@rheddmobile
I sent a friend request. I probably need to join a team. I'm not sure I can do 26.2 miles this week. I apologize for the late request.1 -
Finally got out for the month. Started way late. It was 100° at 9 am so 1.75 miles. I was hoping for a 5k 🤷🏼♀️
1.75/1.75 (I have no goal so gonna be cumulative here)6 -
Well done everyone, I’m enjoying reading all your updates. Bit late checking in but have had a great month so far. Ran 5km on Friday 4th and 10km today (6th). Aiming for 60km over September so 15/60 completed.
I also started doing a few yoga stretches and breathes through the week. Not sure if they are helping my running yet but watch this space!6 -
@Tramboman Sounds like 5:15 is a reasonable time for you. I think you can meet your stretch goal too. I'm rooting for you. As for me, I just want to get the distance in and hope to complete it under the 6 hour cutoff for the actual marathon. I'm just going to take my miles easy - especially the two long runs I plan to do.2

I did another easy pace 3 mile run this morning. I'm saving my long run until tomorrow so I can do two long runs during "marathon week" to ensure I get the mileage in. I didn't get out until 8:00, but it was really nice today, almost chilly. It was 59°F and 88% humidity. I did a lot better on mile 3 today, mentally, even though I did still count down the laps. LOL Other than that, nothing remarkable to add. Just got it done.
Also 4/20 walking.6 -
9/1 – 6 with Champ
9/2 – 3 with Champ
9/3 – 5 miles
9/4 – 3 miles of trail climb with Champ
9/5 – 7 miles
9/6 - 5
29 of 115 miles4 -

PastorVincent memorial challenge group update:
The challenge hound 26 mile virtual challenge begins tomorrow! We have 14 teams signed up now, and it looks like everybody who received a link has registered for the challenge. There’s still time to join if you want to - since challengehound automatically backfills mileage from Strava that was done during the challenge dates, you can join up until 24 hours before the end of the challenge.
I’m still waiting to hear back from a handful of people about what name they want to display on the leaderboard. If I don’t hear from everyone by tomorrow I am putting your forum usernames as your default team name. Please let me know if you haven’t yet contacted me about your team name and want something different!
The leaderboard should display icons on a road map showing where each team is on the Boston Marathon course. Just for fun I thought I would share this map showing some of the famous spots along the course such as “Heartbreak Hill.”
I’ve been thinking about random acts of kindness. On the one hand, Covid isolation makes it harder since we interact with fewer people. On the other hand, it makes it easier since more people are in need of kindness.5 -
I have sent you a message earlier today @rheddmobile and would like to do this1

I didn’t get a message, looks like MFP ate it because we hadn’t friended each other first. You should have a friend request from me now, accept it and I’ll get your link to you!0 -
@rheddmobile Thanks for sharing the map. That's pretty cool. I haven't actually thought about acts of kindness yet. Humm. Maybe just look for opportunities when they arise.

September Goal: 100 Miles
9/1: 6.22 miles
9/2: 5.05 miles
9/3: 6.06 miles
9/6: 10.11 miles
27.44/100 miles completed for September
972.67/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders
I had pretty nice run this morning. I should have gotten up earlier, but it is so much harder to get up early on Sunday than it is on the weekdays. I finally got out the door around 7:30. It was 68°F at the start which was nice but it warmed up to about 77°F by the time I got home. It was a pretty morning though and I ran 10 miles and I had my new shoes so I am hoping that will help my achy feet. I didn't see much wildlife today other than a few squirrels. I didn't see a lot of birds either, but I did see a red tail hawk and a couple of monarch butterflies. Dove season has started and I heard lots of gunshots in the distance. I usually see a lot of dove, but I think all the birds were keeping a low profile today. One odd thing that I saw was horse shoe prints going down a residential street. I run a couple of roads where I wouldn't think that it was odd to see horse prints, but I wouldn't have expected to see them where I saw them.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a rest day, but there is rain in the forecast later in the week so I may run in the morning. I think I will just play it by ear, but since this is the week of the @PastorVincent vs. Boston challenge I want to make sure I get all my miles in.New Shoes!

Just a short run to save the run streak after another long hiking and driving day.
We did a sunrise hike of Whiteface and Esther Mountains today for peaks #16 & 17 of the Adirondack 46 High Peaks. Or at least we attempted to. We left home around 11 pm, started hiking at 3:15 am and summited Whiteface after a long hike in the dark at about 6:15 am. While the sun came up, we didn't get to see much of it because of fog. It was also really cold up there! We did catch some amazing glimpses as the clouds rolled in an out and the fog began to lift. Edited - hopefully these pics under spoilers work:We were freezing - it was about 40ish degrees up there and windy and wet from the fog. As we started heading down, the clouds were clearing and it was becoming a beautiful day. We headed over to Mt. Esther, which took us another 2.5 hours or so. We had a good view of Whiteface where we had just been from that summit. We headed back down and the hike out was tough and seemed eternal as always. But we finished by about 12:30 pm, which was about 9 hours of total time, including our stopping time to take in the views, eat, etc. We stopped for food and headed back home. This was the earliest finish time of any of the hikes all summer which was great (except for the part where we got no sleep an started at 3:15 am). Home about 5:30 and then I had to gather up the energy for my run-streak saving run. It was not so bad, compared to some of the other post-hike runs I've endured.

@TheMrWobbly @katharmonic @RunsOnEspresso I don’t have any pending friend requests, it looks like they may not be going through for some reason. I sent one to each of you.
If you don’t see one from me we are going to have to figure out another way of getting in touch. If you are already friends with someone in the challenge I can send them your link and they can pass it to you, or in the last resort we can try posting links on the MFP challenge group for an added layer of privacy and then deleting them.0 -

Great pics, @katharmonic! Too bad it was so foggy. We had some great views from Whiteface last time we visited.
Thanks everyone for the picture compliments and well wishes for my dad. He is in ICU awaiting surgery, but he sounded a lot better when i talked to him yesterday than the day before.

Hey, it wouldn’t be like being a real race director if there were no technical issues!
@eleanorhawkins started us off this morning, first on the leaderboard, and I discovered another issue: right now, according to our map we are all running Boston BACKWARDS! I have contacted the support for the map and hopefully it will be fixed soon. I’m picturing @PastorVincent looking down on us and having a good laugh.11
