@torih941 well done for coming on here and posting that, sorry you have a lot to deal with at the moment xxxx fingers crossed now you've named it you can avoid buying those sweets next time. If I'm feeling low on willpower I try to maximise it when I'm food shopping, at least then you've had some control over what comes in to your house. Don't know if that would help. Anyway, hope the situation eases somewhat xxx5

My food plan and making a strict list from that for the grocery store helps a lot. One of the things that I've identified is when I'm in pain from the fibro I get snacky, and that sometimes two ibuprofen will make me feel better than food would.
We've had wet weather with several thunderstorms lately, and my fibro has made it clear that I still have that. But my partners are being very considerate and helpful, and understanding of my problems with focus and action when I'm sore.
Tonight I will make dinner, clean up the kitchen, and tomorrow is another day, and maybe I won't hurt so bad tomorrow.5 -
Starting to think ahead for the weekend and getting a little nervous. I seem to go off the rails on weekends and gain 2+ lbs to then have to start the week making up for the weekend. Does anyone else have this problem? What are your tips and tricks? I know planning is suppose to help but how do you plan when you have a spontaneous husband who is food picky?2

@AlexandraFindsHerself Thanks for the acknowledgement. It means a lot since my loss is so much slower. I hope you feel better soon.
@heatherbluebell Wow what changes. You are making such progress with your weight loss. I try to check in here on weekdays now but for a while I made it a goal and it helped me. Now I just want to do it. I think that is how goals on here work. Many think of them as just establishing healthy habits like getting enough sleep and drinking enough water (still on my list :P ). My Y opened but I am still on standby because what I really need is Aquafit and indoor classes are restricted still where I am. I am doing home strengthening too.
@MuttiNM Glad you got hikes with your son and daughter. I suspect you will see that loss down the line.
@xofarrah That’s the way to keep things going in the right direction!
Welcome @keksbalance and @JAC581
@torih941 In reading one of your last posts I felt that your life now is overwhelming. Yes losing weight is mostly about food. Exercise is mostly about staying fit and healthy. They relate to each other but it isn’t a direct relationship. If your post is long mine are super long. There is a reason why I didn’t start really losing until my kids were almost grown. But that isn’t the way it should be. Taking care of our health should come 1st so we can do the rest well. Keep on working on it!
@KMC55 sometimes I go off the rails on the weekends but I often do better. The reason is my husband makes a healthy big breakfast on the weekends. That sounds counter intuitive but often I only have 2 healthy meals on weekend days. We have grapefruit, eggs, lean bacon, and healthy whole grain pancakes and of course our house blend coffee. I only have 1 egg and one slice of bacon and I drink our coffee black. Also getting enough sleep helps on the weekends. That isn’t an issue for me now but when I start back to work in a few weeks I suspect it will be again for me. However sometimes something special comes up on weekends. I think the trick is to have a healthy weekend routine that is special/different but still healthy. Then if every once in a while something spontaneous happens it will not hurt in the long run. Having to make up for a weekend once in a while is easier than every weekend.
I think it is important to have a meal plan that has some joy in it whether it is weekday or weekend. Otherwise it isn’t sustainable. When we reach our goal we will still need to have healthy diets to maintain. That is the real point of this. It isn’t to lose weight it is to get healthy. To be healthy we don’t just need to lose weight we need to maintain a healthy weight. If we got there by an unsustainable route, then we have a lot of work to do when we hit our goal weight.
I am happy that I got an email from the place I am donating my kids art supplies to. They say they are happy to get them and I have an appointment tomorrow to take them in. My husband can help me since he is taking tomorrow off. They will be gone before I start working. I thought I would have to use a background on my MS Teams meetings to hide those boxes but the nice wood paneling on that wall will be fine without those boxes. Today I plan to work on the hallway outside my art room to clear it out.
Tonight is pizza. I get thin crusts through my dairy delivery from a great local bakery. Then we put sauce, mushrooms, onions, Italian sausage, freshly pressed garlic, and fresh basil. My daughter made sun dried tomatoes from her boyfriend’s garden so we will add those. They are really yummy. The chili was really good last night. It was a rainy day with even some hail so perfect for chili. I put a lot of veggies in my chili but I am picky that all ingredients are authentic. It is really Chili Con Carne y Verduras.
Today is really sunny and beautiful and is making me think about getting some exercise out there before starting on my clean up in the basement.

