I did quite a bit of work around the house today.. which has been a wreck ,just no gumption to so much of anything.. but blew the leaves from the patio which came down in the storm... got some of my room cleaned up and my laptop set up again.,got garbage and recycling out to the dumpster and got some of the kitchen picked up...
Have Taliah today... and she is being her usual 12 yr old self..2 -
Underground haircut! I almost felt like I was part of an underground resistance movement. It was exciting and empowering that these ladies have taken action to keep their business alive and mortgages paid without conflict and fighting the Governor and hiring lawyers. They simply moved their shop to their semi-basement back storage area with no windows and left two stations upfront on the main street with a closed by Governors order sign. A phone call when you arrive. A stroll down an alley and a few stairs down and you are let in through a solid steel door and behold an awesome super sanitary setup, each station 15 feet apart with plexiglass dividers, and shelves dividing two sides loaded with product. They can be open to sell product, but not cut hair. They wore face shields and surgical grade gloves and it was a very interesting and inspiring experience. I had my hair cut way short so I could get the style I want in a couple of weeks. I had it very hacked and uneven with my self cuts.
I left with a great haircut, just very short and a bottle of complimentary product.6 -
Rita - The coffee in Norway is not brilliant, but you can refill your cup.
Lisa - Thank you for the thumbs up! Lovely to be appreciated. I'm not exactly sure what I've done to deserve it, but I'll take it.
Barbara, Carol, Glad the health worries are diminishing. Getting older isn't for wimps.
Made an appointment with a different sanding company for Thursday estimate. The one we previously tried has gone out of business I think! This one is just around the corner. Google filled in the old wrong address for me on Checkatrade and I didn’t notice, so she thought I was 75 miles away instead of just around the corner. Ooops!
She said they could move furniture for an extra fee.
Also got a butcher's delivery tomorrow. They have actually reopened at last, but it's easier to just ring up and they deliver. Especially as I want 12 skinned and boned chicken thighs in 3 separate packets. That will take them a few minutes! Also 2 lamb neck fillets, 2 veal escalopes. Plus frozen chicken livers, but they come in a pot. They are just around the corner and happy to have survived lockdown. They delivered throughout.
I go to a small supermarket about once in two weeks, if that. Our small shops have most things, including organic veg and artisan bread, with only one or two masked people in there. I have a bigger delivery on Saturday from Waitrose, with a few of their special items unobtainable locally. I am addicted to their charcoal grilled artichokes. And their buffalo mozzarella from the wilds of Hampshire where we used to live.

I have just started using red onions in my coleslaw, my egg salad sandwiches, my pan meals, my soups, and my tacos! It really bumps up the flavor!💖

Good evening!
Got my groceries picked up. I have berries, but no yogurt.....good thing daughter was heading to different store for her family. She said she would see if they had it for me.😉 My son in law will just bring to shop tomorrow. I will go to chewy and order dog food. Oh, I have cream cheese but no bagels......oh well. I can't wear a mask and our governor has said shields are not acceptable, so I make sure with what I can click list. Oh, maybe i can make zucchini bread tonight, then i will have something for my cream cheese 😁
My husband's sister has had a rough couple of years and even tougher couple of months. It is sad, but today I thought it would make a great country song... husband slept with(former) best friend, mom got sick and died, close friend died, now dog died. It really has been tragic, but is beginning to sound like a country song. Oh, she just bought Mom's old Corvette. I knew if she didn't my husband would have.
Someone made a comment about too much furniture (sorry on phone and can't look back) We have TOO MUCH furniture!!! Heck, we have 5 china cabinets alone. I would get rid of most of them but husband has too many keep things. I keep thinning mine out. Fall is coming which equals hunting season which equals more downsizing of my stuffs! He gets upset when I get rid of things. SMH!
He is out of his appointment. More later!
❤

We put cream cheese on toast and dab some jam/jelly on it. Quite tasty. I also put it in cloud eggs.
I also just found a recipe for apple cider loaf bread that I will be making before the weekend. Also great with cream cheese.
Wow, your SIL sure has had a country song come true. Poor gal. Best wishes to her and the family.

Obviously, I am perusing cooking websites. I'm looking for recipes that can be eaten easily on a boat with some wave action. Ideas welcomed.

Hello ladies! I had a great time on my date with Steven. I met him at a waterfront restaurant with a huge deck with spaced out tables. We wore masks except when seated at the table. He told me a lot about his friends - hope there is no quiz! We shared firecracker shrimp, then I had fish tacos. Note to self - avoid messy tortillas on a date!
We agree/match on religion, politics, education, travel and creativity. Too bad we live three hours apart. But in the age of Covid, so much of life is online anyway. I'm really looking forward to getting to know him better. Yay!
So now to address that little problem of the extra weight that made it so hard to find an outfit. My motivation is high again, so let's hope I can build better habits.

