@katharmonic Glad the vending machine felt sorry for you and let you have the Death By Chocolate cake. That sounds so good. Here's to hoping work goes well next week and you enjoy your break in the mountains afterwards.
@polskagirl01 Glad you aren't required to wear the mask while running. I don't think I could do that. Yeah for the not not park run.
Congratulations @marisap2010 ! Reaching your weight loss goal is awesome! Thirty three pounds is huge. You should be proud.

@marisap2010 congrats on reaching your goal. That is huge! Have a great weekend doing whatever you want for yourself - I mean, if that's Death by Burpees who am I to say that's crazy

Beautiful fall morning out there. The sunrise was so pretty as I drove over to meet up for the run by the lake. I cut it way short today and now I'm off to work. I'm sad that it's supposed to rain later because Stella needs a good long walk when I'm done for the day. Hopefully we'll get lucky and it will hold off.

@marisap2010 Congratulations hitting your weight loss goal! That is freaking awesome
@TheMrWobbly great job on your mini-tri!
@Avidkeo of course PastorVincent would want you to get a medal. You'll earn it one way or another.
13.1 miles this morning. Weather was weird. Started out at 66F and really foggy. Couldn't see across the street. Then it burned off after about 30 minutes, then it came back about an hour later. And it was dead calm. A leaf dropped from a tree in front of me, and it just floated down perfectly flat; no movement whatsoever. Yeah, it's the little things that entertain me. The run was pretty good. Not to stressful. Could have done with about 10 degrees cooler, but nothing to complain about.

Wanted to let you all know that I set up a Caring Bridge page to keep everyone updated on my medical status. I still plan to come on here and comment, but that will be the one place that I, or my designated co-author, can go to update everyone all at once. I think you have to create an account and give your e-mail so you can be notified when an update has been made. If you are so inclined, the web address is: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/vickyrobinsonvenable/10

Glad you had a good run this morning @Scott6255. It's the little things that entertain me too. LOL

The effort you have put in is amazing. PastorVincent would be so incredibly touched. And humble too. And probably very embarrassed! Which I kinda love.
I don't feel I deserve a medal as I didn't take part due to injury. I would absolutely love one though if people agree, because it would be fantastic to have something I can look at and remember him by. Is that selfish?
Everyone knows you would have done the challenge and your support to us was invaluable, you are as much a part of the success in this challenge as anyone else. Totally deserve a medal 😊
I agree! Also, whenever you are back to running comfortably again, I can set you up with the challenge if you would like to feel like you completed it, and have the experience of seeing your marker on the map. Others have run the challenge outside of Boston week, and there’s nothing stopping me from adding a new team to the challenge with different dates.
I’m picturing PastorVincent running back for his wife - I feel like he would approve of each of us making sure the others make it in!
Thank you, I will do this! It may be a February thing I can work towards!2 -
@quilteryoyo I've signed up. Know you are in my thoughts.
@Scott6255 that sounds like such a beautiful morning!
@marisap2010 wooo hooo congratulations! That's wonderful! And burpies are definitely punishment for something.
I had a good sleep last night, and generally just an excellent day yesterday. I didn't do much, a couple of short bike rides with my kids, then sat on the couch doing nothing at all for most of the day, just what I needed.
Calf feels good this morning. Today is rest day, so I'm going to do just that, rest. May end up doing something with the kids, not sure yet. Tomorrow is Monday, so run/walk again. Still nervous but not as nervous. I think after this week I'm allowed to run for 4 minute stretches! Whoot whoot haha.6 -

10 miles on the trail this morning. My legs were tired and it was a struggle. I used the competitive track for several reasons and the long loop and technical loop share the start and end. I was kicking and tripping on many rocks today because I just couldn't get my legs to work right. My legs are so tired now.
I mentioned how every plant here as thorns. So on runs especially on trails, I'm always dodging or ducking trees that overgrow the trail. Well, today I got a nice scratch on my shoulder. It stung almost my entire run. I got home and hopped in the shower right away and has finally stopped stinging. I'm always afraid of tripping and falling into a cactus LOL I did have to dodge some cholla that fell onto the trail. You don't want those stuck in your shoe because if you pull it out with hands they get stuck in your hands. We have had to carefully remove them from the dog. They don't seem to bother her though. She's a tough street doggo.
October miles: 42.4 - Hitting all my goals for Javelina Jundred so far & I had 28 miles this week. My highest mileage since one random week in June and then before that was last May/June.9 -
Thanks @honunui!
@TheMrWobbly Great job on your mini-triathalon! 😁
@katharmonic. Maybe the vending machine was teaching you patience. Chocolate cake is way better than carrot cake so it would have been worth waiting for to me.
@marisap2010 Way to go on meeting your weight loss goal! That is awesome,!
@quilteryoyo Thanks for setting that up to keep us posted. I'm all signed up.