@torih941 Sending u love & positive vibes. But ur awesome for recognizing ur not exactly there yet with the self control. Maybe have only good/healthy snacks at home until ur more in control or able to eliminate/reduce those stress factors? Is there any way to eliminate/reduce these stressors? Do u have to just say no to what ppl ask? Just some ideas that might help get u fully back on the wagon. Hope everything calms down soon ❤
@JAC581 Hello! Good progress, ur doing great! 👏🏽👍🏾
@xofarrah Hi! Wow what an amazing week for u! 👏🏽👍🏾
@Heatherbluebell Hello! Aw Hun that is a lot to have to deal with, but yes sometimes things will happen for us that is a blessing in disguise and ur awesome to have made the decision to be proactive in moving forward!
@HLeticia7 Hi Leticia! U got this 👍🏾💪🏾
@Tarzan37 portion control is very important, so good job with that. Happy 20! 👏🏽👍🏾
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 Glad to read ur meal plans are helping.. Yay for the nsv! I had a similar nsv today 😁👍🏾
@KMC55 Hi Kristi! Yeess, 🎶U can get it if u really want it🎶😉.. Awesome job at acknowledging ur challenge and knowing u can get in some exercise to do something about it.. I suggest having a separate meal plan from ur husband's if he doesn't eat what you eat. Hopefully he'll slowly transition to ur healthier eating style later
Scale victory: another 2lbs gone (not as much as i wanted this week but I'll take it), for a total of 22.4lbs gone! 😁
NSV: i haven't been able to even get these shorts past my thighs, let alone button them up, for a while, but now i can! I still have about 10lbs before they're totally comfy but again I'll take it! 😁💪🏾👍🏾 #GettingThere

@KMC55, you are definitely right, just have to keep going! We got this.
@orangequilt, yes, that is exactly what I do, thanks for the kind words.
@KeriA, yes, very overwhelming, but still trying to keep going. I know I can do it, I just have to get my mind focused. Thanks for the encouraging words!
@remedieigotcha, thanks for the kind words. I am going to get some healthier snacks in the house and focus on incorporating those into my diet versus the unfilling sweets. Also, great loss!

“Binge eating is a food addiction just as much as binge drinking is an alcohol addiction.”
@alexandra_ ......That’s me and black licorice. I can’t have it in the house and it is really really hard to walk by in the store. 3 pieces is 130 cals. Let’s be honest, with a bag of licorice......that’s probably immediately weight gain of .5 a pound. I imagine ex smokers crave like this too.

I am fifty pounds down! This morning I weighed 246. That's really exciting. I'd LOVE to be 75 pounds down by Christmas, but I don't think that's going to happen with the pace I'm setting. It's not a bad pace; I've lost this 50 pounds in 10 months, and that's five pounds a month. I'm not really deprived, and I eat the things I like, and while I could probably tighten down a bit and exercise more to get it up to 10 pounds a month, I'm busy with the family's mental health, and am preferring to err on the side of comfort.
So in 10 months I've lost 50 pounds, 5 sizes in jeans, and 10 inches off my waist, 10 off my bust, and 8 off my hips.11 -
Last night was not a good night. Too many snacks after work and reflected in the scale this morning. Feeling disappointed, but trying to channel it for motivation and remember that it isnt about the day to day scale changes it is the weekly and overall changes.5

When I've done that I try to not beat myself up, but identify, what led me to the snacking? Do I maybe need a little more fat in my dinner for satiety? Do I do better if I plan an emotionally satisfying snack that is the End Of The Day? Do I just need to go to bed earlier? And if I do, why didn't I last night? And then I can make the appropriate changes in my behavior so that I do what I really want to do.
I learned that after dinner I really do have to do the blasted dishes immediately because otherwise I'll sit down and by the time the "pick up the house for tomorrow and set up the coffee pot" alarm goes off, I won't wanna, I'll be too tired, and doing it then often pushes my bedtime too late and I wind up snacking too much.

