Glad this week is over! Hope to get a good night's sleep.
I remember all of the "Older than dirt" items. I did turn 66 yesterday and I admit that it doesn't feel as old as it once seemed it would! My weight is the best it has been since early 1980's and physically I am in the best overall shape (except some of the normal aging aches). I have gotten in habit of buying myself a present "from my husband" on our anniversary, my birthday and Christmas since he died. For my birthday jewelry has been my choice but since I won't go into stores shopping for that stuff right now, this year he got me a new tv for the bedroom. The old one is really old and I got sick of two remotes. I now have a smart tv in there.
Taking old tv to recycling tomorrow and starting painting of new doors. Will most likely take me several weekends but that is ok.
Allie-glad Alfie came back. Pets can scare us as much as our kids.
Not much else to say tonight.
Stay safe all and enjoy the weekend,

Katla - my Mom used to do those as well, as did my Grandmother. I have a set my Grandmother did. Last year at Christmas I found small 4X6 paint by numbers and I sent those to Mom. The sad part is I never know if she likes or even receives what I send as she doesn’t remember getting things and no one at the home let’s me know.
I don’t blame the home, working in one I understand how busy it is and we wouldn’t have time to call or acknowledge for each resident either.
Ginny - that’s a nice idea to buy yourself a gift from your husband. I hope you enjoy it.
Talking about not feeling your age, my Grandmother was very spry and young looking a lot longer than one would expect. In 1990, she wallpapered a room for me that had 10 foot ceilings. Up and down the ladder without a thought. I offered, but was expecting so she refused to let me climb. I don’t think at that time I realized quite how much that must have taken out of her, she was 77.
I’m feeling nostalgic tonight, Remembrance Day is this upcoming Wednesday. I made this photo my cover photo on FB tonight. This is my Grandfather, brother and I in Remembrance Day in I think around 1981. I had begged him to put in his uniform as I was learning about WWII in school. His hands were covering the fact his zipper wouldn’t zip.

Did a DVD for the bosu today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Yoga for Weight Loss DVD
Kim – I probably didn’t listen to Vince well. He said that certain states had “until” Friday to count the votes. See, I am not obsessing about the election because I know it’ll take a while before we find out who is president. Honestly (don’t tell Vince this) many times I listen with ½ an ear (like this time). So sorry.
Was at the soup kitchen today then the Green Room. Unfortunately, there aren’t many calls at the Green Room. I bet some people are hesitant to come out. Hopefully, that’ll change in the future.
After the Green Room ran to Aldi to get more eggs and sugar since they are on sale with a minimum. Then realized that the sale for Vince’s cereal goes off Sunday so ran there. Saved almost $12. On the way out of the store met a guy who I know was in the choir at church. He said that he went to church one time since March and half the people weren’t wearing masks. Of course, the choir isn’t singing right now. Father is giving communion to those who want it on the tongue. To me, everyone should get it in the hand. But who am I???? I guess it’ll be a while before I go to church (isn’t that sad?) because I don’t care to be with people who won’t wear a mask
KJ – I hope you don’t have to close. What those kiddos will miss without you!
Debbie – I wouldn’t call myself a compulsive shopper. But I do love a bargain.
Allie – I hope all goes well for Tracy. I know only too well the heartbreak of infertility.
Kelly – welcome! Be sure to come back so we can get to know you better
Made soup for me this morning and just now made meatloaves for later in the week and to freeze
Didn’t realize that I had planned to give Vince ravioli tonight, thought I was going to give him waffles. But that’s next week. So I made the waffles and will just freeze them. Less work for me for next week, that’s for sure
Work tomorrow. After work, I’ll do some shopping (milk which is cheapest there, some Laughing Cow that’s on sale) and then go to the dollar store for poster board to put on the bottom of the jigsaw puzzle so I can start to glue it to frame.

Allie- I’m so happy to know that Alfie did not get hurt. YAY!!! Our pets are important to our health and happiness. I often refer to them as our fur babies. We take care of them and they improve the quality of our lives. :flowerforyou: I don't even want to imagine life without a dog. Our old boy has been through injuries and other health problems. I feel lucky that he is doing well and his happy these days. My cat loving friends feel the same way about their kitties.
I went to my yoga class today for the first time in months. I am delighted to be back there with my class. I look forward to my next class on Monday.

