My dad got hacked by ransomware and he gave his banking info to the "tech support" number that showed up. I got him to call the bank but they wanted a password that he doesn't have so they wouldn't talk to him. We are so vulnerable and now he feels bad so he is hoping the whole thing will blow over. My stomach is in knots. This part of caregiving is terrifying.3

The bank should be able to verify his identity another way. If the front line support won't, ask for a manager and explain the situation. Keep going up the chain until someone helps. Keep notes of names, times, and dates you speak to people.
I am very surprised they wouldn't talk to him. They are ultimately responsible for fraudulent charges, especially if they are reported that quickly.

Me i got out for my INR bloodwork and stopped to see the pups at Toms house.. they were sooo excited...and of course it was great to see them...
But wow it takes alot out of you.. going out..

I refuse to accept the nonownership of negative actions
I made a post in good faith about the disagree button and my disagrees jumped from 12 to 32 overnight. I received a couple of patronizing and insulting responses to which I answered in general, labeling the kind of people that would participate in such behavior. This was a violation of the strict forum rule about negative labeling even though it was in general and to no one personally. I received a warning.
My land!! I do not believe any of those disagrees were from regular contributors here. I have to believe you were being trolled by someone (some people) who do not regularly participate in this particular thread. I know the women in this group, not super well, but I have participated for a few years now, and I can say confidently that they would never do that. This is a very supportive thread, even when we don't agree about everything. No one would purposefully hurt another person, and 32 disagrees is purposeful, in my opinion, which makes me think that they are from trolls.

I'm hoping to sleep better tonight.
I have been so annoyed with my son for offering, then dilly dallying with the Christmas purchases. I have bought some things, told him what I have bought and he is happy with that. He will get a few more bits next Monday and bring them round Tuesday for wrapping. 
I know it's ridiculous to get annoyed by it all, as I know the enormous pressure he is under from work etc, but if he could just have told me what she wanted I could have got it done and dusted. No worries. The usual problem of crossed wires!
Of course I have nothing better to do than sit and ponder and agitate my brain. 
Feel better now.

I wanted to look for a Lauren Bacall movie, but most you have to buy or rent. It's interesting to see each actors movies all listed out. I can say into my Xfinity remote, "show me Cary Grant" and there are a lot of movies free to me, yet Lauren's forget about it. Maybe in their contracts, or wills, it says that movies can't be out there for the general public, who knows.
I watched "Hans Christian Anderson" with Danny Kaye yesterday. And yes I sang along. "Inch Worm, Inch Worm....." He's always been one of my favorites. I looked up Bing Crosby and BOY there are a lot of movies that start out with "The Road To......" I like the one to Morocco, but I haven't seen a lot of the others. :-)

Audrey Hepburn is wonderful in that westeren with John Wayne, "Rooster Cogburn", and of course so endearing with Peter Fonda in "On Golden Pond". I have a tendency to watch movies over and over, like a good book, but for your eyeballs:-)

Fayetta: I'm the guilty party. I wrote a post, made a typo, and tried to fix it. I didn't do it on purpose and had no intentions of hurting your feelings. I hit the undo button 3 times. I couldn't undo a trembling hand because I was upset with my own typo. Then I was timed out.

Rebecca, Thanks for letting me know that you got the Christmas card. You're the only person who got a card from me. I loved that you wrote a personal message and enclosed a little ornament cut out. Your display of cards sounds great. I listened to "A Christmas Carol" as an audio book during my walks. Now I am watching several versions of the movie starting with "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol". In only an hour it stayed close to the original story and used a lot of the language of the book, and it has some great songs. Barbie in NW WA
Well, I buy the cheap 20 pack of cards for a $1 at the dollar store, I always feel like I need to write MORE I bought 4 20 packs for next year today. All the cards I receive this year will be cut up for bookmarks or to just take on the cards next year. My husband just rolled his eyes at me when I told him I needed to go to the Dollar Store today before they all get sold out. I told him flat out, "Card writing and letter writing keeps me outta YOUR hair dear, so your welcome"! Haaahaa!

