And hopefully the busy-ness will subside a bit so I can do that!!
Funny thing ... I'm looking at the photo and wondering what looked odd about it and then I realised. The cyclists are on the wrong side of the road! Must be a North American or European (not UK) photo.

"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: watched Laurel and Hardy with Joe while brushing Tumble
Bonus: English toffee
Get to do: take BP, dogs to powerline, call R, Copy CPFA folder and deliver to Chief, corrected roster to Cal-Or, analyze CPFA folder, watch STAS Day 18 (go sniff), submit grant pics and receipts, test Bluetooth speaker so can do BB&B or T’ai Chi from voice recordings, make experimental almond paste, declutter sideboard, practice new dances (I ain’t never gonna love nobody but Cornell Crawford (Alley cat), A Little Less Broken, One margarita, I’m so used to being broke, All Night, Nothing but You, Blame it on my beating heart, Homesick); finish mulching flowerbed; broadcast cover crop seed in veg garden areas, invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant naked lady bulbs, and soon as it warms up above 50 and dries out below 60% humidity I’ll tape and spray paint those rusted areas of Aunt Elsie’s stove. Reconcile Joe’s EOB’s Thrivent shows only 2263.48 so far, Monday call State Fire Marshall’s office re: reporting, next Thursday at BGBS ask Terry about GB’s FD firetruck tax levy – contacts, media, advocate???
Reward: inventory seeds, plan next year’s garden, wishlist replenishments, ask faucet question, if answer ok order.
Do Good December
15: Contact an elderly neighbor and brighten their day: hmm, drop off some goodies to S? .
Ann in FL I calls ‘em as I sees ‘em and stroll is about the best pace I can maintain for long…
Annie in DE “nothing excites me much these days” yah, that’s how I feel too.
Barbie thanks for the Omnibus (Ken Jennings John Roderick) podcast recommendation. I could use some funny ;}
Rita Sorry kiddo but I really like #1 best. Otherwise incline toward 4 & 5.
Allie puhleeze be careful. I worry hearing that you’re recouping from your heart surgery in a house where Jean has the flu. Also don’t like hearing that you’re back to feeding Faith. Sean should be taking care of YOU.
Lisa did I miss your responses to the “getting to know you” quiz?
Pip how cozy!
Joe is doing great, walking Shadow despite the rain, getting in his veggies, dialing back the sweets. Next week’s annual is a great motivator.
I, on the other hand, am a mess. Lost my “goodie knack”, The pecans all floated to the top of the butter(scotch) pecan fudge. The almonds in the English toffee scorched. I’m almost afraid to bake Mama’s almond crescents and holiday nut balls. Then after most of the day in the kitchen, couldn’t muster the oomph to step it up with Leslie Sansome. Oh and yes, the butter pecan fudge is delicious even though it looks weird. I ate four pieces!
Lighter, lovelies!

Dr. Katie-sorry to hear about your mom’s balance issues. Glad injuries were not worse.
Allie-post surgery fatigue is real-it can last for a bit. Glad you were able to do a couple of small, useful tasks. Does the pacemaker device have a backup/spare battery?
Julie-Love the Mamas and Papas “Monday Monday”. Glad you are adding to student’s education! In terms of Ikea (and any other) furniture I always take it slow, make sure I understand the instructions. Is it the chair that is not even or is there perhaps a low spot in the floor?
RV Rita-you should be proud of your son. Nice presents he sent. I like picture #2 best (next to original)
I don’t pay a lot of attention to home décor-put the stuff out that I like and don’t worry about themes. I find a lot of the “theme” stuff to be like living in a magazine and I live in a home. I do try to coordinate colors.
We are supposed to get some of the snow that will be moving to the east tomorrow. Supposed to be only an inch or so. Went for walk late afternoon after work and the air does have that snow feel to it (if anyone knows what I mean!).
Glad vaccines are starting. Even if we have to continue to wear masks after vaccinated until later next year, it will be nice not to have the same level of concern.
Winding down early tonight. Didn’t sleep well last night (kept waking up for some reason). Think I will go into bed and watch some of “The Curse of Oak Island.” I like some of the strangest shows!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio
Ginny, alas its a problem with the table and not the floor.