Snowflake1968 wrote: »Barbara - Surprisingly our team building exercises involved a lot of personal reflection and sharing some personal thoughts. One in particular was we interviewed each other and then had to introduce that person to the rest of the team.
The questions were:
1. How would you describe your adolescence/early adulthood and how did it shape/influence you?
2. What previous work experience had the most impact on you and why?
3. What's the hardest lesson you've learned?
4. What's something about you that your colleagues might be surprised by?
5. What do you find challenging and rewarding about your current role?
This one brought some tears when we were being introduced, We also did some relaxing/meditating, like Machka, I don't do so well at meditation. There were a lot of other self reflection/sharing exercises. It was an emotional day.
Machka - I've never enjoyed them either except for one where we went on motorboats on a bay in Vancouver and had a scavenger hunt from the boat. That was just a really nice day. Yesterday's was much better than I was expecting.
Tracey in Edmonton
I might enjoy the motorboats and scavenger hunt!
But I would not enjoy the personal reflection and personal thoughts, and I have been through team building things like that. I come up with rather impersonal reflections and thoughts as my answers and I suspect most others do as well.
I am glad it was better than you thought it might be.

Oh, someone asked about the loss of my parents. I was 26 when my mom passed in March of 93. She had non-hodgkins lymphoma. AFter seven years and four battles with cancer/tumors popping up in various places, the one that finally got her was wrapped around her spine and the docs didn't find it until it was too late. My father died of a heart dissection. This is when the lining of your heart rips away from the heart wall, usually creating internal bleeding. Stress is a common cause. This happened in November of 93. I feel about the year 1993, the way most people feel about this year. BUT...you can't throw away a whole year. My son Colin was born in December of 1993. Redemption. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)Snowflake1968 wrote: »Kelly - I truly hope the Covid stopped at your door. I feel the same but my year was 2012, there was a lot of bad but some good too.

I think I would be fine if it was nice weather year round where the outside is more able to be used for living space. It is fine for just Rodger and I, but when the girls or anyone visits there isn't enough space.
Tracey in Edmonton
My apartment in Winnipeg was 800 sq feet and it felt too small with my ex-husband. When he moved out, it felt just right.
The first place my current husband and I lived was 6m x 9m (600 sq feet) ... that was the off-the-grid shack in the middle of nowhere. It was OK for our first year together because we had lots of outdoor space and no visitors.
Now we're in 1100 sq feet plus about half a basement and that suits us quite well. We've got room for exercise equipment, a workshop, and an office (which I need to organise to make it usable). The front area of the house is quite open plan so we are often in the same room but he's at one end in the living room and I'm at the other end in the dining room. It works.
We're also developing some outside space to be more usable - our pergola patio.Snowflake1968 wrote: »Fae - we are very fortunate to have lots of Windows and like I said when it’s just the two of us it’s fine.

That's one thing I really like about our current place - we've got lots of big windows. We've just returned from a 2-week holiday and 2 of the places we stayed were nice, and one I especially like, but they had such small windows that when you were inside, you felt closed in.
That 800 sq foot apartment also had 3 small windows facing north (the dark direction in the northern hemisphere) - one in the living room and one in each bedroom. The rest of the apartment (dining room, kitchen, hall and bathroom) had no windows so were dark all the time unless we turned a light on. That probably did not help my ex's and my mood.
I can't remember if it was before, or just after he moved out when the owner of the building changed all the living room windows to full-sized sliding doors and added balconies. That was great ... just added so much more light. Then I added a set of three large mirrors on the wall which caught a tiny bit of sun at a certain time of day and that helped too.
I find I feel so much better about life if I can see outside.

