Faye: Do you live at the marina/RV park? If so, I walk by your place several times a week when we are out walking our dog. Welcome to the neighborhood.
Tracey: PEI is a place I have always wanted to visit. I’m a huge fan of Anne of Green Gables. Your photos are wonderful!
Pip: Sorry about the loss of your phone. I hope you’ll be able to replace it asap. Was it insured?
Rebecca: I do live in Halloweentown. October is amazing around here. I wonder whether it will be impacted by corona virus. I hope not. Last October we had the pleasure of a visit from DS, DDIL, & our grandson. All of us had a great time.
Sue in WA: I hope your mole turns out to be benign. :flowerforyou:
Machka: You are so close to reaching your goal. Have you been thinking about how you will celebrate?
Lisa: You have been blessed with a good man and chose to marry him. WTG!!!!
We are in a battle with tiny black ants. DH found an online suggestion—spray the area with mint oil. I decided to try a different aromatic plant—I took some spent flowrs form our sage plant and the ants are not here at the moment. PLUS the kitchen smells great.

I will go over this fast-moving post when I return from my walk as the morning sun is already brutal.
Katla Yes, a bit down the river from you near where I was in 1984 when I was one of 751 victims to eat at the Taco Time and get food poisoning from the Rajneeshee's bioterror attack trying to rig the local election. Also during those years, I made one appearance at the Waterfront Blues Festival playing guitar with an old friend's band. Otherwise, an unknown nobody that windsurfed after work during the summer.
SuziQ Yes, that is much what I do now and yes it all makes sense. My hair is very humidity influenced. I started using the product recently because of all the wind. I would get it perfect and just amazing and then come home to discover I could be a star in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."
Tracey Awesome photos!!! Thank you!
Heather Awesome and congrats in getting DH to realize standing isn't cool. He sounds like he also has Endolympth Hydrops. There is a few good articles about it online and how it is controlled with a balanced diet similar to the Sears diet which is what Dr. Epley and Dr. Black both recommended for any vestibular disorder. Controlling your sugar levels is necessary for the inner ear and has nothing to do if one is diabetic or no. I have been on the diet for 20 years now with smashing success. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help someone.
Carol Yes, sturgeon is an amazing creature. There are old photos online of them being dragged to shore with model T's. They use to sell canned sturgeon here locally and it made the best tuna taste like poo. It was expensive but I would buy it anyway and make sandwiches with my homemade bread and that was what I had in my lunch box while on construction jobs back in the day.
My signature photo is from around 1970 with my best friend that died in the 80's from cancer. One of the many heartbreaking losses in my life. She was there for me after the loss of my baby (only child) and the loss of my husband shortly after.

The Rashneesh was way upriver from us. We were living in Tualatin back then. We moved here 23 years ago.1

Hey all! Happy Wednesday! I haven't been doing much so far during my vacation. Getting paperwork done, a couple of trainings, a little cleaning and organizing of childcare stuff. Mostly resting and recuperating from the weird "flu"? bug I had over the weekend. Still feel lightheaded, but only when I walk or go from upright to laying down. It goes away if I am still. lol weird. Anywho...I am taking a decongestant, just in case I have an ear thing going on.
Happy birthday to Evie (and was it Katla?)?
Congratulations Pip!
Katie- so sorry to hear about your friends, Mary and Helen. Sending you hugs
Heather- So happy you are able to get out and enjoy time with your friend! Also happy your DH is feeling a bit better! I wonder if it occurs to men that NO ONE needs to know that they are sitting down to pee!
Yvonne- So good to see you posting! I have missed you and your "holiday" reminders!
Rita- Hope you get a break in the hot spell you are having! In the meantime, stay cool! Also that lizard is amazing!
Cleaning- I hate it; but it is an automatic now. When Tim and I were first married, he did ALL of the housework. I was working in the restaurant business, back then and my hours were all over the place. I did laundry and the cooking. He did everything else. That lasted about four years. Then I quit the restaurant biz and began working out of my home (childcare). I remember, those early years fondly, though. It was like having a "cleaning fairy". I would go to work mid day and come home late at night and the house would be clean, babies asleep. I imagine he hated those early years and it probably felt a lot like single parenting.
I am loving all of the photos of everyone's adventures and life journeys! I am heading up to northern Michigan (Leelanau Peninsula) on Friday morning. My youngest son, Colin, is going with me. We will head up early morning and plan to camp overnight. The area we are headed to is my family (father's side) farm. The farm is on the market for $400k+! Pretty sure they will get it. The town it is located in is a prime vacation spot, great property, centennial farm, near National Park land. So...no condos or neighborhoods going in...A half acre lot in that area is going for half that amount. Anyway, I got a call from my cousin, Betty, who asked if I would like to come up and go through some of my grandmother's things and take what I'd like before auction. I am touched that she asked me. My father passed away before my grandmother and when my grandmother passed away two years later; all of her things were left to her surviving children. So...to be able to claim some small memento is heartwarming. Anyway, I am looking forward to the trip!
Waters- We have some shallow(er) inland lakes that get quite warm in the summer. (70-80*F). 80 is a bit too warm for my taste. Now, Lake Michigan (the lake that is a five minute walk from my house) hardly EVER gets above 70. If it does, EVERYONE flocks there to swim. Never higher than mid 70s; even in the middle of August heat. It is a good thing. I have noticed that the lakes that are warmer, tend to have a LOT of algae blooms, seaweed blooms, etc. YUCK! Not my thing. We do have some big fish in Lake Michigan and local rivers. Sturgeon, Salmon, Steelhead, Muskie... They can all get quite big (50-70 lb), but they tend to stay out away from the shoreline (where I swim).
Comet Neowise- My sons, Colin and Darren, have been out each night this week taking pics of the stars and the comet. Here are a couple of pics. The ones with the "bright star" and the "cloudy mass" are actually Jupiter (the bright star) and a portion of the core of the Milky Way (the cloudy mass). There is also a shot of the ISS passing over head with the comet in frame as well. The bright light at the bottom of the first pic is our pier, all lit up.
Well, time marches on. I should probably DO something today! LOL ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Today is Invite An Alien To Live With Your Day!
How's that for a weird one? "Invite an Alien to Live with You Day celebrates Mork & Mindy, a television show that starred Pam Dawber as Mindy and Robin Williams as Mork, an alien from the planet Ork whom Mindy invited to live with her. The day takes place on Robin Williams' birthday, so he is celebrated as well. During Mork & Mindy's four year run, 55 to 60 million people tuned in each week to watch it."

