Thanks Barbie, for keeping us going and sharing your life with us.
Rebecca, your pen pal sounds like a good thing and you meet so many interesting people.
I must say I am impressed with the Window "World. They were there shorty after 8am and were done and cleaned up by 9:30. We had 4 windows done this time and it was on side of the house. They sure look nice. Next want to do the 2 windows on the front of the house. I just need to make up my mind if I want one to be a picture window. Then have 4 basement windows to do. So must admit it was nice that it was all done and cleaned up before I got home from work.
Katla--Glad your test is done and everything was good.
Kim--Sounds like you have a great plan and I know you will get it done.
Pip--Your house is so cute. Pray it sells fast and for what you are asking.
Okie--how cute. I enjoy watching the deer when I am sitting and not riding. Thanks for sharing
I am so glad a new month is starting, this year is flying by and I have to put on my big girl panties and start taking care of myself. It's strange as I do not like going shopping and very lucky that DH does. But I am so tired of this whole mess. Back in March I became POA for my friend Sam that had a stroke 2 and half years ago.
Her daughter took advantage of this deal and was getting her SS checks and not paying her bills. I tried talking to the daughter and she would not do it. Also explains Sam being moved so much. Any way I talked with the home and with Sam and we decided I would be come her POA. So we got that all lined up and now her checks go to the home and her part goes into an account so she has some money if they go on an outing. In the meantime SS is going after the daughter to pay the bills for the last 2 and half years and the places she was at and the outstanding balance of where she is now. Could get messings and while I feel bad about it, it is her own fault. Anyway tomorrow I am going to the doctor with her as she fell acouple months ago and broke her shoulder and they ended up replacing it. With the lockdown this is the only chance I have to see her.
Thanks for being here. Blessings, Vicki GI NE7 -

Today I learned how to start and host a Zoom meeting. I have been an attendee at many, but now I know how to take the lead.

Went to the Salvation Army (just got a shirt) then to the farmer’s market to get cantaloupe (I wasn't real impressed), then dropped off a shawl I made for a friend, then Publix, then Hobby Lobby. I thought they might have what I need in stock but they didn’t update their website, but no luck. Then went in the pool then WalMart to get a prescription for Vince. Home and made some of the purple potatoes and cut up a cantaloupe
Found an exercise DVD that I didn’t recognize, was going to buy it, then realized it was a dance DVD. I’m just not coordinated enough for dance.
Happy Canada Day to all who celebrate it
Carla – welcome. I know what you mean about missing out on things with babies due to covid. I haven’t been able to see my grandson (born may 4) since September. We were planning to go there in May, but it wasn’t meant to be. I understand he’s walking now. I missed the entire crawling stage.
Sunshine – welcome!
Carol GA – hope your bite gets better fast
Heather UK – I didn’t even know there was such a thing as goat meat!

I do my best to check in here often even though I don't post much! You ladies are always in my pocket.
I'm finished with my breast cancer treatments. Just saw my oncologist and they are very happy with my scar healing. Am now on an estrogen inhibitor, Anastrozole, for the next 5 years. Side effects are bothersome. Renewed hot flashes and night sweats, achy and stiff body and brain fog. Oh and weight gain.
My goal is to not gain any more weight than I have and if I lose I lose. I eat very well and get in my walking miles, strength training and stretching. We no longer belong to the gym since COVID arrived.
I'm doing okay. My husband has devoted himself to my care which is weird cause with his Asperger's in the past I was a passing (but loved) thought. Having my daughter here is a godsend. We see each other almost daily.
Hoping all are managing during these times we are in.

Hi Gals,
Annie – I remember installing my garbage disposal and same problem a heavy item at an awkward angle. I ended up looking at everything in my home as something that I could use to support it while I put it in place, I’m thinking a small stool, or a suitcase on the stove to help support the microwave…
Cheri – what good news in a weird tough world.

