Just thought about this....my father use to dump everything out of place on our beds so we had to put away before bedtime! If I have to do a big organizing project I do something similar now. I pull everything out of that area (room, closet, or cabinet) then I can sort from there. When I redid our now guest room, I made stacks in the hallway. Keep, donate, return, and trash in the bag. Then I was better able to put things away and even thin out the keep pile. This is more than a 15 min job. Now that most of that is done the 15 minutes at a time is much easier.

Kylia,
It's so good to see you and so glad we are part of your selfcare. I need to do a reset on the sewing room Corey made for me, which immediately became the place to throw things you don't want to look at right now. I walk in there and my head explodes, and I just back out slowly. Sounds like a good project!4 -
Howdy folks. Starting at the end and working back today. 😂 DH is working on the electrics today (fine tuning our solar power system so that we don't get roasted by the hot water in the system). He loves to tinker. He is a qualified electrical engineer so no safety issues.
@kymarai I had similar systems for my girls when they were young. At least the mess was not visible. They got more untidy as they got older, and would just dump the stuff onto the floor from the bed. I did regular spot checks in hopes of getting them to be tidier. In the end, I told them that they had 1 day to clean up their act, then I would throw everything I found on their floors out of the windows. When they came home from school next day, they had to pick their belongings off the lawns. I didn't have much trouble after that. The other rule was "if it isn't in the laundry basket it didn't get washed"
I did https://www.home-storage-solutions-101.com/ Declutter Challenge five or six years ago, and streamlined a lot of my belongings. Also Kondoed my clothes when I was losing all the weight. I like that I can see all my current seasons clothes at a glance. I freed up so much drawer space doing that. Now all I need to do is apply the principles to the chaos that is my Hobbies/computer room.
These days, there's just the two of us, so I do a Fly Lady kind of thing where I pick up anything that I notice not in it's regular place and take it where it belongs. I get a lot of extra steps doing that 😂
Bathroom is cleaned when I get ready each morning, downstairs shower room cleaned last thing at night. DH does the kitchen after breakfast, and vacuums downstairs once a week, I vacuum upstairs. He also loads washing machine and hangs out the clothes, I bring them in fold and put away.

OMG! I have caught up on reading posts! lol I will respond later! Just a couple: Sue in WA That baby barn swallow is adorable! "Mama!" Kylia- I clean and organize the same way. Since my daughter moved out, her room has become the "catch all". This past week, I pulled everything out into the hall and into piles: Basement storage, sell/goodwill, back into the room in a specific place, throw out. The peace of mind now that it is done is immeasurable! Yesterday was my first day back with my kiddos and it went wonderfully. The kids arrived ready to see me and their friends! Our Monarch eggs have hatched and the caterpillars are either 1)enormous or 2) in chrysalis. There are 12 of them currently. On the homefront (or rather my daughter's homefront in TX) Miguel is starting to walk! 9 months! She is in for it. lol Miguel is always happy, but his energy level is much higher than Joaquin's. This is going to be fun to watch! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)6

Lanette I overslept this morning till 5 after 3. My normal time is 3 AM. I love the quiet also. My windows are open even though it is 76 degrees. So looking forward to the August morning cooler air so I don't have to have the AC on all night.
Barbara Yes, I miss old Zek but he is living the dream in the country at his daughters in the mountains of central Oregon and fly fishing every day. Now I have only myself to micromanage and myself is a handful
Karen Yes, farm girls are tough. I am a former ranch girl and once was tough but now just a big sissy. So glad she is doing good. Living alone and having an emergency can be scary.
Katla I enjoy classical guitar and violin, not much for orchestra, but do love the old-time rock and roll. That is all but some of the 70's rock. The '80s were mostly cool with Dire Strait and Motley Crew, etc., but went astray in the '90s. 50's and '60s are the best.
Catfishing --- I never heard it used to describe online con artist until recently when a friend's granddaughters were laughing at some neighbor guy that thought he was the cat's meow and had found the love of his life and she just needed a few hundred to fly down to see him. She disappeared as soon as the transaction was made.

First day at work in the office in 4 months.
Long, long day.
Too peopley.
Still tired from surgery.
Exhausted.
I actually cried when I got home. I was holding Rhody close and started to cry. I didn't think it would hit me like that, but I guess it's not unusual.

