The positive things going on are the seeds I planted recently are starting to grow and I did learn a new trick. The plastic covering that store bought cakes and some salad take outs are great for starting seeds. They act like mini terrariums. I have a stand up greenhouse that I hope to use in about a week. We had snow on Easter and it is 20 degrees right now so too cold for the mini green house. I hope this changes next week when I transplant my seedlings into larger containers.
My goal is to start a new painting this week too. I plan to do a still life. I want to do it realistically and abstract. This will take me a good six weeks to do.3 -

I would like to avoid reading or watching any news about the pandemic but I don't live alone. Jake reads to me from news he sees on his phone in the morning. The news does nothing to lower my anxiety or improve my efforts to stay safe. There is a lot of research that shows that lowered stress and anxiety contribute to a healthier immune system which is what we all need now.
Katla, I wouldn't shop at Costco if I had to drive as far as you do. Actually I wouldn't shop at Costco at all but Jake is a big fan. We buy fuel for the car there, as well. Now that we've been shopping at Costco for so many years, I've become accustomed to some of the products we buy there and continue to buy them. With the exception of the dog food, I can buy everything else at QFC, some for a slightly higher price. If I were in charge of our household we would do all our shopping at one store, but one of the prices I pay for living with the love of my life and is that I shop at Costco. It's an easy trade-off.
With my decision to limit my shopping to QFC and Costco, I looked for yarn online and found a site that had a huge selection of colors of the yarn I use for knitting hats and blankets. Last week I placed an order for five colors to add to the three I already have. The yarn will arrive tomorrow. Between knitting and pulling weeds, I can be happily busy for months.

Karen- So wonderful of a video this is what I believe happened to that church choir close together singing loudly maybe a cough or throat clear here y there.
Barbara - I wasn’t mad about the neighbors until I heard the babies 👶.As a parent who’s raised biological y nonbio kids I wouldn’t want to do anything to put them at risk ever. These folks could care less brought friends around who were talking about folks (next door heard the conversation) at their jobs having the virus! Then why are you going to a home with tiny toys if you know you may have been exposed! The parents didn’t ask them to go home or try to distance nothing. I took JR inside I didn’t want a risk of wind bringing it near JR over the fence like the shopping isle video.
Soup today easy to make y bulk up. Veggie soup yum yum mainly freeze dried mixed with can veggies but delicious. I’m finding having less veggies y fruit that’s fresh leading me to be very irregular (yes that kind ). Crystal light type lemonade, had to mix them together didn’t have enough on the go packs to make just strawberry lemonade so mixed pink with it. Found 3 on the go powder packs to a gallon water makes enough for the whole family !

Have a nice day ladies!

I woke up angry too, but for no good reason. I dreamed that my ex killed me. So bizarre. Been watching too much violent tv.
I'm planning a trip outside today - the first in ten days. Going to the CVS drive through.
Other than that life is pretty quiet. I can feel the pollen levels, but not too badly.

Heather: What wonderful memories you have! 55 years ago I was still in highschool. I started having adventures when I graduated. My first adventure was a trip to Hawaii with my best friend. We worked and saved for years to afford the trip—a graduation gift from us to ourselves.
Barbara: I use DMSO on my knee. It works beautifully for me. I apply it with a glass dropper and let it soak in. We had a tiny glass dropper bottle with DMSO in it for decades but that bottle was nearly empty so DH bought more on Amazon. If you decide to try it, be sure you get the pharmaceutical grade (medical quality) and that it is in a glass bottle, not a plastic container. DMSO is a solvent that can soak up all sorts of things but glass protects its purity. My dropper is also glass. DMSO can carry other chemicals into your body if you get the industrial version.
Lisa: Good news about the grantor being willing to include operational funding. He deserves a gold medal. :flowerforyou:
Margaret: I wear my mask whenever I go to a store or business. Many shoppers go without masks at the grocery stores. I don’t wear mine at home. If I walk the dog in our neighborhood, I have the mask with me and wear it as needed if other people are nearby.
Rebecca: I love your hair color and cut. You are lovely.
We have a beautiful sunshiney morning today. I plan to walk the dog in the neighborhood and ride my terra-tryke in the garage to burn calories.