Well, I just recorded my biggest weekly loss of the year - wow. It's a bit more than I would actually like to lose each week. I'd prefer to keep it at 1-2lbs per week but I won't complain! I worked at my part time job again last night and it is definitely a good work out. One issue that is arising is that my right foot has had flare ups of what seems to be plantar fasciitis and that is rearing its head. I have orthotics for my shoes that I will need to be better about wearing!
In other news... I may be adopting a new cat or kitten earlier than planned. I had planned to wait until January or February but a couple of days ago a mouse ran across my kitchen floor and then he was in the living room... I had NEVER seen a mouse inside before but I think it was because my cat was on patrol and they knew it. So... heading over to our city's shelter today to see if anyone grabs my attention. I also ordered humane live traps that should be delivered today.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!6 -
OFFICIAL FRIDAY WEIGH-IN
Age: 41
Height: 5'3"
SW (8/10): 208.6
Aug end: 205.6
Sept end (9/25): 204.6
10/2: 206.4
10/9: 204.0
10/16: 202.8
10/23: 202.0
1st GW: 200!!
UGW: 140
Goals so far:
Log my food every single day, good and bad
Drink at least 64 oz of water daily
I know I didn't reach this goal any day of this week.
Workout 5 times a week, but also I want to increase the time that I workout each day from 30 minutes to one hour (gradually).
I barely worked out 2 days this week and each workout was about 20-25 minutes.
This wasn't a great week at all. My cousin's husband passed away sometime at the beginning of the week, maybe because of leukemia... If I wasn't shunned by my family I would know what's been going on with them. My mom told me on Tuesday, but she wasn't quite clear about it... she wanted to rush the call and hang up ASAP. It did come as a complete shock because I didn't even know he was sick. He was only 42. His brother passed away a couple of months ago as well, from a sudden heart attack. Found out about his death maybe a month after the fact. He looked healthy, ate healthy... he was about 47 years old.
So this week has been a mixture of sadness and anger, and I just didn't even feel like exercising at all. I tried to push myself to do something yesterday, but it was a half-assed effort. Even using the 3lb dumbbells felt so heavy, like I was lifting 300 lbs instead. I ate out twice this week... I'm actually amazed that I lost any weight this week. I logged everything I ate anyways. That definitely feels like a habit now, so that's good.11 -
No loss this week, which is disappointing, but I reminded myself this morning that it's not a race and to just keep trying. Really need to incorporate some exercise into my routine. It's been a goal all month, but haven't been successful. Just keep trying!
Have a good weekend everyone!4 -
@torih941 Sending hugs and love your way! There's nothing worse than feeling overwhelmed and anxious! The next meal will be the one that gets you back 'on the wagon' and all the little decisions you are making now will help you move forward. Self-sabotage is what I am used to, so I understand how you are feeling, however you are here online recognizing where you have been and know what to do to get back on track. Well done xoxo3

I am inspired and sending high fives!! Five pounds a month is great. Especially if you have stuff going on. You have every right to be proud!!!! 👊🏻4 -
I kept trying to weigh myself this morning and every time I got on the scale it read 34 instead of my real weight. The dog was barking her head off to go out and I had stripped down to get the lowest possible weight, so I couldn’t keep standing there trying in case someone went by the house and saw me in all my nakedness through the window! I took the 34 as a sign that today was not my day to weigh and I’ll try again tomorrow when I am relaxed and Gracie has already gone out, and I can give myself the time I need. I have just made the decision to put my home on the market and it will go live on MLS on Nov. 18 so I have time to fix a few things. I am going to have to be really mindful of stress and food and drink choices so I don’t go off like a house on fire during this process. I’m going to try to make it as stress-free as possible.5

I've yo-yo'd the last 2 years, heaviest scale reading was 220 in fall of 2019. I lost 20 pounds earlier this year, but that was because I caught Covid19 in February at work, and my gastrointestinal system couldn't keep anything in. Follow all safety protocols folks! I nearly died. Not the right way to lose weight! I have just come back to My Fitness Pal for probably the 5th time in 6 years, it is the only program that works for me as long as I stick to it. Last month I had 1/2 my thyroid gland removed,(hemi-thyroidectomy) so 200 pounds that I am carrying currently is too much for the remaining half to handle. I've got to drop at least another 40 pounds, and My Fitness Pal works, plus it's FUN!
220 (heaviest that I recorded but many months before I never weighed myself)
current weight 200.0
goal 150-160 lbs6 -
So I just had a really good night and thought I'd share. My friends came over for dinner/movie night and usually this is where all my healthy eating goes out the window and leads me toward days of bad choices.
We ordered Indian, and I stuck with vegetarian. I only ate half of it--there was a LOT--and only drank water. ( No poultry/meat and no soda✅)
They brought over tons of unhealthy snacks, and I only ate a few cups of popcorn, a handful of salted nuts, and two rice crispy treats throughout the night, and didn't touch any of the chocolate snacks or ice cream. (No chocolate and no dairy✅). Could I have skipped the two rice crispy treats? Yes, but I decided to go for it.
I woke up this morning and my stomach didn't hurt from overeating/bad eating and I'm not in a food spiral.9 -
Lately I've been trying to figure out different ways/recipes for veggie sides. What does everyone have?...and go...0