Barbara - why are you making holiday goodies? And why are you eating them?
I am so loving not having to worry about holiday cooking this year.
The one thing I'm getting annoyed about is my son said he would take care of Edie's present (she wants art supplies) As I haven't been inside their house since March I don't know what she wants/needs, (they have loads of art stuff) so I said OK. Now I am badgering the poor, overworked, worried man to get going on her present. He hasn't done it yet. I texted him to say I would be happy to do it if he told me what she wanted, but I've had no answer. (We have a huge and beautiful art shop just around the corner) He offered to do it in the first place.
I do have a pack of light sensitive paper that I was going to give as a joint present for the three of them, but I am not someone who can leave stuff until the last minute. It keeps me awake at night.
I'm only giving presents to the grandchildren this year, so it's especially annoying.
Actually, my son and I said we would exchange "foodie" items. I'm giving him one of my gorgeous pistachio oils, which I already had. Then, as I was passing the brand new deli up the road I suddenly had the urge to go in. They had an array of artisan pickled onions with funny, local names. One was 'Horsham Hellraiser'. I was brought up in Horsham, and I was most definitely a hell-raiser for a while. I told the young man serving in the store that my 15th birthday party was the talk of the town for 10 years. He said "Was anything broken?" I said, "Yes, a window and a car. " !!!!!!
So my son is also getting a jar.
DDIL is getting rhubarb and vanilla jam. She adores rhubarb.
We told everyone, no presents. DH's daughter has sent us wine from her local area in France where she has just moved. She says it is not a Christmas present, just something nice to drink, but it is all dressed up in a lovely grey, chiffon bag with a sparkly label!
My brother has sent us something because he forgot our birthdays. Arriving 17th.
Oh well!
Anyway, apart from the Edie thing, I'm so enjoying living my normal life. Normally I would be making desserts, planning meals, decorating, angsting about table decorations etc etc etc.
Aaaahhhh!