When she regained consciousness, the pain was more bearable, so she drove herself into town to the hospital. I guess she didn't think to call 911. Hope she is doing better. There's nothing like that pain. I likened it to having a balloon in your abdomen that someone was blowing up and every inch on the balloon contained a razor blade sticking out. And they don't stop blowing up that balloon. Horrible. Many good thoughts headed her way.1 -
Hello everyone.
I am so far behind and to see we posted over 130 posts since yesterday. I am barely caught up, basically scanned. Sorry for lack of individual responses. I wish I had the time.
I have been working through painting my bedroom. I still have a little more touch up and am waiting to finish the door when I roll out the guest room. Guest room prep is underway. I am taking my time because I am going through things as they get packed up for actual painting.
I am not a big cleaner anymore, but do make sure to put everything back after use. I do not do well mentally when things are all over the place with piles here and there. I have been working towards less is more and have been downsizing consistently. Instead of being overwhelmed I take one area at a time (such as the junk drawer) because it allows me to get something accomplished versus saying, "I am going to downsize the kitchen". Using SMART goal theory (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) makes things easier for me.
I have been camping since I was a very young child. It was a cheap way for the family to escape the city and vacation. My uncle used to take my cousins and I to a fish camp for a week. As a young adult we camped in the rough (no facilities or electric) which was a lot of fun. I am more spoiled now and only tent camp if the site has electricity so I can have my air mattress, fans, coffee pot, etc. My dream is to try some sections of the Appalachian Trail. Way too much to conquer at this time, but one day I hope to do it. Something about having to be totally self-reliant while being away from everything appeals to me.
For those who knit.....I saw this picture on FB and would love to have one.......I am not sure I am motivated enough to learn how to knit to make one. But may make great gifts for those of you who do knit.
Well, it's off to the races for me. Hugs to all and prayers for those in need.

Google just announced all of its employees will be remote until June 2021. I have already thought my company would not be going back to the office until then. My conservative estimate was the beginning of next year. During our monthly all hands call it was stressed we all need to get used to technology and start scheduling live video calls.
I am finding my work life has required me to be very adaptable. I started when electric, memory typewriters were the rage, moved on to the first desktop to carrying my life in a cell phone. How things really change over time.6 -

Thanks so much for all of your support. It's been tough admitting all the flattery was fake. To recap: He asked for my PayPal account, I said a polite no, he asked again, and I said a firm No, then he quit texting goodnight and good morning. So I blocked him from Hangouts, and I blocked him from my phone contacts, and I blocked him on the dating site. He still has my email. It's such a cheap interface I can't find where to block.
Well that was a lesson. At least it only cost me my pride. Thanks again for your support. It's tough to stop believing.

Kylia ... good to see you post. So sorry to hear that molestation is part of your history. Your negative association to masks is a good reminder that we should never judge what others are doing ... such as not wearing a mask. Who knows who has traumatic memories or extreme anxieties or other reasons that make wearing a mask impossible. Thank you for sharing.
Kelly ... good to see your post as well!
SuziQ ... my husband is still working from home until September 8th although rumors are flying that they will keep his division home until Jan...which would be amazing as his retirement date is Feb 1st!
Went off the rails with poor food choices yesterday, but today is another day.

I really wish my office would do this too. But there's no reason to at this point so they've called everyone back into the office.
The state is just about back to normal. 😕

Machka - I know you love working remotely, but I had the flexibility and do work remote at least one day per week and sometimes more depending upon why I may have needed to be remote (such as home fixes or car in the shop). I wish things were not so bad in Florida - we are now the poster child as to what not to do. Remote work will be my normal, if we go until next summer.3 -

I would love to have that flexibility ... to be able to work from home even one day each week. But nope. Not allowed.
I'm thankful I have a job but so incredibly tired of spending 9.5+ hours a day 5 days a week away from home.

Did a part of Dressed Up Drills DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a 30 Minutes to Fitness Body Design DVD
To all Reece lovers: Do you know that Reece’s is a peanut butter paste and not real peanut butter?
Vince commented yesterday about flies in the house. Well, I just saw a lot around the cat’s food so I really cleaned the floor. He’s usually so intuned to these things that I’m surprised he didn’t notice it.
Barbara – I, too, hope Vince’s issue is minor. I do hope it’s just a fiberadinoma and no treatment is needed. But we shall see when the results are in. If people would be fined for not wearing a mask, a lot more people would wear masks. Please continue to take care of yourself
Went and picked up glass for one of the diamond dotz. Then went to Aldi’s. It’s so nice to go on senior days/hours, there was practically no one in the store. I was the only person checking out.
Vince is upset right now so I’ll probably just go in the pool and let him be. First, our condo assoc. has a Facebook page and that got him upset because he doesn’t do facebook. Then there was a problem with a refill of his prescription. There was a problem at the doctor’s office. Now he’s complaining about “patient portals”. He found old receipts from the now-deceased cats which sadden him. Oh well…this too shall pass
Kylia (((HUGS)))
Terri – one time I told Bryan that I was sick of looking at the mess in his room and if he didn’t clean it up I would and I’d throw things out. His answer? He closed the door! Then I didn’t have to look at it….lol