Pouring rain and windy as the remains of Delta came through yesterday. Ran anyway! Because we are hardcore and do the hard things! It’s getting to be that time of year when every day is going to be rainy and/or cold so we might as well start getting used to it now and not making excuses. But honestly it turned out to be beautiful running weather, although our warm up walk was chilly and my soaking wet husband nearly froze to death in Kroger afterwards!
My Brooks adrenaline 18s which I otherwise love are slippy on wet pavement so I wore my cheap Sauconys (I can’t remember which they are but they are an entry level priced shoe) which I ordinarily use only for walking, and the Sauconys had great traction. Even so, did not feel like doing planned speedwork in the wet. So we just ran a little bit faster than easy and called it good.
It’s starting to be truly fall. The leaves are beginning to change and there were ripe persimmons all over on the railroad access road.
This is the community garden - everything is done for the season except for okra and a few flowers.
Taking photos with a plastic baggie over my phone again!9 -
@eleanorhawkins and @mari33a When I first copied and pasted @Camaramandy648 email address I got a failure message too. Then I noticed that she had typed "email me atcamara.mandy@gmail.com" when it should have said "email me at camara.mandy@gmail.com." I was including the word at in the email address. Maybe you did the same thing I did?1

10/6: 6.22 miles
10/7: 6.22 miles
10/8: 6.23 miles
10/11: 11.04 miles

1106.90/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders
I ran 11 miles today. It was really nice when I got out around 7:20 this morning. It is supposed to be over 100°F later today so I was glad it was just in the 60's. Since it was my long run I was planning to take it pretty easy, but within a couple of blocks of my house a couple of runners came up behind me. I rarely see anyone running and I admit I picked up my pace a bit. Then when the first runner caught up with me we ran together for about half a mile before she turned off. Her friend never caught up to us. I ended up running the first mile in 9:40 instead of the 10:40 I had planned. But even though I was running faster than I usually do I was able to hold a conversation. I doubt I could have held it at that pace for 11 miles and I did slow down after I was on my own again, but maybe my easy pace is a little faster than I thought.
I did see 5 loose dogs out this morning and had to alter my route 4 times because of them. None of them really bothered me, but I don't want to run past unattended dogs that I don't know. I know sometimes dogs misbehave and get out when they aren't supposed to. But I really wish people would take better care of their dogs.
2020 races:
11/7/20: Run for 57th AHC Half Marathon7 -
Was raining this morning, which makes the leaves that have fallen on the driveway/road slick. That is my excuse for doing a treadmill run this morning. I did an easy 3 miles of running and 1 mile walking. I'm pretty sure I won't be allowed to run any next week, but hope to get some walking in.

About the issues with Hal getting mad when you change days... this week I had to completely change my schedule. After a couple of days the app gave me a message asking me if I'd done my runs... it gave me the option to say I'd completed my runs as planned so I just said yes and that made him/it happy.7

I have my garmin connected but I suppose I could manually enter after the fact.0 -
You are both braver than me @Avidkeo and @rheddmobile so I joined a gym for 3 months for dreadmill runs
Sending positive thoughts to you all!
Today was 90 minutes cycling, 90 minutes walking and 70 minutes running - I think 30 minutes hot tub is next 😊9 -

Don't know about that. I'm now freezing!
Should have wore my long sleeve merino. It's 13c/50f here usually I wear long sleeves below 10c, but I didn't factor in the rain. I'm now sitting in front of the heater with a coffee warming up my arms.
Other than that, run was great. Woke with a few niggles but nothing while running. I think i have to be more strict on the foam roller, really work on that scar tissue. Half expect to get some issues later today. But good happy run!8 -
@tracydvt Welcome!
@katharmonic I think we would all be in so mamuch trouble if all vending machines gave us what we needed and not what we wanted!
@quilteryoyo Good luck to you with your upcoming cath and surgery. I'm sure you will come through with flying colors.
Somewhere back in the last 65 posts someone mentioned citrus trees and thorns. We have a lemon, an orange, and a lime tree in our back yard. And, like someone else mentioned, the lemon tree thorns are killer. Our tree is mature and some of the branches have 2 inch thorns that are really thick. They will draw blood!
Like @RunsOnEspresso mentioned, I also assume most things around me have thorns. Or are poisonous. I just don't touch anything if I can avoid it.6 -

Been busy with work and life but finally got caught up on all the good stuff happening here from outlandish vending machines to amazing weight loss and of course all the running news. Yesterday’s long run was “only” 15 miles as we’ve started our tapering for the virtual MCM. It was raining off and on but actually felt pretty good. Next week’s long run is 8 miles. What on earth will I do with the rest of my day?
@quilteryoyo – You’ve got this. Praying all goes smoothly with your procedure tomorrow. Thanks for setting up the caring bridge site. I’m really not that far away from you so if you need an almost complete stranger for anything, give me a shout-out!
THANK YOU to the person showing another act of kindness in memory of @PastorVincent in paying for everyone’s medals.

Holy heck, I'm so far behind!!!
01/10 7km
08/10 8km
10/10 10km
Total 25km of 70km for October
The beginning of the month is always a bit hell for me, work-wise - I got out on the 1st then too many late nights happened and I didn't get out for a week. I smashed it on Saturday though - thought I'd do an easy run, felt good at the 5km mark so peeled on to the longer route, and got back, having completed 10km, in another PB (by another 5 seconds). Best of all, though, I've finally achieved a sub-6min 1km. All I have to do is string 10 of them together now and I've got my sub-60 minute 10km! I'm starting to believe this is truly possible!
Goals for the year:
1. Get back down to a decent running weight (currently set at 160lb) - achieved!
2. Run a sub-60 minute 10K
3. Run a race this year (this is looking so doubtful now!)
Races planned. None, but I've signed up for a "I beat 2020" challenge in December. It has bling!8 -
Thanks so much @Teresa502 for the kind offer. The "almost complete stranger" comment made me laugh. I've been telling everyone I think I have everything covered. If that changes, I'll let you know. I really do appreciate it!
Yeah for the PB @hmaddpear ! You are doing great!
