Bananas - nobody is meant to be sitting around on the seafront, so I guess the beach huts are shut up. They are discouraging sunbathing etc. Keep moving, or go home! And if you are not a local, go home!
We went out for my 5k today, but we kept away from the seafront and just ran down the main road , through a park I have never seen before and down some side streets. Then back again. It was HOT! There is no traffic, just a few empty buses going past. Streets deserted except for one or two kids on bikes. A few people in the park. I was pleased that I had got out and boosted my exercise calories. 950 total today.
DS sent a video of the kids opening their present from us - a light up globe that shows stars at night. Bea said it was "The best Easter ever!"
It would probably have been a formal night tonight on the cruise, but I'm not dressing up. Having Hairy Bikers, broccoli and a bottle of red. Bananas, we always have cocktail hour.
Glorious weather here, but it's set to change tomorrow and get much colder. Norway will be cold, windy, snowy and rainy. We were set to go on a trip to a pretty fishing village. Brrrr!

Morning Ladies
Watching TV with Alfie..
One of my dear friends just had to send her mom to the hospital. And she and her twin sister cant go..she is beside herself because she doesnt think her mom will be making it out.. I am praying hard.. Steffy had a stroke in her 50s and her daughter's have taken care of her since she could live on her own they live in a 3 family in Massachusetts..
So I'm keeping her in my thoughts..
This social isolation is getting a bit batty .but I will make it through..
Happy Easter and Passover to those who celebrate .. love ya all ladies xoxo9 -
@Machka you have warmer weather to be in shorts all year round! plus in a couple motivates one to get rid of body hair more often. (well it depends on the guy actually, sometimes). Dryers aren't that common here either.
@Margaretturk that's upsetting that he can't be tested for COVID19 after 2 trips to hospital and even more so that he's shopping with no mask (or cloth in front of face). i just read an upsetting article in nytimes (free) about a medic who says he dealt with a dozen COVID deaths in a day in nyc and none of them are even counted in the official count since the people were never tested.
this is also the case in France. Many Covid19 deaths are not counted in the tally. the final tally will be to compare the amount of deaths in a given month to an average for that month the past few years in a place.
people who don't get how serious it is now will get it eventually. probably pretty soon.
@Heather, ha ha for always cocktail hour. Jimmy kimmel suggested formal friday for folks but i couldn' be bothered. still i'd try to have a theme based cocktail or music or something to play w cruise. that said i'm not in a couple so i'm not doing that. easy to say!
I went out for my walk. i saw dark-ish (but not very dark) cloud in distance so i checked the weather and it said warm and sunny all day. less than 5 min after leaving home in light shirt (i've been over dressing these past warm days) it started to thunder then sprinkle, then rain.
after having got caught in 2 frightening thunderstorms during a 2-week hike about 3 years ago i dislike being out in thunderstorms. but it's such a bother to go in and out that i decided i would risk it and fortunately i did not get hit (it was not very loud and scary). it did rain though and most of my walk was in light to medium rain and light to medium gusty wind.
this meant much less people out - a good thing at present. but the gusty swirly wind made it so i didn't feel yet like taking off my mask out in the empty streets, the gusts could swirl up as well as down. and the little streets were TOO empty. i went back to the travelled streets. a person i know said she witnessed a woman getting mugged at end of day still in daylight (8pm, here people have dinner at 8 and sun sets around 8:30 or 9 pm) a few days ago. my neighborhood is very safe overall, but it's not a normal period. less people is risky and some people must be desperate for money, their usual sources drying up.
i bought a chocolate thing for easter but then realized the baker didn't have a mask and i felt uneasy.
i had some organic lemon sorbet at home: water, 27% lemon purée, sugar, glucose. granted that's a lot of sugar, but no gluten and no cream and lots of vitamin C for the occasional dessert.
Going out ALWAYS makes me feel tired afterwards now. i think it's psychological. the fear, the mask, the sanitizer, the distance, the shower and hair-washing once back home...
Fearful....
today with the shower it was less relaxing than usual.
i definitely prefer morning walks.
Happy Passover, Easter, and other holiday or Spring

On the hair debate - I don't do anything to down there, never have. If I am going to be wearing a swimming costume I snip the side bits that might stick out. Doesn't it itch? Or get a rash? I think DH likes me hairy. Nobody has ever complained!
For years in the 70s-80s I didn't remove underarm hair. Women's Lib. Some men like that too. However I have never been comfortable with letting my leg hair grow. I did try, but it made me miserable. I bought a 'ripper outer' and the consequence is that I have no hair on my legs at all now.
I am very easy maintenance. Do my own hair dye, do my own eyebrows, nails, toenails. I just need someone to trim three quarters of an inch off my hair every 10 weeks or so. No blow dry.