Just finished my 3-mile walk before the impending heat that is predicted to be 100 today. Very overcast so I doubt it will reach that. Real proud of myself for breaking my "carved in stone" routine and getting my walk-in before breakfast #2.
Faye's schedule
3 AM- Out of bed night shorts in the hamper.
Vitamins with water and high protein shake downed.
3:05 - Out on my back patio, porch light off,
for Tai Chi still donned in sporty underwear.
3:15 - pilate/yoga strength exercises with abs focus.
3:45 - In kitchen emptying dishwasher, boiling water
for coffee, preparing breakfast #1 while doing pushups
using kitchen counter and later high stepping in place.
(my coffee consist of one cup full strength drunk halfway
and then filled with hot water. I do this 10 times for 3 full
cups of coffee with the caffeine and acid effects of one.)
((Some tricky math figuring this out))
3:55 - Fully dressed with hair quickly brushed and slushed.
4:00 - Eating breakfast while messing about on the computer.
5:00 - Guitar practice using classical finger styling.
6:00 - Breakfast #2
8:30 - Snack time
11:00 - Lunch
1:30 PM - Ice cream
3:00 PM - Dinner
6:30 PM - Off to bed
DISCLAIMER:
Timing may vary as I lose track of time easily.
My routine seldom varies as it did this morning.
I must focus and consult my notes..................

Try marking his messages as spam. Then it'll just automatically go there and perhaps eventually, the email provider will catch on that he's a fraud and block his account. You can block senders in some web email clients. Outlook does. I haven't figured out how to do it in Gmail, but I just mark them as spam and I don't see them anymore.
I am very sorry this happened to you. I read about this a lot, due to my job, but I never actually "knew" anyone it happened to. I met my mister online over 20 years ago, when online dating was very new. I was super cautious then, but would be even more-so now. It's unfortunate that it's so hard to trust anyone anymore. :-(

I need you, math teachers, to check my math as I am now questioning it.
Full cup drank 1/2 down - refill 1/2 up - drank 1/2 down = 1 cup
1/2 fill - 1/2 dn - 1/2 fill - 1/2 dn = 2cups
1/2 f - 1/2 dn - 1/2 full then all the way down = 3 1/2 cups
However, sometimes I drink the last one down half and then mix in hot
chocolate then refill with hot H2O and drink that down all the way. That
should be 3 cups of coffee and 1 cup of poor girl's mocha.

Someone said 'If someone shows you who they are, believe them'. So this man has shown you he is unkind and untrustworthy, you have believed him and moved away from him. Well done you. You deserve better and better will come. People like him can just be let go, part of your past and gone. And dont berate yourself - we all like to be flattered, so no wonder you took to him. Nothing to be worried about admitting that. Now go find a good person to be with who sees your worth
Today I am dog sitting. He is a sofa based life form, so has to be persuaded to go out for a walk, but we headed out and did a good country walk for an hour. Well, two hours, but one was spent sitting on a bench chatting with a friend

Karen in VA: Sending good thoughts for your friend, Shona.
Thanks for he Caladium information. Our house faces northeast. We have a sunrise/moonrise view across the river to Washington State. My flower beds are mostly shaded. Caladiums might fit in well. I’ll consider them in the future. I have herbs in pots that include parsley, sage, Rosemary, Thyme. Chocolate mint, German sage, & chives. The German Sage leaves helped repel our recent ant invasion. The little stinkers are all gone for now. We also used ant bait along with the herbs. This is a townhouse, and I’ve been surprisingly happy here. I’ve always thought I’d like to have acreage, but that doesn’t seem likely at this point. :ohwell: Lucky for me, I have a friend with acreage and a horse she lets me ride.
Rebecca: Lego City is amazing.
Barbara: You are right that it will be hard to go and visit our family in the Midwest and east. DH says he won’t fly but I can go. We've been talking about taking the RV but he isn't feeling well enough for that level of effort at this time. The last time I traveled on my own to see my daughter & family, I had to call the neighbors to check that he was okay. He had turned off all the phones & locked all the doors. I gave them the garage code and they came in that way. It was a scary day. There is a slight possibility we could take the RV, but I don’t think it will happen this year. :ohwell:
Lisa: We have two spaces that I’ll dub as junk rooms. The entire garage is one, and our office is the other. The garage is much better organized than our shared office.
(((Machka))) Think of your back to work challenge as similar to an astronaut returning from a long-term trip to outer space. Reentry is the hardest part.
Our old dog has cancer. I’ll probably bring this up too often. It was a jolt when the vet said he couldn’t do surgery because of the health risk for an older dog. Schooner has been taking pain meds daily for many months, and that continues. I’ve followed the doctor’s directive and purchased a 1% hydrocortisone cream for the lesion on his backside. So far, he doesn’t seem to be in pain.