Tuesday
Accidentally slept in about 30 extra minutes, but that's OK, I'm still on holiday! We were supposed to be in northern Tasmania this long, long, long weekend, but of course, that's out. Oh well, I don't mind being home.
Did some more house stuff. The place is clean, laundry is put away ...
Then I set about working on some stuff for my cycling club and later in the evening had a long zoom meeting with the national committee. Some are very enthusiastic about catching up on a lot of paper work that has needed to be done for a while and want us all to get in there working on it, but I am actually a bit busy. Fortunately at this point, I'm not too involved and the ones who are enthusiastic and have the time are the ones involved.
But I am trying to arrange a meeting of my state cycling organisation. I've done what I can today and will have to pick it up again next Tuesday.
We got out for a bicycle ride this afternoon - 15.6 km. It was nice ... lots of people out walking, running and cycling. Waving and saying "hi". All very social but at a wide distance. I'm glad to see the increased numbers, both where we cycle and in our own street, who are out walking, running and cycling. I think it's great!! And I hope it continues long after this is all over!
A couple photos from where we cycled today.
Rhody is continuing to amuse us. Today he met the girl cat next door, Jasmine ... but with a pane of glass between them. Her first reaction to him was to scream and hiss, but they were both fascinated with each other and by the end of the day, when we came home from the bicycle ride, she was lying in the path and he was in the window and they were quietly looking at each other. She left soon after that, probably for dinner, and he wanted dinner too ... but he kept going back into the window to have a look.
Jasmine is a large fluffy cat ... she's almost twice his size! He's a sleek little boy, and he is only 7 months old.
The tide has been up and there has been a decent swell, so the waves on the beach and cliffs below have been very noisy ... especially in the evenings. Or at least that's when I notice them.
So I've had the rhythmic crash of the waves on shore the last two evenings, and a few minutes of a purring cat.

I feel like I’m sinking into my depression again. Trying hard not too. Eating too much junk food. Off full keto, emotional eating. Went from 146 to 154 in weight. All not good. Drinking again also not helping.
No sun today so that doesn’t help, but gonna do some wash and tend my container gardens. Might help some. Swiss chard needs picking too. I’ll post pick of those in tub in a bit.

Hello Everyone, I'm new to the group and getting reintroduced to myfitnesspal. I want to lose weight, but my ultimate goal is develop healthy eating and fitness habits to keep it off. Simply, a lifestyle change is the ultimate goal. I'm a 2+ year breast cancer survivor and I want many more years cancer free.
I look forward learning tips from everyone.9 -
Rita sorry to hear that. Depression is tough. Do you have meds or counseling? A lot of rules are looser now, you might be able to get a prescription after a phone call to your doctor instead of a visit. Likewise counseling is now by phone or online. Take care of yourself like you would with any illness.

Sheilawhite4 ... Welcome!
News ... my husband has the news on as background noise and this is one of the cases where I can be thankful for hearing loss!
Big day today ... grocery order delivered. The high prices are killing us. Delivery is not cheap. I will not go into public, however, unless absolutely necessary or when my disabled son is able to safely return to his group home. We're housebound for at least another two weeks. We'll see what May brings. Sigh.

Our Zoom was quite funny as I couldn't get on to it at first. My friend had to ring me and then resend the invitation by email. Eventually I got on there, but I couldn't get to a divided screen, just saw one person at a time. Each time someone spoke it switched to them, so it actually worked quite well for me. We chatted for an hour.
Lovely to see their faces. We have another meeting scheduled for the 22nd.
Will send you a pic of my kettle from my phone.