Hospital underwear 🩲 theory- Yeah placental abruption everything was cut off or blood soak rotting in a bag so tossed it in the biohazard ☣️ bin. Doctor laughed at that nurse shocked, well who going to wash them? Why would I want that stinky shoes 👟 for a week in my room? I left the hospital hubby y MIL shielding me y yelling in Spanish at anyone who tried to look my way as I left in red fall caution socks y a hospital gown buns for the world to see y those period panties see through useless for hiding anything baby screaming in my arms boobs leaking. So yeah the clean 🧼 underwear idea useless. Plus Docs don’t care just as long as you bathe regularly.

It's the same here.
We can go to our local beaches ... those within our council area ... for exercise like walking or running, but that's it.
We have sat on a bench for a few minutes and no one has said anything. If someone did, I'd explain my husband's injury and that we need to take a short break before heading back.
The playground at our closest beach is closed. 2 of the 4 toilets are closed.
And only 2 people together. Unless it's a family group of family members who live together.
Police drive up and down and we saw a helicopter patrolling the other day.

I'm hot ... because of constant hotflashes. On and on throughout the day. I lose count of how many I have.
The weather isn't particularly warm. We're heading into winter now so it's cooling off but I've still got a tank top and shorts at hand in case I go through a particularly hot, tingly, nauseating set of the things. And a sweat jacket for the 5 minutes after when I'm freezing.
I've also got a small USB fan which is on and off and on and off all day long.
It's so annoying but there isn't much I can do right now.

Not if you do the hot shower, shampoo and condition steps I mentioned. I use a zinc-based shampoo like I do after a very long bicycle ride, rinse well, then put the conditioner everywhere from about knees up. Leave it for a bit and rinse well again.
During the shampoo cycle, I'm lathery shampoo suds from head to toe.1 -
Apple cake made and delivered to neighbors. Strange baking in my house with gloves and facemask. Kept the mini ones.....delivered the rest. The cake was so good there was no need for icing. I was planning on making caramel butter one, but it would have been overkill.

Fabulous cakes SuziQ!
We are singing along with my singing teacher! MY HEART WILL GO ON and THE STREET WHERE YOU LIVE. Now SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW etc. Etc. Wonderful! Go Jason! I BELIEVE now. THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM.
The thing I most miss about the cruise is the dancing. I would have been line dancing at 9 this morning. And soon to start ballroom dancing before and after dinner. We always had a ballroom lesson after lunch on sea days.

Hubs and I delivered Easter sacks (I was too cheap to buy baskets) to our 5 neighbors we congregate with the most. Normally we have a Spring Fling party on Palm Sunday and of course couldn't do that this year. So, I put together bags with dog snacks (for the four with pups), bunny ears, toy stuffed plastic eggs (little kids toys, but fun nonetheless), purchased pralines and purchased cookies. We left them in their garages for them to find, only one friend caught us....they were out for a walk but we left them anyway. They were going to figure out they were from us anyway .
Happy Easter to those who celebrate!

M in OZ: Peanuts are not my friends. If I eat them I get gassy. Not pleasant. Peanut butter is also troublesome. Milk used to be an enemy until they came out with lactose free milk. I’ve never had trouble with cottage cheese or cheddar cheese, two good dietary friends. I’m glad that working from home is reducing your sinus congestion. I’ve never been a fan of recirculated air. I think it spreads disease. Fortunately during my teaching years the rooms often had openable windows. During pollen season we usually left them closed up tight. I’m sorry to hear that hospitals in your area have had to close due to the virus. :ohwell:
SuziQ: I love your gratitudes!
Terri: I love the animated Easter cartoons.
Barbara: I bought bean seeds but the soil is still a bit too cold to plant them. I have plenty of work to do to clean up the section of flower bed where they will grow. Last year I planted beans in early May. I plant Royalty Purple Pod bush beans. They grow well here and are productive. I love the purple color, which makes them easier to see at picking time. When they’re cooked the purple disappears. I don’t have a soil thermometer so I plant when it seems right. Regarding bears-- I have distant cousins in northern California who go bear hunting every year. They like bear meat from young bears. I’ve been told that the meat is somewhat like pork. :flowerforyou:
Allie: I have not felt isolated during this time. I am very lucky and feel blessed. This group is one of those blessings. I live with DH and our old dog, who is a great companion. We have near neighbors who we chat with outside on nice days, making sure to keep a good distance apart. We get facetime calls from our adult children who live far away. I’ve gone to the grocery stores regularly and always wear a mask and gloves when I do. DH does not go shopping but he will go for a walk to the park at the end of our road. I have a much more robust immune system than he does. He has had diabetes and MS for many years and is good at managing both diseases. I have some food intolerances but nothing serious.
Machka: Hot flashes are unpleasant but they lead to menopause and I’ve been very happy since I have been through “the change.” No cramps, no bloating, no sanitary napkins… It is all good. :flowerforyou:
SuziQ: The apple cakes look wonderful.
Have a great day, friends. I am practicing some gratitudes that are helpful for my happiness—
I’m grateful for phone calls from my adult children, I’m grateful for DH and the dog, for good neighbors and a neighborhood that I can walk in safely. I am grateful for my good health. I am also grateful for this group of wonderful women.
Have a good day.

