It's amazing what people go through that isn't obvious to the outside world. You're all so strong!
My hardest back-to-running injury was a torn labrum. They dislocated my hip and filed down the top of my femur. I've also had a couple of knee surgeries, but the hip one was harder to come back from. Although, what's hurt my running the most was/is years of off and on planter fasciitis.
So far for October I'm 14.57/60. I'm planning a run this afternoon, but the forecast calls for high 80's, I may end up indoors on the treadmill.6 -
@WandaVaughn do it!
@Branawesomer YEAHHHHHH DO IT!
@eleanorhawkins I've never had the toe thing like you have. I'm hoping i don't. It sounds truly awful. And I am so sorry about your father. If you can't run, maybe bike. bike therapy isn't exactly the same, but it might help?
... I never did get that nap. Work all day, then had to pick up my son because he has a stuffy nose and that's a covid symptom............................................ he's perfectly fine this morning, but had to keep him home as a precautionary measure.
Then, Nick didn't feel like going home after work so he came to our house - dinner and then his car shifter wouldn't budge. Well, I can be very arrogant and tenacious, so I decided that his stupid caddie cannot beat me. So I / we tore apart his dash looking for the lever underneath the shifter. Yours truly was able to manipulate a wrench to make the shifter shift. I hope they buy a new car soon.
But here is some good news. I saw this when I was driving to pick my daughter up after work and I stopped breathing and forgot how to drive and I was screaming.
I was just happy to be top 5 but I got 2nd in the 75K!!!!!!!

@Faebert wow, those are two biggies to come back from. Glad you were able to be proactive on the double mastectomy and hope you have continued good health.
@shanaber the rocks are the best! After a run one time I was sitting at the greenway and there were words on rocks there with a note asking to put together a sentence or words of inspiration and post them to a facebook page. It was really neat.
@rheddmobile he’s a cutie
Nice run @rubydrm
Woohoo @Avidkeo
Definitely wear that orange @hanlonsk
I'm so happy my girl is coming home for a long weekend. I was supposed to drive down to college on Friday and back Monday and of course ANOTHER hurricane is coming her way. I said I'd come down anyway not to worry, then her friend said he was driving home for the weekend so instead of us doing a hurricane party there she will come home. I haven't seen her since Aug 10th so I'm excited.

Couple of things I think I forgot to say:
@Faebert you are so strong and you are such an inspiration.
@quilteryoyo I am still praying for you.
@rheddmobile what a cutie! Although... I hate snakes. Even if I know they aren't venomous. They still scare the *kitten* out of my. My twin brother was bitten by a copperhead when we were six and I was there for all of it. It was real bad.
@Tramboman seems like you have such nice weather!
@Avidkeo I echo what @Scott6255 said. Active recovery as much as you are able. But again, I am no doctor and I tend to push much harder than is maybe reasonable. You are under the care of a doctor and you have medical experience too. I am happy you got a run in! And I hope your progress can continue!3 -
Wow, that's FANTASTIC @Camaramandy648!!! Congrats!!!!!!!!0
-
Woohoo congrats @Camaramandy648 !! 2nd place is amazing. Doing 75K at all is amazing!! So happy for you, well deserved! X
@Avidkeo try and keep the faith. You’ve worked so hard and been so patient. Trust the professionals and take your time and all will be well. A few more weeks as a proportion of the rest of your life is like the blink of an eye. Sending virtual hugs to NZ! X4 -
Great job, @Camaramandy648 !!!0
-
@Camaramandy648 Congratulations on the podium finish!
But I do have to scold you for seeing the announcement while driving.Please, don't use your phone while driving. We don't actually enjoy organizing these runs in memory of our group members, especially if it's a young mom, or whoever is in the other car if you cause an accident while distracted screaming about a placement in a race.
End of possibly very judgmental rant. And I send you the most sincere hugs10 -
Hello everyone. I'm new to MFP. I started exercising regularly about a year ago, but just recently found a love for running. It’s like therapy for my anxiety 😊 It’s pushed me to quit smoking and make healthy lifestyle choices. My goal for this month is 50 mi.
10/1 – 2.04
10/2 – 5.14
10/3 – 2.43
10/4 – 1.49

@Camaramandy648 Awesome! Congrats on the 2nd place finish. 75k is a serious race!!0
-
Oh @polska_girl I love you. I can take the heat. I earned it, lol. I have no defense or excuses.
Thank you for all the congrats and for believing in me.
In other news, here are the samples of medals for @PastorVincent 's race. They are heavy and seem to be decent quality.
What do you all think? @rheddmobile I'm tagging you especially because you had mentioned the other quote too.

CONGRATULATIONS @Camaramandy648 ! That's awesome!

Hey Everyone....my name is Sheena (new member), and part of my fitness journey is to start running. I have always admired the dedication people have who are runners but always found an excuse not to start, but that changes today. My goal is to run 30 mins/5 days a week.... anyway just wanted to drop in and say good luck to everyone and lets have some fun11
-
That is amazing @Camaramandy648 and you are such an inspiration.
Welcome to all our newbies, obviously the running bug is contagious at this time of year 😊 - follow @Camaramandy648 as an example.
Rubbish weather, took the hillier route, camel pack wasn't working so had to faff with bottles, putting the waterproof on, taking it off again - still smashed my HM PB by 7 minutes. Happy bunny 🐰11 -

Those look awesome! Is the quote you got for a custom shape with custom ribbon like those? If so, I would say go for it.0 -
@Camaramandy648 I agree. They look fantastic!0
-
Thank you @Camaramandy648 . The medal quality looks good. I'm going along with the crowd on this one.
Welcome to all the newcomers. This is a great group.
@sfinney0825 Glad you are starting to run. If I may give you a little advice though, if you haven't been running, don't set out to run 30 minutes/5 x a week. That is way too much. I suggest you find a couch to 5K (C25K) program and follow it. There are several out there. Just google it.
WOW @TheMrWobbly ! Amazing! Congrats on such a great HM!

@Branawesomer hey!!! Welcome to the group! We're challenge buddies again! What's the tough mudder challenge you're doing?
And welcome to our other new runner members, great to have you join us.
@sfinney0825 I agree with @quilteryoyo - 30 minutes 5 x a week is a really aggressive start to running and you are risking injury or at least a lot of discomfort. Ease into it - C25k is a great introduction, or just start with 15 minutes a day, even breaking that into shorter intervals to start.
@Camaramandy648 huge congratulations!
Woo hoo @TheMrWobbly on your HM PR time!
