WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR APRIL 2020

No exercise today. I thought if I got to WalMart early, there wouldn’t be that many people there. Well, there were 7 people ahead of me. Didn’t exercise since I went shopping. With Jess and Colby here, we need more milk. And I got a few other things, too. The plan for tomorrow is to do Jari Love’s extremely Ripped Boot Camp DVD
Kim – that‘s the way I shop. I add things to my grocery list when I use the last one of something or if I need it for a recipe. I would have expected the sugar to be with the flour and spices, too. That’s where it usually is around here
At WM this morning I noticed that they had TP. Not that we needed any, tho
You know, on my way out of WM I started taking one of their disinfecting wipes and after my shopping trip wiping my hands again and even using these wipes to cover the nozzle if I’m buying gas after shopping. Now that they have it where you can only go in one direction and out the other I can’t get to the wipes unless I walk around. It’s really not a big deal, but I just find it interesting that they are making it harder to get the wipes as you are leaving. Well, I guess not many people use wipes when they leave, mainly when they come into the store.
Rebecca – oh, love, love, love those pics. Keep them coming!!!!
Saw one of the ladies from my water aerobics class. She misses it, too, so I told her as soon as our pool is open, she’s welcome to come on over
Bananas – don’t you just hate it when stores change where they put things???? Especially now, I would think that would be very irresponsible, making people walk all over the store to find something
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind Colby being here, not one bit. But he asked me if we had a folding table then he said he was thinking of working somewhere out of the way. I showed him where the card table was, told him that working downstairs was probably out of the way since people don’t go down there a whole lot. Finally (because I know he can be sensitive sometimes) I told him not to take what I’m about to say wrong, but what were his plans? The reason I ask is because I want to be sure we have enough for dinner, etc. Well, he said that he doesn’t see him staying longer than a week. Ouch! You know what that means? Higher food bills. Oh well….. Looks like Sams Club here I come. We were going to have salmon cakes tonight so I’m going to make more. Better ask him if there’s anything that he can’t have or doesn’t like. Just so I know. There never has been in the past, but I’d rather give him the option. I had a bag all made up of things for him to take home, now it looks like I should put those things into the freezer if I can so that we have enough.

I have a dog sleeping on my lap under a blanket and Homer sleeping snuggled up in a blanket on the bed..8

This is later in the evening as you can see they parked both sides of the street this was when they were at only 10cars (10 had finally left) still have 2 cars out there guess that was the ones who couldn’t drive home. Now look top right of the picture with the brown dark brown garage that’s the hone with elderly COVID-19 patients our Fire-department comes out to test them. The 20 car party house was that close to it! Do they not see that?? I do!
Today bleach a bathroom y lower JR areas. Laundry 🧺. Will have soup 🍜 for lunch. Unknown dinner might be soup again. Same exercise routine as usual. Netflix