My kind of day! Lol

Heather & Faye So relieved that Johnny has taken Faye's vertigo words to heart! Heather just tell him toilet sitting & getting up will be good for gluts and legs.
Faye I don't know much about the border between Oregon and Washington, but I looked on a map and it seems as if there is at least a 150 mile stretch on the Columbia River where the prehistoric sturgeon still swim…
Tracey So nice that you and your husband connected on your 4 day trip. Very beautiful place you live in.
Kay Thinking of you this morning. Many sympathetic ears here if needed.
…
We had a spectacular storm last night here in the Richmond, VA area. Thunder and lightning! 0.5" rain. The world is fresh and clean this morning!

Thought this was interesting:
“ Ratcatcher's Day, Rat-catcher's Day or Rat Catcher's Day is celebrated on 26 June or 22 July, commemorating the myth of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The town of Hamelin in Germany uses the June date[1] and the term "Pied Piper Day".[2] The confusion of dates is because the Brothers Grimm cite 26 June 1284 as the date the Pied Piper led the children out of the town, while the poem by Robert Browning gives it as 22 July 1376. It is a holiday remembering rat-catchers, similar to Secretary's Day and Presidents Day.[3][4]”
It is also National Hammock Day! Enjoy your hammocks!

Katla Yes, UP river!!! I get confused because of the elevation rise from The Dalles to Hood River. The elevation goes up but the river is flowing down. I do have a small place connected to a friend's place near Troutdale to stay, in times of lengthy medical care requiring a PDX specialist. Most times UP the river! Still dreaming of getting a semi to live in so I could spend time all up and down the river. I still have to go to a specialist in Eastern Washington for yearly checkups so such a home would be ideal for me except I cannot drive anymore so I would have to hire a driver. Not sure my union retirement and SS would allow for such extravagance.

Karen Yes, there is a lot of river milage ruled by the underwater dinosaurs that I love and travel every chance I get. 150 miles sounds about right for sturgeon territory.1
-
Dellafayefox: What a grand RV!!!!! I'd love one just like it, but will stay with the old rig we've got until we win the lottery. I expect that to happen about the time water runs uphill when the tide is not coming in.1

Heather Both Dr, John Epley and Dr. F Owen Black should have received the Nobel peace prize along with other honors. Dr. Black worked for NASA and checked all the astronauts before and after space flight. He was the pioneer of the effects of space travel on the human inner ear. He did amazing studies in microgravity. He and Epley perfected the slow drip steroid procedure for controlling full-blown hydrops. Amazing scientist!2

Deliafayefox: I saw a woman walking a black lab toward the St.Helens Marina when I left to pick up my dog from the groomer. Does that match you and your dog? If so, it would be easy to meet in the park at the end of the road. :flowerforyou:0

Actually Tracey this time it was kind of therapeutic! I vacuumed the living room dusted, then lit some jasmine incense, (then I cracked a window), but now I look around and 95% of every surface is clean.👍

Katla there are just a few sayings that have resonated with me, that is one of them.👍. Also the sing songy one:
All will be well and
All shall be well
And all manner of things shall be
Exceedingly well!
(Something like that).

Faye - I dream of making a contribution to human happiness like your doctors. Even writing a wonderful song would do it. I admire great song writers. I retain a forlorn hope that my writings, especially my memoir, will be such a contribution. That is what keeps me going.
I very nearly retrained as a doctor when my children were young and I have a lifelong obsession with all things medical. To be remembered for making other people's lives better seems to me to be a wonderful thing.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -
Faye, oh the Rajneeshee cult, I was working in downtown Portland, and was trying to find a place to live. I had been living in my Dads condo (he was living with a girlfriend but still wanted an "out" if it didn't work out. Plus he owned the condo, so for a couple of months I lived there. I was just trying to get on my adult feet! Anywhoo I worked at us bank mainbranch (such a beautiful building) I will find it and post it. I had found a huge old house in uptown near the library and they had rooms to rent, with even a baby grand piano in the main living room. It was reasonably priced. Before I committed to it, the cult had bought the whole building!
I remember being verbally attacked on a bus going home by 5+ of them. I had asked one why she wore a pendant with his face. Then suddenly I had them all around shouting at me, and I just raced off the bus crying. Crazy red/ purple clad people!
