    Good morning/afternoon/evening to all.

So, I just got an email that today is "National Underwear Day" in the U.S. I wonder if it means giving underwear the day off??

Kylia - Try less meat overall and switch to egg whites. Also avoid processed meats. The mister takes Red Yeast Rice tablets, which are apparently a natural statin. Probably similar to flax seed tablets. His doctor recommended it because he wouldn't take a statin.

To those in the storms, stay safe!

    Hugs to all in need.

Alle So sorry to hear about the theft. Very sad that some use a disaster to steal and loot others' property.

Heather It all sounds yummy except the arugula. I developed a dislike for it, swiss card, beet greens, and the likes many years ago as my folks had a large garden and loved pickling arugula. I can still smell that awful stench. Now the wild boar, especially Iberian in a paella with prawns and select veggies, a bottle of wine, and we are talking a party!

Barbara Awesome that you do Tai Chi. I just do the basic move with deep breathing and my own mantras. I do it right after rising and on my patio in the dark wearing only a sports bikini. Wintertime I don my Lole long sports pants and jacket. Someday I must learn some more moves.

Did part of the Dressed Up Drills today. The plan for tomorrow is to do the Keep It Up DVD

    Tracey
    – lovely welcome sign. Your husband did a great job

    Pip
    – great find on that furniture

    Allie
    – so sorry for your friend. That’s terrible!

Barbie – so glad the appointment went well. This is much better than going there, huh?

Went to Aldi this morning. I really like going early in the day when it isn’t nearly as crowded. Decided what we’re going to have for dinner next week and got that out of the freezer. Also decided on the exercise I’ll do next week. Got dinner ready to be microwaved.

Faye – I think you did wonderful on the haircut. I don’t have the courage to do it myself, so I give you lots of credit

Does anyone know of a fly trap that works. Our main restriction is that it can’t be something that the cats can knock over (we can put it on top of the washing machine…probably)

Ginger – welcome! I hear ya about the going bonkers. So am I. I’ve made two tree skirts for gifts, a tree skirt for us, popped 3 bags of popcorn and strung 2-1/2, made a blanket for a friend, a scarf for another friend, a shawl for another friend, a blanket for the soup kitchen, four diamond dotz all framed, now I’m working on making these crochet towel toppers. My next project will be a x-stitch one. Not to mention that EVERYTHING got cleaned (even the top of the freezer!). So glad for the pool!

M in Oz Well it is an easy fix compared to other causes of inner ear problems, but as in your case balancing hormones can be difficult. There is no doubt other factors and finding these factors is difficult and expensive and then treating the other factors can present problems. In general vertigo from hormone imbalance can be treated at a higher rate of success than other disorders causing vertigo. BPPV is probably the easiest using the maneuver. For example, a viral cause damaging the inner ear is very hard to control and treat as opposed to hormone imbalance. I didn't mean to downplay hormone caused vertigo because many times it is just a trigger for an underlying cause like endolymphatic Hydops and treating Hydrops can become very involved. I hope I didn't offend you and I should have said: "sometimes an easy fix if no other underlying conditions." VEDA used to have a page written by a Nurse Practioner that was an expert on hormone triggered vertigo. I saw her many times and I think she had a falling out with an expert, a guy, that claimed that hormones had little to no effect on causing vertigo and wrote it all off as Meniere's Disease with little hope just lower sodium and take a valium. I know for a fact that menopause attacks did trigger my Endolymphatic Hydrops and eventually controlling the hydrops took care of the problem I still had the hot flashes and felt like I was burning alive, but no vertigo from it. Have you ever been tested for Endolymphatic Hydrops? Originally doctors said my hot flash vertigo was from MS, but once the MS diagnosis was overturned I was sent to Northwest Neuro-otologist and the rest is history.

Barbara: Congrats on good medical news! I’ve been taking alondrate for several years and my bone density is holding its own. I chose the weekly tablet rather than daily doses. You take the tablet with water and have to sit upright for half an hour while it is dissolved into your blood stream. I didn’t want to do that on a daily basis. Once a week works better for me. :noway:

Lisa in AR: Ramble all you want. I think you’re on the right track. “ . . . and then keep doing this for the rest of my life.” :star:

Barbie: Congrats on Jake’s video appointment with the cardiologist. Good news on his stability. :flowerforyou:

M in OZ: Low hormone levels are easier to fix than high ones. I’m sorry that you have to put up with it every month. :ohwell:

Allie: It seems that you’re in a better situation for power than many others. We haven’t been able to contact our kids in MD today. We’re assuming their power is out. :ohwell:

Ginger: Welcome to a great group of supportive women, you sweet young thing.