Welcome, Donnamaltz! I don’t like to cook much either. That’s what rotisserie chickens in the store were made for. 🙂 I often buy lean cuisine type meals or entrees. And I CAN manage scrambled eggs or steak. Prepackaged salads help. I’m single so all I have to worry about is me.
Caratrevett, a hearty welcome to you too. I must have been a VERY happy kid by your definition. There was a stream in the woods a block from our house. All the kids used to go there and play in the water. Of course the banks and bottom were very muddy …
Lisa in AR, that poor little period! And I suspect it goes for commas as well. I’m surprised everyone from Arkansas doesn’t have heat exhaustion all summer. But I was delighted in the week I spent there to experience several great thunderstorms. I’m from Ohio, so the thunderstorms were a hair-raising (literally on one memorable occasion when it struck a pole beside my car at a stoplight!) experience.
Lanette! Thank you for your great suggestions. My first granddaughter makes time to come down from Whidbey Island about once every two months and wave her magic wand over everything. I’m about ready for another visit, as my picture attested the other day. And that poor couple just trying to enjoy their meal! Lol!!
Oh, Flea! i DO wish I still enjoyed music! For some reason it exacerbated my anxiety now - even Dixieland Jazz, which I love. I might try some “Mamas & Papas”-type music. Sixties and seventies stuff was my go-to for cleaning years ago. Great suggestion. I’ll see if I can find a kind of music and volume that works.
Barbara AHMOD, I miss our hot tub and pool here terribly. COVID regulations won’t let the park open until at least stage 3, so the facilities are required to be licked even for residents.
Lithodora! What a lovely plant! I bet it’d live my front area of the main garden.
KJ(Kelly), so good always to hear from you. So exciting that your butterflies are metamorphosing. I too found FLYLADY back almost when she started. I suppose I could do the “clean sink” tonight when my energy is higher. That part of her routine spoke to me.
Oh, Machka! The relief of that release must have been immense. That’s part of the magic of pets. They have no expectations of us, they’re just “there” - completely present in the moment.
SuziQ, I started my office working life when the IBM Selectric was the rage. We still had 10-key and full keyboard adding machines, though. I also learned the big bookkeeping machines when I was in banking. I too came to computers early. We had a Tandy CoCo 3, then went to Atari, then I got my hands in a used Mac Classic in about 1988, and it’s been Apple all the way ever since. I do use a DOS machine at work, but Mac is much easier.
Annie in DE, its so hard not to believe what is so healing and satisfying to hear. I’ve had a number of men make the mistake of being too flattering and too personal too quickly. Its usually a dead giveaway that they’re scamming. Usually, so far, as in always. With my husband, I felt an electric shock the minute I saw him. I knew. We had a total of 28 years together, which was longer than my parents had before my mom died. I’ve decided I can live without a life mate if I must for the coming years, but I’ll be happy when the senior centers open again. I miss hugs and contemporaries of any gender.

Annie So sorry that good people like you get taken advantage of by these cons. I was once conned out of a few thousand by a guy that moved in the area I was living to set up a fire district. This was way before the internet. I was single and he seemed a kind man. Long story short after I confronted him he tried assaulting me and my self-defense training came in and it ended up with me breaking one of his wrists and kneeing his manhood into an undesirable state and breaking his hose with the old palm of the hand slam. He called the sheriff to arrest me who promptly arrested him for embezzlement and assault. He later tried to sue me but the judge dismissed the case and lectured him on how next time he would spend 20 years behind bars. I think he served about a month in county jail.
Anyway start a new email and be careful who you share it with. Always have an email for important things separate from your online social email. Recently the only problem I have had is old needy guys many that have money and are honest but don't understand NO, not interested. I avoid all sites that attract crooks. Really enjoying this all advanced years girl's thread. Stay strong and just write this up as an experience that could have ended much worse.

Barbara [Rita the penguin socks, how can you work with yarn when it is so hot? small projects only so my lap is not covered like a blanket! I do this indoors in the evening. Days, I like to see if it’s not too hot to sit outside with my machine.
I think 1000 is too low. Make sure you are getting all your nutrients and meet your macros. A splurge day may kickstart your loss this of you on a plateau. Your body has adjusted to the low calories, hence the plateau. Just my opinion.