"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: wow has it really been since Wednesday? We did take the dogs to the vet, walked to the mailbox twice, typed Good Friday and Easter hymns for Lori, tried to light Aunt Elsie’s oven’s pilot light, watched Immanuel and St. Tim’s Maundy Thursday, Bethany’s Good Friday and Easter services, sent zoom invites to expanded list and zoom danced Friday after church, Farmers’ market Saturday, vacuumed long enough (40 minutes) to run out of battery, laptop into shop and back, danced with 3 others at the basketball courts for 20 minutes.Coping Calendar Day 19: do 3 acts of kindness to others no matter how small
Bonus: more veg prep, did one load of laundry.
Get to do: BB&B, invest 10 mins cleaning Master Bath, carry over cleaning Guest Bth, dig up snow pea bed for potatoes, start weeding flower bed, call Lee, bake cookies for Joe, call Carolyn, call appliance repair about unbalanced washing machine and antique oven’s pilot light, depending on prognosis finish cleaning and start de-rusting Aunt Elsie’s stove, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine.
Reward: inventory seeds, plan garden, order replenishments.Let the big truck go through narrow road first, brought Barb hot cross buns, delivered her gluten free cookies to Tracie. Whew!Pip
Lanette what you said about wearing mask, fogging glasses, hard to breathe through, sounds like me line dancing with/apart from 3 friends at a neighborhood basketball court. A real struggle. Any tips? As for intro/extra vert, I’m a little schizo. Really miss my hugs from huggy gals, exercise and line dance classes… but always have to recover quietly by myself the rest of the day after any meeting with more than one other.
Sharon intrigued by your dream tornado barricade. Will have to think deeply about what my recurring nightmares represent or at least what defenses I can construct.
Barbie Fiskars trimmed bangs, you rock!
Michele so relieved you were able to pick Vince up at hospital. What a scary and frustrating time! SMH at the Y’s irresponsibility.
Rita your tamarisks are way prettier than our gorse, also invasive and tremendously flammable. A nearby town even has an annual festival to raise gorse awareness Does the tamarisk have a scent?
Rori how I wish I could stroll past your catio and (from a socially acceptable distance) visit with you and Mars.
Luci re: break-ins “… only two when I was home” OMG in addition to your protection, I’d invest in a security system and a BIG dog… or move to somewhere with lower crime.
Amber really enjoyed the Hedger Humor funnies, thanks!
Machka your Canadian hospitals example was clear and compelling. You have a gift for making complex technical issues understood. Thank you.
Evelyn your “dead bird” story reminded me of the time I persuaded my friend’s huge Persian to give up his mouse/prize into my hand… it was so terrified it kept completely still until I held it just above some ivy. It looked around, leapt and was gone.
Karen thanks for Leroy the Rednecked Reindeer that was new to me. Sad to hear about Joe Diffie,”If the devil danced in empty pockets” was one of my favorite line dances back in Idaho. As for the Camden Choir’s True Colors, it gave me chills.
SuziQ what you said about the homeless and reminder of there but for the grace… our city council has just passed a resolution that lets churches allow folk to shelter in their cars in the church’s parking lots, subject to certain restrictions. Funding for portapotties is in progress. “Up on the roof” pic hahahaha
Belated welcome @pattimac2020 Patti in upstate NY. Wonder if you’re near Beth?
Katla glad you heard from your son, sad for his MIL’s suffering.
Heather Love the pic of face painted DDIL especially her smile. Can you not have some bubbly despite not being “on deck”?
Belated welcome @hippymamax12.
Carol beautiful GD in lovely Easter dress.
Margaret “DH has no idea how upset this makes me” perhaps you could lovingly explain how disappointed/angry you were when he chose not to do as he promised, and how hurt you are when he is so hard on you? Hoping you can both find it in your hearts to give each other a little more grace, especially during these trying times. Maybe he needs a secret word or sign to try to be more kind when he’s acting like a jerk.
Annie :brokenheart: for the situation with your daughter and your ex.
Tracey I too giggled at the satellite dish and Canada flag over the beaver’s lodge.
Only thru pg 41 but have been sitting way too long. Time to shower, dress to shoes and go outside to pull weeds.
Lighter, lovelies!

Rebecca ... love the photos of Athena!
Kylia ... very sorry to hear about your MIL .. will be praying for you all.
It's a gray and dreary day here. Doing laundry and trying to sort through paperwork. Waiting on Instacart shoppers to begin an order for my elderly friends. Need to be close to the computer when they start shopping as they always need to make substitutions. We've been waiting a week to complete this order for them and I understand they're getting low on food. My own order should go through tomorrow and it's been over 2 weeks so we are definitely in need of some basics like milk and butter.
Had the Zoom call with my family. Got to see everyone in their various forms of dysfunction. Parents figured out how to get the video function working on a kindle but couldn't figure out the audio. They held a phone to their ear. It was bittersweet to see everyone. My dad (91... was recently hospitalized for bowel obstruction and now home) did not look well. He is becoming very frail ... not regaining his strength. And he was as grumpy as all get out!! My mother is a saint ... just sayin'.
We ate way too much sugar/carbs yesterday. Sleep wasn't that great as a result. But today is Monday ... a reset day! Focusing on healthy choices tonight when I open my eating window. A spinach salad is sounding particularly appealing and I have hardboiled eggs that will go nicely with it.