I'm finding this site fascinating: https://www.houzz.com.au/ I could spend hours looking at rooms.
This room is cute ... not keen on the wall hanging though. I'd have a bicycle or bicycle picture or a large frangipani or something. I'm not a curtain person but I like those curtains!
This is nice ... I'd change the picture to something beachy.
Ah back to work ...
M in Oz0 -
Hello everyone.
Ok, the countdown is on! It’s really hard to believe Christmas is 9 days away. I am looking forward to the long weekend. This is the first year the company has given us both Christmas Eve and day off. I think it was primarily done because Christmas is on Friday this year.
Work continues around the complex. It looks like a construction site in my area. We are still awaiting inspection for phase one. The tiles have been delivered for the mansard sections. I am really disappointed with the color – baby sh-t brown. Since the buildings have natural brick and are painted a yellowish beige I am not thrilled with the color. The former mansards were a rust red so there was a little pop. And, to think the owners voted for a similar color yet the board decided the owners did not know best. What is done is done – I am still happy the place will look brand new and as time passes I will not be reluctant to do some indoor upgrades.
Ginny – It sounds like we are both crazy busy at work. I was hoping it would be a little calmer since you are transferring the responsibility. But, as everyone knows training just doubles the work. Hang in there it’s almost over!! Very glad you were able to get in some family zoom time!
DrKatie – So sorry to hear about your mom’s fall. I hope she is doing better. Wow, I just read the clip about her fall. Your mom is one strong cookie!
Lisa and team –
What excites you right now?
I am excited for this week’s 3-day weekend and next week’s a 4-day break. The time will do me good.
What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to eventual travel. I am toying with taking a road trip to Nashville in May.
What’s the best thing that happened to you this year?
I have remained employed.
Where did you grow up?
I am still growing up. My beginnings started in Philadelphia, my teens and very early twenties were spent in South Jersey, and I am currently in South Florida.
What do you do for fun?
Fun is considered anything outside of work, although I have fun there too. Mainly gardening, flower arranging classes, going to the beach, cooking, shopping, dancing, seeing good bands, puzzling (new thing), spoiling Smokey the Brat cat, reading, socializing with friends, oh, I can go on and on.
Is there a charitable cause you support?
Feeding the community. I am excited the gleaning season will be starting here next month. For those of you who are new here, there is an organization that coordinates with farmers in the area for gleaners to come in after the commercial crops are picked. People come in and pick the balance of the crop which is sent to food banks and soup kitchens around the area.
What is the one thing you like best about yourself?
My heart.
What’s the most important thing I should know about you?
I am loyal to a fault. Yet, once a person is given enough rope I cut ties and never look back. I will say the rope has gotten shorter over the years. I am finding I just do not have time for BS.
Machka – I was chuckling at your suggestion to Allie about calling her doctor to assist with making sure she has electricity and/or someone come into her home to take car of her during the storms. Not because it was a bad idea. American healthcare leaves much to be desired and I am sure Ally may get assistance after 6-8 weeks of calls. She had to take herself to the emergency room to get a decent diagnosis.
Bananas – Would love to see pictures of your new furniture once you have everything set up. Hope you are happy with your selections. I would return the table. It’s brand new! 😊
AnnieMc – Glad to see someone else is still growing up with me! LOL……I hope to never stop growing.
Heather – Every time I read pigs in a blanket it makes me want to run out and make them. I remember my mom making them for me when I was very young. They are a holiday staple here too when others are present. I may buy some premade frozen ones so I can just toss a few in the oven. 😊
Allie – Sending you a big hug. I am so sorry you’re having such a hard time of it. Please be kind to yourself.
Three Places I would Take a Visitor – The Florida Keys, Sanibel/Captiva Islands, and Everglades National Park.
Barbara – I started to develop carpal tunnel syndrome and found re-teaching myself to depend upon keying was less taxing on my wrists. And keying is much more efficient – every second counts. LOL….
Katla – Fighting with Apple – ha! They are my main partner – I do it all day long but from a business point of view. LOL…..
Kindle – I love, love, love my Kindle. How else would I be able to carry around 700 books! I only use it for fiction. I prefer real books for non-fiction, cookbooks, references, etc. I will also purchase fiction in book form from time-to-time. I do love the touch and feel of a real book.
Tina – Glad to hear things are slightly improving. I hope you’re able to schedule a permanent fix.
Debbie – Wow, over the candy-making marathon. Hope there is nothing seriously wrong with your car.
Welcome Fuzbeme – Start by making small, doable changes. You have found the right group. We are all in different points of our journeys, on different plans, and varying locals.
RVRita – What a great story about your son. So happy for you. I think #6……
Whew – I was only MIA for a few days and have found I needed another marathon catch up!
It’s off to a shower and my long commute to work (10 steps)!
Hugs to all and prayers for those in need.

My dilemma…..
I have been invited to an outdoor Christmas gathering this Saturday. It will be a smallish group. Everyone was asked to bring an appetizer and their own drinks. Initially I said yes but am now second guessing my decision. The reasons are numerous. The biggest issue is the appetizer thing. Everyone will be touching the food (there is no plan for someone to serve). Do I go and bring something for everyone and not eat myself? Is it OK to bring my own dish and not eat everyone else’s food? Whatever I bring will be packaged in individual servings so no one will have to touch a serving utensil or accidently bump another appetizer on a serving tray. What about the bathroom? We will have to use the host’s bathroom. Do I bring Lysol wipes?
I am starting to feel I am either overthinking this or I should just decline. I miss everyone and want to see them, but I also live alone. If I get sick I have no family here to call and take care of me. Yes, I am sure friends and neighbors would assist, but……
What would you do?1 -
Suzi Q - Take wipes, wear a mask, take your own food and drink. We don't swap food with our family. Stay at a distance.
Enjoy yourself!

