He does dye my hair for me already. Not sure I'd let him loose with scissors on it, though.2 -
Yestereday's plan1) clean 15 minutes not done
2) 1 push up not done
3) walk 55 brisk minutes done
4) track all done
5) get eyes checked done
6) 1 hr on writing not yet not done
7) see if I can catch neighbour about balcony bug issue didn't catch her/them
8) start to slowly pack for Friday, started
yesterday was somewhat of a bust. I felt beat and stressed by mid afternoon and sort of vegged out.
I found my distance eyesight has improved as my close up eyesight has gotten worse. My present glasses for seeing far away are too strong!
Today's plan. still keeping the bar low.1) clean 15 minutes yes, at least an hour plus monthly cleaner came for 1.5 hours
2) 1 push up not yet
3) Walk some
4) 1hr on writing not yet
5) washed and waterproofed rain jacket withs specialised product from specialised camping store done but now I see tears around the pocket that I'm pretty sure weren't there before ! thanks product! WTF! not progress! if it wasn't a reputable store (type EMS in usa) I would think it was done intentionally to force consumption. A black spot that looked washable turned into a pink one that looked like dark purple of jacket came out and left pink...
6)finally got Covid test before visiting my 65 year old friend on Friday.i don't think I have it but feel better going to someone's home overnight after having been tested. will get results in 24 hours at latest. I went at 7:30 this morning for opening at 8am and was out at 9:05. not so bad. i was able to get en espresso take away and noted somethings in my agenda and looked at the clouds speeding by, etc. during the waiting time. the weather was fine for waiting in line.7) Do 2 or 3 things to take care of rental apartment 1.
8) See if I can make appointment with office paper helper person for after I get back
9) Change day of dermatology appointment not yet
10) bought rare button and thin elastic and brought to clothes alterer's to sew and fix a shirt and dresss for 10 euros done For the button I could do it but after many many many months of not doing it I prefer paying 2.50 for the button.for the elastic on the dress it's longer, would take at least 20-30 min I think and I'm not sure if I'd do it properly.
11) track all so far so good.
I really think it could be good to go and order glasses today, as it takes 10days for progressives but I'm gonna put that down as a maybe for today.

Machka - Seeing the words is indeed a jolt. So sorry. He certainly has the right partner in you. :flowerforyou:
One of the things that startled me into my healthy regime was seeing the word Obese staring at me from the doctor’s screen. No one had ever used that word to me.
Is there a chance of getting a final settlement for his injury so you can travel around a bit when restrictions are lifted? It seems like now is the time.

We have been trying and we continue to try. I've put hours upon hours of work into it. But it isn't up to us ... it's not our choice.

Jake has an appointment with the eye doctor this morning. He wants me to go because they will probably dilate his eyes to check on the floaters that have been bothering him for months and he'll need me to drive him home. I don't want to sit in their waiting room for a variety of reasons including the very uncomfortable chairs so I'll take my headphones and go for a walk and he can call me when he needs his ride. The doctor's office is in a pleasant neighborhood that is unlikely to have many people on the sidewalks.
Pip, you and Kirby are certainly making your new house a "home".

KIM ~ So happy for the time you had with your niece! So glad you have her and her brother to love.
PIP ~ The patio looks great. Is the greenery over the fence real? Y'all really made a difference there.
LISA & OTHERS ~ I have really wondered about hanging the wet clothes on the line...do you have to iron them when you bring them in? I don't think I could do that cause I absolutely hate to iron.
HAIR: I used to wash my hair every other day; but, now it's about every 5 days. I did not use gel on it the other day and now it's hanging like a messy bunch of straw.

I don't.
If you wear button-up cotton shirts, you might, but I try to avoid those things. They're not comfortable and there's ironing.
However, you can improve your odds even with those button-up cotton shirts by tugging top and bottom to straighten things out as much as possible, and buttoning them up, and making sure the collars, cuffs and bottoms are straight, and running your hands down them quickly to smooth out most of the wrinkles. They're usually OK then if you don't mind the very slightly wrinkly look.
But most of what I wear handles hang drying just fine. If it has dried a bit crease-y and I want to wear it the next day, I'll hang it in the bathroom and when I have my shower the steam takes out the creases.

