    Morning Reverie
    (6.50am Wednesday 29 July)

    Contemplate the day ahead.
    Allow the heart to lift.
    Accept each moment mindfully.
    Celebrate its gift.
Make time to let the spirit soar.
    Aspire to reach the heights.
Let joy explode within your soul.
    Enjoy the pure delights.
    When evening shadows lengthen,
    and honest contentment flows,
relax and let the body rest.
    Welcome the repose.

Oh, I began intermittent fasting on my vacation. I am doing an 18:6, seven days a week. I am glad I was able to start it on my vacation because it gave me a week to get used to the "hungries" and not be "hangry" with the kids. I might revise it to 17:7; because now that I am busy in the mornings, I am getting hungry earlier.

Nice! Just know if you get headaches or hungries, a kernel of pink Himalayan salt under the tongue really works wonders! I would feel a whoosh of good feelings, tingly!

Hi everyone. Three weeks ago I had horrible bloodwork and have to have a ct scan on my liver. I was terrified after the blood results and immediately started on a 1200 calorie diet and walking every day. My goal is to lose 30 lbs. So far I have lost 3, but usually I plateau and give up. I am not big on exercise and tend to fizzle out after a while. If only my sewing machine pedal would count for exercise, I would have no worries! Any advice or support to help keep me on track is welcome and most appreciated!

:) Welcome, you can get support here. You have to bring your own motivation which sounds like health concerns would get you seeking a solution. Read what others suggest and find something that you can stick to. Come back to this thread every day for community support and encouragement. Seek opportunities to be active even if you start only with a 15 minute walk in the morning. Others have succeeded and so can you.

Hi all: Supposed to have a guy here this morning to finish cutting down the brush on our berm. DD and I cannot do this as neither of us has a long enough reach to get to all of it. However haven't seen him yet. Got recording done yesterday for virtual choir. Going to be warm here today but better than Monday. I am working on an afghan for my niece but think I have a pattern for crocheting a shawl similar to the one in the picture. Looks as if it would be fairly easy.

Welcome to the newbies. Mag in SD - Where in SD do you live? I moved to WA 5 years ago from Sioux Falls. We lived there over 40 years.

Kim NC - I was cleaning out some of DH's stuff and found a picture of the old historic Danville Hotel. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner there. Is it still in existence?

Heather - Glad DH is feeling better.

Katla - Enjoy that pup as long as you can.

Barbara - Do you have any pet sitters in your area? Maybe check with your vet. We have a lady who comes to take care of horses, goats and cats when both my DD and I need to be gone. She is awesome. If we are just gone for the day she will come over to let the dog out, play with her and give her a few treats.

Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Hooray! I have secured a slot with the grandchildren on Friday at 4.30 for tea and boules/petanque. We have a set, a real set, in the garage. What's the betting Bea loses one. :p We did ask for tomorrow, but their car is having its delayed MOT. I have a cinnamon and apple cake in the freezer from last year :o and I will cook sausages, brioche rolls, and get some cottage cheese for Bea. Make some orange juice lollies. :D All will be socially distanced. Hand washing and sanitizing.
It's going to be hot by British standards, but not as hot here by the sea as inland. Here around 86°. We have quite a lot of shady trees and can put the sun shade up. It's mainly me who doesn't like the heat.

Zoomed the girls today. My difficult friend was late on because a new sofa was being delivered. But she got there! Next week we are deferring because one is off to Bordeaux and one is going to a Scottish island. She is a bit nervous because they are sharing a lodge with her stepdaughter 's family, who haven't been isolating. My friend's husband is 80. Cases are on the rise. Even here. It's a case of Watch This Space. :s

DH still ok. He's back to doing his share of the chores.

Much love to all and welcome new people!

Terri, thanks so much for the little meditation poem. Great things to remember, and put so well!

Heather! just look at that smile! I’d venture to predict a new phone could happen sooner rather than later. Looks like a lovely day, too.

