Katla – I’m so happy for you in that you found a dentist you like. Every time I use that flosser, I think of you.

M and pip – which famous museum has an active bike path running thru it?

:)Rebecca, Thanks for letting me know that you got the Christmas card. You're the only person who got a card from me. I loved that you wrote a personal message and enclosed a little ornament cut out. Your display of cards sounds great.

:) I listened to "A Christmas Carol" as an audio book during my walks. Now I am watching several versions of the movie starting with "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol". In only an hour it stayed close to the original story and used a lot of the language of the book, and it has some great songs.

    Hooray Machka!!!!! <3<3:D
You deserve that happiness. And the video is something to treasure for ever.

    Tracey - Are you OK?

Lisa- How's your health right now? Did the antibiotics do the trick?

Love to all . I'm getting a bit of pre - Christmas angst and I'm not even doing Christmas. Force of habit. :# My son said he is getting Edie's art stuff on Monday, but DDIL thinks I would have better ideas than him. :# I said please bring it round, with Max's game for me to wrap. Whether we will get to see them in the garden before Christmas is anyone's guess. Weather not looking marvellous. Oh well, I plan to pop up the road and pick up one or two extras from the art shop to add to the other's presents.
I first started getting Christmas angst when I was around 13 and by 16 it was in full flood. Not a good time of year for a perfectionist.

@auntiebk Barbara awesome that Joe is losing weight. maybe that'll rub off on people around. that can happen. thanks. getting away seems complex this year. sometimes when I have nothing planned I go to the seaside for a night or two, but with all cafés and restaurants closed, and everything else too, it just doesn't seem appealing... 16h in the dark inside in the hotel, 8h daylight or so, outside max, but with no place to take a break inside to eat, have a coffee, no visits, walks, ocean-water-fed indoor pool closed, etc, etc.

Exercise bike (yet to assemble) arrived today.

Barbara - Thank you for the compliments. :D The drapes etc were all in situ when we moved in. I bought the table for my last house. Great for entertaining (one day again). I always try to have flowers on there. Every morning we sit having breakfast looking out of the windows at the amusing wildlife. The fox has been paying us a visit recently. The dining extension was a big reason we bought the house. I'm keen on a flow from kitchen to dining to outside for entertaining. It's all open flow.
A cheddar truckle is a small cheddar cheese in a form that imitates a whole cheese. It will have a mature rind.
I have opened and sampled the Camembert. :D Today we had sandwiches with the ham. Tomorrow we will make a pasta dish with the ham. We are giving the biscuits to the family (don't eat them) and the cheese sticks. Keeping the savoury biscotti for lunches with cheese. Keeping the pickled shallots, but the chutney will have to find another home. ;) No problem with the blue cheese, the smoked salmon and my favourite gravadlax. <3 Wine is not up to DH's standards, but it will surely get drunk.
Next door has given us a huge tin of biscuits. They will be going to the homeless. I did that last year.
I stirfried the huge bag of chopped kale with smoked pancetta, nduja (Italian spicy pork paste), onions, and mushrooms. Had it with sea bass. Yummo!

Barbara - the mouthwash study I was referring to is on Dr. Been's site:

From other research I ran across yesterday, not all folks agree on efficacy of certain mouthwashes/gargles.

BUT, I think gargling with Everclear then swallowing would have a 100% success rate. :D Just don't gargle and drive!

:)Machka, Congratulations on your graduation. Your accomplishment is worthy of great admiration. You have have worked hard for this. The photo of you and your husband is great.

:)Debbie, congrats on your car. It looks awesome.

:'(Kelly sorry about your back <3

:)Michele Do you really need to work? You seem awfully dissatisfied with the whole thing.

:) My friend in California who lives in a very pricy upscale senior community (many people in their 90's) was told that they are scheduled to get the vaccine in January. My friend here who is a nurse at the cancer center and her husband who is a nurse at the ER at the hospital are scheduled for vaccines soon.

:) I was a child when the Salk polio vaccine became available. I remember being terrified at the doctor's office because it was an injection and I hated needles. I was not able to connect my mother's joy at the vaccine with the fact that her brother had died of polio when I was three years old. A few years later when the Sabin vaccine was available orally in a sugar cube, I was resentful that I had been subjected to the injection.

Barbara - I was so enthused by your compliment about my flowers that I popped in at the flower shop when I went out to buy bread and milk. I love going in there because it is owned by two gay guys who are always up for a chat. :D Bought some lovely pink and white ones. They sell very nice cards as well.
The shops around the corner are just like an old fashioned village. Butcher, deli, general store, flower shop, two hairdressers, newsagent, beautician, estate agent, two cafés. Even a car repair workshop. It's the reason we wanted to move to this area of Hove. If you remember, this house was the third one we tried to buy within a couple of hundred yards of each other. Third time lucky. The whole process took two years, with disappointments on the journey. We are thrilled to be living here. Most of the time it is very peaceful with lots of birds and birdsong. Very friendly people.