Ha! No, I do not iron. That said, yes, many clothes come off the line quite wrinkled.
However, I don't personally wear shirts that wrinkle, and in all honesty, my husband simply doesn't care whether it's wrinkled, as he will be greasy and dirty within moments of getting to work, so a wrinkle or two is a moot point.
When for some reason, I want my husband's work shirts to look reasonably decent, I've found one workaround is to take them in from the line and put them in the dryer with a clean, damp cloth for just a few minutes. The wrinkles fall out easily, and the shirts still smell like sunshine.3 -

No, the last piece was what we were waiting for before I took the pic, we didn’t buy enough. I saw it on FB and those it would be better than looking at a patio wall3 -
Heather his name was Chandra Mohan Jain, then Acharya Rajneesh, then Bhagwan Shri Rajneesh, and later Osho. Some of us older around here still call him the Bag Weenie.1

Oh no! Just noticed temp is 69 and no breeze and sun beating down.
I must go walk now. The 5 miles I have walked with my fingers this AM
don't count for anything but inflamed hemorrhoids. Up and at it!

Barbie: That is a cheerful and lovely blanket for Project Linus.
Kim: I had two special Aunties in my life. One was my mom’s sister and the other was my dad’s sister. Auntie Irene seemed to know me better than anyone, including my parents. I loved horses and reading. She bought horse books for me. They were Caldecot Award winners that featured horses. Your niece and nephew are lucky to have a wonderful Auntie like my Auntie Irene, who understands and appreciates who they are.
Heather: 60 MPH winds have enormous power. I hope that your roof was not damaged. When I was a teen we lived through an enormously powerful windstorm on October 12. It was Columbus Day in 1962. I was in Jr High, and the school sent us home early. No busses, we all had to walk. Our house lost a few shingles but was not seriously damaged. Dad was stuck at his office on the other side of the river. Mom & I saw a neighbor’s roof blow off in the storm. They were traveling. After the wind came torrential rain for long enough to really make a mess out of the roofless house. It made a permanent memory for me. I can still see it in my mind’s eye. :ohwell:
Delia: Thanks for the info on the eye drops.
Machka: I hope you’re able to stop grinding your teeth. Broken teeth are worrisome.
It is time to take our dog to the groomer. She does a great job with him.

@heather the cauliflower cake looks good! I was thining it was gonna be sweet like carrot cake etc...1

