Round 112
Please join us! Starting on 04/27 JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS, we will begin Round 112
Anyone can join us at anytime during the round.
Join us! If we stay mindful we can do this, you can do this.
Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.

👍🏼👍🏼 This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE. 👍🏼👍🏼7 -
Hi There!! I'm Tisha...about 3.5 years ago I started with MFP to get some weight off, 45 kind of hit me hard. One of the tools I used at that time was this here "give me 10 days" thread which I started posting on in probably round 2 or 3, it really helped. I lost 40 lbs and was probably in the best shape I've ever been in...and then life hit the fan (Dad got sick, knee injury, a few other life changes) and over the last 2 years I've managed to put back on 38 of the 40lbs I lost. Yesterday I woke up and said to myself enough is enough, you did this once before you can do it again, and I logged back into MFP!! This morning I checked to see if this thread was still active and low and behold all of you daily loggers are keeping it going!! So I'm back!!!

04/27: 140 (+.4) Lol. Burned 850 calories doing a 3 hour bike ride and I gain weight? Maybe just working through the 3 liters of water and electrolytes I drank. Had pasta for dinner and some margaritas but don’t think it was over calories. The body is truly just a chemical reaction.
04/28 (138.8 (-.2) Got a nice walk in yesterday. – rest day from the bike. Added some core and strength.
04/29 (138.6) (-.2) Ate ok yesterday and did a nice ride.

Day/Weight/Comment
4/27 - DNW
4/28 - 57 kg - eating habit was out of control, lots of cookies, junk food, and extra carb heavy meals with bigger portions. Need to get on my routine when I used to work outside of home.
4/29 - 56.6 kg - ate properly through the day but slipped around tea time and late night and ate junk food. Need to find healthier ways to curb these cravings. I craved salty in the day and sweet in the night. Log food ritually.

04/28 198 I felt just weak. Not sure but I might have my calories to low. I set them at 1547 because I’m not doing much as far as exercise. When I was lifting I did 1800. I slept for about 4 hours in the afternoon. Maybe just a bad day. Hope I’m not getting sick
04/29 196 WOW. I was surprised to see this. Especially since we ate out yesterday and I went a little over my Calories. I always try to weigh first thing in the am. I stepped off and on probably 5 times. Here’s hoping I feel better today. Yesterday I felt weird, tired.

I mentioned in a previous post that the girls and I are meal prepping and trading to mix it up. Well, this morning I made mine. Chicken teriyaki stir fry. Recipe had me make my own teriyaki sauce and I'm not the most confident in the kitchen so here's to it tasting as good as it looks (I'm impressed with how pretty it is!). One of the girls who lives out in the country is making a trip to town so myself and 1 other (that I know of) went ahead and made ours to trade while she's here.
Side note: not sure how reliable these girls are with keeping up with it (kids, work, life madness) so I'm only handing out my prep when I receive a prep from them. I don't have the money or patience (or time, once I'm commuting) to make and give food away to not get anything in return. So, depending on who else follows through besides the 2 I know of, I'll be eating this (: If nothing else, I'm gaining confidence in the kitchen for myself.11 -

I'm not big on teriyaki but everyone was going with an asian theme and took my ideas. So I found a website and picked something haha BF can't eat it since it has honey and he's allergic (plus he doesn't like teriyaki either). Next up, I'm looking at cilantro-lime slow cooker shredded chicken tacos (or taco bowls, not sure yet)4 -

04/27 - 349.0 - Maintained, and even dropped, the previous loss. Now solidly under 350. I haven't been this low since 2011. And I got in a pretty good kettlebell/TRXRip workout this morning.
04/28 - 349.7 - A little uptick after going over on my calories. I'm happy it stayed under 350, though.
04/29 - 348.5 - And the rollercoaster goes down again. The gradual downward trend continues. I did get in a good walk this morning, but weights will have to wait until this evening.

