Big CONGRATULATIONS on your 6 days dry. Are you going short or long term with your streak?2 -
@MissMay
Oh yes about boats spreading like zebra mussels and stuff like that. So do you have a sanitizing station at the lakes where you spray them off?
Or do you chisel them off like barnacles? : - )
Ahoy mate-ey
This all started because I had never ever seen a shoe cleaner at a trail head before, but apparently they are in existence elsewhere and in 60 years I had just not come across one : - )3 -
I am Dawn and live in South East British Columbia. I am 60.
My goal remains the same as it has been for quite some time, 16-20 AF days per month.
Wednesday October 14 - AF. I worked out of town for my favourite company today (Foster Grant) and stopped on the way home for a wee trail walk. it was gorgeous with blue skies all day.
Thursday October 15 - AF. I had to do the 6 minute wait 3 times, but it worked. I had to get those 2AF in a row.
Friday October 16 - Drinks. Both of my tenants left to go home for the weekend. Yay. They are awesome guys, but I love having the house to myself. Rainy day, no opportunity to hit the trails, but all good.
Saturday October 17 - AF - Felt like having drinks, but refrained.
Sunday October 18 - AF - Had to get my 2 AF days in a row.
Rolling total: 13 AF days out of 18 days so far.6 -
Torchy’s Taco not been there since March before the lockdown! Torchy’s Tini, Taco in bowl no tortilla, chips, guac. Wonderful evening out after my son's dogs left (we have been watching them for the past week), lots of walking and yard work.
Oct accountability: 6/18 days AF4 -
First snowfall today here : - )
This place/lake is a bird sanctuary (lots of birds in the water today!) and it is the first place to freeze over because it is very shallow.
Skating on it around the inlets can be so great!
Another lake that I was walking around today. So fabulous to hear my feet in the snow now that I have a hearing aid : - )

Oct 17: AF

Got a bit wild on Friday night. I kinda regret the calories, but I don't regret indulging in something as delicious as that particular wine was. Just wish the cat hadn't decided to start banging cabinet doors at 5am so I could have slept it off a bit longer. Stayed AF on Saturday to make up for Friday, and had steak + finished husband's open bottle on Sunday night.
We got woken up this morning when the cat knocked a bottle off of something, somewhere. We had an empty but unrinsed bottle that we were going to put up for display somewhere (we save special bottles) sitting on the fridge, and the cat had knocked it into the gap between the fridge and the wall. Husband, still half-asleep, yanked on the bottle to get it free and pulled the cork out in the process. There was still a surprising amount of wine left in that bottle. Red wine that is now all over my white kitchen wall.
This is the culprit who's causing me so many headaches, he's a jerk:
I spent this weekend digging out my dead zinnias and planting flowers for fall/winter. Scrubbed the planter boxes and started with fresh potting soil, so hopefully they're in a healthy environment and will grow well. I'm going to be sad to lose the basil (top pot in the background) when the cold weather hits, it really took off this year.

Totally loving everyone's photos. Especially the cat
9 days AF over here.....
@looneycatblue : I spent some weeks in Cambria awile back. It was awesome and yes the morning fog was insanely think but it was surreal also. And when the moon was full, it would illuminate the ocean and make it sparkle. I also drove to Julia Pfeiffer state park (Big Sur). Incredible forest hikes there with huge trees. And an amazing lunch overlooking the ocean at Nepenthe restaurant. Dreamy.....
@LoveyChar : which marathon are you doing? I have been itching to sign-up for something but it seems all races have gone on hold due to Covid. Just signing up for a Half keeps me motivated to do it.7 -
@globalhiker I hope that we can get-away soon, how nice that you got to spend so much time around Cambria, so many things to explore. The most we can do is most likely 2 nights, but so worth it! Just need to get my hubby to make up his mind when he can get the time off so I can get my time off too.
@chocolate_owl How is it possible your sweet peaceful kitty could be a jerk...such a beautiful cat!
I am just doing 7 days at a time, right now counting for an entire month is just too daunting... started my count on Saturday, Oct 17... so far 2 AF / 2 days5 -
@dawnbgethealthy Love the pictures, the crispness I can just imagine what a peaceful walk that would be!
@chocolate_owl I love your balcony garden!!!
@globalhiker Austin Marathon! Texas Trail Running Festival Marathon went off without a hitch a month ago, six feet of separation and run over three days and there are others being successfully carried out as well. You should do it!!! The most amount of miles I had ever ran when I signed up for my Marathon was 7!!! I ran 3 miles almost every day, came home one day and told hubby I wanted to run a half and he said, "why a half, you could run a whole" and that spurred my confidence to train. You can do it! If you register to run and tell people you're doing it, you probably feel compelled to do it. It's such an incentive! Training is tough but race day is the payoff!5 -
What was supposed to be a two night camping trip ended up just being one because our tent could not withstand the hard winds, not cold just hard but it took down part of our tent. So we packed up on night two, Saturday, and came home. Glad we decided to stay very close to home just in case because just in case happened.
Split half a can of 12 ounce wine with hubby last night while watching Hubie Halloween, really cute and funny movie! Mom's interpretation and wearing of thrift store t-shirts still have me laughing today!

Came home after work and then a long grocery shopping trip and proceeded to drink a glass of red wine. Which of course required snacks like Trader Joe’s Inner Peas and some Oreos. NOW my DH is cooking a healthy dinner but I’m only interested in junk food. Once I open the junk food “door”, it’s hard to close it. ☹️6

@chocolate_owl well your on to us. Your kitty has secretly been working with us to help you with drinking less. Guess he may have tried to hide the bottle of wine and it slid off the counter top. Look at that darling face!
Your flower boxes are gourgous. Our season is so coming to an end. I have so much to cut back in the gardens and then try to store the pots and containers inside.3 -
@LoveyChar nice camp site. Sorry it had to end so soon. Another 1/2 can for you. 😉4
-
@dawnbgethealthy UGH I do not look forward to seeing snow again. Nice picture though. At our lakes they were more concerned with invasive water plants being transfered to other bodies of water. I do recall ever seeing a cleaning station, only the signs warning of the plants. 🚤3

@looneycatblue one day at a time or one week at a time....what ever works best for you. Yes an entire month can seem overwhelming. 👍4
-
@Lilylady3k yum, taco night sounds like it is in my future. I like making my own at home. Double wrapped tacos!5

I have been trying to push through some pain my gull bladder is causing me. Certain foods trigger it and I know I have not been a good girl. To much spice, to much coffee, etc.
So this morning and all day has been coffee free. 😬
Which also means AF because alcohol is a huge irritant when one of these attacks happen.
Have a successful week everyone.7 -
Admitting it now... DH is taking his first full week of vacation this year. We are at the fishing camp with him not working. So rules are out the window. Well almost. Sobberish not overdoing it but not planning AF this week.
Tonight 3-4 glasses of wine (depends on the pour) over 4 hours.