18 Days Off
I'm nearing the end of 18 days off. Monday I return to work.
However, it's the longest break I've had in ages!! No work, no university.
We started by organising a 3-day cycling event in the northern part of our state which went really well. It was so nice not having to study something as well. I could go to bed early, read fiction, sit on the front porch of our cabin in the sun, go out to dinner with some of the cyclists after the events, etc.
Then we moved to a small 2-bedroom house in a tiny town that is reminiscent of an English village with a village green, town common and historical buildings. We've stayed in that particular house before and it's a lovely quiet place.
There we cycled, walked (and I ran along the paths in the town common), and visited the shops in that town and the next town over. We had lunch at a raspberry farm. We went out to a wildlife conservation park and got to pat a wombat and Tasmanian devil, as well as seeing several other animals. We went to a Steam World festival. And we walked a hedge maze.
Plus we relaxed -- sleeping late, in bed a bit early to read, lying on the sofa to watch TV, sitting out on the back porch reading in the sun, etc.
After a week, we moved to a small 1-bedroom cottage on a historical farm. We've stayed there before and have loved it!! It's so peaceful with just farm animal and bird noises most of the time. I spent a lot of time on the back deck there or in the yard in the sun. It's only spring and I'm already fairly brown.
During our 5 days there we cycled, walked, explored the historical buildings (again - we've been there several times), and spent a day in the northern city shopping. And continued "Operation Relaxation".
Over 10 days, we cycled 194 km and walked 23 km.
We did have one stressful morning when Rhody (our black cat who came with us) slipped out the front door of the last place we stayed and vanished. Allie ... what is it with our pets??
My guess was that he went under the house but of course we couldn't see him so we searched and searched all over the farm. I kept thinking that if he was scared off into some of the bush around the farm, we'd probably never see him again. But something kept drawing me back to area around the house and I kept thinking I heard his meow when I was somewhere close to the house. I'd walk away and not hear his meow and walk closer and hear his meow. At first I thought it was just my imagination ... could be the birds, sheep, donkeys, ducks, etc. etc. However, I put his litter box out on the front step to waft his smell around in case he needed help finding his way back.
After much walking around for hours, we sat down outside the front step just quietly. I turned my head and there he was ... with his front feet in the box and a massive cobweb on his head looking like he wanted to know what his litter box was doing on the front step!
I walked over and picked him up, and he was fine. The cobweb suggests to me that he was indeed under the house, and chances are it was his meow I heard. But thank goodness we found him!! We kept quite a close eye on him after that!
But we're back now and in the process of unpacking. I have a growing list of things to do this month. Nice to have had the rest but busy times ahead. I'm hoping some of the busy-ness eases as we move into about mid-December.
Me in my halloween shirt ...

Good morning. It's another fine day, so planning to plant up as many of our containers as possible while it lasts.
Yesterday, I worked on increasing our stock of masks, and sorted out some more of my art materials. Today I will probably go to the local shops for Sunday roast and fresh bread.
Ginny: 🎈🎉🎈Happy Birthday 🎈🎉🎈 I find our Smart TVs are so useful. I can access the Internet and YouTube. I can also watch programmes at my convenience, without having to set up the recorder, which means I don't miss out if there are several favourite programmes on at the same time.
Machka: Sounds like you have made good use of your time off. Glad you found Rhody again.
DYD left her old dog, Jack, with us for the afternoon yesterday. He really is getting old. We hadn't realised how much his eyesight and hearing had deteriorated recently. Sidney, the younger dog, was at doggy daycare. He goes to socialise with the other dogs and he loves it. She told us that she's has just accepted a new job. She has been looking to move firms for a while now, so we are very pleased that she has been successful, especially in these peculiar times.
Time for breakfast and a little outdoor work.
🕊 Pax vobiscum 🕊

Ginny Happy, Happy Birthday and enjoy your new TV.
Tracey Love the photo of Remembrance Day.
Allie So glad the pup came to you. My Pom got away from me a couple of times because his fur was so silky he slipped out of his collar. The last time I had to stop traffic coming both ways down the street. Luckily, both the cars stopped and so did the pup.
Michele You must have a very large freezer to be able to store so many make ahead meals. I would not be able to do that.
The new time change is just not working for me! I find myself wanting to go to bed earlier than usual and then waking up way too early.