Karen in VA, how my girls loved those things! I could never figure out what was so fun about them, but I dutifully made sure they were replaced when broken. They were always available at the thrift store, thank goodness.

SuziQ, please - where did you find that pattern? I’d like to make it in a lighter weight for summer or over clothes and a heavier one for late fall and winter. I wonder if it’s available in a crochet version. I do both, but crochet is more fun for me.

Melissa in SE WI, you’re very welcome here! I have to say, terror is a decent motivator. Long term it can be hard on your health to be in such distress, but after you begin seeing and feeling the effects of a loss it gets easier. Most of us have had terror of one sort or another in our lives and can relate. Jump in anytime, and don’t feel you need to respond to all of us.

Oh, Allie! Isn’t it annoying to have your appointment delayed. Sometimes it’s because of Covid-19, though, either in a patient who visited, a spike that requires new guidelines, or even a staff member. We never know.

Dear Faye! Isn’t it great to have lived an unconventional life? Other than the fact I had a family mine was completely unlike any other adult women I knew when younger. I only knew one single woman, and she was also the only divorcée. She was invaluable to me along with the WOC who worked for us and was a huge influence on me later in life.

Mag in SD, we’re delighted to have newcomers! Comment on the ones that strike a chord in you, don’t even TRY to reply to everything! At least that’s how I manage!

Pip, I got a chuckle over Kirby’s gift. That took some planning, but I bet they had a blast making it. It speaks to how they think of him as a delightful person.

Oh Lisa! Levi’s eyes say he’s going to be a mischief maker and a heartbreaker. Of course it won’t be his fault, because he’ll have learned manners at your knee, so to speak.

I seem to be getting over my funk a bit. I may go on an outing today!

Heather ~ So glad you are getting to have a tea party with the grands. Your menu sounds delicious.

PIP ~ Love Kirby’s gift...shows how well liked he was.

SusiQ ~ Stay safe if bad weather hits. It sounds like you are truly well prepared for the worst.

Am making salmon patties for dinner and wondering if I can put them in the air fryer without falling apart.

Lisa in AR: Levi is an absolute cutie. I’ll bet he is loaded with personality.

Sue in WA: Thanks for your good thoughts. We will enjoy our old pup as long as possible.

Heather: I’m glad to hear your DH is back to doing his share. I hope he continues to feel better & better. :star:

Allie: Waiting is hard. Seven thirty AM is earlier than I would have expected. I hope it turns out just the way you would like.

Karen in VA: I’m happy your friend had good news from her MRI. Having my gallbladder removed was a huge blessing in my life. I hope it works out as well for her as it did for me. :star:

It is a sunny day and we’re enjoying some quiet time. Schooner seems comfortable and happy today. I hope that is a long term trend.

Just a question, your choice of whether to answer it or not. Do you think children are better looking than when we were children ourselves? Possibly due to better nutrition overall? I would swear there were ugly children around when I was growing up, but I just don't see them now.

OUR grandchildren are, of course, quite special even along those lines ( B) ), but there are one of three choices: A: My cheese is slipping off my cracker, B: I have become that doddering old bat who will soon start pinching children's cheeks, or C: The vast majority of children really are more handsome, prettier, and just easier on the eyes than they were when I was young. What do you think?

SuziQ and Faye ... I admire the way you both approach life! I am more independent than most, but would not put myself in your class!

KarenVA .. glad to hear your friend is doing better.

Terri... I love your latest poem!

Lisa! ... now that I'm done wiping spit off of my screen ... I'll try and answer this one. I caught the devil a few years ago when I commented privately to my husband that the newborn we had just visited was one of the ugliest babies I had ever seen. I heard "all babies are beautiful," beauty is in the eye of the beholder," yada, yada, yada. Truth is, there are some faces only a mother can love and that poor child got all the "ugly" DNA of his parents. Maybe, however, as we age and mature, we are less critical and more sensitive to those who don't match the "look" of the day. We see beauty that we missed when we were younger, when we were too busy comparing ourselves and our children to others. I don't think children are any more beautiful today than in year's past. I think our view has become softened and more gracious. Or "A" ... your cheese is slipping off your cracker. LOL!

