to follow up a third time I do the same thing and copy their manager and mine. I have found when I practice this regularly people begin to realize they need to respond to my emails or they are going to have pesky reminders popping up all of the time. I am down to one person for which I must set reminders and have found they are just awful time managers. For those I work closely with I have mentored them and now all have monthly Excel to do lists for weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports. The lists contain the information needed, to whom it goes to, and what day/week/month it’s due each quarter.

    It is off to the races for me. I hope everyone is having or has had a great day.

    I haven't posted my stats in a while. My February goal was to average 6k steps a day and I am holding true there. Next month I will aim for the same with at least half being at a healthy rate (100+ steps / minute).

    The weight continues to drop. I am still ahead of my younger self. The week of February 16th I was off the rails, but am now back on track. Key: WW = WeightWatchers

Seems to me the farmers have been brainwashed by the postwar chemical industry to buy unneeded “…cides” just as the medical community is now being brainwashed by the pharmaceutical industry, all to create demand/market for their products. Kind of like bankers talking farmers into big loans for equipment, then when things take a downturn, acquiring family farmland and selling it to agribiz. Just mho.

I resemble that remark :laugh: If no gentle/chair yoga near you, you might check out “Better Bones and Balance” videos on youtube. I’m taking such a class and I can tell it’s helping. I can now slip on gravel and not go down. Good thing as both wrist are tired of being broken ;) 18 hrs, yikes! Yes, please break that drive up. With your pain how could you cope if your DH was disabled by DVT/PEs? Iris’ smile is almost as cute as Rebecca's Athena Rose's toes! :smiley:

    A question just came to me (ala Machka): Nicknames, did you have any as a child? Did you love ‘em or hate ‘em?

    Challenge today will be getting in some steps. 4K is my normal range, the past 3 days have been 6K twice, once 11K. It felt good! Today will be a lot of sitting (church, theatre) so need to get my butt UP and dance around the house or scoot the dogs down to the lane quick. Oh I know, I’ll march while listening to the podcast SuziQ recommended. Thanks!

    Found a recipe for meat y cheese only pizza no carbs.Use aluminum foil he says.Found it interesting that it worked! Can of chicken heated to dry it 5minutes 350* mix with cheese y a egg 🥚 shape into a crust 10 minutes 500* take out put cheese y pepperoni 🍕 on top back in oven 6-10 min 500* then ready to eat. Suprised it worked!

    Barbie: I have a convert app that includes temperatures. The one I have now is not as easy to use as I would like. :grumble: However, I can see that it is 45 F here and that equals 7.222 C. Somehow it seems like 45 ought to be warmer than 7.2222. Instead, they’re the same. Bottom line is that I need a jacket to be comfortable outside this morning. :wink:

    Barbara: I’m sorry that your DH is so inflexible about eating out. I wonder why he doesn’t want to leave the dogs home alone for an hour or two. Have they caused damage or torn things up in the past? We used to go out to eat more often, especially for breakfast. DH’s dietary issues have eliminated going out for breakfast as a possibility. I think he could order food that he can eat and avoid wheat products, but he isn’t willing to give it a try. He is wise to be cautious. Eating the wrong thing can result in nasty tummy troubles. :ohwell:

    Tracey in Edmonton: I have a friend who grew up on a wheat farm in Eastern Washington State. They used crop dusters to spray the fields for weeds, and her dad would be out there on the fields while the crops were being dusted. He died from cancer caused by the chemicals they sprayed. I can’t help but wonder how much of that poison was left in the wheat flour when it was packaged and sold to consumers. :cry:

    Barbie: I flew to see DD relatively recently. I found it very stressful. DH did all the booking and went the lower cost route, which resulted in layovers and plane changes. :grumble: I’ve decided that I want direct flights only in the future. He refuses to fly at all. :noway:

My DH looks at the outside world like Joe does.... if he were to actually say "let's go do something" I'd question his sanity, lol. He too worries about leaving the dogs alone.     - thanks for sharing that podcast about probiotics, interesting info there. I accessed Greenmedinfo.com and did a search on probiotics. Over 1000 abstacts popped up! I didn't read through them, but it appears a lot of scientific research has been done. The podcast did have good advice about not just buying the most expensive with the most strains.

    I decided to pull "Wild Fermentation" by Sandor Katz off my bookshelf. Think I'll give kefir a try. I agree, our gut microbiomes are so complex! I am curious about how our ancestry might enter into it. Being 100% German, my gut gets along well with sauerkraut, fermented dairy (buttermilk, yogurt) etc. And potato salad = resistant starch which gut microbes love! Cold cooked starch veggies, pasta and noodle dishes. I'm glad to oblige. B)

    After my digestive problems in December, I chose a rather inexpensive pre/probiotic that helped restore balance. Getting better all the time. NEWS FLASH.... blood/poo tests came back no infection....everything is back to normal.

    I finally tried some Chickpea Pasta made by Barilla. I give it a thumbs up! Texture a bit different than wheat pasta, but not bad at all. Like that it has fiber and protein.

    OK ladies, sun is out so maybe I can grab a few steps between showers. Have a fabulous day! <3

    I bought some pasta noodles made out of sweet potato, I still need to try them! Kinda fell off the omad bus, but I found my ticket again and am back on.👍

    One of my favorite take-out meals is Jap Chae - a Korean dish with the sweet potato noodles, a kind of sweet/hot sesame dressing, veggies and shiitake mushrooms.

    The Asian restaurant in town where I'd buy them went out of business. :( After 50 years... the grandkids didn't want to keep it open.

    Do you recall where you bought the noodles?