I continue to be grateful that we have a steady income. It allows us to purchase what we need. I have chosen to buy all groceries, etc. at one store even if the cost might be less at another store. The only reason I can't stay with only one store is that we have bought Costco brand dog food for our dogs for years and I don't want to force them into new food. This morning Jake suggested that we start buying a grocery store brand and we agreed that after my trip to Costco this week, if the shelter at home is still going on in the two months it takes to use up the dog food, we'll switch them to a grocery brand so I can limit my shopping to only one store and only every three to four weeks.
I just finished a fun dancing session. I am reteaching myself a great dance from years ago and dancing several favorites several times each---day class "my way".

Just saw this Dont see how this could even be a legal fair decision? Can they do this to any essential workers male/female who’s a single parent? A 4yr old Daughter taken from a Woman Doctor 👩⚕️ . The nurses lots are single parents too that I’ve seen on the news. https://youtu.be/_T7MGWWVVC8

Smokey is having a hard time realizing it is Monday and mom cannot take an afternoon nap with him. He's giving me a kitty hug in an attempt to get me moving away from the computer.

Barbie - Why can’t you order the dog food from Costco and have it delivered to the house? Then you don’t have to go and the kids don’t have to change food.

I don't have a problem with this and wonder why the Doctor does. It would only make sense that her child will be shielded from the virus in a home ... with her dad btw ... that is not exposed daily to the virus. And the statement from the attorneys read that the doctor/mom will get make up time when the situation settles down. Does it set precedent? Yes it does.

I read this and thought maybe I could be adventurous and try something new. Unfortunately my Costco has 12 kinds of dry dog food that I can order for delivery, but not the canned food I need.4 -
Rita: I like the looks of your knitted mask. :flowerforyou:
Michele: I let DH run the finances. I don’t use my computer for any bill paying or banking. :noway:
Barbie: We were Costco shoppers for many years, but there was a big road project between us and Costco a couple of years ago that made getting there a nightmare. The distance is about 30 miles each way and much farther during the road work. We got out of the habit of going to Costco. :ohwell:
Rebecca: I love blue and white pottery, and the vases are gorgeous. :flowerforyou:
Yesterday I got to talk with both of my adult kids in separate phone calls and also my granddaughter. It was so nice to be in touch with them. There was an Easter parade in DD’s town and they all went and enjoyed it. I doubt they had masks on, or worried about social distancing but I don’t know for sure. DS & family was traveling home after visiting DDIL's mom.
Today I did my grocery shopping at Safeway and Walmart. I was able to get almost everything I wanted at Safeway except my favorite Kind Bars. I had to go to Walmart to get them and bought some yarn while I was there. I’ve been knitting cotton dish cloths and enjoying the process. This cotton yarn will keep my hands busy and out of the snacks.

I bought canned dog food from Amazon. They had my brand.3

Denise said that she’d call today to let us know of a good time to Skype. I bet any amount of money she doesn’t call. The reason she was going to call today and not yesterday? Pete would be home. She did call EARLY yesterday, didn’t even speak to Vince because he was sleeping. <cry, missing PJ>
Barbie – can’t you pick out online what you would like? I know that’s what you do at WalMart.

Bwcete- She’s lucky he a good Dad not an abuser. Other single parents may not have a good ex but instead an exabuser. They decide for one theirs a danger they will for All. My question is what job does the Dad have? They never said is he an essential worker also like her?( which is same risk) Or out of a job like many? Is his home more safe sounded like she was going above y beyond to sanitize with no visitors , but is he sanitizing y not having visitors? Sure that’s her concern, hopefully it’s a good safe environment. We assume the father is but only she would know for sure.

Rebecca those are my dream vases! I want that pattern on an old decorative wash bowl too.1 -

I looked, and Amazon had my brand....$21.99 at Costco, about $84.00 from Amazon---'nuff said.
For me, it has been an academic exercise to see how few shopping trips I can make. My last trip to Costco was March 13 and it has been 10 days since I went to the one grocery store I go to. I am more interested in doing my own shopping and not having strangers come to my house. With good planning, I can cut the shopping trips down to once every three weeks or possibly even less frequently.6 -
Katla, our Costco is only a few miles away, closer than either in town grocery store. It's new and big and doesn't have the crowding problem that stores in more metropolitan areas have. For me, it's the challenge of cutting shopping trips down to as few as possible.4
