    DrKatie I don't see a link.

Fae, just type ngumc.org into your address bar and it will pop up. For some reason, I thought it was against forum rules to provide a direct link so I didn’t.

Heather, thanks for checking it out. I’ll bet I did sound completely southern to you. I live in Northeast Georgia, so come by my southern accent quite naturally.

    Vaccine --
Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine rollout in United Kingdom sees countries around the world up preparations
    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-12/whats-the-worldwide-state-of-play-with-covid-19-vaccines/12975800

    Here in Australia ...
"The Federal Government has deals with Pfizer, Novavax and Oxford University/AstraZeneca, but has stood firm on its original plan to deliver vaccines in March 2021."

But I will likely be one of the last people to get a vaccine, despite the fact that I would have been happy to be in the second or third wave of vaccines. I would not want to be one of the first people to get the vaccine because of things like this, below! They'll need to sort things out first. It's like when Microsoft goes to another version of Windows. I wait a year or so before I get it so that some of the bugs are worked out.

However, in the last few years, I have had allergic reactions to so many things, especially antibiotics and other more powerful drugs than just panadol ... and I'm relatively young. I may not end up with a vaccine until 2022.

UK warns patients with severe allergies to avoid Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine after two patients have reactions
    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-10/uk-regulator-investigating-reactions-to-covid-19-vaccine/12968604

"The Medical and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has said people should not receive the shot if they have had a significant allergic reaction to a vaccine, medicine or food ... "

Meanwhile, it's relatively safe here and it's not like we're going anywhere anyway ... the Australian overseas travel ban has been extended until March 17, 2021. Plus my husband and I continue to be stuck in Tasmania.

    I also quite like ...
    - the fact that people are standing back and giving each other some distance.
    - the emphasis on hygiene.
    - the hand sanitiser at the doors.
    - the focus on cleaning.
    - the option to Zoom rather than go to in-person meetings, events, and things.
    - staying home more.

Did a body pump-type video. With Colby working downstairs, I really don’t want to be exercising in case he needs to work. And I don’t know when I’ll be able to do my strength training next week.

Helped make chocolate covered peanut butter balls for the soup kitchen’s candy fundraiser. Wasn’t too impressed. I tried a bit of their fudge and wasn't impressed with that, either. Then came home and helped put out decorations, then made dinner, ravioli for Jess, Colby and Vince, a stuffed clam for me (since I want to use it up)

Allie – glad you are being discharged and things sort-of worked out for you

Flea – why wouldn’t you be able to get the vaccine?

M – I agree with all your advantages to this current situation

Need to take a shower. Work tomorrow. It seems that I’m working more right now but I guess that’s because people want off for the holiday.

This is an interesting study and I would be even more interested if there were another study done as a comparison between how well a country handled the pandemic and their preferred interpersonal distances.

Preferred Interpersonal Distances: A Global Comparison
    https://bib.irb.hr/datoteka/873645.sorokowska_et_al_2017.pdf

I found the results for Canada amusing ... we Canadians don't like to stand close to people, not even the people we know well!

Australia isn't there, but I'd put Australia at about the USA level, and I find that a bit uncomfortable.

Allie ... so glad to hear that you have been discharged. Let others take care of you for a change. Rest and let your body heal itself.

KarenVA ... good news about our little ballerina!

Flea ... your rant is one I've been wondering about as well.

Reading along and thinking of you all.

I'm so glad I'm not a natural hugger. I've been delighted not to have to hug all and sundry and give double cheek kisses when I meet people, as has become the norm in recent years over here! :# I don't even like hugging my family, although I do it. I miss very, very much spending time with my grandchildren, just huddled together on a sofa watching TV, or doing some art together at a table. Edie is a great hugger, which is fine by me, but Max and Bea are not.
I am very uncomfortable with physical contact, though I do touch good friends' arms from time to time under normal circumstances.
None of the above applies to DH, of course. :D We touch quite a lot and all the usual ....... <3
Because I am an incest survivor, physical touch is not comfortable for me, unless circumstances are very clear indeed. I prefer a good distance and inadvertent touch makes me recoil. I have learnt to do the social norm hug for friends, but I don't like it. I never did it at all until I was in my 20s.
I hate to touch while I am trying to sleep. We have a super king bed, two singles put together, and I like an acre of space between us. I always book twins on a cruise, or hotel.
So, apart from the grandchildren, :'( this has been very relaxing for me!

    I read the article Machka.

Dr Katie- Were you brought up in Georgia? I often find people's images and their voices are completely different. Barbara has a very different voice to my image. :D
Sometimes, when I like a voice, or a persona on the radio, I look them up on Google, and I am usually surprised by what they look like.

I also do not like physical contact. I will hug my husband but I'm not keen on hugging, shaking hands with, touching someone's arm, etc. etc. The 1.5 metre distance we have to stay away from each other is quite comfortable, and as you say, relaxing.

You stay over there, I'll stay over here, we can talk and laugh and socialise ... just don't touch me.

In Canada, that atmosphere is fairly common ... especially in comparison with Australia. Here, I find that people insist in being inside my personal space. They like to hug and give a kiss on the cheek, they love to touch each others arms, elderly women love to touch my hair, and even just standing in line or something, they like to be right up against the people around. I've had people lean on my backpack in check-out lines which is really disconcerting!

