Hello and Welcome~
Success comes in all size packages. I commend each person on here that finds either inspiration or a tidbit of knowledge from checking in or following. One sip less, one drink less or one month less of alcohol is and always has been each individuals own choice on this thread. At their own speed. Like it says One Day At A Time.
No color, age, gender is revealed unless the user puts it out there. Personally I did not hop on board for any other reason than to get support to DRINK LESS. I did not chime in because it was all women back in January 2018, or because it was folks my age posting or because we all shared the same hobby. I learn from those older than me and from those younger. You all have your own special value that you bring to this place.
When in limbo we find sharing or venting about some of our personal life helpful, and it is and we appreciate you opening that little piece of your world to us. It is all part of the process of wanting or needing to drinking less. Because in the end we share the same goal regardless of the amount of alcohol, the length of alcohol free days or the past we had to swim through to get to this point of coming together as a group.

Inspiring posts from some users in the past~
*
I’ve lurked in this topic thread beginning last month but haven’t posted, until now. I find this an inspiring thread. Many personal points shared and no one getting slammed…. Refreshing…
I’ve lost 50 lbs and have pretty much maintained that and did it mostly from moderation, but can tell you without a doubt… alcohol played an important part for me. I never gave it up 100%, but did cut way, way, way back – which I’m certain helped me.
There are times I go weeks without any. There are times I save it for the weekend. There are times I have 1 a day all
week long.
Whatever your reason or motivation – do what works best for you and you’ll never regret it.

Thank you so much for starting this thread! My goal is to go a solid three weeks with no alcohol, but hoping that will be extended.
I want to lose 20 pounds, but more than that, I need to be healthy for my young kids. For far too long, I have been using wine as my comfort. Bad day? have some wine! Good day? have some wine! This Is Us is on... have some wine:D
I want better sleep and more fitness. I love reading the comments because I know I am not alone in this.
Good luck to all.

I drank more than I wanted to on New Year's eve...fail : ( I did at least keep my promise to myself to get up in the morning and meet my running group for a "kick off the year right" run and then breakfast. It was no easy task since it was -1F outside, but I managed and it definitely put me in a positive mind set for January. No alcohol yesterday, which wasn't too tough because my husband wasn't drinking either.
I do have a bit of a confession to make. The thought of a dry life kind of scares me. Like so many of you have expressed, my life in many ways seems to revolve around alcohol. I know that is sad, but it's the reality of it. Does anyone else feel frightened about the changes they will need to make in order to stay alcohol free. I have to admit that this is the number one reason that I keep saying I need to cut back but not give it up entirely.4 -

Accountabilty ---Accountabilty--- Accountabilty
You can tell yourself you think you need to drink a little or a lot less. But do you always listen to yourself?
Non judgemental group here.
Ask us how we started out, struggled and deal with wanting less alcohol in our lives.
Accountability starts December 1st for those interested.9 -
I totally need this. I have struggled with alcohol addiction back and forth for years. Did great for the past 4 years and have totally relapsed this year. Trying to do better again. I'm tied of this and it certainly hasn't helped my weight.12
-
I'm for December....no wine for me until Christmas Eve and thereafter plan to drink on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. So 3 drinking days total.
Top 3 reasons: I will lose weight, I will avoid the depressive effects, and I will save $

Welcome......I get everything your saying. Why work so hard on fitness goals only to have them sabotaged by over drinking with those EMPTY calories that have no good nutritional value.6 -
👍👍👍 YAY @globalhiker you are always an inspiration for us. Glad to have you back with your mini holiday AF streak in force.7

I'm in again for December, and up for the no drinks until Christmas Eve challenge!7

@cryingblue did you happen to check out our information page? Here is the link. You can keep it handy to refer back to if we are slow getting back to you.4

