Day/Weight/Comment
3/8: 141.8 (-.4) – Did a longish yoga class yesterday and a nice walk. The next 8 weeks may be rough as I navigate the hip issue and try to maintain/ lose lbs. I think sticking to water, mindful eating, good choices is the answer. How many calories will I burn washing hands and not touching my face? 🤣
3/9: 141.0 (-.8) – Guess I answered the question above! Washing hands burns lots of calories. And I also ate well under my calories yesterday…too much most likely. I ate too late and then wasn’t starving at dinner. Gotta focus on slow steady weight loss and good habits.😏
3/10: 141.8 (+.8) – There you have it….back to where I started. Exercise box was checked nicely yesterday but the eating box did not go as planned – I let the stress from the news get to me and was hungry waiting for hubs to get home so delved into the dang Black Pepper Triscuits….then added a caloric bowl meal to dinner….should have done a better job adding ingredients. Then had some wine…..It all comes back to choices…..🤔
3/11: 141.6 (-.2) - Well….Dang it. Had my MRI follow up. Femoral head stress fracture, most likely due to bone insufficiency….aka osteopenia/porosis. I have osteopenia. But have been religious with vitamin D/ weight bearing exercise – running, and now strength training, etc. Guess it has not been enough and running more caused it. So I have been told to stop running and even distance walking for 8 weeks. I can slowly cycle, swim, yada yada yada….Gotta come up with a plan. It’s not an uncommon injury for runners. 😒
3/12:141.2 (-.4) A little surprised. As part of my social distancing, wine has reared its ugly head. I will need to really focus on food choices if I am going to survive 8 weeks without major cardio options and I also really need to rethink what I am eating for bone health.
3/13: 140.8 (-.4) Happy with this….really feeling the need to stress eat and drink. Son is in NYC and there are rumors of a full quarantine and he needs to stay and work. I am not that worried about him getting the virus….just the isolating feeling. What a mess this all is. Stay safe people and wash your hands. 😍
3/14: 140.0 (-.8) Busy day and did my 40 minute cycle at the gym. They haven’t closed it yet so I will keep going but just wiping down the bike before and after and washing my hands. Ate light until dinner because I knew we were having friends over and take out. Made a vegan, flourless chocolate banana loaf that was really yummy. Going to log the recipe to see how the calories were. 😬
3/15: 140.0 (0) This is usually my longer run day. A new reality – rented a citi bike at the trail and rode 8 miles while husband did his run. It was ok. I needed more heart rate increase and maybe a few more miles. It’s a process. I have also increased my calories to slow down my loss as I approach goal weight. Need to see how body adjusts….and then if I get there figure out maintenance.
3/16: 141.0 (+1.0) Most likely not getting enough cardio. And stress. Will try to stick to my eating schedule and maybe go to the gym if its not full of people.😆

Original start weight: 178 lbs (Oct. 10, 2019)
Goal this round: 159.0 lbs
Ultimate goal 135 lbs.
End of round 106 3/07= 160.4 lbs
03/08. 160.2 lbs. 1500 calories. 11,000 steps. Still no mri results would like to know about my back before I go off pills and can start working out.
03/09 160.6 lbs 1375 calories 3500 steps. Back and stomach are still a mess, finished grandson's quilt and started pillowcases instead of walking due to issues. So tired of not feeling well, I am sure you are tired of hearing about it. Ugh!
03/10 160.8 lbs 1075 calories, 15,600 steps MRI showed Moderate neural foraminal narrowing ( narrowing where the nerve comes out through the spine down your legs), some circumferential disc bulging and moderate degenerative endplate change ( DDD or osteoarthritis) in L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1, Doctor said to stay on pills even though they mess up my stomach and come back for PT. I am going to have to take a short break from pills and get my stomach better, it's not sustainable this way currently and now that I know exactly whats wrong I can do PT exercises for that without going to PT twice a week, it's 90 miles of driving each time.
03/11 161.0 lbs 1413 calories, 18,500 steps Back exercises. Went out with friends for supper and this is beer bloat. Off pills, stomach better and back holding its own. IF 14 hours
03/12 162.0 Lbs 1016 calories, 14,600 steps, Back exercises. IF 16 hours
03/13 161.0 lbs 1300 calories, 17,600 steps, Back exercise. IF 16 hours
03/14 160.4 lbs 1500 calories, 15,000 steps, Back exercises IF 16 hours Surprised it is not up, went shopping with a friend and we had a few drinks at her house before I came home.
03/15 160. 4 lbs 1500 calories, 8000 steps. Relaxed took the day off and quilted. I don't get the panic buying but I live on a farm so I have months of my own meat, and canned or frozen vegetables, milk cows, chicken, etc. I buy a lot of my other products in bulk. When I go to town to buy stuff, it's usually junk, like oreos for my son. I have gotten the bad parent look from others many times. LOL I can't perfect American cheese will so I do buy that but I can other cheeses.
03/16 160.4 1500 calories, 5000 steps. Hmmm I thought this was the last day of the round. I really need a reset after this back thing. LOL. At least it's finally feeling better.