Used to do paint by numbers when kids were young. One morning I was upstairs busy and they were downstairs. They found the kit and decided it would be a good idea to decorate some of my vinyl LPs, I was not happy 🤣🤣 my own fault for leaving them in an accessible place.
Went to park yesterday with DH nice to be out it was sunny but wind chilly. Will probably go today as well as sun is shining again.
We have pilot scheme in operation where everyone in the city can have a CV test, the scheme will only last for 10 days. Frankly not sure if it will make a difference. We have essentially been in lockdown here for nearly 4 wks already and our numbers are dropping anyway. I guess it will be good for people who go to work and for care homes.7 -
"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: called Geico underwriting updated, adjustor reassigned, typed hymns, watched Avengers with Joe.
Bonus: Advent devotional done and sent, ribs slow cooked, potatoes baked, 10 mins vac, watched STAS Day 8 (Don’t put baby in the corner) and half of Say 9 (Funder, Typhoon, Tornado) video, gritted teeth and started reading Obesity Code.
Get to do: practice “A Little Less Broken”, Farmers’ market, BiMart, Grocery Outlet, Freddie’s, submit grant pics and receipts, STAS challenge catchup, shop for part D, take pics of car, test Bluetooth speaker so can do BB&B or T’ai Chi from voice recordings, make experimental almond paste, declutter sideboard, practice new dances (Nothing but You, Larger than Life, Here I Go Again/Mama Mia, Real Deal, Get it Right); prep potato area and raised beds for beets, carrots, parsley root, parsnips, radishes and sow; weed drive again, finish weeding flower bed, mulch flowerbed; invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant naked lady bulbs. Next Wednesday minutes to history, Reward: inventory seeds, plan fall cool season garden, order replenishments
New Ways November
6: Give yourself a boost, try a new way of being physically active: learn one of the new dances: watched Little Less Broken video and printed stepsheet.
Bathrobe day with two naps. Joe took the dogs to the powerline for the first time in months, so thankful he felt well enough.
KJ fingers X’d for baby’s negative test. Thanks for sharing, sounds like your porr father’s heart was literally torn by your mother’s suffering.
Lisa “fuzzy eyeballs” So glad for your good news, ‘bout time you had some!
Fae’s “…diary was not completed” perhaps because she’s grieving Bucky? the sound of your guitar shaped, semi-underground home. We have lots of slopes here, you could be our neighbor.
Lanette boy could I fritter hours away looking at those house plans! Lovely.
Tracey sounds like a thoughtful exercise. My bad year was 2005, BFF passed, first cousin passed, bio mom passed, left Joe and broke my wrist requiring surgery. The good that came from it was the counseling we got that made our marriage and my life so much better. your Grandpa’s creative, resourceful, zipper solution
Allie adding my prayers to Debbie’s for Tracy’s successful surgery. Thankful for Alfie coming when you called. So scary!
Heather Hope that voice said our transition was peaceful. Like you and Johnny, both Joe and I need our own spaces. Our 1300 sq foot doublewide cottage is just about perfect, size wise. Interior finishes and décor, not so much ;{ Need to stop coveting what I see on HGTV. Joe would never tolerate the disruption that would be required to change all the flooring, cabinets, etc. Just as well, we can’t afford it anyway. ;}
Welcome @Kellymackey1965 ! Would you let us know what you’d like to be called and your general locale?
Ginny Happy Birthday! “66… doesn’t feel as old as it once seemed…” Ditto 70. Maybe it’s the new 40?
Michele does your church livestream mass?
Katla hooray for your yoga class!
Machka Operation Relaxationi. Well done! “I find I feel so much better about life if I can see outside” Truth this! Our home would benefit from more windows… and a lighter color on the walls, but I am a pi$$ poor painter and Joe like’s the fake wood paneling. Good strategy so glad it worked and Rhody's safe.[sigh].
Terri like the Van Gogh quote on your profile.
Have been craving ice cream for the past two days. Fortunately have none in the freezer. Yesterday was able to stave off by chilling an apple and eating it. Tonight I’m seriously contemplating digging out the frozen limeade and trying to make one of Michele’s yoghurt pops.
Joe’s up, so I’ll make tea and sit with him a bit instead.

Good morning my friends. Things here continue to remain repetitive. I had a birthday Thursday and turned 71. All my family is well and so far have avoided the virus.
Heather the pics of your grand children are beautiful, hard to believe they are getting so big.
My seven month old great-grandson is crawling. I've not yet got to meet him so I'm so thankful for social media and internet.
We had a horrible ice storm last week and the pecan orchard was all but destroyed, it looks like a jungle. It will take months to get all the broken limbs cleaned up. My daughter and two of my grandkids were without power for a week or more. My daughter came and stayed with us.
I think of you often my dear friends. I'm going to start dropping in daily when possible. The group is hard to keep up with as you all know. My weight remains within +/- 5 pounds.

The park photos are so appealing! We could see all the trees on a mountainside as we rode to the store today and they had finally peaked and were just beautiful!
Has anyone heard from Karen in VA? She is missed!