What would you do?
We, in Tasmania where there are no locally transmitted cases, were invited to a Birthday/Christmas party last weekend ... and opted not to go.
Our reasons:
1) My husband doesn't do well in groups of people. It tires him out rather badly and he gets confused and frustrated.
2) COVID ... or other illnesses. We're just not keen on spending time in close quarters with people this year.
I don't like shopping these days either. I get really edgy if the shop starts to get just a little bit crowded, and will leave. I also don't like it when someone sits beside me on the bus.
That said, we hosted a cycling event with 5 volunteers and 22 riders the weekend before. But it was all outdoors and our actual contact with the others was quite limited. We also had wipes and hand sanitiser etc.
And then last Monday, we had dinner with our son and daughter-in-law at their place. I was OK with that because it was only the 4 of us. Plus we were outside for a while and most of the time inside we sat across from each other at a large table with distance between us.

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday! I have been reading posts and mentally saying to myself, "Oh, I have to reply to her!"
Going to try to keep this short. lol
Rita- Like the others I like the first (last) style; but I also like the first one in the second row (except I would go shorter and spikier). But you are gorgeous, so any style you pick will look fantastic!
Machka- I love the rooms you are posting! So pretty! My living room is just a shade lighter than the most recent blue bedroom that you posted.
Heather- So...will the Horsham Hellraiser birthday incident be in your upcoming memoir?! This sounds like a story that needs to be included!
Lisa- Hmmm...I need to back track and find those questions.
What excites you right now? (can't be the vaccine. ) - Right now, I am just very excited about my upcoming time off. lol I have six more days of work (the rest of this week and then M-W of next week). Then I can just relax.
What are you looking forward to? (this can be the vaccine, but doesn't have to be. ) Planning next year's daycare activities and time off, while I am off over the holidays.
What’s the best thing that happened to you this year? A lot of great things have happened; but I think the best thing was seeing how absolutely amazing and supportive all of my childcare families have been since Covid hit.
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan (30 miles away from where I live now)
What do you do for fun? currently, I sleep for fun lol When I am not utterly exhausted, I hike, swim, and paddleboard.
Is there a charitable cause you support? There are a few. The American Heart Association, Gilda's Club (an other cancer charities), and then I pick one to receive my "mindful money" each year. This year it was a local women in transition charity (for women escaping abusive situations). Next year it will be our local veterans facility.
What is the one thing you like best about yourself? My sense of humor. (I crack myself up)
What’s the most important thing I should know about you? I love life and the crazy messiness that it encompasses. I am at my best when I am under the wire getting things done.
Kids arriving. Still have pancakes to make! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly) Welcome New girls!

@SuziQ113 reminded me about your medical system. If you were here, I doubt you would have been allowed home yet.
I wish you had more reliable care.

ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly) Welcome New girls!
My living room is probably a shade darker than that room. We rent so we're limited in what we can do and I haven't had the time to do anything pretty much since we moved in. But now I'm thinking that maybe in the new year I might be able to do a few things to pretty it up a bit.
The table and chairs are in the lounge room because I've taken over the dining room (other half of that room, to the right) for work (when the photo was taken) and for uni. And now there's also a Christmas tree in the dining room. Again, in the new year I want to look at some other options to make the whole area nicer.
So I'm getting ideas from that site I posted a link to.