3/8 — nw
Here we are, a brand new round. Enjoy your Sunday, all!
3/9 — nw
It’s warmed way up around here so I took a nice longish walk yesterday and plan another this afternoon. I also need to pull some weds from my garden this afternoon — better to get them now! Wishing you all a lovely week!
3/10 - nw
Boy, I hate it when I write a nice post and then hit “done” instead of “post.” Enjoy your day!
3/11 - nw
I indulged a bit yesterday. I’d been craving chocolate cake for more than a week, so I baked a single-layer double chocolate cake and glazed it with dark chocolate. It’s so rich, a tiny bit did the trick! I took half to my neighbor and there’s a piece left for DH. And I’m satisfied!
3/12 - 179
Okay, that’s good.
3/13 - nw
I was a bit mopey yesterday about all the cancellations, including a class I was scheduled to teach next week on “Planting for Pollinators” and a couple of writing classes I have planned for late spring/summer, but this morning I’m feeling perkier and have decided it’s a good time to launch the online classes I’ve thought of teaching for a couple of years. So I’ve started that process and feel much more focused and less snacky. Stay healthy, everyone!
3/14
Hard to believe, but 28 years ago today I married my best friend. It’s been a ride, and he’s loved me through thick and thin and weird eating in between!
3/15 - nw
Quiet day at home today. Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!
3/16 - nw
Not sure I want to weigh in tomorrow.

03/08: 180.4 (Yesterday was such a busy day! I made some banana bread in the morning when I woke up, my hubby and I went grocery shopping, I bought a brand new beautiful couch with electrical recliners and a dining table with chairs, we went to Best Buy to buy the Nintendo Switch, we took my father in law out to dinner since he officially moved to Florida this morning. Very very busy. Today marks the first time my hubby and I will be alone without family. Everyone moved to Florida in the past 6 months and my hubby and I have decided that LA is our home. It’ll be a weird change but a good one.)
03/09: 181.8 (I did a long 70 minute workout yesterday and ate at a deficit. We’ll see how the rest of this week goes!)
03/10: 179.2 (Trust the process! I literally pushed so hard in my Zumba class last night and it paid off! Made a dinner that fit into plan and had a good night of sleep.)
03/11: 178.2 (Happy to see it continuing to go down! I did some weight lifting and spinning yesterday. I’m already below my Friday weigh in weight.)
03/12: 178.0 (I did a very tough hill spinning workout last night that definitely started a waterfall of sweat. It was the toughest thing I’ve done in awhile! I ate to plan and had a relaxing night after the gym since the hubby made dinner.)
03/13: 177.4 (I haven’t seen the 177’s since September 2019! I only have 1.4 pounds to go to make my lowest weight. I’m guessing a combination of not taking steroids anymore and maybe a change in my workout is causing the drops? Who knows. Perseverance pays off!)
03/14: 178.2 (Gained a little from that vegetarian Chipotle burrito I had last night! I’ve been stressing out about buying groceries since the stores have bare shelves in my town. We’ll see how it goes!)
03/15: 179.4 (I took another day off from working out and had my couch and dining table delivered. It’s so nice to get brand new furniture! I also went to the grocery store at 6am and finally got groceries for the next two weeks. I’m grateful I got some essentials.)
03/16: 180.4 (I ate to plan and did a YouTube workout from home. My anxiety has been through the roof and I’m hoping for it to calm soon!)