Took my car to the shop for the check engine light and oil change. Found out that there were multiple things wrong or going wrong. Paid over $600 to do the oil change and get them to do enough to get the light to go off. The cost for the other upcoming things would be about three times what the car is worth(that is what husband says) SO, he stopped at the Nissan dealership and a few HOURS later, I drove home in a new(new to me) 2017 Nissan Sentra with just 16000 miles on it- was a lease return.

It is going to be great to drive a car that is basically brand new and not have to worry, especially when I am making the extra trips to see my parents like I am planning on doing.

Congratulations! It's better to have a car in which you have confidence if you're doing a lot of driving. Enjoy the new ride!

I love that one too! When we were in Rome many moons ago, we made our friend take us to places that were in the movie Roman Holiday. It was fun for me, but the other two were lost, though they are significant sights. They just didn't understand why I had them running all over the city to very specific places.

Thank you Tina and everyone else!!
It really will be nice to have something I know won't give me any trouble. The drive to my parents is just over an hour but about half is back roads with a little town with no real help and I am going up by myself.
My husband totaled up what he has spent on the Honda in the past five years- over $8000 so he was more than ready to get rid of it.
The only thing that irritated me was a little thing(and he still doesn't get it) was when the sales man was saying to me, that Oh, I was lucky that my husband was buying me a new car. NO- our money goes into the same bank accounts so WE are buying the car. He has a newer car- Mercury Milan so this is for me to drive.
That and him constantly saying, ok, we are almost done...... hours later we finally got to go home. I was starving. Was not planning on sitting at the dealership for almost 3 hrs

Sue in WA: It is good to see your post. It is great that your niece came to take your mom to CA for Christmas. I admire your ability with music. :star:

Terri: I am very happy with my new dentist. She is excellent.

Machka: Three Cheers! You have met an important goal! You and your DH both look proud and happy. Congratulations!!! :star:

Barbara & Lanette: I have used Vitamin D3 for years as a mood booster. This is new information and encouraging. Thank you for the mouthwash video!!! :flowerforyou:

Barbie: Our critical care teams will get vaccinated early according to news from the Governor’s office. I see them as essential and applaud that decision. I am looking forward to vaccination sometime in January. For now, masks and social distancing are working well for us. I miss social gatherings with friends and I miss yoga classes. I’ll be ready to go when the gyms & health clubs are allowed to reopen. :star:

Debbie in Napa Valley: Congratulations on your new car! Enjoy!

Faetta: I may have been at fault with the disagree button, but did not do it on purpose. My hand twitched at just the wrong time. I am sorry if it caused you sadness or embarrassment. I was not able to undo it. I tried without success. I certainly did not do it on purpose. :embarassed:

Regarding vaccinations: As a child I got my small pox vaccination as soon as they were available. My parents were diligent about vaccinations. I still have a vaccination scar on my arm. I have a longtime friend who had polio as a child and wound up with a bit of a limp. I look forward for all of us to be protected by the new vaccines to protect us from Corona Virus.

I am ready to bring our living Christmas Tree into the living room, and I hope today will be the day. It is a joy to set the tree on the chest in front of our window and then have the fun of getting out treasured ornaments and placing them on the tree. The light strings on the tree make me happy. This time of year almost any light makes me happier but Christmas lights are fun.

    Fae - (((hugs)))

My DDIL sent us videos of the kids' end of term concerts. They were online only. Oh how fabulous! :D
My grandkids go to a Bilingual School in Hove. This was chosen by lack of options as the standard schools were full at the time. It has proved to be wonderful! A very good school with the added benefit of learning a language (Spanish) at a young age.
Bea is in class Colombia and Edie is in Ecuador. Not sure about Max.
The videos were huge fun with Bea loving every moment. :p She is a natural performer. <3 Last year Edie did not enter into the spirit, so I was pleased to see her participating.
They have employed a Spanish au pair for a couple of years, and when they went to Majorca the locals complimented the kids on their accents. :p

I have ordered Edie glue and sequin threads to go with her wooden hearts. <3

Fae you are correct when you go back and hit another button that will void what you put the first time. This happens to me when I am torn between given a hug and a like. It will not let me do both. So if I change the like to a hug the like disappears. You are also right the disagree could have come from anyone because when do get visitors who don't post but read what we say or as others said someone could have hit it accidentally and do not know they did hence they don't change it. Only they can change it.

You also pointed out this negativity on other sites so this is why this the only forum I read and post on in fitness pal. I tried posting outside here and you can get very negative people and posts. I think unfortunately when people believe they are anonymous they say more disagreeable comments.

    Glad to see your post.