My Samsung tablet, which isn't very old, has been running out of Storage. I've had to delete caches several times a day and it was getting on my nerves.
I knew that videos of the grandchildren were taking up a lot of space, but I couldn’t see how to move the old ones onto the SD card. The new ones go onto it, but I have so many old ones from when they were little!
So, I have painstakingly been moving them over one at a time, which actually has been wonderful because I've been looking at them again. How they warm the heart!
Now I've got about 5gs of space left on my tablet. I'm now copying the old ones onto Dropbox, so they are secured if the sd card crashes. Takes a while, but I really, really don't want to lose them. My deceased friend Ros is also on there chatting away.
Cleaner coming today. She normally comes Saturday, but she is taking this weekend off.
Then it is my regular girlfriend Zoom. Yes, I have put my face on!
I told DH that I couldn’t be bothered, nor would I have time, to make dinner. I gave him the option of takeaway pizza, or falafel and hummus, with salad and flatbread (all in the freezer) He picked the latter! Hooray! It is one of my favourite meals, but he is not over enthusiastic. Good manoeuvring on my part.

SuziQ, If you want to spend time with the people who will be at the gathering, then follow Heather's advice and go and have a great time. Otherwise, be like me and stay home.
The yarn arrived in the mail last night so today I can begin knitting the baby blanket for my friend. It's a kind of yarn I don't normally use and a brand new pattern, so I'm excited.

SuziQ if everyone else is sharing food, it becomes very awkward to not share yours. I would take something to share, but not eat at the party. You can have a snack in the car or beforehand. And then not stay long. Because the people who show up are not the ones being very careful.
It's a risk, but then you need some friend time too. Only you can decide how to balance that. Myself, I wouldn't go, but then I would fall in a FOMO funk.
Annie in Delaware2 -
SuziQ - I agree with taking people to the Everglades. That is a very special place. I loved it.
Tina0 -
Allie please isolate yourself from Jean and don’t catch whatever it is she has!! Your immune system is really low right now!
Barbara,Your DH sounds like mine: “go walk outside” but he won’t lol
Hairstyle, I looked closer and both #2 (one next to original) and #8 are the same one. Only difference I would do for me would be to part it on the other side. It is more like what I usually get so sounds like consensus is #8 (original cut what it looks like when first done but parted on other side!)
Home décor, Mine has never been a ‘real’ décor per se. It has always been a mish-mash of whatever. I am not very good at decorating and DH is a clutterbug. Currently my décor includes aliens, baby Yoda, skulls, 90’s furniture and curtains that came with the RV and lots of clocks (DH collects them??) LOL. Livable but a mess! I would love a minimal style with lots of open space. But, DH would fill it up in no time! He seems to need clutter. Probably adds to my anxiety/depression but who knows. Another excuse!
Going for bloodwork today and waiting on call for CAT scan. Something is very wrong with my left kidney or bowels on that side. Spoke to doc yesterday and she has me on a light diet with no seeds until we get this problem/pain resolved. (Or at least know what it is).
Pictures in spoiler: pic of the winning haircut (but whiter), sunset we had last night, and if you look close, a bird invasion we had last night! LOL.