Machka - Hope your brother and family are safe from the storm.
Will your husband's latest MRI make any changes for his workers comp for permanent disability so that he can be left alone about returning to work? I hope there comes a time, where they just pay out a settlement or agree to life long payments?
Kim - I am so happy for you that you had a great day with your Goddaughter and had your hug reserves filled. I envy the relationship you have with your Godchildren. I have 3 and I ended up losing touch with them for years because of their Mother (long story). We are all friends on FB but I haven't seen one of them since her wedding in 2012, the other 2 I saw last year. We love each other but are not close. They are 34, 32 and 24.
I suffered from depression after our youngest was born, I didn't know what was wrong and was never properly diagnosed. It wasn't until she was 5 that I finally came out of it, I don't remember anything about her first year really, even when I look at pictures I can't remember.
Lisa - Thank you. The last two days were great days at work, my boss actually stopped and asked me why I have been so quiet. I didn't tell her that it's because I'm scared to say or do the wrong thing. Other than that she has been quite happy, if we had this personality all of the time it would be wonderful, but you never know when the other personality will surface. She is on holidays starting today until Sept 8th, so it should be good for a couple of weeks.
I hope your sciatica stops acting up soon.
Barbie - I hope you have a pleasant walk. Here in Alberta we couldn't sit in a waiting room anyway. We would have to drop off. My coworkers son broke his ankle on Friday night, he is 18. She wasn't allowed to go into the emergency department with him and had to drop him off on Monday morning for surgery to have screws put in. She had a long day of worry.
Carol - Happy Anniversary!
I remember my mother bringing clothes in off the line and then ironing all the next day. She even ironed her sheets and dishtowels. Like you, I hate ironing and buy clothes that don't wrinkle or make sure they are hung as soon as they come out of the dryer.
I think I have mentioned that I have been reading my Mom's diaries and am planning on writing a book for my girls using her diaries, my grandmother's diaries and then my own memory of certain dates that mean something to me. Anyway, I have read 4 years worth now and am learning things about myself that I don't care for.
In 1982 when I was 14 my Dad had an accident and severely cut his eye losing all but 5% of his vision in it. I remember this and one of the things that he had to do was wear a contact to protect the eye after the surgery. I read in Mom's diary in 1986 that Dad had had a follow up appointment with the surgeon and he was finally able to stop wearing the contact. He did regain about 60% of his vision back in that eye over the years. I texted my daughter and said I didn't remember Dad having to wear his contact for that long. Then I realized that maybe if I had stayed home more often I would have known what was happening in the house.
Last night I was telling Rodger that I didn't feel I was a very good daughter growing up because I was never home, that I bet if I was to write down what nights I was away from home vs what nights I was home I would have been away more often than not. He said, well you must have been unhappy there for some reason, but that doesn't make you a bad daughter. I said, well the worse was that I would call Mom to take me from one house to another but still not go home. He said, that does make you pretty selfish.
I have had this conversation stuck in my head all evening and even through the night I dreamt about it. I don't remember being unhappy, I loved my parents, wasn't abused and had my grandparents living right next door. In all of my thinking I have come to the realization that it had nothing to do with them, it was the house that I was trying to avoid. The house I grew up in was my Great Grandparents house it probably should have been condemned. There was no running hot water, no bathtub or sink in the bathroom. The walls were plaster and lathe with only newspapers from 100 years before as insulation. It was cold in the winter and full of flies in the summer. We had wood heat, there was a furnace but we couldn't afford oil for it. My Dad worked hard all of his life, usually all day and then at someone's house doing repairs in the evening. Mom only worked outside the home one Winter that I remember. So in all of my thinking, I came to the conclusion that I was more comfortable at others houses and that makes me feel ashamed that I robbed my parents of time with me.
Well I should actually do some work, since that is what I'm being paid for.

Bananas - No, it's very cheesy. More like a quiche, except it has a small amount of flour in it. Rosemary and basil for extra flavour. I used to make the 10 inch one and it was HUGE, but great for a crowd.
While I was searching in my file for the cake I came across an old favourite I haven't made for years - Eggplant sticks, from Skinnytaste. Definitely going to make those again. Strange how I've completely forgotten about them.
Tracey - Just want to say, you are a GOOD person. You were protecting yourself in the only way you knew how. You were a child. Yes, you were. We all try to do our best with what we are given. Just love that child. She was in survival mode. Embrace her.
I Zoomed my girlfriends this afternoon. My friend who organised it was in the National Gallery in London, cowering in a corner, trying to look inconspicuous, sans mask. It worked OK. One other in France. One other in Edinburgh. Wonderful world.
Then it was grandchildren Zoom time. Usual chaos! They had been on holiday clubs,so hadn't finished the quizzes. But they still chatted to us. I caught a glimpse of the au pair in the distance, who is called Dana. She has had a negative covid test.
Max played the piano and my son dragged Edie out of the door for trying to distract him. It was very funny. Then he showed us his Fitbit watch he had swapped for the robot dog we bought him for his birthday. He explained every function in detail. Edie recounted the wind surfers they had seen doing acrobatics in the waves. Bea talked about food as usual. We threatened to give her cauliflower cake. Wonderful, glorious chaos!
The weather may cheer up next week,so we hope they can come round for a garden visit again midweek.
Now to make a nice, garlicky, tomato salad to go with the cake.

Praying for the folks on the Gulf Coast. The hurricane is expected to hit land around mid-night at a category 3. Storm surge may be as high as 20 feet!4
