Tired today-stayed up way too late watching election results-which I do every major election since 1972. Can't really understand why I find it all so fascinating, but I do. Someday we will know the results! I was thinking that with all of our technology, we still just have to give things time. I do feel bad for the pole workers in the close states especially-they must feel like they are working under a microscope. I know several of our local workers here and they take the job very seriously. We are lucky to have people in both parties to be so dedicated to the process at the local level.

One very happy note-we had a Children Services renewal on our county ballot. We weren't able to do much campaigning due to pandemic. With minimal things (some signs, some Child Abuse Awareness things, and a facebook page) it passed with 60% of the vote. This was one of the reasons I had not yet retired. I can check that off my list and make it through one more budget development with my team. I am having them present the draft to me this year so they feel comfortable developing it.

Christmas-I love it. I love buying presents. Don't know if I will put large tree up this year-may just go for some of my lighted decorations and a small ceramic tree. But I will definitely have decorations.

Now you all have me thinking about eating breakfast. May try delaying it a bit-I have been getting awfully hungry mid morning.

Going to go check on a couple of things and get to bed at a decent time tonight.

    Take care all,

:) One of the best decisions we made many years ago was to stop giving and receiving gifts for holidays. We told our friends and family and most paid attention. What a stress reducer. We send small checks to our grandchildren on their birthdays and nothing more.

:)Rebecca, I'm so glad your day of the liver biopsy went smoothly and you are safely home.

:) Jake has watched the voting results on TV all his adult life and this year is no exception. I have tried to keep my distance by dancing in the other room with the door closed and watching TV with headphones. I was happy to hear that one local candidate that I like a lot has been re-elected and one local candidate that I seriously disliked was defeated by a good margin.

walked with my friend- not the 90 min I have been doing but did get 75min of non stop walking around the park. Had to clean my window of my car before I drove over- some jerk egged my window(back driver side)- plus ankle has been really hurting in the front tendon area. Walked slow to start but was able to stretch it a bit and feels better now than it did.
Came home and had dinner- sausage, steamed broccoli and a persimmon(raw and so crunchy)
Now having my Sweet and Spicy cinnamon tea- trying to figure out what else I want to eat. I am still a bit hungry and am only at 682 cal so far.
I am still struggling getting a nice balance- either go over a tiny bit over my 1000 or like today, have some to spare. If I go by MFP, I could actually eat another 849 but no way that will happen.

Evelyn - I have been having “the wants” too. Unlike you, I have just been fulfilling the wants. I think 🤔 to the underlying stress that the whole world is feeling.

Kelly - thankfully Colin saw that picture! I love giving sentimental type gifts and fight each year to outdo myself. My Father in Law appreciates my gifts and is more vocal about it than anyone.
Love how you gave Colin his phone.
    Hope you caught a nap!

Machka - I am the same way when I eat breakfast. I swear it’s a switch too.

Heather - so happy you were able to get out and enjoy a meal.

Debbie - laziness and boredom get me too. At work stress get me and all the stupid treats around seem to beckon.

Beth - “elves wings” 😂 Thats genius. My biggest thing was Santa didn’t come to a dirty house and I had my girls help clean.

Here is a funny little story - in 1995 my girls were 7 and 5, my FIL had Santa come to their house on Christmas Eve for the grandchildren. It was a later night than normal so we were concerned about getting the girls settled and still having things to do after they went to bed. On the way home Rodger saw the red lights flashing on a cell phone tower and pointed it out to the girls, he said “there’s Santa he’s getting close, you’ll have to go to bed quick when we get home”. Those girls were so fast getting to bed and going to sleep! The next summer Lauryn noticed the lights and said why is Santa here? Kaitlyn told her he must be checking in and that made for good behaviour for about two weeks!

Cathy - loved the birthday card from Carson, I bet that made you feel older than you did before you opened it.

Lanette - I love red grapes but haven’t found any that are very good for a long time.

Rebecca - glad the biopsy is done and over with. Would you not want to decorate for you and your husband to brighten your days? I understand not having anyone home but I do it for me no one else.

The year my Dad passed away I didn’t get back from NB until Dec 16th. He has passed on December 9th. At first I thought I wouldn’t decorate or do anything. By the 19th I had decided that wouldn’t do, Christmas was one of Dad’s favourite holidays as much as mine and I wouldn’t be honouring his memory by not decorating. I dug it all out and decorated and for the first time in years left it up until past his birthday on January 4th.

Tomorrow at work we are having a team building day and will not be doing actual work. It will make for a long day I imagine.

I was told today that my colour is Gold and that I should take that personality test. I’m not sure what test that is I’m supposed to do. I’ll have to look it up.