03/08 186.2 👇 (-0.6)back after a break. A little disheartening that im essentially the same place i left off but hopefully i can get things moving again.
03/09 187.4 👆 (+ 1.2) well thats the wrong direction! Probably normal TOM fluctuation.
03/10 186 👇 (-1.4) I hope this is the beginning of a drop. I've been faithfully working out, eating Keto (slightly lower fat/sodium/cholesterol keto as per a dr) and even watching calories and I seem to be well within range to lose 1.5 lbs per week but it hasn't been budging. So I'm thinking maybe I'm not as consistent as I believe and am hoping this challenge will keep me on track.
03/11 185 👇 (-1.0) ok I know a number on a scale shouldn't affect my mood so much (because it WILL go up and down) but I am PUMPED that things are falling. Had a weigh in at my metabolic dr yesterday and hes concerned I had stalled for awhile. Has started talking about meds (which I would like to avoid if possible). We agreed to give it a month and see where things are going. Thing is that my diet and workouts have been on point for 2/3 weeks and I was hoping to start seeing movement (it usually takes that long for me). So I *think* its begun and I really really want to stick with it this time.
03/12 184.6 👇 (-0.4) 👍👍
03/13 184.6 (0.0) Well no change is better than down!
03/14 183.8 👇 (-0.8) Super excited that I hit round goal already although I got looking at my month of data (I've been pretty on point with diet and exercise for 3 weeks) and exactly one month ago I weighed in at yesterday's weight so... maybe it's all water fluctuation?? I guess the next few days/weeks will tell me.
03/15 DNW
03/16 185 (1.2) An unsurprising bounce. Hopefully will fall again.

Round 107 (Round 1 for me.)
Female, 5' 7"
Age 52
Central Ohio
Background: Had a 40 lb. weight loss (228 lbs to 188 lbs) from June 2014 to June 2015. Added fruit to the low carb plan, hit a long plateau and stopped "dieting" and tracking in March 2016. Fast forward 4 years.. 30 lbs gained back. Ready to get back on track.
Round Starting Weight: 211.0 lbs
Round Goal Weight: 208.0 lbs
Ultimate Goal Weight: 150.0 lbs
Sunday, 3/08: 211.0/ Beginning of Week 2 and down 7 lbs from 217.
Monday, 3/09: 211.8/ Slight gain. Body may be stabilizing after losing too rapidly in the first week. Possibly muscle gain. 🤷
Tuesday, 3/10: 210.8/ Excited to have found a local cafe with a drive thru with healthy food.
Wednesday, 3/11: 211/ Need to step up the water.
Thursday, 3/12: 211/ My weight isn't budging despite hitting steps and calorie goal. Adjusted my round goal weight to losing 3 pounds instead of 5.
Friday, 3/13: 210/ Finally some progress! I've been consistently under my caloric goals and started C25K yesterday. (It kicked my butt.) I may need to repeat days several times before moving up. I think not doing that before is why I've tried and failed so many times.
Saturday, 3/14: 212.6/ Wow! Took the day off yesterday. Short on steps and over on calories and boom, big gain.
Sunday, 3/15: NW/ Feeling down and discouraged. We have been pent up in the house. Took the day off from steps, tracking food and weighing in.
Monday, 3/16: 212/ Back at it. Haven't left house since Saturday. Going to attempt C25K today.
Tuesday, 3/17:

03/08 259.4 That was a lovely number to see this morning, I’m hopeful this is the start of a trend this round. It’s also nearly all of the gain from last round. I knew most of it had to be water.
03/09 257.8 That’s all of the gain from the last two rounds now gone and I’m back to the weight from the end of round 104. I’m still up a few pounds from my last previous low, and I don’t know if I’ll see new lows this round, but it’s possible that I might in a round or two at worst. I’m just so happy to be back on track food wise.
03/10 256.6 I wasn’t expecting the big drops to continue, but I’ll happily take it. I’m not that far from my previous low now and if I get another drop I might even reach it this round.
03/11 257.0 There’s my body going wait I wanted some of that water. It’s okay I’m still very happy with where I am.
03/12 256.2 Tom decided to arrive a week early. On the plus side I was so stir-crazy yesterday that I decided to join my husband on a walk. I had to use my cane, and I didn’t walk quickly, but my knee tolerated it for the most part. I don’t think I’m up for more than one of those in a day yet, but it’s a start and a sign that the knee is healing up nicely. I just need to be careful not to push it too fast.
03/13 255.8 I walked a little more yesterday, okay a lot more yesterday. I might have slightly over pushed, but I am so happy to be moving again because it really got me down to be sedentary over the last couple of weeks. It’s really weird thinking back because I used to hate even walking so much and now I hate just sitting around.
03/14 256.6 Not surprised I had a high calorie, high carb, high activity day. It’s going to be an up and down weekend because I have my mil’s birthday tomorrow.
03/15 255.2 That’s the bounce up plus a little more. I knew that it was just water from the carbs and activity. I’m certain tomorrow will be another bounce up as I’m planning a near maintenance day today so that I can enjoy a little cake and pizza for my mil’s birthday.
03/16 256.2 Pizza and treats, so I should be back down in a day maybe two. It’s okay though there are no more birthdays until August, and we don’t go overboard for the summer holidays so I should be in a good on track stretch.

03/16 164.6 1,041 Calories, 15 Carbs, 12 Net Carbs, and 3,431 steps. Today is a sad day for me. Last day to visit my mom at the nursing home. No visitors until further notice. I have to say and agree it’s one of the best ways to keep her safe. The virus is officially here in our community. To everyone stay safe and be caring citizens to all.
03/17
@carol7878 Oh Carol, I am so sorry. That is so sad. Even though you agree it's the best way to keep her safe, I know that is so hard for you and her. Hopefully, with all the early precautions, the 'curve' as they talk about will flatten out and this will end sooner rather than later. Thinking about everyone during this scary and uncertain time
Thank you and MollyReallyHungry for your kind words and suggestions. My mom has Alzheimer’s and is on Hospice. So it’s very hard to speak to her on the phone only confuses her. She has a great roommate that I’m keeping in touch with and a good staff that reassured me. Thanks for understanding 🙏7 -
69 years old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...
...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Now I'm waiting to get my hip fixed. Hip Doc said surgery in April. Ugh! I can't do any walking or biking...both kill me. I see my personal trainer three times a week. She is taking it very slow and easy with me.
I have March 10th as my hip surgery date...much better than April!

@carol7878 & @IsMollyReallyHungry and all others who can't visit their loved ones due to the dreaded Coronovirus. It is very hard and especially for those vulnerable people who suffer with dementia & do not understand that there is a reason why their loved ones can;t visit them for their own good. Some years ago, the care home that my father was in ( he very recently passed away) had serious cases of winter 'flu and found it necessary to go into "lock down" to eradicate the infection. They did lose a couple of the most vulnerable residents, but did successfully manage the virus. However, my Dad really suffered; he deteriorated during those two weeks due to not having visits from family, he did bounce back a little, but didn't really get back to the pre 'flu condition.
Use technology where you can with the help of the homes to have video 'phone contact, that does help.
Also as others have said on here, keep safe everyone, & keep washing your hands !! But remember this;