Heather - thank you for asking. The answer on the antibiotics is that I'm hoping they worked, but reserving judgment for now. Will make that decision between New Year's and Christmas.

So this afternoon I have the rest of my hollandaise sauce over poached eggs, and bacon. I tried my best yesterday to do a complete fast, but it wasn't meant for me. after going onto the computer after noon, I logged off and announced to "no one in particular" I AM HANGRY". I that I attacked the frig getting out stuff for a salad.
Spinach leaves (a heavy handful)
cut up 1/2 tomato
6 slices of pickled beet
bacon (from the little baggies for salad, but not that fake bacon stuff)
candied walnuts (homemade)
black sliced olives
drizzled with yogurt avocado dressing
Then an hour later
beef broth and toast.
On the good side it wasn't an OOPs day as I had fasted for 20 hours at 2pm. The good thing about fasting, is that you can't really mess up. I mean some days are better than others with everything.
Today I mailed the last of my late Christmas cards. Hey, to me, the holidays are Dec and Jan anyway. I had 4 international cards, so I just put 3 stamps on them. Even though an international stamp is $1.20, the thought of standing in line to save 45 cents on a card seems silly. Time is money, and time in a line where I could get COVID is not worth the hassle.
We are getting another wind advisory warning. I guess the "King Tides" are going strong out on the Oregon coast. That roar, its a reminder that mother nature is in control!

That is what got me a warning. Labeling even in general unidentified members using the t-word is considered an attack on other members. I am serious and was shocked that such violated their rules. We are supposed to report any we suspect of trolling, but how can you when they are anonymous? You are never supposed to make a post accusing anyone even unknown for such behavior.
Katla no worries and one disagree isn't a big deal even if it was done on purpose. It is the frequency that I find disturbing and no way of knowing who does it. it could be guys that I have denied to add as friends.
Anyway, I have decided that it isn't worth thinking about anymore. Somebody got to feel important issuing me a warning and good for them. Glad I could make someone's day hahaha!5 -

You didn't hurt my feeling. I am an old country girl and such doesn't hurt my feelings. When I get a shipload of negative emotions for expressing my opinion, it fires up the warrior mode in me. Not hurt feelings, but disgust for unidentified opposition.2 -

I find Creme de Menthe a very good cure for winter ailments! Just had two tonight.
Proud of DH tonight. After a little prompting from me (he hates phoning) he rang his 94 yr old aunt, on his father's side, for a Christmas chat. He really enjoyed it. She was totally compos mentis, but in a quandary as to what to do about Christmas. Her family are not very intelligent, to say the least, and are planning a gathering of around 11 people. She doesn't really want to go.
She used to look after DH when he was a little boy and his mother was having a bipolar interlude. He was shipped off to stay with her and she has always had a soft spot for him. He was adopted and I think she felt sorry for him. She was quite young then. The poor boy was often farmed out to friends and neighbours. His father was a Baptist minister, so parishioners lent a hand when his mother couldn't cope. Christmas was nearly always very difficult.
How far we have both come!

This time of year almost any light makes me happier but Christmas lights are fun. Katla, I have to agree, to the point where I plug in the tree and the string that is in front of the (electric) fireplace, even though I'm going to work in a few hours! Hopefully, hubby enjoys the light when he gets up! Well, honestly, don't care if he does or not, I really like seeing it in the morning and enjoy seeing it lit up when I get home.

Allie, would you be able to go home with Alfie and some sort of home support? Sounds like you would be far more comfortable in your own home, not to mention happier having Alfie with you.

I loved Rooster Cogburn, and I think John Wayne did a great job portraying his character. I always liked Katherine Hepburn in any role she played.
John Franklin "Rooster" Cogburn was one of my great cousins. The family came from Cockburn Scotland where they were known for raising champion fighting roosters. Rooster had a cousin Fayette a tough mountain man and sharpshooter. They were involved in killing a man that messed with their women. Family rumor of old was that was where I got my name and tough mountain woman ways and became a dead eye sharpshooter with rifle or revolver. As they say in the Liberty Insurance ad, I don't see it hahaha!5 -