I think I’m going to take a bath, put my clothes jammies on and then watch some tv.

    Tracey in Edmonton

Thank you for sharing the story of the girls at Christmas- so sweet.

It is a combination of boredom eating and the fact that I work at home. I have one daycare girl so in the kitchen a lot(or walking past)-snack, lunch, snack, etc. I try to keep healthy stuff on hand but husband doesn't think about the stuff he is eating- if it tastes good, he will be eating it. He is diabetic but doesn't watch his food intake-

Debbie - I am so fortunate that DH is also watching his weight and trying to be healthier. We don’t keep a lot of junk snacks in the house. If we really want chips or pop we have to go to the store to get a small bag.

Our biggest issue is my laziness at making supper on weeknights. He would make it if I told him what to make, but he used a lot of spices and such that I don’t like so he doesn’t like cooking for me. I am a very fussy eater and don’t blame him for not wanting to cook for me. We recently traded crockpots with our eldest daughter and I’ve used it a couple of times in the last couple of weeks to help.

Rebecca- Congratulations on getting your DH’s visit to the University of Washington’s Medical Center done. It sounds like they had blood work to do along with his ultrasound and biopsy. I am amazed on how much your DH got done in a single visit. WTG!!! I hope the test results are excellent. :star:
Athena is a charmer. Thank you for sharing the photo.

I’ve had a long day watching CNN election reporting. I am ready to get some rest and find out what comes next tomorrow morning.

I might decorate a bit, but mostly to go through what I have and reorganize it. I have some toy themed items I want to put in my middle son, DIL and Athenas Christmas box. I have some knitted slippers that might fit her, that I have held on to 30 years that my grandma knitted. I normally fit them on a teddybear that I have.

My dear husband doesn't care one way or another. After being in the military and going thru so many Christmas's where it is like any other day, he is indifferent to it all.

    Athena is adorable!

Maybe a few decorations would be festive for you. You have so many cute things to display, if I remember correctly.

    Take care.

We recently traded crockpots with our eldest daughter and I’ve used it a couple of times in the last couple of weeks to help.

Mine will come home with two or three of the big bags of chips, a dozen fresh doughnuts, Chinese food, fast food.... Pizza, he picks up two large ones. I have tried to get him to cut back a little. Like tonight, his calorie intake from just dinner was more than mine for the whole day. I had one sausage, two cups of steamed broccoli and a raw persimmon. He had three sausage in hot dog buns w/ mayo and relish and chips. No veggies or fruit.
I cook all the meals but he brings the snacks stuff in or picks food for me to cook that are not the best choices. He is half Japanese(and half Yugo) so likes large portions of white sticky rice.
He does not cook at all, never has. When I am gone this weekend, visiting my parents, I am sure he and son will go pick up food instead of cooking or even warming up something I have cooked. For the most part, his blood sugar is pretty good and spikes with stress more than what he eats but he knows he needs to loose weight. Knowing and actually working on it are two different things for sure with him.
Since I started walking with my friend three weeks ago, dinners are a bit more rushed but he seems to be ok with what I am doing.
I am hoping one day he will join me on my walk.

Rebecca, so glad to hear that all went well with the travelling. You're right, getting up at 4 a.m. is only acceptable if you have to pee and can go right back to bed! lol
Tracey, I have only resisted the "wants" for two days now, we will see how it goes.......
Debbie, my hubby used to come home with all kinds of junk too, we used to live close to a corner store and he used to smoke. So he'd wander to the store for smokes and come back with chocolate bars for both of us. And smokes, of course. Then he had a heart attack and hasn't smoked since. He has also since retired and we have gone down to just one vehicle, so if I'm at work, he has no way of getting anywhere and we live much further from the corner store now! I do buy treats for both of us, so he's not that hard done by. He also does not need to lose weight, which is annoying to say the least!
Pip, loved the pic of Yogi and Kirby!
I had a rather lazy day today. Had planned on going to the gym, but ended up with a headache last night that didn't go away even with drugs. Decided this morning to try cold medication and away it went, so apparently my sinuses were annoyed about something. I'm just glad it went away, I always want to eat when I have a headache because food is the cure for everything, right? sigh, could be the reason why I have weight issues.... :#
Anyway, got a few spots touched up, paint wise. There were a few chips on doors and doorways that just needed 30 seconds of TLC, so did that. Then started working on a project that I started many years ago. I bought a kit to make felt Christmas decorations. Then I came into possession of a second one. The plan was to make them for my kids, but that didn't work out, so I have now decided that the grandkids will each get one set. I have most of the decorations done, just have a Santa from the second kit to do. He's gonna be the tough one, so many pieces! I will try to remember to take a photo of the finished set and post it.
And now it's time to go to bed. Keeping my fingers crossed for a peaceful outcome for the election to the south of me! Hugs to those who need them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Today I was in Walgreens looking for an item and ran into one of my fellow yoga students. She asked me to come back to Yoga. I didn't know it had resumed. I'm delighted and plan to go to yoga this coming Friday. I have missed it for long months due to CoVID worries.