Tina: I’m not giving my undies the day off. :noway:

Faye: I like the haircut, too. I cut my own hair around my face in the front, but have left the back to grow. So far, so good.

I just got a call from the groomer Time to go get my dog.

SueBDew ~ Your doctor's kind words were so inspiring. So glad you are recovering and wish you continued good health. <3

Barbie ~ Like your shirt and your smile! :)

I go back to the ENT again tomorrow and do hope I can get more help with my ear. Have to have a second hearing test and pretty sure it won't be much better than the first.

SuebDew - Your doctor was wise. <3

Faye Love all green stuff, yum, yum, but not nearly as much as my DH. He has to have a big pile of veggies every day. Cabbage is his dream food! I have to veto it occasionally. I can eat arugula out of the packet. :D

Carol - Marrow is a big zucchini really. It used to be very popular when i was a child. Sometimes with cheese sauce. I have to say this evening 's one was PERFECT with the highly flavoured ragu. Heaven!

Looking forward to the TV tonight. Things I like. :D I will go upstairs for an hour to watch.

We have a heat warning for Friday. It's not usually as bad on the coast as in London.

Bananas - Whereabouts on the coast are you? <3

Anyone who knows a bit of German, (Katla) , I'm enjoying a video series called Easy German. The group is great fun. Very informal.

    Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Rebecca It is interesting how many other problems can trigger inner ear problems. The liver can really play heck with other organs and can cause endolymph surges. Old age can also cause endolymph surges and imbalance as our inner ear balance mechanisms deteriorate. Your hubs sound like a tough guy that has been through a lot. If vertigo and vomiting ever return, once he can get to bed have him lay elevated at 35-40 degrees with his head looking up at the ceiling and hold it still and apply a folded cold wet rag to his forehead and over his eyes and keep it refreshed for hours if necessary. It is a slice of heaven that my old neighbor a retired paramedic did for me when he saw me have a drop attack on my patio and once the vomiting stopped and my head felt like it would explode, applied this simple therapy and stayed until a friend could arrive. Another great thing I learned from him was don't go to the toilet to vomit, use a large zip lock bag wipe your mouth and put in the tissue and zip it up, once full put it in another bag like plastic grocery bag and tie it up and dispose of it. No mess no smell no big clean up like using a wastebasket. Also easy to sit up and get back down without leaving the bed. I pass these tips along in hopes of helping someone as I was helped. Enjoy that precious great-grandchild. I love holding babies and making funny sounds to make them laugh.

We have a couple of the hospital's blue accordion sick bags. I think he's pretty good healthiest these days thank God. It was crazy back then, the years worth of stent work. With the two parts of the duct plumbing not lined up, getting plugged, he would get sick, then turn jaundice, his indicator button that his liver was not working. The doctors were hoping with every stent procedure, that it would stretch that area of plumbing that was mostly scar tissue. Sadly scar tissue doesn't stretch, and in fact one procedure nicked his bile duct so he had a bile bag on his hip for awhile. This was him before his procedure on Feb 2018, where the same doctor that did his transplant, mainlined his liver to his intestines. In their words they wanted the same person that had seen his insides before. In my brain I see the doctor going, "oh yes, by this part we make a left turn". I will hide these pics for anyone squeamish.👍

Pip, the furniture sounds like a great deal! Did you have to sign any sort of contract, or just a straight purchase agreement. I have a habit of looking inexpensive furniture in the mouth and making it say “Aaaahhh!”.

Carol I took small barber scissors and used a hand mirror looking into the big mirror and just hacked away. Then used my electric leg shaver at an angle and just sort of thinned it using the cutter front. Seriously I had to shut one eye to get the other to focus due to glaucoma causing shadows and double vision. I was very lucky it is presentable.

Looks great. My younger sister did the same thing. First time drastically cutting her own hair(did it for a living but on OTHERS for years). I cut my own too BUT the big difference is mine is very long, down to the middle of my butt when wet and very curly. I put it in a braid, cut an inch off and I am done- can't mess it up. I can not imagine having short hair with all this curl