I won't be arrogant and tell you what to do, but I will answer your question which was "What would you (I) do?"
I would do what I did last year or the year before. I refuse to let politics overrule science and control my life and take the pleasure out of living. You are right that the contact and food are of concern. In my opinion, it is the #1-way virus is spread and this comes from my former neurologist/virologist, rheumatologist, and also my neuro-otologist, all three world-renowned scientists. While coronavirus is spread by coughing or sneezing, this way is less likely than contact. Having almost died from the zoster virus and suffer permanent nerve damage including left-side brain sag, in my opinion, fear is killing more humans than the sars2/coronavirus. I would fear getting a serious case of intestinal flu or food poisoning, or even a bad cold, from going to a party as you described 100 times more than this weakened virus. If you didn't get the super-duper flu shot this year that covered the killer flu that appeared on the scene last fall, then I would fear that strand of flu 1000 times more than covid. It has a much lower rate of survival especially for those under 65.
If your immune system is strong, then the chances of you having any real effects from this virus are very low. I have a highly compromised immune system, but with antiviral therapy and vitamin and herb regimen, my immune system doesn't waste most of its energy on blocking the zoster (the anti-viral does this), instead, it blocks flu, colds, allergies, and all these new viruses very effectively. I haven't had flu and only one minor cold since I have been on antiviral therapy and it has been 15 years. Before that, I had fever blisters 6 months of the year, two or three colds, and at least one serious case of the flu yearly. I started getting yearly flu shots when I hit 60 as well as shingles vaccines. With that and the antiviral, I don't live in fear and carry on much the same as always except I wear a mask in stores just to put others at ease. Otherwise, I refuse. Not going to wear a mask when out walking because I fear covid flying through the air, turning corners, or jumping up off the sideway and getting me. I am not even worried about someone, unmasked, sneezing three feet away, especially if they look away.
I was invited to a party this evening. I won't go even though the food is being catered in and individually served and other precautions, because I don't like some of the people going this year plus it is near my bedtime. I didn't go last year for the same reasons plus several had colds. No one has a cold this year so I think it safer than last year medically, but I am still not going just because I have decided life is too short for being around certain people.
Your party sounds like fun and yes I personally would go, but if any doubt entered my mind, then I would cancel. The stress of fear cancels out any fun from socializing. Remember this is me and I wouldn't want you or anyone else to do what I would do. I would probably eat beforehand, put some snacks in my pocket, and take my own drink. If I had to wear a mask and stay 6 feet away, couldn't hug old friends, then I would stay home and do an online party. No fun for me and highly unsociable with all the guidelines now laws, punishable by jail time in my state. I believe in sound medical science as it comes from those studied in virology, medical text, and not the news media or government-sponsored organizations that have a political motive.
So I encourage all to think about what you did before 2020 when there was handshaking, kissing, no mask-wearing, double-dipping was common, no hand sanitizer insight, hands hurriedly washed and dried on a community hand towel, etc. Dripping noses being wiped with the back of a hand and then used to scoop up community chips and no one thought anything about many at the party getting bad colds, flu, or pneumonia days later. Did you go to parties then? Now with distancing (nothing social about it), mask-wearing, and more frequent hand sanitizing (how be it still far from what it needs to be), will you not attend a party from fear of covid when in times past you didn't fear other killer viruses? Perhaps we are all wiser now and should forego any holiday parties and prepare for the promised 100-day lockdown coming Jan. 20 for those in the USA.
If I could snap my fingers and make covid disappear within the hour, would you still go to the party? If so would you still mask up and refrain from hugging old friends? Would you still take your own hand sanitizer? Would you still fear potluck dishes? Would you fear your friend getting over a cold? Would you fear covid wasn't really gone? Would all your fears be gone with covid? When covid is gone will you fear the next more powerful virus?
Since this site is dedicated to fitness and health, I encourage all of you to be more diligent than ever about your health and fitness. Don't forget your mind also needs a good workout and I see many of you doing that with puzzles, crafts, reading, writing, etc. Stay strong ladies!
Wishing you all the best, Fae

Oh, how lovely! I get a disagree right away! What do you disagree with? Do you disagree with my personal experiences and knowledge? I would like to know from anyone hiding behind that disagree button. Maybe you disagree with medical science. Speak up and tell us why. SuzieQ asked what would I do and I answered.
How sad that political preferences can be posted here by some and not violate the rules, but I give my experiences and understanding of medical science and how it applies to me and I get a disagree.
Any wonder why so many have left this thread? This thread is under MOTIVATION and SUPPORT. Disagreeing with such a personal post as I made is neither supportive nor movtivational.

