I am Dawn and live in South East British Columbia. I am 60.
My goal remains the same as it has been for quite some time, 16-20 AF days per month.

Friday October 23 - AF - Always happy to see that 16AF number.
Saturday October 24 - Drinks. Awesome busy day today.
Sunday October 25 - AF - Planning on racking up a few more AF days before the month is over.
Monday October 26 - AF - Easy decision, early workday on Tuesdays.
Tuesday October 27 - AF - Cracker of a workday, but tomorrow is my 2 year anniversary on MFP, so I want to weigh as little as possible and thus remained AF : - )

Rolling total: 19 AF days out of 27 days so far.

Dawn I remember you joined us in October , but was not sure the date. HAPPY TWO YEARS of accountability and drinking LESS! Let's not forget your weight loss too.
Sorry your photo could not be shrunk down. It is such a great picture of you. AND you have already hit next to your high goal mark.
    Your rock'n.

I joined this thread November 28.18, one month after joining MFP.
I think that the first week I didn't change a thing, continued to drink every day after work. The second week I tried 1 AF day and it was surprisingly hard!! I think that I did the same the following week, 1AF day, then gradually tried to add an AF day to the mix each week, so 2 AF days per week. Over the following year I increased it to 3AF days per week, and eventually came to a happy place of 16-20 AF days per month.
Some people that I know really love sweets of various kinds be they pastries, pies, cakes, chocolate etc. That is not my particular vice, but I understand because of my love of cocktails of so many varieties.
People who are moderating their sweets go from 4 cookies a day to 2, or limiting sweets to twice per week. Those of us that enjoy cocktails do the same. For me (other than alcohol) my big thing is Ribs. I cut them from once per week to once per month.
I have significantly decreased my alcohol consumption over time. I am happy with where I am at with it now. I won't be joining the sobriety squad. Life is to be lived...in moderation...for me.

Lol, I am sure that I will be making a big hoopla of being on this thread when November 28.20 comes along. Keeps me accountable : - )

2 glasses of red wine, steak w/ roasted broccoli & cauliflower for dinner.
Enjoyed this beautiful weather we are having in Texas! Walked our dog (standard poodle) 4 miles this morning, mammogram (have you scheduled yours?), turned the soil in my front flower bed, planted 2 flats snapdragons, 1 flat pansies, 1 flat alyssum & 2 ornamental cabbages ... oh and some cilantro in my herb bed too! Then walked with DH 1 mile before he took off for his run.

    Oct accountability: 9/29 days AF

Haha, for sure you don't get the snow scenery in Texas : - )

It has all melted sadly, it went from minus 10 at night (celsius) to plus 10 at nights.
Oh well, it will give me a chance to dig up some more potatoes, carrots, beets and stuff this weekend.

So fun that you are planting snapdragons and stuff this time of year, when I am itching to get out skating on the lakes.
I'm sure that I mentioned that I went to Texas last fall for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it, especially the food, and of course the hot weather.

You will have to show us a photo of your camp some time!

How envious I am that you are planting flowers and I am cutting gardens down to nubs in prep for Winter weather.

@globalhiker sorry your fasting for medical reasons took a bad turn with cravings and munching. Nice yoga goal you slipped in there 👍

@dawnbgethealthy seeing your AF days I am putting together a mental calender in my head. 20 days is one day short of 3 WEEKS. Out of a 4 week month! AWESOME numbers.

Yesterday was a whirl wind work day. 5 brutal hours of sorting, throwing, organizing a giant storage garage with folks that moved here many years ago.
    Mission: accomplished!
It was a huge work out, (in my pea brain head I calculate how many calories I am burning yet at the same time adding muscle mass by running up and down those 20+ steps to the attic of that garage.)
Got home took a lovely tubby in my soaker tub. Luckily my starving self chose peach yogurt to feast on because it was too close to dinner time to have an actual proper lunch.

24AF out of 29 so far in October.

It snows very little in Houston and right now is the perfect weather to get outside. Summers are just too darn hot.
I'll post some pics of the camp that I took last week ... very different from your mountains (which I would love to be around)

I love love love your photos!!!
What a great place that you have. How wonderful for you and your fam.
The photo of the abandoned house on posts is so evocative. Truly made me start thinking of what life would have been like for people in that environment.
Thank you so much for the pictures, you are a good photographer!

Um...Do you have Alligators or Crocodiles there?

Friday October 30 - AF - Pleased with my numbers this month, they will end as that since I have planned seasonal-type drinks with a friend tomorrow evening. I am also taking some N/A beer with me to intersperse since I can't drink much without throwing up. With the N/A beer I will be able to have a beverage in front of me to go with our pizza and not get drunk.

Rolling total: 21 AF days out of 30 days so far.

Sorry to hear about your injury!
And yes, that should do it for camping for this year.
I hope that you have a trailer and not a tent lol.
Glad that you can still ride.

    GOOD MORNING!
Up bright and early...before the sun even. Sitting having my coffee ( yes, back drinking java thank heavens) anticipating the sky slowly waking up and making my yard come alive.
    Here is an interesting fact:
Our state sees the first rays of sun in the USA. I once went up to Cadillac Mountain in Bar Harbor with my Sister at 3:30am to wait with a massive group of other strangers cuddled up in blankets waiting for the first glimmer of light to start peaking up over the horizon. It was magical.

OK, so why am I up and excited and waiting and telling you all this ridiculous story? Because I have "purpose", "intention" a "plan".

My plan is watch the sun rise, then go do my early morning work out. There...... it will be before 9am and I have accomplished two major events already. If you plan, have a purpose or a good intention then it is easier then waking up not knowing which direction you will take.

Same with wanting to drink less.
Plan it, have intention, know your purpose.

October 31 HAPPY HALLOWEEN. My most favorite day of the year.
Rounding out my October at 26 days no alcohol
The 5 days of drinks this month were uneventful and that is a GOOD THING.

See you on the November thread.

Um...Do you have Alligators or Crocodiles there?

We have spotted alligators when there is either heavy rains or flooding which are then moved back to the wildlife refuge. I've been going down to the camp for 60 years and I've only seen 2 in the last 3 years ... none before that. Of course seeing alligators can be said about any body of water in any state along the Gulf Coast. In fact when I walk our surrounding neighborhoods in Houston I've seen alligators in golf course ponds :)

The camp is at the edge of Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge (hence the protected turkeys). Tons of wildlife around. When I'm down at the camp I walk though the Adolph Thomae Jr. County Park and I've seen ocelots, bob cats and wild hogs early in the morning which worries me since I'm walking with my dog.
    https://fws.gov/refuge/laguna_atascosa/wildlife_and_habitat/wildlife.html

The best wildlife are all the birds though!