I want to say thanks for your responses to my posts. Having other people that are in the same boat as me with booze really is a help. Every one seems to be making up different goals, I will to. On even days for right now I will have 5 beers out of my nightly 6 pack. On odd days I I will allow myself the 6 beers, if I dont drink them all bonus round.
November was tough. Bad hangovers are tougher. I will take November over hang overs7 -

Good morning WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME to our new location.
"MOTIVATION & SUPPORT"
We have a huge history of both of those within the pages, months and years that this thread has been active. Our hopes are that you will read or share how less alcohol can make your life more comfortable. Non of us want to give it up completely. Yet like most, we need it to be manageable for our own personal reasons. Be it weight loss goals or a need to wake up with out a foggy head more than a few days a week.
So today, I begin December 1st 2020 with a fresh slate, great attitude and a big smile 😁😁😁 to not fall off completely and be dragged behind that wagon. Leaning slightly over the sides now and then, but if I feel I might lean to much I get in here and get the support I need from you.
My end of November success was:
4 days with consuming drinks
26 days AF(alcohol free)
😎

@Lilylady3k love love love your break down. NOW that is some serious accountability.
Lets kick DECEMBER!4 -
Thank you for this outlet of support. I need to cut back on alcohol which will help with weight loss and overall health. Even if I could just have zero drinks during the week that would be a victory.8

Congrats on facing your challenges and SOOOooooooo many days AF for November. Inspiring. I like your note about beginning today with a fresh slate and great attitude! Thank you for continuing to lead our group.

Here's to a successful Dec 1 for all.....
I have to remind myself I am in charge of creating my good day.
And if I stay in a positive mood, I will do better at chasing my goals.

@MissMay-I love the “clean slate” outlook!
I’m rolling into December with 3 AF days under my belt. I’ve gotten back into some important quilting projects that require a sober mind. It’s already Tuesday and I too am striving towards AF week nights.
It’s nice to have everyone here!

Day 1 I'm excited. I read the posted "what we are about stuff"
I have charted my AF days for a while now and in November I only had 4 AF days. Yikes
October I had 9 AF days.
My goal for December is 20 AF days.
A trigger for me is alone time. Husband works nights and works alot and I tend to drink then or while he sleeps during the day. He is not much of a drinker anymore ( maybe 1 drink a month) I sneak it, it's bad. I hate having that secret between us. There is no wine in the house!
I have lurked on this group off and on for years. Time to come out and really do this. I had a logging streak off 1100 plus days on MFP, but got a major life derailing in September. I'm working hard to pull myself back together.11 -
I'm rolling in with 4 AF days and plan continue at least until Christmas after a major incident on Thanksgiving. I guess if there's an upside, I'm rolling in at my lowest weight in years (because I'd been doing well until Thu) and just want to get and stay healthy and no more incidents. Thank you, @MissMay for your facilitating this group's continuance and never ending support. It's a great place. It's a safe place.10

Staying AF didn't happen yesterday.... My car broke down after work and by the time I got home I just wanted a drink to unwind. Only had 1 though which is a win!
0 AF days / 1 day
Goal: 5 AF days / 7 days9 -
@mainelylisa so glad you are doing this...I appreciate you, and @MissMay and all the good people on here helping to push me towards my goals. If we get a good wave going, we can ride it.....5

You did amazing. Major win.....for sure! I would've gone for 2+ (how much more depends on the repair cost)4 -
Well mom & I tackled her wine rack to see if there was anything good. First 2 bottles tossed 2002 and 2006 Cab ... TERRIBLE! Corks had gone bad and the wine was gross. 3rd bottle was a cheap 2012 Hess Cab. It was "okay". DH tasted and wouldn't touch it. Mom and I each drank 1 glass then down the drain the rest went LOL
No plans to check the other bottles after this experience. She can tackled them with my sister when she comes to visit. I'm no longer the guinea pig.

Is it drinking if you don't swallow? I have seen wine tasters examine the wine through the glass, sniff and swirl then spit.
Just saying. 🤔🤔🤔3