SuziQ: You will need to make up your own mind regarding the holiday social event. I notice that it seems to be more of a worry for you than a pleasure you’re looking forward to attending. I admit to being curious about what you decide. Heather has some practical advice. We are avoiding socializing with more than one other person and at least 5 feet apart. Our deck is great for this, but the weather is chilly and damp—not an inviting situation just now. :flowerforyou:
Allie: It sounds as though you are back to work awfully soon after being hospitalized. Faith gets some good luck in who cares for her, but I worry about you. I hope you don’t let yourself become over-tired. Can you call for help if your own health is in jeopardy? (PS: I’m in favor of voting Jean off the island. She, of all people, should know you need rest and time to heal.)
Rita: You’re looking VERY good!
Fae: Great advice! Our minds and bodies need exercise.
Has anyone heard from Tracey in Edmonton?
Holiday Cookies are off of our island. DH has gluten intolerance and the gluten free cookies are not wonderful in my opinion. I have my mom’s shortbread cookie recipe, but he can’t eat them and I can’t leave them alone, so I don’t bake cookies. :noway:
I have a dentist appointment tomorrow, and then I’m free for a while. I haven’t seen personal friends in ages, and poor old Arrow has had to do without me. I’ve also had to do without my human friends along with Arrow’s owner.
I plan to be in line for corona virus vaccine as soon as it is available to DH and me. Our doctor has us on her list and will let us know when to come in for vaccination. Our turn will be after first responders and medical staff. DH has more than one autoimmune problem and is "at risk" elderly, so that puts him on the list somewhere. He may be immunized before me. We will find out for sure later on. Who would have ever guessed that being labelled “elderly” might be an advantage? :grumble:

Katla I am gluten free and found away to bake without gluten or sugar. My DH and 23 yo friend can’t tell the difference! But, has been my downfall as far as my weight is going! Lol

Suzy I agree about refund. I have to see how that works. Does the refund cover transport and replacement. It SHOULD.
Last night or the night before (I can't remember which) at 9:30 pm I got an amazon delivery! that's a first. It said CYCLE on the package so I thought it was the slim foldable Exercycle to assemble. During an associative online meeting that I was invited to this evening, where my presence was really not important and everyone had videos off, I benefited from the time on 'radio mode" (mike and video off and just listening) to unpack. Finally it was curtains and not the cycle. I was able to hang the 2 sets curtains as I was listening , and toss out the old ones. I love the way they look. Definitely a PLUS.
I was mostly in class today and then went for a short walk (first in days) and then had meeting with lawyer and then the other radio-mode one (see above).
I looked into getting a local handy-person to help too. (not the ikea helpers who cost a fortune, but the local multi-purpose help service) 15 euros per half hour. Minimum half an hour. It might be very useful for the bed and tall shelves assembly, to have a hand...plus help me to not drag it out for EVER....
I still have to call ikea for the crooked table....4 -
SUZY I see you got lots of answers to your outing dilemma but I wrote this before reading them so here it is to add to the lot.
I can't stand the long aloneness (almost a year now) so I have gone to small gatherings (about 6 max), and would very likely go to larger outdoor one if invited and I liked the people.
If you are worried you can decline the eats and just have drink. You could bring some single serving drinks (and eats) so you know you can have a drink. I think having a drink but not eating can be inconspicuous. Both my dad (business guy in 60s and 70s) and me (in France 30 years ago) found walking around with glass half full was a way to get people off our backs for pushing us to drink. If I said no thanks to wine, they'd get on my case, but if I said yes, and only literally wet my lips and didn't finish, no one would say a word. Now I'm old enough, and times have changed so I have no problem declining if need be. Since it's just appetisers, it would seem totally reasonable to say one is not hungry and just drink a bit. I would not say why, (which could seem moralistic or make people feel uneasy or guilty or be cause for conflict), but just say no thanks, not hungry, and truly have a snack beforehand to ward that off. Wise or not, I am not very very worried personally about getting sick from COVID myself (or shall I say more worried about basic mental health after not seeing people hardly at all for many months over a year, which seems a real issue for me and greater risk than COVID at present) and have shared meals with small groups on occasion, or one on one, after many many months of solitude. I would drink not a ton, to not use the bathroom more than necessary if possible. Personally I am LESS worried living alone. I haven't caught something from my spouse/child that I can give to friends at the party, and if I do get it at the party, I can't give it to someone else, which is, by far, my greatest worry. I tend to have sanitiser on me in a little container. So can wash before and after touching everything. I was never a hygiene freak at all previously, but aren't we all now...1