    Today is International Tiger Day!

"International Tiger Day, also known as Global Tiger Day, ... is a day to celebrate tigers, to raise awareness for the need for their preservation, and to promote the protection and expansion of their habitats. The day was designated in the St. Petersburg Declaration on Tiger Conservation, which was released on November 23, 2010, during the Global Tiger Summit. ... The summit came out of the need to do something as tigers became more endangered and faced extinction, with some subspecies already being extinct. In the early twentieth century, 100,000 tigers lived in the wild. Their numbers decreased by about 97% in a century and were as low as 3,200. There are now more tigers living in captivity in the United States than there are in the wild in Asia."

Katla - You are right, many vintage sewing machines are real treasures. My sister has Mom's Necchi now, and there's no way either of us could afford a new machine of that quality (if there even IS such a thing). So sorry to hear the news about your pup. I know you'll pack a lot of love into your remaining time with him.

Michele - Ugh, 90 degree pool water!

Terri - Thank you for sharing your Morning Reverie. I need to read it every morning!

Back to work now. Have a good evening, everyone!

Hope everyone is having a great day.
It is cool here at 61degrees with a high of 80 later today.
Waiting on my daycare girl to come in and having more tea(think this is about 4 cups or so- , keep topping off my cup with more hot water) Actually ate breakfast today- usually don't eat anything til noon. Had two mini babybel lights and a cup of fresh blueberries- Smart and Final had the blueberries on sale last night- the large, 16 oz container for just $1.99- bought four, three are in the freezer for later and one I am enjoying- a cup last night for my dessert and a cup now with breakfast. Only 175cal for breakfast.

Will work on more masks again today- picked up more sheets from the thrift store last night, got them washed- Pikachu and my little ponys- was hoping for Disney but happy with these. Need to make extra masks- wasn't thinking when I gave the dc girl's mom all my mask for her to sell at work- need to take four up to my parents tomorrow. Making extra for my aunt.

Looking forward to spending even a few hours with my parents tomorrow- we will stop and do a little shopping on our way up- like to take extra meat, etc to stock their freezer when we find good deals.

Just checked my computer and realized I never hit the submit button for this- a few hours late now.

Had egg salad stuffed cucumbers for lunch and the rest of my blueberries, along with, yep, more tea. 130cal lunch and I am full(didn't count the blueberries beings I counted them at breakfast)

Finished six masks to take up to mom and dad and my aunt.

Now to see how many posts I need to catch up on since this morning.

    Welcome,

    Kylia,[/b]
Tracey already gave you the same advice I've given in situations where you feel you can't abide another person's behavior. What's disturbing you so much is not your SIL's actions, but the fact that she's violating your expectations of how she should behave. When you can bring yourself around to expecting absolutely nothing from your SIL, you will be calmer. Then the few helpful things she does will be a pleasant surprise, and the rest won't make you so upset.

    I just have no words.

    Later y'all,
    Love,
    Lisa

Lisa- I love your comment about lowering expectations!!!
I had to do that with my husband regarding our relationship- It has really helped me to not get so upset/hurt by his actions/lack of actions in most cases.
It has made a calmer me. And yes, when he actually does what I want, it is a great surprise.

wow- I had never heard of that- I will need to try it. I don't feel hungry often, more of boredom snacking, thinking I am hungry. Will pick some up this weekend(may even have some. Does it have to be that type?

This might be the pattern for the shawl with pockets that SuziQ showed us. Sharon: It's crochet! :p

    https://crochet.craftgossip.com/easy-crochet-shawl-scarf-with-pockets/

Also, have you gals ever heard of Ravelry? Free (and inexpensive) knitting/crochet/craft patterns. There are a couple that look similar to the shawl SuziQ showed us:

    https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#query=shawl with pockets

You have to sign up for a free account. I got into the spare closet the other day and was attacked by a cascade of yarn skeins. Maybe I need to finally do something with them.