Debbie ... so sad about the young man at Safeway ...
SuziQ ... you are right that these atrocious actions have almost become commonplace ...
Faye ... my hairdresser retired during lockdown so I too went after my hair with scissors ... and also received a very short haircut from my new hairdresser as a result ... LOL! It's only hair and mine grows exceedingly fast.
Had my annual with the GYN today. I'd missed last year for some reason I now don't recall. I was expecting a pap smear and the doctor told me I didn't need one until next year ... they're only recommended every 3 years unless the patient requests one. Well this patient requested one! Besides not knowing what might happen in a year (and then I'd end up being over the 3 year recommendation), I think the whole idea is not a good one. My mother (83 at the time) was asked by her GYN a few years back when was she going to stop having pap smears. My mom's response ... "when I'm ready to die from cancer." The very next year she tested positive for cervical cancer ... had a hysterectomy... and just celebrated her 89th birthday. I don't get these testing recommendations at all!
We just had a summer rain with the sun shining through ... incredible double rainbow spanning the sky. Everyone who knows me has texted! LOL! My rainbow reputation. I'm thinking we could all benefit from seeing rainbows this year ...

Did the firm Maximum Cardio DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a spinning workout.
Kylia – leo and aubrey…AWWWWW Speaking of chewy: that reminds me of a meme we saw. There’s a UPS truck where the driver is looking for a package. Then you see a dog rared up on the bumper saying “it’s a package that says ‘Chewy’ on it”
Went in the pool, made chocolate bran muffins, started cleaning since Jess left (you know how it is – bed made, sheets and blankets washed, that sort of stuff. Plus, she had her computer and stuff in the back bedroom so that room needs to be cleaned, too. Basically, got that room in order.), had dinner, now here
Tracey – I miss the free samples, too. So many times I’ve bought something since I was able to try it and I knew that someone will like it.
Carol GA – yippee! For your results
Anne DE – I’m so happy for you that your date worked out so well
So Portland, Oregon was almost named Boston!

Interesting article ...
"These are the likely long-term impacts on gatherings, travel, eating, medicine, home life and even public restrooms"
Mostly good changes. Mostly changes that needed to happen.
One that they don't specifically mention is that accommodations (hotels, motels, etc. etc.) will actually have to clean the room!! Like actually vacuum around the edges ... or better remove that horrible carpeting all together and lay down hard surfaces. The awful bedspreads and the blankets that capture hair and leave it for the next guest should be gone. They'll be replaced by the Asian system of sheets ... clean, white sheets. Someone might actually clean the bathtubs and showers, especially behind those disgusting shower curtains ... hopefully they'll be replaced with something that can be cleaned better.
Restaurants and fast food places might clean too!

Pip: Lower left, Santa—is Santa made from wax? I have one that looks just like yours and it is made of wax. I’ve had it in my Christmas decorations for decades. I like the dogs, too. Your new place has wonderful light and looks comfortable & a place where you can settle in and get to know your new hometown.
Machka: Change is constant and ongoing. It always has been. There are many who enjoy imagining and predicting. Anyone calling themselves “market watch” is someone who thrives on change and hopes to make a profit. I like the notion that restaurants and fast food places might be clean.
Today was a good day. I got to go trail riding on Arrow along with my teacher, her young horse in training and her dog. My dog stayed home with DH and both of them got a bit of rest.

Yes ... some changes are subtle, others more dramatic.
I like to think I'm one who thrives on change. There has been so much that needed changing leading up to this year. Nice to see some of it happening.

Our new normal, until there is a vaccine, is that we can't hug, touch, or even get really close to our grandchildren. That is my only real sadness. Everything else is just an inconvenience.
This week we have to keep well away until the new au pair has been tested early next week. Even then we are not going to share a indoor table with the family if we go out. And sit at the end.
Machka - the picture in your link of the woman holding hands with the grandchildren made me sad.
We live in one of the lowest community transmission areas of the country. But, I am not going anywhere, even to a big shop. I am not going on holiday, to an indoor cafe, on public transport, seeing anyone except my friend who has had it, no clubs. It's just me and DH. I haven't been in the car since December 31st. There is nowhere to go. I hate cars anyway. I haven't driven for 2 years and DH isn't confident at the moment. I really can't imagine going anywhere ever again! Luckily we like each other, our house, and our local area. We like our brain work that we do every day, writing, reading, TV, study, research. Adventures of the mind. We like our exercises and the sea, but i haven't been down to the sea for about 2 weeks. Too hot, then not well. My lower abdomen is still not right, so I can't run.
Roll on the vaccine, but I will then have to retrain myself to engage with the outside world again. That seems like flying to the moon!
Love Heather, who is grateful for her inner resources. xxxxxxxx UK5 -
Down here, we are engaging with each other and the outside world (within Tasmania) but we're being strongly encouraged to "Keep up the Five"!

I rang the doctor this morning because my lower abdomen pain wasn't going away. Got through to them quickly, which was amazing. They said they could offer me a telemed call this evening, but I wanted a wee test, so they said they'd get back to me. I said call the home phone, because the mobile doesn't ring for long and I miss it.
Of course they called the mobile!
Anyway, I'm expecting a telemed call this morning. How they diagnose a uti without a wee test is beyond me! I have ordered a set of wee sticks from Amazon, which should arrive tomorrow. Useful for the future, though they do have a use by date.
I have been taking D-Mannose tablets daily, which, until now has fended off any niggles, but not this one.
I've nearly completed my exercises. Just the floor to go and I'm taking a rest.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx
By the way, the river cruise refund is in my credit card account. Unfortunately I've got to ring them to transfer it to my current account. For some reason you can't do it online. I was all ready to ring Saga and shout at them, because I couldn't see the money in our current accounts.4 -