Round 107 - March 8 to 17
Female, 5’, 67 years. SW – 165.8, GW – 164 something, UGW – 140.
Goals: continue with 12 hr. IF, see if I can complete my tracking every day and get to the gym 3x a week and not eat back the cals. Getting some exercise the non-gym days would be a great bonus.
Day/Weight/Comment
03/08 – 166.2 Did not count this as my start weight as it seemed like a blip up for no reason – except weighing 1 ½ hrs. earlier thanks to time change and getting up earlier on Sundays.
03/09 – 165.8 Stuck to IF last night but did not chart. Sticking to it tonight as Mondays are usually my downfall.
03/10 – 165 – Despite my resolve had a snack last night but kept it small and a healthy choice. NSV went to bed at a decent hour even though my body still is on old time.
03/11 – 164.8 – Back to the beginning of the last round. Anything below this feels like some progress. IF – 13 hrs. Did not track, need a new battery for my scale.
03/12- 164.8
03/13 – 164.6 – IF – 13 hrs. Did not track, but did get a new battery for my scale. Big push on finishing painting the bedroom as we are getting company next week. Managed not to stress snack in the evening though and got to see my little reward on the scale.
03/14 - 165
03/15 – 163.6 – Haven’t seen this number in awhile. It may be partly due to dehydration but will enjoy it anyway. Had a crazy day yesterday – 4 hrs. driving, a loooong group practice, a little shopping and ran out of tea and water. Did buy some milk-to-go and drank a bunch after I got home. Was fairly careful on what I ate. Someone, bless her soul, brought zucchini squares and cookies to practice. The zucchini squares were like quiche filling (eggs, zucchini, herbs, etc.) baked in a pan and cut. Definitely going to try this idea for travel/snacks. I passed on the cookies. Cold germs that I have been fighting all winter kicked back into gear so am taking a relax day today.
03/16 – 164.2 – There is the hydration back up but still down more than a lb. Coughing away and not feeling too hungry but still not too bad. No Covid-19 in our area of BC yet and the weather is warming up. We are still fine here for groceries. It seems to be the cities that are out of everything. My daughter is right by Calgary, AB, and it’s bizarre there but the small towns still have everything.

03/08 - 361.0 - A surprising little bounce back. Also, I realized my heartrate was too high while I was exercising (cardio vs. fat burn). Now I'm using my TickrFit to live monitor my heartrate.
03/09 - 363.0 - The time change really screwed me up over the weekend. Well... the weekend is over and it's time to get back to it.
03/10 - 362.2 - There we go, but in the right direction again. Sill using the eliptical, but keeping the heartrate between 100 to 112 (70% of my max). Gonna try some kettlebell later.
03/11 - 362.0 - Still going down. I'd like to see sub-360 before the end of this round. This might be my first plateau. I've just gotta persevere.
03/12 - 361.0 - And the beat goes on. Went to the gym (Planet Fitness) this morning and the place was very empty. Coronavirus anyone? I take a wipe in with me to use before I use the eliptical, then use their wipes at the end. When you've got a senior parent (82 y.o. mom) with respiratory problems, you take precautions.
03/13 - 360.4 - I tried the scale @ Planet Fitness this morning just before coming home and using my own. It showed me 2.6 lbs. heavier. The trend down continues. And an interview on Monday, so hopefully...
03/14 - 360.8 - Won't be using that scale @ Planet Fitness in the near future... it's now CLOSED. I packed my gym bag this morning and checked my email just before I left. Email from PF that, per the Governor of PA, all essential businesses are closed for 2+ weeks. I guess I'll be walking outside now. I hope my knees hold up. Of course, I could always blame this on my decision to order a pizza and cheesy bread yesterday. Figures...
03/15 - 359.7 - Another small victory. Under 360. Went to the local school to walk their track like I had been doing from November thru January when my knees began hurting too much. Track is locked. So I walked around the school itself. Only about 2.5 miles for the journey, but I worked up a decent sweat in that 45-50 minutes.
03/16 - 359.3 - Interview went well. Money might not be great, but my long term plan is a state or federal government position. Other than excitement/nervousness limiting sleep, I feel pretty good. Another good 2.5 mile walk this morning. As of noon, I've already hit 10K steps for the day. Also, today was the conclusion of my 6 month DietBet (lose 10% in 6 months). I made it with an extra 1.2 lbs. Winner, winner, chicken dinner (oddly, I am having chicken for dinner).

👍🏼👍🏼 This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE. 👍🏼👍🏼

It seems to be the cities that are out of everything. My daughter is right by Calgary, AB, and it’s bizarre there but the small towns still have everything.

I think it's because the small towns are more community-minded than the cities. When you know the majority of the community personally, it's easier to realise that you should leave resources for others and only take what you need!4
