SuziQ: My son is enjoying his project with the speakers because he has always loved music and is sentimental about those particular speakers. In addition, he is military and confined to base for now due to Covid19. He needs something to keep himself busy.
Irish Terri: DH and I had our 50th Wedding Anniversary during March. We had already decided to wait for the family celebration until a time we could all be together & visit the site on the Oregon coast where we were married 50 year ago. Covid 19 has altered our plans. Our son & daughter and their families are stuck at their homes for the time being and so are we. :ohwell:
KJ: You are moving along on a path that will be good news for families who need daycare. You are brilliant at helping kids feel safe and happy while their parents work away from home. :flowerforyou:
Lanette: Happy May Day!!! :flowerforyou: Our groomer meets each car in the parking lot and takes the dog into the building. Pet owners pay for her services at car side. We haven’t taken our dog in because of his torn & broken toenail. He is healing, thank goodness.
Barbie: When schools closed in Oregon for the Covid epidemic, our Governor opened school cafeterias to provide a nutritious lunch for the students daily. The kids can pick up their meal at an outside door to the school. I am very pleased with the Governor’s actions to feed Oregon’s children.
We have a beautiful morning and I am grateful for it.

Decided to make a goulash y chili together lol. Turkey chili can, spinach 1 serving, top with diced onions, diced carrots in it,Blk beans drained,a whole can of corn with juice, 1 serving cheese. Well balanced meal.
Good enough y quick to reheat.
Making JR his 2nd quesadilla this morning we’re still in a growth spurt. This is looking like it will be a big one. His feet grew out of his shoes y he went up to sz7 clothes so far

I emailed my DDIL with the Guardian article about why some people (me) are finding the lockdown a relief. She replied that she had similar reports from some of her patients. Also echoed my sense of guilt. She has very much enjoyed some aspects, like more time with the family and no commuting, but she did say that my son has been having a terrible time in his new job. He doesn't talk to me about it, but he took on the post with the object of getting more AF drinks into bars and restaurants.
He has taken a pay cut and laid people off. He has never been the sort of son who shares his feelings with his mum, but I would like to know more.
We are seeing them tomorrow at the 'picnic', but I doubt much sensible conversation will take place. I will set their table outside and sit DH and me inside with the French doors open. Just want to see them in the flesh. The kids can run around the garden. DH has cut the grass and put sticks to guard the wildflower patch that we have sown.
They are bringing their own food, so I haven't got to get neurotic about that.
Our fish dish was fabulous tonight and the wine, a Gavi, was even more fabulous.

We have bought a rake, so its rake up pinecones time! We have no grass to speak of, but we do have weeds go figure. Since we have the huge trees, our place gets no direct sun.😧 Husband bought weed killer for some of the prickly large weeds.
Today we are rich ( in our account!) Stimulus checks posted and retirement pays posted. I will get to play bank today, paying bills and spending it. Need to think of a nice 1st birthday gift for Athena Rose, she'll be 1 on the 11th.💖. Can you believe it?💖
Thanks Barbie for starting us out each month, on the right foot.... Looking down.... No, no the OTHER right!😁
I watched a YouTube video of a autopsy on a 60 year old, obese woman yesterday. Why? It is a somber reality of what fat does inside your body, how it compromises every organ. The examiner takes each organ and shows you the damage parts, and tells you what a normal organ should feel like. Its a stark wake-up call, and one I give myself every so often. I want my organs to be happy campers, free to have their spaces inside me. Not crowded, with layers of fat. I picture my liver being like some unhappy layered New Yorker in the winter. Grumbling, and whatnot. What I want my organs to feel like are nudists, just sipping on straws, lying around happily! I shall get there!

Rebecca-
You crack me up. 😀😀😀😀 I like watching shows like that too. I sometimes have to keep hammering into my brain that eating good food and not binging on sweets really does pay off.
Athena Rose will be one already?? Can't wait to see her birthday pictures☺

Yes, Rebecca! The sad truth is that obesity is one if the highest indicators of death from COVID19, because the fat, especially around the middle, stores all sorts of inflammatory cells, that can run out of control when the body is infected. This causes pneumonia etc.
Well done for watching the video. Most people don't want to look the truth in the face.

@Beth great news about your son's graduation. At a school i work at they read everyone's names for graduation (and gave them certificate last year) but in the program there were about 25 out of 130 who had * next to their name and in fine print it said they they still needed to pass an x proficiency test to finalize their diplomas.
@Rita I've got allergies too. They are not the worst ever, but i'd be happy to do without.
@Heather i'm sorry about your son's job. nice that your DIL keeps you abreast a bit. awesome about seeing the kids. Enjoy!
Did go for a walk today. I was dragging, so kept it short. Usually i easily fully walk my 1h.
I realize i can be grateful for having easily walked an hour most days exept the week when i had the fever.
I'm gonna write gratitudes for May.
Grateful1. Balcony and sun 2. Quiet 3. Good fiction to read 4. Good shows to watch 5. Healthy food.
Food1. Had a soup w cabbage onion curry+olive oil and gomasio and homemade chocolate maple tahini spread on a few crackers for dessert. yum.

Rebecca: The mental picture of your organs happily sipping on straws puts a smile on my face.
Rita: My eyes have been a little irritated and I’ve been using Systane eye drops. They help my eyes feel moisturized rather than dry. I find them at a local grocery store in an aisle with the vitamins, pain relievers, salves and such. I think they’re available in many stores along with other brands. They’re very helpful for my aching eyes. You’ll probably want to read the labels to be sure they’re okay for you. .
I went to a plant nursery this morning and bought a new fuchsia to hang beside our deck steps. This one has purple and red blossoms. We turned on our automatic drip watering system as soon as we hooked the fuchsia onto a plant hook. One of last year’s fuchsias survived winter and it is now hanging next to the kitchen window. :flowerforyou:

Rebecca: It’s hard to believe it’s a year since Athena Rose was born.
Janetr: Con very congrats 🥳 on new granddaughter. 👶🏻 Cute babies are always a joy to behold.
Still no Machka? That’s a worry!

Heather: I envy your planned “picnic” with the grands. I’ve seen my grandchildren through the magic of the internet, and I am very grateful for that blessing. We have no opportunity to see them “live and in person.” We simply live too far apart. :ohwell:
Rebecca: You have the gift of humor and the ability to make sense of things. WTG!!!
Rita: Happy pollen=happy bees. I hope you will be able to enjoy a bit of honey after suffering from the pollen.
SuziQ: Steamed Vegetables is fabuous I’m forwarding it to family members.
I hope we are all able to find joy in these challenging times. The humor among this group is a gift I cherish. Thank you to SuziQ and others’ who’ve given us a reason to smile.

I investigated a bit and saw that Machka posted on a bicycle challenge thread yesterday, so I think she must be alright. Maybe she just wanted a little break from this thread for awhile.6