Neighbors got friends driving up barbecue going lots of congregating on their patio side by side. No wonder In my city the virus 🦠 keeps spreading ! Might as well call the quarantine off they’ll spread to everyone by morning! It’s so noisy outside it’s unreal just cause it’s Easter doesn’t mean a free ticket 🎫 to stop doing the measures put in place to save everyone we can! Yesterday quiet 🤫 today sounds like the schools open with a carnival 🎡
Agrivating just agrivating.

Venting this is frustrating so many kids being exposed I can hear babies even next door as cars drive up with their friends (not even family) coming for food. No masks no nothing just beer 🍺 y food. There not the only ones can hear homes all over the area! We have over 20+ cases just in my zip code! One home on the street behind us y one up on our road a few house down has coronavirus that hasn’t woken these nuts up!
Update: Lol older neighbor called the cops 🚓 on a few lol they all went home. Some got in cars left probably to try at a different home3 -

My dad is just figuring out that the stay at home order means him too. He wanted to go clean up some natural debris at church. He would have a tough time convincing anybody that that is essential. He has been out there putting flowers on graves. Now he is digging dandelions in our yard. He means well but he is at risk.
Very little news here. Planning on an outing tomorrow for groceries and a prescription. Thankful that our family and friends are doing well so far. Trying to make peace between my knee and the ministepper.
Good health to you all,

Afternoon ladies
Alfie and I took a 4 mile walk on a trail here and town and it was lovely..Steffy broke her hip so here is hoping they get her fixed up and home..
Barbara was taken out by ambulance last night.. they should have never sent a 92 yr old woman home from the nursing home with symptoms of the virus and send her home to a condo complex full of people.. very frustrating..

To those who celebrate ... Happy Easter and Happy Passover!
KarenVA ... thinking of you. Stay safe!!
Amber ... visiting during this holiday is sure to ramp up the number of those infected...
Michele ... Someone who says they're 2 hours from NYC does not live near me. Buffalo, NY is near Lake Erie. Upstate New York is a loosely used term ... the correct designation for my area would be Western New York but it's easy to get it all confused and Western New Yorkers sometimes say they're "upstate."
Rita ... beautiful photos.
Grateful for ... my washing machine and dishwasher. They've been in use non-stop since my sons have come home.
Someone got into the Baklava last night... honestly I'm ready to kick these guys to the curb.
This morning I made an easy cheese danish for the guys (uses crescent rolls). They've had leftovers from the past few days for lunch. Dinner will be a ham, hash brown potato casserole and shaved brussel sprouts with bacon (in lieu of pancetta).
We watched our Pastor present a beautiful Easter service on Facebook...with singing! He has a beautiful voice and knows all the old hymns. I was a little down this morning and the service was just what I needed.
In just a little bit, we're going to Zoom with the family. We'll see how that goes as my parents were having a hard time figuring out the camera portion of their computers.

Amber- I would definitely have called the police. But then I am older. Unbelievable behaviour. Grrrrr!
Our electric kettle gave up the ghost late this afternoon. It was a very cheap one. DH said, get a better one, so I've ordered a Dualit from Amazon. For these British tea addicts an electric kettle is a necessity. We even have special planned hydropower arrangements for the surges in kettle needs at times of national need, like the FA cup final half time! They keep the water ready and let it out a minute before the break. Press that button!
For the time being I've found our old travel kettle that we used to take to France because they don't have tea stations in the hotel rooms. Criminal! We took our own and our own teabags.

Beth- They just came back double the cars counted 20 cars at 1 house!! So yup it will go up. Folks were cooperating but holidays everyone is Meme me meeeeeee attitudes.
Rebecca- They actually are recommending to write items you want y isles even check availability before going to cut time in half well so you know oh their out of grape juice 🧃 guess apple juice it is! That way your not searching an hour in one isle for something that’s been bought up. Lol here the managers make you move if you linger.

1.53million people in my city 🌃 they aren’t taking the threat serious today! Our over 700+ cases will triple in a few weeks time let this incubate then bam numbers will rise all because of today.2 -