4/29 120.5 Apparently I got caught up in life yesterday and didn’t read the board. Bad experience at Walmart grocery pick up. Girl refused to put on mask, young man (employee) said he was going to “kick your *kitten*” to my husband who was outraged by the girls attitude. Today we are supposed to have a record breaking high for April, 102 degrees!
@quiltingjaine I'm sorry for the bad experience with such rude employees, to put it mildly. I thought I would let you know my experience if that was your first time using the pickup service so if you wanted to try it again, or if others are thinking about trying it.
Each time the employees have worn masks. I open the back of my SUV before they come out and they load and talk to us thru the back. They also sign for you (new policy) so absolutely no contact. It's worked very well for us each time we've used it. The only "issue" we've had is last time the guy brought a small bag to my window that he said was a "Spring gift" and I waved him off without opening the window and asked that he put it in the back with the other groceries. My husband and I laughed because that was defeating the purpose of us using their pickup service. I felt bad since it was a gift and I told him thank you and he said "that's okay, it's not from me." LOL The employees we've dealt with have been very nice and I feel for them working during this time where they have a chance of exposure to the virus and I'm driving up and sitting in my car while they load it. This isn't to minimize your experience at all as the the employees you dealt with sound like complete jerks, to say the least.
Anyway, this may not have been your first time, but thought I would let you know if it was so hopefully the next time will be better since being able to pick up is so helpful right now during these crazy times.
Wow, I sound like I'm doing PR for Walmart which definitely is not my intention . Debra8 -
Round 112 Goal: Try not to focus on the fact I'm playing catch-up after going totally off track for 3 to 4 weeks and gaining back 7.2 pounds (180.6). To stay motivated, I need to celebrate the fact I stopped the downward spiral, and be happy with each pound I lose even if it's the second time around. AND quit obsessing over the fact I gained 7 pounds back and just get on with it
04/26: 177.8
04/27: 177.8
04/28: 177.6
04/29: 177.7 Rowed early this morning. I've learned over time that if I do not exercise in the morning, I will find every excuse not to later in the day and also there's a more likely chance that I'll not stay with it in other ways especially during the witching hours of 4PM to 8PM. Going to start back IF today which has always worked really well for me. I try to stop eating between 4PM and 5PM. In the past it's helped me to stop eating later in the day/evening and became a habit so may take a few days to get to that point again.

04/26 …..204.3….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND Weight was inflated due to travel & Chinese food the day before. Therefore, my hope is to lose a full 2 pounds (or more) this round to be at a 0.1 deficit (or more). If the travel yesterday caused suspected water weight, this, at minimum should be attainable.
04/27 …..203.2 ….. And there goes the water from the Chinese Food two days ago. Now, to work on the weight gain. Goal: 202.3 or less. I worked hard yesterday doing a mix-up of movement and exercise. Very sore knees over the past couple of days due to some of my exercise choices so I’m keeping an eye on that. I pray today will be a strong day. It is Sunny & beautiful today with no rain expected until after 8:00 PM tonight so I plan on taking advantage of that. I will be traveling tomorrow for carpeting about 200 miles away each way. Carpet sales were prohibited until May 1st so I’m getting my butt out there to get the 7 different pieces/sizes that I need. Good luck everyone on this round!
04/28 …..203.1 ….. Travel today. I expect the scale will be up tomorrow.
04/29 …..208.4 ….. Are you flipping kidding me????? Yes, I double-checked the scale several times. Travel yesterday consisted of no snacks, a light lunch and a small dinner I split into two portions (brought the other one home). High sodium Thai dinner with real rice (not cauliflower) so I know I’m retaining some water but this is crazy! I did eat the other half of the dinner at about 1:00 AM (about 3 hours before I went to bed). Today is cold, very gloomy and depressing with lots of rain. I will be indoors all day but I will be walking my hallways, using my ski machine etc. Lots of Parsley tea for me today! It was a long trip and when we arrived I could not even bring home the carpet. They did not have enough of the color/style I chose so they have ordered it precut in my sizes (I need 6 pieces). So next week will be another trip. Better choices next time!

Pretty sure this is wrong. I’ve had problems with this scale in the past but compared it to my parent’s scale (which I consider gold standard) now that I am back at home. Haven’t compared in a few days and have a feeling it’s a little wacky! Will compare tomorrow
04/29 136.7
and my parents’ scale was lower😳

04/27 - 65.7kg, yay, back to where I was a few days ago, sticking to counting calories and walking
04/28 - 65.6kg, ate a "big" dinner which was not that comfortable even though within calorie limits...
04/29 - 65.3kg, a nice drop, most likely will not be sustainable through tomorrow and I'll see a bounce up
04/30 - 65.1kg, a delightful surprise this morning and well deserved because I've been so diligent :-)

04/30- 152.2lbs got a good work out in yesterday. Goal today is another one this morning plus yoga. Going to try to start a fasting app. Still eating same calories but just between certain hours. Last time I lost 20 lbs I did it without even realizing thay I was doing fasting. I ate only between 10and 5 about four days a week. My Energy levels were great and I lost cravings when I did it. I’m having terrible cravings. Added a multi vitamin. Hoping these things help. Update tomorrow!

Looking forward:
I'm just too danged cussed to let this thing knock me back, and ruin all the effort I have put in to get here. I am stepping up my routine, and taking control. Sheltering in place means I can fully concentrate on getting in my exercise, and preparing healthy food.
- April: focus on maintaining and increasing my progress
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals
Never give up! Never give in!
Back Story:2018 goal: get back down to 160 ✅2020
2019 goal: proceed down to 150 ✅ with 2 months to spare
2020 goal: maintain below 150 dropping slowly down to 145 ✅ So far, so good.
That's a WIN in my book!
Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