Son and I are looking into adopting a dog together. She or he would live with him because of fenced yard and DH does not not want one. I grew up with a dog and wanted one for a long time. Now that I am retired it is time. We want a small to medium dog because his yard is small.6

Hi everyone! And welcome to all the new people!
Well...despite my best efforts I managed to gain .1 of a pound last week (and 1.1 pounds the week previous). Decided to cut back my daily calories to 1300 a day to see if that moves things along. DH reminded me to keep drinking calcium fortified OJ so I’m hitting my daily calcium goals as well now. My bones will thank me (hopefully).
Getting much stronger on the treadmill and had to bump up the incline to get my heart rate somewhat elevated. Making progress on that front at least!
On the puppy front - Ms. Moneypenny is off pain meds and seems to be a bit better. I don’t know if she’s 100% - but she’s much more chipper! Such a relief!
Keeping up with the banjolele - learned a bunch of songs this week already. Creep, Little Red Riding Hood, Folsom Prison Blues, Ring Of Fire...all really easy and fun. I’m going to come out of isolation with a whole new surprise skill!
If anyone is looking to add friends on MFP - Feel free to drop me a request

We got the microwave attached Yay! Thanks for listening to me vent. You should have seen my Dad go up and down the stairs and the stepladder all day long. He is in better shape than I am!

Barbie - Thank you for the new month’s thread.
June was a good month for exercise. I registered for a virtual Wonder Woman themed run. I signed up for a 10K and each Saturday try to increase mileage slightly. Last Saturday was 6 miles using walk/run intervals. Currently running 55 seconds and walking 2 minutes 35 seconds for 20 intervals. Line Dance classes, Zumba Gold and walking don’t elevate my heart rate like the walk/runs do.
I walk/run Monday - Wednesday - Saturday
Zumba and Line Dance at the Y Tuesday - Thursday
Line Dance at rec center Friday
Strength Train at least twice a week.
Covid-19 cases are spiking daily locally 1,000 - 1,200 each day. The rec center has already cancelled Zumba classes that started last week. The Y requires a mask for entry and exit, can remove during exercise class. I anticipate gyms closing soon if new cases don’t subside. Bars were closed again last week and restaurants moved to 50% from 75% occupancy.
I ran at the indoor track at the Y today to see how that would be. It was much better than in the heat outside. If the gyms close again, I will definitely become an early morning runner to avoid the extreme heat. It was 96 today .
I have tried new recipes. Cheese crusted omelette has been on repeat with whatever breakfast meats, veggies and cheeses that are on hand. Also, mason jar ice cream, no churning required. I use the whip attachment on an immersion blender, rather than shaking the jar for 5 minutes. Ingredients are 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, 1 egg yolk, 1/2 tsp vanilla and 1 Tbsp sweetener. Freeze for 3-4 hours. Any additions you want such as fruit or cocoa can be added for different flavors. Butter pecan has been my favorite.
Love seeing all the grand children, flower an wild life pictures.

Katla - Victoria is one city I have always wanted to visit. My grandmother had a cousin move there and she visited “back home” in the summer of 1980 when I was 12. I thought she was so sophisticated and when she described her adopted city to my Grandmother I developed a vision in my head of what it should be. I have a friend that lives there and I’m sure I would have no hotel fees. I should go someday.
Karen - I feel honoured that you chose to learn something about Canada today. I know you didn’t do it for me specifically but I’m honoured just the same. In reading through your post I learned things as well.
Vicki - it is terribly sad the number of elderly that are abused by the children that should love and take care of them.
Like you, I need to pull my big girl panties up as well and start doing something. I have found this very difficult even though my day to day hasn’t changed a lot.
I had a sad moment today when my grandchildren were visiting, my 4 year old granddaughter elbow bumped my elbow and said “member, Nona birus” I just want hugs and kisses.
Regardless of my little sad moment above we had a great visit with our eldest and the Grands today. They came out to do a bit of crafting on some coffee cups for their camper. They are leaving Monday to go for 4 days. My daughter needs them to get away from the kids in their neighbourhood for a bit. They have a troubling situation with a 4 year Old and the Mother is not inclined to do anything about it. This 4 year old boy insists on pooping outside, has hit and punched my Granddaughter (4) and keeps showing her his private parts. My daughter has resorted to not allowing my Granddaughter to play outside without her direct supervision now. This of course, causes issues because my daughter can never be out as long as what my Granddaughter wishes. We have decided to bring each grandchild out for a couple of days towards the end of the month. They need a break from one another which is obvious by the silly arguments today.
This was a funny one though, Jonah was told to go out and play with his sister. He is 8 and doesn’t want to play with her. Our daughter said, you begged and begged for a sister and we gave you one, spend 15 minutes with her. He replied with, “I specifically asked for a brother”.
There is almost exactly the same age difference between him and her as there is between my brother (younger) and I. I understand his frustration, the age difference is hard to deal with.
I have to work tomorrow and am regretting not taking a couple of vacation days, hopefully my boss doesn’t show tomorrow.