Penny - YES. I would apply to you as a funder in a heartbeat! One of my favorite sites (https://nonprofitaf.com/) calls the grant writer's holy grail "MYGOD" Multi-Year General Operating Dollars . One of the funnier nonprofit-oriented sites I've ever found. He seems to be a really good guy. I have hopes that something good may come out of this whole mess, with the foundations loosening up their purse strings - and if the economy survives in reasonable shape, they might. If we do fade into a recession, my job will instantly be like pulling chicken's teeth... I do know that people need the basics first, food, shelter, employment--but Girl Scouts is the "then what" that comes after.

I am totally with you about the media citing misleading statistics when reporting how many are affected by the virus.
Also, disheartened by this video about the Bad Fairy Corona Dust emanating from infected people's mouths and noses whether sneezing or not: https://player.vimeo.com/video/402577241I was spitting mad yesterday about George Stephanopolus. "Oh, look at me. No symptoms, but I got a test
-- and probably results in 24 hours -- and look, I tested positive. But I feel great!!" Well bully for you, buddy. Shut up about it! Stop gloating. Did you have to wait in line for a test, for hours? Did you have to line up at midnight to secure your place in line? Did you have to wait 10 days to get the results of your "no symptom" test? I get it. His wife has the virus. But none of the rest of us would get a test because of that. We would just be told, perhaps rightly because of the shortage of tests, to act as if we have it, stay home, and stay safe. (I am getting sick of hearing that, too.) My son is a socialist (not a democratic socialist), and in this he and I agree. The class system in this country is absolutely making me livid.
So pseudo celebrities who can get a test for no good reason, when we have people dying in their homes because they are afraid to go to the hospital -- or better -- go to the hospital, and are sent home because they aren't sick enough, just shut up about it. I don't want to hear about it anymore. Get your test. Then be quiet. Don't rub it in our faces. OMG I am so mad. Pink addressed it, but even that angered me. "Oh, you should be angry, but don't be angry with me. It's not my fault." Well, it sure is. Not completely; but you share in the fault. You agreed to be tested and get results quickly, when you know the rest of us peons either can't get a test or have to wait 7-10 days to get results. Check your privilege, girl.
I was so mad last night. I put a glass in a bag, went outside, and smashed it twice -- once on the ground and once against the garbage can. I did feel better. But I am furious.
And I'm mad at myself that I believed the president when he said we could get a test if we wanted it. That drive in testing would be across the country, in the parking lots of Walmart, Walgreens, RiteAid, where ever -- remember those executives he paraded out, and applauded for their generosity in donating spaces in their parking lots. That makes me cry now, literally. That I believed that.
I want this to just be over.

On other news --
My 13 year old is finally in online school. He has five hours on Tuesday and Thursdays, for 10 weeks, I think. He is excited to be doing something after four weeks off.
I am thankful that hubby and I are able to keep working. My heart hurts for those who have lost their jobs -- 15 at my institution, alone. We are trying to plan for the fall, but it is nearly impossible since no one knows what the world will look like by then.
Sunny today. I am happy for that, but I woke up not feeling well. Overslept by two hours, which is not like me. Low-grade fever. Headache. Sore throat. Just feeling off. I am still in my pjs and working from bed. I was going to go into the office today, but I decided driving was not a good idea in this condition. I am hoping it passes quickly.
Hubby and I are watching Schitt$ Creek. One 30 minute episode an evening has been good therapy.
As for news, I allow myself to read CNN online -- mostly just headlines -- The Chronicle of Higher Education --because it puts the virus in context for my work -- I try to watch Rachel every evening because I love her indepth story telling, although she is a ranter -- I check into Fox every few days just to get inside their bubble a little, for a reality check. But often during the day my mom or husband will say/type "Did you hear . . ." And I just say no. I'm not reading the news right now. I can't maintain it as a steady diet. I get too angry -- and you can read my rant/rage to see that you wouldn't like it if I get angry -- to quote the Hulk.
Much love to all.