@Machka9 Thanks for the suggestion. We are allowed out 1h per week. My employer is supposed to give me a pass to go to work but I don't have it yet. He's not a great person. It's also a little chilly to work outside. An hour or so would possibly be maximum. It's 40 degrees Fahrenheit at present, with a max of 65. I did give students an assignment of telling a short story with foreshadowing, that takes place before the pandemic or before the lockdown.

I thought my students were doing pretty well relatively speaking last time. Today 2 groups seemed ok but one group who is a good group usually seemed particularly glum. I don't know if it's the lockdown or the elections. I think we have to do some accompanying as well as some teaching.

1 hour of exercise per week?

One of my assignments during our first shutdown was to research misinformation as it pertains to the pandemic, and in particular, the effects misinformation has on different aspects of society.

Although I already had a pretty good idea about misinformation, there were things which surprised me. It was an interesting assignment.

    New Ways November
5: Change your normal routine and notice how you feel. Did that Tuesday with fasting blood work. Didn’t feel good.

    Blessed mist, welcome rain!

Some mornings it just doesn’t pay to try too hard to do right. Snapped the door flap off my new Dyson. Was panicky and distraught. Joe said “doesn’t look broken, you just have to snap it back in, let me get my glasses.” Tried while he went into the other room, bingo bango, fixed! But now that he’s back in the house (from loading up my traction tires) my vacuuming window has “snapped” shut ;)

Evelyn great strategy to stave off the “wants” by brushing your teeth. “Peaceful outcome” from your mouth to God’s ear.
Kelly fingers X’d for your client’s negative c-19 test. Heck I’m bawling at your picture gift story. You were so young to lose your parents. Was it both at once?
Katla I was disappointed that our county commissioner was unseated by a swell ol’ boy. So many are entrenched in this county, progress is hard. Back in the day, bought my snow boots and hiking boots in the boys sections too. Astounding price differences. Hmm. Could it be time for me to go shoe shopping in person? There’s an REI in Medford…
Machka eating breakfast sometimes flips my hungry switch on too. Sometimes a walnut half helps to flip it off. “No Nativity this year because…”
Fae I’m bawling at your Javier story. Not just his purpose in life but yours too. What a gift! Thanks for the genetic counseling/testing for cancer link. Will definitely ask my PCP next week, as both bio mom (twice, 20 yrs apart) and half sis (3 kinds at once) had breast cancer.
Pip  Thought pip was watching Kirby. They are both such handsome dogs ;)
Rita from snow to 88F? Wow that’s quite some temperature swing!
Debbie YES to keeping busy to forget to eat too much. NO, you do not sound lazy to me!
Flea ((hugs)) In the past we’ve had vets who came to our home to give our pets their final release. “Gentle Goodbyes” was the best. Cost extra but well worth it. Not sure if possible in this pandemic world. ((hugs))
Welcome @fancy2814 ! Con VERY grats on your gym success today!
    Beth “Elves wings”
Cathy in TX belated best bday wishes. Your line dance class mates look like a fun group. Envious of that big, beautiful floor giving double safe social distancing. I miss mine a lot! Avoiding inside gatherings ‘til Joe’s eye issues are resolved and he’s released from the surgeon’s care
Lanette agree with you about the pesticides on grapes, they’re number 6 on the Dirty Dozen list. https://www.greenmatters.com/p/2020-dirty-dozen-clean-15
Rebecca if not decorating/baking makes you sad, then go ahead and do it. But if it stresses you, don’t. The Covid Christmas WILL be one of our pandemic stories, hope you can find a way to make it a good one. Skyping with stateside sons and Athena Rose? Having the house to yourself with your Chief? Bet you can think of something to do… ;)
Tracey is the “personality color” part team building event? Good luck. I do not like pop psych team-building, Sam I am!
Ginny con VERY grats on the Childrens’ Services renewal.
Julie “allowed out 1 hr per week”??? :noway: SMH!
    Suebdew where are you?

Tire gal told me it would take about 1.5 hrs to swap out my tires. Took 2.5 hrs. :rage: Got a good walk in to the library. Picked up a package at the post office that was way bigger and heavier than anticipated, made the walk back to the tire store a real workout. Silver linings.

    Lighter, lovelies!