So I love those dots on the floors now indicating where to stand ... NOT leaning on the backpack of the person in front, but rather a huge step behind! I love that only 2 people are allowed in an aisle. And I love that it is no longer socially acceptable to be all huggy-kissy with each other. Oh, and no one has touched my hair since last March except for a hairdresser yesterday. <3:)

"Get to do"s and "chose well"s
Chose well: email population and area info to grant writer, holiday nut balls batter, board meeting minutes.
Bonus: two loads laundry, roster progress, texted CD.
Get to do: take BP, dogs to powerline, call CD, call R, Copy CPFA folder and deliver to Chief, Analyze CPFA folder, corrected roster to Cal-Or, watch STAS Day 18 (go sniff), submit grant pics and receipts, test Bluetooth speaker so can do BB&B or T’ai Chi from voice recordings, make experimental almond paste, declutter sideboard, practice new dances (I ain’t never gonna love nobody but Cornell Crawford (Alley cat), A Little Less Broken, One margarita, I’m so used to being broke, All Night, Nothing but You, Blame it on my beating heart, Homesick); finish mulching flowerbed; broadcast cover crop seed in veg garden areas, invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant naked lady bulbs, and soon as it warms up above 50 and dries out below 60% humidity I’ll tape and spray paint those rusted areas of Aunt Elsie’s stove. Reconcile Joe’s EOB’s Thrivent shows only 2263.48 so far, Monday call State Fire Marshall’s office re: reporting, next Thursday at BGBS ask Terry about GB’s FD firetruck tax levy – contacts, media, advocate???
Reward: inventory seeds, plan next year’s garden, wishlist replenishments, ask faucet question, if answer ok order.
    Do Good December
11: Be generous, feed someone with food, love or kindness today: checked in with CD, call her tomorrow am, prep goodie bags this weekend for firehall Monday.

Halelujah! Joe announced he was taking Shadow for a hike at Harris Beach campground. Double Halelujah when he returned he announced he needed to get up out form the chair and do more. Doing my happy dance.

Allie, like Machka said, wish your carers spared you half the attention you’ve so generously given them and theirs. Is grocery delivery available at yours? You’re gonna need lots of new fruits and veggies.
Fae haven’t dared taste the fudge yet. It’s based on KJ’s adult fudge but with caramel vodka instead of Jack Daniel’s :D
Karen in VA, chills. Just the uplift we need. Thank you and thank Dan Rather.
Kay was able to hear but not see, was there a different link for video than podcast?
Pip, Yogi in hat, omg too cute!
Katla I watched on my laptop:https://akc.tv/ but heard there’s an iphone app. Rejoicing your DH is now willing to RV to the grands post-vaccine.
Rita fingers X’d for clear results and forward path.
Betsy the fudge isn’t baked but prepared stovetop in a double boiler, with the adult element added after taken off the heat. Wouldn’t want it to boil off!
    Flea rant:
I agree with you about the rich and powerful’s ability to negotiate better health care including the vaccine and imho it’s a national disgrace.
Like Machka, neither of us are in a rush to be vaccinated, a position shared by most everyone I ask. There may be more vaccines available for you and your DH than you expect. When one of my new buddies was saying good bye (she’s moving closer to medical services), we too, threw caution to the wind and hugged, and it sure felt good. Sad but good.
Heather, yeah, my voice, sounds like a beery Shirley Temple. Go figure.
Machka unlike you I am a hugger, but like you I’m startled, grossed out, disconcerted when some stranger crawls up my back in line. Need to develop a ninjaFae-like leap/twist around/yell move to get people to BACK OFF!

    Goodie production interrupted again, this time to knuckle down and minute Wednesday night’s board meeting and do some of the followup. There, it’s done! Now, if I could just find those two important pieces of paper… ;{

    Lighter, lovelies!
f8qt1s098sxm.gifBarbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD
    December: better than November.
daily: sit with Joe: 9, weigh: 11, steps>5505=2185 neither goodie production nor board meeting minutes good for step count. Average dangerously down towards goal. ;{ vits=11 log=11 CI<CO=11 CI<250<CO=10 Tumble & Shadow 5=10 mfp=11 outside=8 up hill=8
    wkly: T’ai Chi or BB&B x3 =0 rx= dance= clean 30 mins=1.5
    mnthly: board mtg=1 grant=1 20for20=0
    bonus: AF=7 play=0 sew=0

Luckily my friend has decided a cold, walk and talk lunch is not very alluring either. It's quite a long journey for her. I am going to ring her this afternoon for a chat :D

Another benefit for me this year is not having to visit or be visited. What a relief! No long journeys to see people. No having to get the house ready and cook dinners. No washing of extra towels and linen. No obligations at all really. :D
Plus no FOMO, which is a big problem for me. I suffer hugely from envy, and that has been largely absent this year. >:)
I do miss my singing and dancing and my French club. The singing most of all, I think.

I know the world and our country is suffering hugely under this virus and my heart goes out to people. We are yet to experience the true economic consequences( and now we have Brexit as well in the UK). I worry for people's jobs. Our children's jobs are very precarious.

For my personal life I have relished the chance to get on with my memoir and have enjoyed my personal space. It seems strange to say it, but this has been a good year for me. ;):*

Having said all that, I will be running up the road for the vaccine as soon as I can. My arm will be out before I get through the door. I want to see my grandkids and sit around a table with my family in the warm with take-away fish and chips! Standing in the garden doesn't really cut it. I'm hoping for January. The other grandparents have already got a date. :|

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx
